Chapter Text

As far as heats go, this is one of Doyoung’s easiest. Past the halfway part of day three is when he barely needs anything at all. They still have their fun of course, both of them remaining over the moon at the new step up in their relationship, using the time off together to indulge in an obnoxious amount of sex regardless if Doyoung’s heat is better or not. There’s even a point where their several orgasm long session has Jungwoo falling into a mini rut, fueled purely due to Doyoung’s pheromones. It’s more playful and less of a desperate necessity for Doyoung, letting Jungwoo drag out Doyoung’s orgasms until he’s on the point of crying, happily sighing when he finally cums. The alpha is pretty much stuffed in Doyoung’s pussy any chance he can get, cock buried so deep Doyoung didn’t even realize it was possible, all while Jungwoo is licking at the incredibly sore bond mark and whispering to Doyoung how much he’s breeding him. And Jungwoo is truly breeding him.

There are several times after a knotting that Doyoung physically feels full, which isn’t anything he doesn’t feel during his other heats. This time though, it’s got meaning behind it. It’s not just him being full because Jungwoo cums an obscene amount of cum, it’s also the fact that Jungwoo is using every opportunity to make sure Doyoung is creamed, his poor swollen pussy always filled to the brim. It leads to Doyoung practically pouring out cum every time that Jungwoo pulls out, the cum being so much that he urges Jungwoo to grab a towel to put underneath him. Jungwoo does it over, and over, and over again, growling in Doyoung’s ear about how much he wants to give him bunnies.

With the increase of creampies and just Jungwoo’s cum in general, Doyoung’s body starts to be affected more than usual. On the fourth day he’s woken by a sore chest, nipples bright red and puffy, chest very noticeably swollen. By the time Doyoung gets a shower after lunch, there’s milk that beads at his nipples and his chest has grown even more, making Jungwoo very curious and very handsy. Another change is that Doyoung feels like he can’t get enough of Jungwoo, like physically cannot be closer to him at all times. He wants to be pressed up against his alpha no matter what they’re doing, his scent being almost too good to be away from (even though the entire apartment smells like Jungwoo’s pheromones). All he wants is Jungwoo even if Jungwoo is already right next to him.

By day four, Doyoung is ready to get out of the house. His heat is practically nonexistent, the fuzzy warm feeling only taking him over slightly at rare times, mostly when he spends too much time buried against Jungwoo’s neck. He’s confident that his and Jungwoo’s pheromones are subdued enough now for them to venture out for a bit.

Doyoung hears his phone buzz as he tugs on a pair of pants, the feeling slightly uncomfortable due to the pad he’s wearing to prevent not only his slick from soaking his pants but Jungwoo’s cum that is still steadily leaking out of him almost as if it is his slick. The bunny turns around in the mirror, adjusting his tail through the small hole in the back, fluffing up the fur as he hears his phone buzz again, only this time it’s more than once, a steady set of vibrations that makes him walk over to the bed where he’s left it.

“Hello?” Doyoung says, tilting his head to squish the phone between his ear and his shoulder, hands busy grabbing his shirt that he laid out.

“Oh my god, Doie,” he hears Taeyong sigh out, “Thank you for finally answering.”

Doyoung’s brows furrow at Taeyong’s words, holding his shirt tightly in his hands. “What’s wrong?”

“Well,” Taeyong starts, “Nothing’s wrong exactly.”

The bunny waits for Taeyong to continue, to add on for the reason he called him. When he doesn’t answer right away, Doyoung tugs his shirt over his head, shimmying it until it’s on correctly. “Then why did you call me?” Doyoung huffs, “I’m about to go have lunch with Jungwoo.”

“Are you talking to Doyoung?” he hears a voice say in the background, loud enough for him to make out. Then there’s muffled talking before he hears a gasp. “Doyoung,” Ten says happily, “How are you? How’s the heat going? Are you getting your fix of alpha cock?”

Doyoung rolls his eyes, body turning around once more in the mirror, fingers tugging at his tail. “Why do you ask like you don’t already know the answer.” Doyoung tilts his head up when he hears the shower turn off, biting down on his lip for a moment before he continues. “Look, is everything okay? Yongie sounded stressed out.”

“He’s fine,” Ten coos, “I think he’s just lonely cause Yuta is out of town and he’s stuck with me and Jaehyun.”

