Chapter Text
It was by that point that I'd finally had enough. My head was pounding from trying to come to terms with what the heck was going on, and I realized that in my morbid curiosity, I hadn't drunk anything in ages, which only made it worse.
I stumbled off to get some water and relax, and by the time I returned, the family was gone.
I never saw them again after that. Judging by the lights in their lodge at night, they stayed the remaining few days of their vacation, but none of the staff saw them leave.
My boss told me that the man checked out late on the final night, but that was it.
I asked him whether he saw the kids and he said no, though he mentioned that the man drove this big passenger van with what looked like tinted windows.
When he probed why I asked, I had to just run with it and make up the excuse that there were a lot of them, that was all.
Needless to say, I haven't seen that extraordinary family since, but in all honesty I'm not sure if I want to.
Still, I'll be keeping an eye on the news. Surely there's only so long that you can hide something like that...
