Chapter Text
Durham opened the door to the basement and was met with the inky black descent, he then flipped the switch beside the door and the room was illuminated with light.
I haven’t been in this basement in years, I'm kinda scared what I’m going to find down here.
“Are you going to go down anytime soon?” asked Miguno behind him, getting impatient, but no response came, “Durham!”
Durham jumped, “Yeah, I’m going, I’m going.” he said as he finally started to go down the stairs, with each step he took the step and let out a horrible creaking noise as if the floor below them would collapse and they would fall. When he finally reached the bottom he immediately saw the camping gear on the right wall next to a bunch of old boxes. From what he saw it consisted of their old large camping tent, a few sleeping bags. “Well there is the camping gear, now we just need to carry it to the old van in the garage.” said Durham.
He looked around some more and saw more boxes, an old sofa that looked like it had mold growing on it. There were photographs on some of the shelfs of him and his parents from when he was younger. He took his attention away from all of the photo’s and looked to where Miguno should have been but he wasn’t there, “Miguno!” he got no response, not thinking much of it, he went over, grabbed the tent bag and two of the sleeping bags and made his back up the stairs. He made his way over to the couch and sat the stuff down in front of it. He once again called for the hyena, “Migs, where did you go!”
That’s when he heard noise coming from down the hallway, he slowly walked towards the hallway and made his way towards the noise, it was coming from the bathroom door. He raised his hand and lightly knocked on the door the noise stopped, “Mig’s are you in there?” he asked already knowing the answer. He heard quiet sniffling and then a reply came from the otherside.
“I was just using the bathroom. I'll be out in a minute, I have to wash my hands.” he waited outside the door and when the door opened the hyena exited, looked Durham straight in his eyes, the coyote noticed wet trails going down both of his cheeks, “Dude, are you okay, were you crying?” asked the coyote.
“No! I mean, I’m fine.” said the hyena, “I just had to use the bathroom, I’m okay.”
The coyote knew that the hyena was lying but didn’t want to pry anything out of his friend. It didn’t feel right to force information out of someone if they didn’t want to talk about it. So instead he just said, “Okay, if you say you’re fine, I believe you, but if you want to talk to somebody just know that I’m here.” Miguno nodded and walked past him into the living room.
Durham knew something was up, he just didn’t know what. He wanted his boyfriend to open up more, the only thing he told him was that his dad used to abuse him. He’s shown me his scars and everything, but I don’t know what he did to him exactly. All he knew was that he had to be there for his friend and be his support. He walked to the living room and together they carried everything to the old van in the garage. The van was about ten years old and only had four seats, two in the front, and two in the back. It used to have seven seats in it, but they were taken out and used for something, Durham couldn’t remember what his dad used them for though, the rest of the van was just empty space.
After they finally finished putting all of their supplies into the back of the van, including extra clothes, snacks and the sleeping bags and tent. After they finished they went back to the living room and spent a few hours watching whatever came on, but mostly talked through the shows that did come on.
“I’m so bored,” the hyena said, “I love hanging out with you but can’t we do something other than sit in the house all day.” Durham took out his phone and looked at the time it was currently three in the afternoon, an idea suddenly popped into Durham’s head, “How about we go out and eat somewhere, I know this really good cafe a few blocks from here.”
Miguno’s eyes filled with excitement, “You mean like a date?” the coyote nodded his head, “Hell yeah!”
Miguno leaned forward and planted a kiss on the other’s nose, after that he jumped up and started to pull the coyote towards the door, “Wait I need to get my wallet!” said Durham, he broke free and ran into his room grabbed his wallet, “Alright, lets go,” he said this time, grabbing Miguno’s hand and dragging him out the door instead.
After they left the door the coyote locked it and they were now walking down the sidewalk towards the cafe. “Durham?” The coyote turned to look at the hyena, “Thanks.”
“For what?” asked the coyote in confusion, “I didn’t do anything.”
Miguno shook his head, “Thank you for caring, I appreciate you, and all the other boys.” said Miguno.
“There is no need to thank me or any of the other guys, we are friends. If you feel sad anyone of us would do anything to make you feel better.” said Durham with a smile.
“I would do the exact same for any of you. I love you all.” Miguno felt a tear rolling down his cheek, “You’re going to make me cry.”
They continued walking until they made it to their destination, it was a small cafe with a few people inside. “Well, we are here, you ready for the date of a lifetime?” asked the coyote.
“You bet I am.” replied the hyena, he walked forward and opened it up to Durham, “After you ma lady.” Durham laughed and walked through the door. The hyena followed close behind him as the door closed behind them.