“Have you told him yet?” Doyoung asks, his arm crossing over his stomach, elbow leaning against his wrist. There’s a silence that has Doyoung’s tongue clicking. “Ten you really should-”

“I’m gonna, okay?” the kitty says quickly and in a much quieter tone than before. “I think he’s kind of catching on anyways. He’s extra clingy.” Doyoung looks up as Jungwoo comes out of the bathroom, fully naked with the towel rubbing at his hair. “How are you though, like seriously? Did he bite you? Are you bonded?”

Jungwoo tilts his head at the Doyoung and the bunny quickly rolls his eyes and Jungwoo immediately laughs, understanding exactly what Doyoung means. “I’ll tell you about it when I come back to work,” Doyoung says, leaving Ten to let out possibly the most dramatic groan he’s ever heard from the kitty. “I’m going out to lunch with Jungwoo so if there’s nothing actually wrong, I’m gonna hang up now.” When all Doyoung gets in response is another groan, he pulls the phone away and hangs up.

“Everything okay?” Jungwoo asks, the puppy busy pulling out his clothes from the closet.

“Everything’s fine,” Doyoung laughs, choosing to settle down on the bed while Jungwoo gets dressed. “They just wanted to check up on me.”

“Mm,” the alpha hums, ears perking up as he momentarily loses balance while tugging his underwear on. “Mark called me like ten times yesterday while you were taking a nap. I thought it was an emergency but he just wanted to see how I was doing too.”

“I guess it’s nice we have good friends but,” Doyoung laughs, “they all know it’s our week together.”

“Yeah,” Jungwoo says, quickly tugging on his tight white jeans, “But it’s a little different this time.”

Doyoung nods his head, knowing that it isn’t just another monthly heat and both their friend circles know it. The heat is one where they bonded, something that both of them happily told their friends about and naturally, they were all curious and excited considering the fact that they pretty much are the reason they got together. Not only that but the fact that it’s the first relationship that Doyoung has truly been happy in, is an obvious reason for his friends to get excited about the little things. Doyoung is of course more than happy to share those things with them but in his own time, a time where he’s not simply wanting to have some alone time with his alpha.

The bunny tilts his head, his fingers sliding along his neck as he examines it in the mirror, the colors still bright and angry in the spot that Jungwoo bit. It’s not as bad as before, the colors not being as vibrant but it’s still enough for him to get surprised every time he passes the mirror. Jungwoo did a good job in terms of bonding, Doyoung has discovered through his research online, his mark matching nearly a hundred pictures that he’s seen. The more time that passes, the more Doyoung begins to feel the effects of the bonding too. It’s mostly smaller things that Doyoung has noticed, little changes that suddenly realizes, like the way his mark aches when Jungwoo isn’t close enough for him to smell (specifically when he’s in the shower and Jungwoo’s scent has faded to just what’s on the bed). It’s still nothing huge, no major changes yet but it’s more of an internal connection that has started within him, his omega connected to Jungwoo’s alpha on a different level.

“You should wear a scarf,” Jungwoo says as he comes up behind Doyoung in the mirror. The alpha is wearing a simple pastel yellow shirt, one that fits nicely with his light brown hair and his cream colored ears.

“You don’t want me to show it off?” Doyoung asks, leaning his head back to look up at Jungwoo.

“I do,” Jungwoo laughs, his arms slowly wrapping around Doyoung, chin leaning against his shoulder, “But it’s cold outside.” Doyoung nods his head, his lips parting to respond when Jungwoo’s hands cup at his chest, his fingers squeezing around his soft flesh. “Hyung,” he says softly, “You’re still so swollen,” Jungwoo tilts his head, leaning his head against Doyoung’s, fingers moving up over the swell of his chest to brush against his nipples. “I feel like they normally go down by now.”

“Well they’re not going to go down if you keep playing with them,” Doyoung whines, his body arching up into Jungwoo’s hands. “And if you don’t stop right now we’re not going to be able go out and eat.”

Luckily (kind of), Jungwoo only gives Doyoung’s tits one more gracious squeeze before he pulls away completely. “Sorry,” he giggles, “I’m ready to go though once you are.”

“Let me just get a jacket and my scarf,” Doyoung smiles, turning around to lean up, pressing a gentle kiss to Jungwoo’s lips.

