In the early morning Namor looked up from the hammock to see Shuri was gone from the make shift bed all was left kimoyo beads. He put on the kimoyo beads and it lit up. The kimoyo beads projected a hologram of shuri.
"I will be in my lab, do whatever it is you do in the ocean," the hologram shuri said before her image disappeared.
Namor returned back to Talokan. He shooed away his handmaidens needing to be alone. If someone had seen him one might assume he was sulking.
Namor began painting the wedding mural of him and Shuri the kimoyo beads sitting on the table. Namora came in her face harden with anger.
"She is from the surface world! She is not one of us!" Namora shout as Namor paused before rising up puffing out his chest. He looms over Namora making her feel small and inferior.
"Repeat what you said cousin." Namor said voice booming Namora kneels down her eyes on the ground.
"AJKu’kulkan, there are many woman in our city who are so much more worthy to carry your child and be your queen," Namora voice was almost a whispers.
"Are there others who think the same as you?" Namor as Namora shook her head no.
"You may rise my child," Namor said gently as Namora rise. Namor placing a gentle hand on Namora cheek.
"You must embrace the future or be destined to be left behind," Namor said gently.
"I think you should take patrol duty of the boarder for two weeks," Namor said giving her a punishment this would show other that he hasn't gone soft. Namora nods saluting him before leaving.
Shuri stood out on her bedroom balcony. She listened to the chirping of the crickets.
"I know you're here," Shuri called out to Namor hearing the fluttering of his wings.
"Hello, Yatan(wife)," he said gently flowers in his hand.
"Your a real charmer," she said flat tone pushing away the flowers walking back inside her bedroom. Namor following behind her.
"You left our honeymoon," Namor said grabbing shuri hand turning her around. Shuri pressed against his chest.
"Honeymoon or hostage situation," she retorts as he rolled his eyes his hand cupping her face.
"Where is my sweet Yatan(wife)," he cooed taunting her as she slapped him rough as he grins.
"There she is," Namor purred kissing her rough forcing his tongue in her mouth. She groaned digging her claws into his back as she kissed him back.
They laid naked on bed in a post sex haze. Their love tainted with anger and grief. She felt Namor breath against her neck as she ran her hands through his hair.
"The baby isn't slowing down. I've calculated it should be here in the coming months," she whispered her eyes heavy feeling Namor rub her stomach.
"The nursery in Talokan is almost ready," Namor said feeling shuri tense under him he kissed her hand lulling her to relax.
"I suppose the baby will stay with you on the weekends when they are old enough," she said softly she knew after the baby was born what ever this was between them should be put to rest.
She wasn't going to let her child grow up in an environment where the parents had a toxic relationship. She needed to keep this baby safe and happy.
Namor kissed her forehead rubbing shuri belly. He could hear her soft snoring. He smiled to himself but his heart ached knowing she will push him away again.
In the morning they are still entangled in each other arms. Namor was the first to wakeup he let himself watch the rise and fall of shuri chest. He stroked her hair gently kissing her forehead.
"Staring is rude," Shuri whispered pulling herself away. He chuckled.
"How can I not stare at such a beautiful sight," Namor said as Shuri hit him with a pillow. He laughs as he watches her get dressed.
"If you are staying then you will get dressed for breakfast," she said not even looking at him as she used her kimoyo beads to scan her body.
"Does In k'eech (my lover) want me to join?" He asked marvelled at the way her body was curving to her swollen belly.
"I'm not your lover." She grumbled.
"No? Then why am I in your bed Yatan(wife)" Namor purred knowing he was pushing her button. She glared at him as he grinned wide. He got off the bed striding over to her.
"You say we're not lovers yet you carry my child! Yet you let me draw out the most heavenly noise from you. Yet we are married in the eyes of
Cha'a
c," he said lacing their hands together. Shuri face was flustered as she looked away.
"You mean nothing to me," she growled pushing him away.
"Why deny your heart! You know what we are and what we could be!" He said rough.
"Fuck you! We were never anything! A moment of weakness doesn't mean anything!" She shouts back getting in his face.
"Your carry my child!" Namor said their foreheads touching.
"It is my child! Not yours! This child is the last thing that can give me happiness the last thing that isn't tainted by the mess you created," she said breathing heavy.
