Chapter Text
Chapter 17:
It was unlike anything Ian had ever felt. He had worked about a million and one jobs in his semi-short life thus far. None of them, however, had been like this and most of them he had hated. After working himself into the ground, and promising both Mickey and Mandy he would be more careful and not do that again. Although he didn’t know how much he could keep that promise. The praise and overall reception from the clients were more than he could have ever hoped for. He already had a handful of high profile projects starting up in the new year.
And for now? He was a very important family vacation with case de Milkovich.
--
The door swung open, Colin Milkovich standing t the door. His mouth full of food, he motioned for Ian to come in.
The house was the sort of hectic that had Ian missing his own family. It felt more like home than anything possibly ever could. Ian mentally reminded himself to spend some very much needed time with his own family when they returned.
Ian stood off to the side, watching the chaos, at one point Mickey poked his head out and smiled at him. “Hey.” He said lightly. “Where the fuck are my keys!?” he yelled his voice echoing throughout the house. He winked at Ian before there were keys being tossed between family members until they flew into Mickey's hand. Mickey walked to the center of the room and handed Ian the keys. Placing a kiss on the side of his face. “Need help getting your stuff loaded up?” he asked and Ian shook his head. He didn’t have enough stuff to need help. He wondered how that would go. Mickey didn’t say anything, just bounded off back to what he was doing.
--
Ian watched in amazement. Something about his boyfriend today. So light, so free and uncaring and attentive. Mickey never acted like this, not even after he told everyone Ian was his, even when he saw him out of work, he was never quite so loving and Ian was eating it the fuck up. It started with the little kiss when he handed him the keys and went on from that. When everything was settled and the house was locked, Mickey held out his hand to Ian as they walked to the car. Ian offered to sit in the back with Yevgeny leaving Svetlana up front, both her and Mickey quirked an eyebrow looking at him but they nodded and went on.
He laughed when they spent the first twenty minutes fighting over the music. He looked at Yev and got out his phone to play a game, letting Yev touch the screen, and the kid would laugh. Ian loved the sound of the mini-Milkovich laugh.
--
Mickey noticed Svetlana staring into the rearview mirror watching Ian with their son, he looked over at her, and she was smirking. He knew what she was saying without her having to say it. She liked Ian, she loved how good he was to their son. He nodded and looked back to watch his boyfriend with his son. It was kind of beautiful really. He couldn’t help but smile brightly, because who would have thought Mickey Milkovich could ever or would ever be this fucking happy. He waited until they got to their first stop, as his son and svet ran into the gas station.
“Just a sec.” He said to Ian.
“I really gotta…” Ian bounced and he laughed but pulled Ian in for a deep kiss anyway. Ian looked at him with his eyes wide, before pulling him back and kissing Mickey, before running off for his bathroom emergency.
--
The Beach was beautiful they had spent the day, laughing and playing, the whole family, and happiness. After he had put his son to bed, he and Ian had cuddled up in their room and fell asleep. Until about 2 am when Mickey woke up because Ian wasn’t next to him in bed any longer. He looked around for a minute, curiously and then a little more frantically, until he looked out the window. Ian was sitting on the beach, the moonlight cascading around him, and he had something in his hand. Mickey walked out of the beach house and made his way down to Ian.
He noticed Ian was looking at the sky and drawing, he got closer to see and he smiled brightly. It was absolutely perfect. The way he took in not only the view but the emotions he conveyed in his art. He leaned down to wrap his hands around Ian.
“Oh…sorry I didn’t mean to run off on you. I just…I had to.”
“Finally drawing something besides my face then? That’s good babe. It looks fucking fantastic man.” Mickey encourages him, sitting behind him and wrapping his arms around him. “Keep going. I want to watch.”
“You’re different out here. So relaxed. I like seeing this side of you.” Ian stated and Mickey placed little kisses across Ian’s back.
After a while Ian finally put his paper down and turned to kiss Mickey, pulling him onto his lap.
“Hold that thought. Let me put your stuff in the house.” Mickey said getting up and swatted Ian’s hand away when Ian tried to stop him.
--
While waiting for Mickey to return, Ian stripped his clothes off and walked towards the ocean, letting the water touch his skin. Enjoying watching the moonlight as he walked further into the water, smiling at how perfect this was.
--
Mickey walked out of the house and made his way to the beach. The first thing he saw was Ian in the water, the next thing he noticed was the clothes piled in the corner. He chuckled, a little thankful that this wasn’t a beach on the mainland where all of the tourists were. His boyfriend was swimming, naked and beautiful and fucking hell.
Ian turned to him, calling out to him. “Join me.” He called. Mickey shook his head laughing.
“Ain’t no way I'm going in there red.” He said, but even he knew that was a lie. The thing was, he would probably do anything that Ian Gallagher asked of him, and that was a little bit of a scary thought. But at the same time exhilarating.
--
Of course, Ian looked at him, with a look he was sure that only Ian Gallagher could pull off. It was one that was a slight pout like a puppy but there was this quirk of his eyebrow that made it look sultry, almost seductive and it did exactly what it was intended for. Mickey was stripping off his clothes before he really knew what he was doing.
He wrapped himself around Ian when he reached him and started kissing him passionately.
Ian pulled back a little smiling brightly at him. “I want to tell you something but…I don’t want you to freak out.” Ian says lightly, looking nervous and Mickey thinks he knows what Ian is going to say. He kisses Ian hard to comfort his nerves, hoping that will help him know how Mickey feels about him. It seems to only relax him for a minute, so Mickey sighs and leans in really close.
“I love you, Ian,” Mickey whispers and Ian’s eyes widen.
“How…you do?” He asks his voice going up an octave.
“How could I not? You are everything to me red. And it's sappy and annoying, because I don’t do this shit, but for you, I would give anything just to make you happy. To see that goofy smile on your face.”
“God Mickey, I love you. It’s what I wanted to say, have wanted to say so many times, but I was so afraid to freak you out. I know I am too much sometimes, and I know that you are…I don’t know, I just didn’t want to lose you because it was too soon or something. Because all of this really is isn’t it?” He’s rambling and Mickey laughs because it’s fucking adorable.
“Shut up and kiss me you big goof.”
And Ian does, they both stay out there making out in the moonlight before finally managing to come inside and fall asleep in their bed, curled into each other.