The rest of their week off goes by smoothly. Doyoung and Jungwoo wander out in the mornings, in the evenings, and in between. Most of the time it’s for food and other times it’s to cool Doyoung down, the bunny still experiencing the more minor effects of his heat even after his desperation and arousal has gone away. They don’t do anything in particular when they’re at home. They lay in bed and cuddle, Doyoung wanting nothing more than to just lay with Jungwoo and be in his arms, a feeling that has only increased as the week has come to an end. They start their mornings with a round of sex and end it with one too, both of them embracing the new bond that they have and both admitting that the pleasure has intensified due to it. It’s more romantic too, at least more than the last few days. They make out almost the entire time, hands intertwined and Jungwoo taking his time, dragging out their session to be much longer than it normally is, at least for Doyoung. They both whisper to each other about breeding, Jungwoo telling Doyoung how much he wants to fill him up and Doyoung nodding his head with teary eyes about how much he wants it.

The final day of Doyoung’s heat vacation is Jungwoo’s birthday.

Doyoung wakes up early, once again trying his best to not wake Jungwoo up as he attempts to make breakfast as quiet as possible. It’s not anything elaborate, Doyoung simply making a small batch of fluffy pancakes that Jungwoo has been raving about for a couple weeks now. It’s rather easy to make and Doyoung is successful in making them without waking Jungwoo up, the alpha still softly snoring when Doyoung walks over to the bed, tray of pancakes in hand. The tray gets set on the nightstand, Doyoung quietly moving the few items they have cluttered on the surface to make room. Once the tray is secure, Doyoung slips into bed, resting on his knees and leaning down to press a kiss to Jungwoo’s parted lips.

It takes a few kisses for Jungwoo to stirr, the alpha lazily pursing his lips up in a kiss. Doyoung smiles against his plump lips, one hand cupping at Jungwoo’s cheek, thumb brushing against his soft skin as they continue to exchange the softest of kisses. When Doyoung pulls away, Jungwoo smiles, eyes still closed and cheeks tinted the prettiest shade of pink. The alpha stretches, arms reaching behind him, hands bumping against the wall and exposed feet wiggling from the blanket having bunched up.

“Are these my birthday kisses?” Jungwoo says quietly, his voice slightly hoarse from sleep.

“You could say that,” Doyoung nods, letting his hand slide through Jungwoo’s hair, scratching the space between his ears, making the puppy hum happily. “I also have a birthday breakfast for you if you’re interested.”

“Breakfast?” Jungwoo perks up, his ears jolting up, making his hair fluff up with it. “Of course I’m interested.”

“Good because if you don’t eat them, I’m going to. I’m starving,” Doyoung laughs, his body settling down on the bed, legs crossing as he grabs the tray. “It’s fluffy pancakes, or at least my version,” Doyoung adds as he looks down at the tray, the once fluffy pancakes having gone somewhat flat.

“Did you make anything for yourself?” Jungwoo asks, his words slightly broken from a yawn. “Mm,” he smiles, body scooting closer to Doyoung until their hips are pressed together. “Hyung, those look amazing.”

Doyoung smiles, grabbing the fork and wiggling it against the pancakes until he gets a decent size piece away, holding it up to Jungwoo’s mouth, the other eagerly taking the food in his mouth, making a delighted sound the moment he starts chewing. “I’ll make myself something in a bit. I wanted to make you breakfast first.”

“Thank you,” Jungwoo says, his mouth opening and eyes blinking at Doyoung for another piece. Doyoung laughs, slowly cutting the pancake again and gently pushing the fork into Jungwoo’s mouth. “How are you feeling?”

“Fine,” Doyoung nods, his lips pursing out for a brief moment, “I’m pretty sure my heat is completely done.”

“That’s good,” Jungwoo says, happily taking the next piece that Doyoung feeds him. “When will we know if you’re pregnant or not?” Jungwoo asks, his one cheek full of food and bulging out.

“A couple weeks probably,” Doyoung responds, “Maybe a bit earlier?” The bunny holds another piece of food up to Jungwoo’s lips, watching the way he accepts it even though he’s not done with the previous bite. “I kind of want to ask my mom but I don’t want to spoil the surprise.”

“Mm,” Jungwoo nods, his eyes going slightly wide, hand coming up to cover his mouth, “That’s right! I bet your parents are gonna be so happy.”

“Probably,” the omega laughs, “What about your parents, do you think they’ll be happy?”

Jungwoo nods his head quickly, “Oh yeah. Well,” he sighs, “Yes and no. I think they’ll be happy that we’re bonded and everything too but I think they’d want me to wait a little longer. Then again, they both got bonded and married before they were my age so, they can’t really say anything.”

