Chapter Text
Listing everything was a pain. It was only when he had started listing everything with all the information and details that he had realised how much he had, and it was a ton. In total it took about an hour to be able to list everything and just as he was about to relax that there was a knock at the door.
As he was questioning who could be at the door, he realised that it was 2pm. That meant it was probably the boxes arriving. So, he went and got them from the front door and took them to his room to start packing everything up. He made sure that everything was stacked carefully and that nothing would fall, get damaged or bent from being in there which was easier said than done especially with the posters. Surprisingly enough, it didn’t take him all that long to do compared to how long it took to list everything. Guess playing all that Tetris helped. This meant he could finally check his phone and relax.
Or not.
Izuku had just looked at his phone to find a text from his mum saying that not only was she working late again, but that she was getting food with her coworkers, and earlier he had eaten the last packet of ramen meaning that there was no food left. Great. Now he needs to go out and get groceries with what little money he has, and he was planning on using that money to buy some new decorations for his room. But nooooooooo!! The universe has to fuck him over once again! Izuku took a deep breath in and collected himself. He would have to go now so he wouldn't forget to do so later and to make sure he could avoid people from school. From what he could remember he had about ¥5000 cash in his wallet, and he had a little on his card but he wanted to keep something for redecorating so it meant that he was limited in what he could buy. Getting the essential ingredients for a light meal was the ideal and cheapest choice, but he would need to get more than just that since he didn’t know when his mum would have time to go shopping. So hopefully, he would be able to buy a couple packs of ramen if not… well he would have to get creative.
Izuku walked into the kitchen and checked the cabinets and after, deciding what food would be best to buy with the stuff left. He grabbed a piece of paper and started to write a list of what he would need, he wrote the ingredients of a few meals like Udon and Miso soup as well as some packets of ramen, those weren’t necessary but it would be nice to have something to fall back on in a pinch so he wouldn’t be stuck ordering out or just going hungry. Now that he had sorted that out, he decided to grab the stuff that had been brought so he would be able to drop them off at the post office since he was going out and it was on the way. Grabbing his keys, wallet, phone, some merch and the list he left to go shopping. All Izuku wanted was a break.
Cooking was a pain. It wasn’t actually, he loved cooking, it was something he and his mum bond over. But doing it by himself, with little energy and after being asked the same question 20 times in the last hour, makes it infuriating. Sure, seeing a middle schooler on the street during school hours can warrant a question or two from an adult who thinks they are being helpful but when another person who was in earshot of the first asks the same question, it starts to get annoying. Either way he had gotten back and had just finished making some udon and went to the table to eat. He broke apart his chopsticks and said thanks and started to eat.
Whilst eating his mind started wondering, “What am I going to do for school?” Izuku wondered aloud. He didn't know of many schools that accepted quirkless students and the ones that do... he would be better off dead then going to most of them. Places like Shiketsu and UA did say they allowed quirkless students but after what All Might said he started to doubt what he read. “What if they just put it on their websites for the sake of looking inclusive but then turn me away at the gate?” Kami, that would be social suicide, like discovering his lack of quirk all over again. Izuku would have to do some more research because he had always had his sights set on any UA course, but more specifically, the hero course but he can’t be a hero. He never could. In reality, he was delusional for thinking he would be able to be a hero without a quirk in the first place. And didn't that hurt. He hadn't even said it, all he did was think it and yet, it hurt. It was like he had just killed a part of himself, or maybe, this part of him had always been dead and he had never realised it.
Wow. Him and crises were becoming quick friends. Hah. Something he’s never had since age 4. Kami, he needs to stop thinking. Izuku had been in such deep thought that he hadn't even realised he had finished his food, only realising when all he got was a bite full of air and wood. He sighed. Maybe he should just head to bed early and hope that his thoughts sorted themselves out in the morning. Yeah, that sounded like a good idea, he was exhausted from everything he had done today. He cleared the table and cleaned up and then headed straight to his room where he almost considered not changing, which was vetoed by his small amount of dignity, before collapsing into bed and promptly falling asleep.
Unfortunately, Izuku would not get a peaceful night sleep as sludge kept plaguing his view. A time when All Might never helped, where he knew who he was, what he was, before saving him. Where memories of him and Bakugo came and went but only one thing changed in these memories, All Might was the one talking not Bakugo. Here instead Bakugo giving him advice in that classroom it was the no.1. Izuku wouldn't remember these when he fully woke up, but he would wake up to one question on his mind.
If All Might had told him to take a swan dive, would he have done it?
After Izuku had woken up and gotten dressed, he headed to the kitchen to get breakfast and promptly remembered the food situation so, he had to forgo breakfast today. Deciding to try and forget the random question he woke up to, he decided to check his phone, the screen lit up revealing he had a notification from the person he helped he clicked on it to see what they had said.
@Bippitybo
Thank you so much!! This is amazing!! I'm aiming to go to Ketsubutsu and I really needed this!!! I can’t thank you enough this is professional level stuff and not at all creepy!!
Thanks again!
That was not what he was expecting. He was expecting to be called creepy and for them to get weirded out, but they’re really nice! He wasn't sure what to do since his mum was at work, again, and he didn't have any schoolwork as nothing was sent over, it was likely that it was deliberately done by his teachers so he would get in trouble even though he would have been accused of searching up the answers and cheating if they had sent it over anyway. There weren't any more people wanting to buy his merch yet, so he wasn't quite sure what to do. Doom scrolling was an option but not one he wanted to choose; he could research schools that would accept the quirkless. Yeah, that would be the best use of his time he still hadn't chose a high school he could go to; at this point he was considering just not going to high school with all the negative results he's seen. No, he couldn't, what would his mum think. With the motivation of not wanting to disappoint his mum ever again, he began his deep dive into research. Until he was interrupted with the first article that had popped up on his feed.