"We created that child together. We made our child in a loving and tender moment. We weren't royalty when we laid together for the first time. We were just a man and woman yearning to be touched and loved," he said his hand on her cheek. She touched his hand tears falling down.
"You should go home," Shuri whispered.
"You need to sort out who you are before our child is born," Namor said walking out as Shuri dropped to her knees sobbing.
Shuri stood in front of the hologram as she called out order to griot. Okoye walked in taking note on how Shuri food was mostly untouched.
"You know babies need all the nutrition," Okoye said gently Shuri was about to quip back but she sighed and took a bite out of her sandwich.
"Talk to me," Okoye said gently stepping into her older sister role pulling shuri close stroking her hair.
"I am cursed," Shuri said in soft voice Okoye shook her head.
"You aren't cursed...life has just handed you a bad deal," she said soothing the Queen.
"I have this dream where the baby being born and everything on fire and my hands are bloody and the only thing left is a baby with hollow eyes," she said she wanted this baby more than life itself but she knew the odds where against her. She had run the test it was 50/50 chance that she and the baby would both survive the birth.
"Tell me what is happening with the baby," Okoye said gently as Shuri eyes welled up with tears.
"There 50/50 chance that I or the baby might not survive the birth. I've been running calculation sure the baby healthy but it's growing to fast even with the herb flowing through me my body can't keep up," Shuri said she hadn't told anyone she been carrying this all on her own.
"Bast help us," Okoye mumbled she couldn't bare the thought of loosing another family member.
"Have you talked to Namor maybe they have something that could help," Okoye said as Shuri looked somber.
"What happened between you too?" She said softly.
"Namor and I are nothing more than co-parents," Shuri said firm as Okoye shook her head.
"You know, you two will be raising a baby. He needs to know. Babies can sense when there disruption in the household. You two need to come together for this child," Okoye said kissing shuri forehead.
"I know," Shuri said softly.
The beach waves rippled at her feet as she blew the conch shell before placing it in the water. Namor rose from the water looking at Shuri searching for any signs of distress.
"I want honesty and for our child not to know that their parents fight," Shuri said softly taking Namor hand taking him to shore they sit down. The beach sand against their ass.
"Then what have you been lying about," Namor said.
"There 50/50 chance of survival either me or the baby." Shuri said as Namor eyes widen.
"Why didn't you tell me," Namor said harsh as Shuri looked down ashamed.
"I wanted to fix it. One thing I could fix I want this baby so badly if I have to die then so be it then maybe this pain in my heart won't follow me to the ancestral plane," Shuri said clenching the sand before letting it fall through her hands.
Namor tsked her shaking his head.
"My sweet Yatan(wife). War has broken your heart but know that it still beats in your chest. My love you have so many people who want to help you...the baby aren't alone," Namor said softly.
"If we never kiss or lay together again it wouldn't matter because I will still be here for you," He said as he stood up holding out his hand. Shuri smiled softly grabbing his hand as she lurched forward screaming in pain.
"Shuri! What is the matter?" Namor said searching her face.
"The baby...my calculation I messed up its coming," Shuri screamed in agony Namor picked her up and began to fly her back to the palace.
Everyone rushed about as Namor held Shuri hand tight as she sobbed her face twisting in pain. She was laid in a small shallow pull filled with ocean water. The doctors around her as she walked.
"Namor...I...If..I..." Shuri groaned as she squeezed Namor hand tight.
"Were going to have to operate..." The doctor said worried as Namor kissed her forehead.
"I regret the war that tore us apart," Namor said to shuri as he watched the medical team place her on the hospital bed.
"I forgive you," Shuri said kissing his hand as the medial team rushed her off.
The sound of a baby wailing could be heard through out the hospital room. The baby had dark tawny skin pointy ears and a scrunched nose as they were being cleaned off by the medical staff.
"Congrats my Queen you had a healthy baby girl," The doctor said handing the child to Shuri who had tired eyes. Shuri looked upon the child and saw the face of her mother and brother behind the child eyes.
"My sweet child," Shuri said kissing the baby forehead. Namor rushed in his heart settling as he saw his child.
"Cha'ac Ts'o'ok in bendecido (Cha'ac has blessed me)," Namor said smiling wide kissing the baby cheek.
Shuri looked at Namor with their daughter in his arms she smiled. She felt the pain in her heart fade just for a moment she felt content she wasn't sure what the future held but she knew that she was forever tied to Namor.