“Seriously?” Doyoung gapes, his brows furrowing together slightly at the statement.

“Mhm,” Jungwoo says, opening his mouth for another piece of pancake. “I think my mom said she was twenty when she got married? So while I think she wants me to do the more modern route of finding a proper career and getting married and stuff before kids, she always talked to me about traditions and the old school ways too.”

Doyoung bites at his lip, the fork lingering by Jungwoo’s mouth even after the alpha takes the food off of it. He lowers it down slowly, his head tilting as he lets out a sigh. In a way, Doyoung’s parents are the same. They did things the more traditional way as well, bonded and had kids young and even though his parents always told him to make sure he’s stable and able to care for a partner and family, they always made little remarks here and there about how Doyoung should start thinking about the future more, the future meaning an alpha and a litter of bunnies. It was always her dream for Doyoung to find himself a nice alpha, get bonded, and start a family and he knows she wanted it to happen sooner than it is right now. But Doyoung had always been firm on not wanting to rush and the quiet confessions he would make to her about not having the best experiences with alphas.

Now though, Doyoung has two out of the three things that his parents have wanted for him. He has an amazing alpha, one currently leaning his cheek against his shoulder, fuzzy ear tickling his own ear. There’s a fresh bond mark on his neck, one that’s taking it’s time to heal up, the mark still looking as angry as it did the second day after. And hopefully soon, Doyoung will be able to tell her that he’s expecting if things have gone well. The entire thing makes Doyoung’s cheeks blush, the reality of everything hitting him in a way it hasn’t before. This is no longer just a thought in his head. It’s no longer a conversation that he and Jungwoo have had. It’s real. Doyoung has a bond mark, Doyoung has been bred extremely thoroughly and it’ll be a real surprise if he isn’t pregnant because of it. These are all parts of life that Doyoung never thought he’d experience because he never could get the first part right.

“Doie?” Jungwoo says softly, his head pulling away from Doyoung’s shoulder. “Are you okay?”

Doyoung blinks, a tear sliding down his face, a tear that he hadn’t even realized was really there in the first place. He quickly nods, his hand reaching up to wipe away the tear fast, hoping that Jungwoo won’t notice it. “I’m fine, yeah,” Doyoung sighs, “I was just thinking is all.”

“About what?” Jungwoo asks, one hand sliding along Doyoung’s thigh.

Doyoung tilts his head, eyes meeting with Jungwoo’s. “You,” Doyoung says softly, his chest rising in a slow breath as he feels his eyes begin to swell up with tears.

Jungwoo’s face contorts into confusion and Doyoung watches the way his face changes when he realizes that Doyoung is trying to hold back tears. The alpha grabs the tray slowly, one hand patting down the blanket enough for the tray to be set down flat. “Hyung,” the younger one says as he pouts at Doyoung once he settles back in his spot.

“I’m sorry,” Doyoung sniffles with a laugh, “It’s nothing bad, I promise!”

“Then why are you crying?” Jungwoo whines, his hand reaching up to wipe at the tear that Doyoung doesn’t wipe away first.

Doyoung takes a moment to respond, wanting to make sure he won’t break out in a sob the moment he starts to speak. Jungwoo is patient, his hand sliding on top of Doyoung’s, their fingers intertwining and Doyoung looks down, seeing how the ring looks nicely as they hold hands. “I just,” the omega starts with a shaky breath, “I know we’ve talked about it before but I never thought I would have this.” Doyoung says, his eyes meeting with Jungwoo’s again. “I never thought I would have an alpha like you and be bonded and now we’re starting a family too and it’s all so-”

“Crazy?” Jungwoo says with a laugh, making Doyoung nod his head.

“Even last year, I never would have imagined it,” Doyoung sighs.

“I know, you resisted me for so long,” Jungwoo teases, his tongue sticking out for a moment before he laughs. “But Doyoung, I didn’t think this would happen either. I mean I knew I liked you the moment I saw you but all this?” Jungwoo shakes his head quickly, “It feels good though, to do all this with you, it feels natural.”

It does, it really does. All of it feels effortless, even the parts that Doyoung always thought about in disgust feel like the most right thing to do. Nothing about their relationship has felt wrong, not a single moment has Doyoung ever felt as though he had doubts of any kind. There was hesitation in the beginning, sure, but it was mostly because he was frightened to start a relationship again due to previous failures, not because he thought Jungwoo was necessarily going to be bad for him. His body even knew Jungwoo was someone special before they properly met, sending him the most powerful signal that Jungwoo was the one for him.