The slime villain .
It had gotten away from All Might. Izuku abandoned his task in favour of seeing what had happened and Kami did he wish he didn't see it. The villain had attacked Bakugo, and it was his fault. All Might must have dropped the bottle when Izuku distracted him which led to the villain escaping and attacking him! Is he okay? Why had no one told him? It's been a few days. How is Aunt Mitski and Uncle Masaru? Does mum know? Kami! If only he wasn't so useless! Izuku punched his leg in frustration. If only he wasn't stupid! He did it again. A Deku! And again. Worthless! The next punch was the hardest. It stung. It would bruise. And it broke Izuku from his thoughts. If no one had told him it meant that Bakugo was fine, right? Izuku read on and breathed. Pro heroes had rescued him. He was left with minimal injuries and would be fine in the next couple days. He didn't know when he had started to cry but he couldn't stop. Whether it is out of fear, guilt or relief he didn’t know; all he knew is that he was not going to stop for a hot minute, so he didn’t try to stop. He let the river run its course. After a while he finally stopped and his head was pounding, he stood up and got a glass of water and went back to his room. He sat there just waiting for the pounding to go away. Once it did, he went back to researching, opting to try and ignore any news articles for the time being.
Denki gathered around one of his classmate’s desk with the rest of his friends and immediately joined the conversation. Once the conversation had reached a quiet point, a rare thing especially with him in the friend group, Sakura pulled out her phone and started speaking. “You remember that person I was telling you about yesterday?” a group of affirmatives went around the friend group. “Wait which guy? You talk about like 50 guys a day.” Denki questioned. “I DO NOT! And it’s the person online who does the stuff with the quirks.” “Right, I'm following you now.” “Sure.” Sakura replied “anyway, I messaged him about my quirk, and he replied super-fast and LOOK at what he said it’s AMAZING!” Sakura turned her phone to face everyone else, they all leaned in to read at what they had replied with. “Thats amazing!” one of his friends said. “I KNOW RIGHT! They didn't even ask for me to pay them or anything which is kinda weird, you think they forgot?” said Sakura. “Maybe” replied Denki, “but either way I'm asking them to do mine! I'm gonna need the help if I'm gonna get into UA.” All of Denki’s friend replied with similar statements, not all of them wanted to get into heroics but some wanted to go into other fields where their quirks would be utilised. They all decided to message Echo before class asking for them to analysing their quirks and that they were willing to pay them and to name a price. The message looked like this:
Hey, I'm a friend of @Bippitybo and they recommended your services. I was wondering if you would be willing to analyse my quirk like you did with my friends. If you require payment just let me know the price and how you want to be paid.
All that was left to do was wait.
Izuku was brought out of his research from multiple notifications from his phone. He opened his phone and looked at the notifications all of which were basically the same. At first Izuku thought they might have been spam messages but changed his mind when he had read the full messages .
@DeltaLightning
Hey there! I'm a friend of @Bippitybo and they recommended you. I was wondering if you would be willing to analyse my quirk like you did with my friend’s. If you need payment just tell me the price and how you want to be paid!
They were friends of BippityBo and wanted to pay him? And BippityBo had sent them a message asking if he need them to pay. Why did people keep trying to pay him for something like this? Izuku had no idea, but he knew that he is more than willing to help; he sent everyone that had sent him a request saying that he would more than gladly help them with their quirks but there is no need to pay him. He also sent BippityBo a similar message saying thanks for the offer but there was no need. Now all that there was to do was to wait for them to reply with the information about their quirks, so he was about to get back to researching when a reply came through.
@DeltaLightning
My quirk is electricity. It allows me to store electricity and discharge it and I can cover my body in it. I can also discharge it over a distance, but I have little to no control over it. Also, I have a limit that fries my brain if I go over it. Hope that’s enough. I would send you a video but I'm in class rn.
You:
Don't worry that’s more than enough to work with for now!
Also please pay attention in class. I will try to get back to you ASAP.
Well, at least he had something to do now. He already has a few ideas on how to utilise the electricity like using metal weapons like a staff or nunchaku or something. He could also use himself as a taser if he has martial arts training. Izuku knew he was going to have a lot of fun with this one.
“Hey guys.” Sunako called walking over to their table with her lunch, “Whatcha talking about?” “About the messages for Echo.” one of his friends, Akira, said “We were trying to figure out what to send them.” “Oh, I would just give them a generic description of mine, kinda like what the quirk counsellor said.” Sunako commented . “I went a bit more in depth than that .” Denki said putting a piece of mochi in his mouth “I told him the limits of my quirk and the side effects too.” “First of don't eat with your mouth full. Second , you already sent them a message with all that info ?” Akira said accusingly . Denki swallowed then replied “yeah, I did it in class. Besides don't they need all the information they can get to make it as good as possible.” Akira was silent for a moment until she replied “ Yeah, I guess you're right. Show us what you sent so we know what to send too.” With that, Denki unlocked his phone and slid it across the table for them. “The fact they told you to pay attention is funny as hell” Fuji remarked with a chuckle . “Thanks Fuji” deadpanned Denki . Once they had returned his phone, they both typed up their own descriptions of their quirks and sent them off before returning to their lunch all the while Denki was bouncing with excitement waiting to see what Echo had come up with.