Jungwoo has brought so many positives in his life that Doyoung can’t imagine being without him at this point. He enjoys every part of the alpha. He likes the way he can wake up to him in the mornings, seeing his pretty sleeping face as Doyoung catches up on emails or when he can curl up against him and fall back asleep. He enjoys the fact that they can see each other throughout the day, Doyoung never once feeling as though he needs a break away from the alpha. He likes the way Jungwoo is always so excited to see him, even if it’s only been an hour or two since they separated, the puppy bouncing his way into work with the brightest smile on his face. Doyoung likes the way Jungwoo’s jokes are outrageously out there and half the time don’t make sense but still make Doyoung laugh until his stomach hurts. Then there’s the way Jungwoo cares for him, always putting him first before himself, even in situations where Jungwoo should be selfish, he’s constantly making sure Doyoung is okay before anything else. Jungwoo is sensitive to Doyoung’s concerns, not pushing him to do something he doesn’t want to or doesn’t feel comfortable doing, like days where Doyoung chooses to hide his tail instead of having it out. Doyoung enjoys the way Jungwoo likes to kiss, always peppering Doyoung with a hundred kisses throughout the day, even at times where they shouldn’t take the time to exchange them. He likes Jungwoo’s pretty nose, his plump lips, his cheeks, his eyes, his ears that tickle him in the middle of their cuddle sessions, the way Jungwoo is taller than him, the alpha’s newly formed abs that Doyoung runs his hand along whenever he can, just Jungwoo. Doyoung loves him inside and out and falling in love with him is the best thing that Doyoung has ever done in his life.

It’s not just Doyoung feeling this way either that makes the whole situation even better. Jungwoo loves him the same way, the same amount of love. The alpha constantly floods Doyoung with compliments, even on the smallest of things that don’t exactly warrant a compliment in the first place. Jungwoo makes sure that Doyoung feels loved and that’s what makes their bond stronger than any other relationship that Doyoung has ever had. Jungwoo has never once felt like just another alpha. From day one he’s felt like his alpha. Jungwoo had been invested in Doyoung, showing him that it wasn’t just for sex like the others, making sure that he knew it was because he was truly interested in him, in Doyoung as a person and not just the bunny omega.

“It feels natural,” Doyoung agrees, his hand squeezing at Jungwoo’s, “It feels so right,” the bunny says with a nod.

“I love you,” Jungwoo smiles and soon, their lips meet in a gentle kiss.

Doyoung sighs happily against Jungwoo’s lips, his hand sliding out of Jungwoo’s to wrap his arms around his shoulders, pulling the alpha closer as they kiss. “I love you too,” Doyoung says, his nose brushing against Jungwoo’s. “My alpha.”

Despite the closeness, Doyoung can see Jungwoo’s cheeks turn pink at the name. He bites down on his bottom lip for a moment before he smiles. “My omega,” he says in response, making Doyoung have the same reaction, his cheeks turning pink and a warmth blooms from inside him, spreading all throughout his chest. It even makes the mark on his neck tingle, a new feeling that Doyoung happily welcomes.

“What do you want to do today?” Doyoung asks as Jungwoo presses a kiss to his cheek. “I mean, I have something I want to do later but we have plenty of time before that.”

“Mm,” Jungwoo hums, pulling away slowly, “I don’t think I have anything in mind. Just spending the day with you.” The alpha runs his hand along Doyoung’s thigh, giving it a gracious squeeze before he pulls away. “We go back to work tomorrow so I’d be fine with just relaxing too.”

“How about a walk?” Doyoung suggests and Jungwoo’s ears immediately perk up in excitement, making Doyoung laugh. “I’ll take that as a yes.”

Jungwoo nods his head quickly, his fuzzy ears wiggling as he bounces a bit against the bed. “You know I love my walks.”

“Well, let’s get ready then,” Doyoung says, giving Jungwoo a gracious kiss against his cheek.

The weather isn’t bad for the end of February. It’s chilly of course, Doyoung finding himself burying his nose against his scarf even as they wait for the subway to come, the increased body temperature having faded away with the end of his heat. There aren’t many people out either, the subway car being fairly empty as they walk onto it, the two easily finding a seat together. Their ride isn’t long but it’s long enough for Jungwoo to get comfy against Doyoung, his head resting against Doyoung’s shoulder, one arm wrapped around his waist, and their sides being flush against each other. Doyoung leans against the puppy too, letting out a quiet laugh when the hybrid nuzzles against the scarf covering Doyoung’s neck, the younger one having obvious intent to get close to the bond mark on Doyoung.

Like the subway, the streets of Hongdae are fairly empty. There’s shopkeepers setting out their clothing displays, all of them bundled up with their breaths making little clouds as they breathe. The usually busy street food carts are still covered up, waiting for their time to shine once the evening hits. It’s quiet but it’s okay, it’s what Doyoung likes. He enjoys getting to walk peacefully, not having to be squished and shoved by crowds of tourists and high schoolers coming to ponder at all the clothing and accessories. He feels like he can breathe and he feels better about having his tail out, not having to worry about accidental bumps against it that make him nervous.

“Oh,” Jungwoo says, his hand gripping at Doyoung’s, making him stop as Jungwoo stills in front of a cafe. Doyoung tilts his head, trying to figure out what Jungwoo is looking at and the realization hits him quickly when he sees a worker inside stocking the pastry display. “Hyung,” Jungwoo says, his head turning to look at Doyoung.

“We can go in,” Doyoung smiles, his elbow nudging at Jungwoo’s side.

The puppy practically drags Doyoung inside, his eagerness making the bunny laugh, a laugh big enough for his gums to show and his head to lean back. Doyoung’s laughter fades away slowly as they enter the cafe, the smell of warm pastries and coffee filling his senses, making him sigh out much like Jungwoo does at the same time.

“Get what you want,” Doyoung says, his hand squeezing at Jungwoo’s, “Whatever we don’t eat now we can take home.”

Jungwoo happily presses a kiss to Doyoung’s forehead before he wanders off, tray in hand and before long, Doyoung notices that it’s full of goodies. Doyoung himself walks up and down the aisles of freshly baked pastries, his eyes scanning at all the different goods. The looking doesn’t last long because he soon hears his name being called from behind him.

“Doyoung?”

The bunny turns around to see the person calling his name, his voice somewhat familiar. When Doyoung turns around, he sees Johnny standing behind him, the taller one smiling, his fuzzy brown ears sticking out from his hair. “Oh, Johnny,” Doyoung says with a soft laugh, his hand coming to press against his chest. “You scared me.”

“Sorry,” Johnny says with a smile, “I wasn’t sure it was you.” The older one looks away from Doyoung for a moment, eyes scanning around before he returns his gaze to Doyoung. “Are you here alone?”

“No,” Doyoung says, “Jungwoo is-”

“Johnny!” Jungwoo quickly says, the younger one walking over to Doyoung quickly, his tray looking even fuller than before. “What are you doing here?”

“I came for breakfast,” the bear responds with a smile, his head tilting towards the register, giving it a gentle nod. “With Taeil. But hey, Jungwoo, happy birthday!” The taller one says fairly loudly, making Doyoung sputter out a laugh. “Let me pay for all that.” Doyoung quickly parts his lips to butt in, about to reply with the fact that he’s going to pay but Johnny interrupts. “Ah, I’m sure you’re going to spoil him tonight anyways.”

Doyoung lets out a quiet sigh of defeat, knowing that Johnny is right, the reservation for dinner tonight being one that he knows his wallet will take a hit at. And as much as Doyoung wants to be the one to completely spoil his alpha today, he knows that Jungwoo’s friends care about him just as much. So Doyoung doesn’t put up a fuss when Johnny insists again, even suggesting that Doyoung grab his share of goodies that he eyes as they walk up to the register.

“Jungwoo,” Taeil says as soon as they walk up behind Taeil, the smaller one having his own tray of a few pastries in front of him. “I didn’t know you’d be here too.”

“Doyoung is taking me out on a walk and I couldn’t resist when I saw the pastries,” the puppy admits with a pout.

Doyoung rolls his eyes, his arm wrapping around Jungwoo’s waist, hand rubbing at his side. “I can never resist you, especially not on your birthday.”

“You guys are the best,” Jungwoo sighs out as Johnny takes the tray from him. “Is Mark with you too?”

“No, he’s still asleep,” Taeil responds, his hand reaching out to give the cashier his card before his hand is quickly batted away by Johnny. Taeil accepts it quickly and doesn’t try to push, simply putting his card back in his wallet.

“Oh right, he was up all night playing games with Haechan right?” Jungwoo laughs, body leaning against Doyoung gently.

Johnny nods, handing Jungwoo’s tray back to him, the puppy happily taking his tray full of squishy pastries and treats. “Yeah, he was texting me at like six saying he was finally going to bed. Do you guys want to join us?”

Jungwoo tilts his head to look at Doyoung, his ears perking up a bit, an action that makes Doyoung smile. “Of course. Jungwoo’s probably happy to spend time with someone other than me.”

Jungwoo puffs his cheeks out, his elbow nudging at Doyoung’s side as they follow Johnny and Taeil to their table, their coats and bag already spread out along the chairs. It takes them a moment to rearrange things enough for Jungwoo and Doyoung to sit next to each other. Doyoung takes his jacket off slowly, letting it fall around his waist, his body scooting up closer to the edge to give his tail room to be properly fluffed. His hands go to unwrap his scarf but he pauses when he remembers about the mark that still barely looks any different than a few days ago.

“Speaking of,” Johnny says as he takes a sip of his coffee, “How are you feeling?”

Doyoung feels his cheeks turning a gentle shade of pink at the question, knowing what Johnny is referring to. It’s not that Doyoung is exactly embarrassed to talk about his heat, at least not as much as he was once he began slowly incorporating Jungwoo’s friends into his own circle. And out of everyone, Doyoung feels most comfortable with Johnny, the bear always being kind and welcoming whenever they talk (not to mention that Johnny has been a big help in some of the things regarding Jungwoo in the early stages of their relationship).

“John,” Taeil says, “You shouldn’t ask that,” the human says quietly.

“It’s okay,” Doyoung laughs out, “I know you both know about what this heat was for us.” Doyoung tilts his head, his hand reaching down under the table to press against Jungwoo’s thigh. The puppy quickly and obviously reaches his hand down to meet Doyoung’s, their fingers bumping against each other until they slide in the empty spaces. “Everything went well,” the bunny says confidently, earning a smile and nod from Jungwoo.

“It hurts, doesn’t it?” Taeil scrunches his nose up, “I don’t know if it was as painful for you as it was for me since I’m human but,” the other sucks in a sharp breath through his teeth, letting it out as a breathy laugh. “Ow.”

“No, it definitely hurt,” Doyoung adds quickly with a nod, “Probably the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced.” The bunny pauses for a moment before he shifts in his seat, his hand squeezing at Jungwoo’s for a moment. “How long did yours take to heal?”

“Probably a couple weeks,” Johnny responds instead of Taeil, “I mean even now I think it’s still a little pink.”

To emphasize the point, Johnny gently pushes down the collar of Taeil’s sweater until it reveals the spot they’re referring to. It’s rather obvious, the area that Johnny bit has the same shape as the one on Doyoung’s neck, though Taeil’s is more of a scar than a healing wound at this point. But it’s pretty much the same, the circular shape, the small dots and then two bigger ones. Seeing Taeil’s mark, makes Doyoung’s throb in gentle pain, his hand reaching up to press against it through his scarf.

“I can take a look at it if you’re worried,” Johnny says, almost as if he can sense Doyoung’s curiosity.

There’s a moment of hesitation, Doyoung not sure he’s ready to show the mark off to anyone other than Jungwoo. He wants to, he does, he wants to show off that he’s bonded now, wanting to brag about it but it’s still in the early stages and it’s still all so new. Slowly though, Doyoung begins to tug off his scarf until it falls down against his lap, Doyoung balling it up so it doesn’t brush against the floor. He can feel all three pairs of eyes on him as he tilts his head, fully exposing his neck to the group. None of them say anything for a bit and it only adds to Doyoung’s nerves, his eyes blinking as he peeks over at Jungwoo.

“No, it looks perfect,” Johnny says, “Like seriously picture perfect.” The bear lets out a laugh, “Jungwoo did a good job. It’ll probably be a few more weeks until the bruising goes down but it shouldn’t have any problem healing.”

Jungwoo lets out a sigh next to Doyoung, his shoulders slumping and his hand running through his hair. “That makes me feel a lot better,” the puppy says with a nod, “I was really nervous doing it, especially because I felt like Doyoung was in so much pain.”

“That’s the point,” Johnny adds, his cheek puffed up with part of his croissant that he’s been munching at, “Bonding isn’t supposed to be easy or nice. It’s a serious commitment and it’s meant to be painful.”

Meant to be painful, and it was. Even now it’s still sore, feeling just as bad as it looks sometimes, especially when Jungwoo nuzzles and rubs up against the spot. Doyoung tilts his head, his hand reaching up to rub at the spot gently, feeling the tinges of pain running through him as his fingers rub against the healing teeth marks.

“Jungwoo,” Taeil says, his chair grunting against the floor as he stands up, “I’m gonna go get another drink, do you want anything else?”

Doyoung watches as Jungwoo shifts in his spot for a moment before he pushes his jacket off his lap and stands up to join Taeil. “I’ll come with and look,” there’s a pause as Jungwoo looks down at Doyoung, lips parted and ready to ask a question but Doyoung quickly shakes his head before he can ask it.

Both Doyoung and Johnny watch as the two wander back over to the displays, Jungwoo staring at the collection of drinks off to the side, hands busy picking up and putting down different beverages. Doyoung’s eyes linger only for a little longer, allowing himself to focus back on his breakfast, the half eaten sandwich staring back at him. Doyoung reaches for his sandwich, fingers wrapping around it and lifting it up but he pauses just as he goes to take a bite, his eyes looking up to meet the image of Johnny sipping on his coffee.

“Johnny,” Doyoung starts, letting his hand set his sandwich back down on the plate, “Can I ask you something?”

“Of course,” Johnny says as he clears his throat, letting his straw wiggle away from his lips “What’s up?”

“You might not know the answer but,” Doyoung pauses, his teeth sinking into his bottom lip as he contemplates actually asking the question. “How long does it take for bunnies to find out they’re pregnant?” The question takes Johnny a bit off guard, his eyes widening for a moment. The bear shifts in his seat, his legs stretching out under the table, ankles gently bumping into Doyoung’s as he lets his body lean back against the chair. “I know I can look online or ask my mom but,” Doyoung laughs awkwardly, “I thought I’d ask you.”

“Well,” Johnny laughs, “I’d say a couple weeks? You might know sooner since it would have happened during your heat.”

Johnny’s answer is what Doyoung expected, it’s the thoughts he had himself and the answer he gave Jungwoo when he asked. It’s what he remembers from his educational classes, the awkward minutes of class where his teacher would talk about bunny hybrids that made Doyoung shrink into his seat since he was the only bunny in his class. It’s the same answer that Doyoung had found when he researched while Jungwoo was at school or work without him, shyly diving into a hole about bunny pregnancies long before he decided he actually wanted to have a baby with Jungwoo.

A couple weeks was what it took a few months ago during a pregnancy scare. Doyoung hadn’t thought anything of it at first, thinking that his heat symptoms were just taking a bit longer to wind down, an occurrence that is normal if there’s a strong alpha presence nearby. One day passed, two, then three, and before Doyoung knew it, he was two weeks out from his heat and his body still was acting funny. His chest had yet to settle back to normal size, his senses were heightened, and he just felt off. It wasn’t until Jaehyun had mentioned the possibility of a pregnancy that Doyoung began fitting all the pieces together of what was going on. It wasn’t impossible but definitely unlikely considering Doyoung was on birth control. Thankfully though, it was just a false pregnancy, a nasty trick that Doyoung’s bunny had played on him, a handful of tests having confirmed it wasn’t real.

“I know you’ve probably done your research,” Johnny adds, making Doyoung look up at him, his cheeks turning back to the shade of pink they had been a few minutes ago. “Just trust your instincts and if you have any questions, you can always ask me. You know,” the other laughs, taking a long and loud sip of his coffee, emptying the cup of everything but the ice. “If that’s more comfortable than asking your parents.”

“Thanks, Johnny,” Doyoung says with a smile, his attention being broken away as Jungwoo and Taeil return.

“Hyung,” Jungwoo says happily as he plops back down next to Doyoung, “I got you a fruit drink. It’s similar to the ones I get you normally.” Doyoung tilts his head, eyeing the colorful drink that Jungwoo wiggles in front of him. He takes a moment to let it settle before he opens it, sliding the bottle towards Doyoung.

The juice is sipped on slowly as they all sit and talk. It’s a bit too fruity for Doyoung, the taste being stronger than he’d like but he’s still thankful for the gesture and he eventually finishes it. The three friends don’t talk about anything in particular, just catching up on things that Doyoung doesn’t exactly know about. It doesn’t bother him though, he likes to see Jungwoo laugh and joke with his friends, especially Johnny and Taeil. In a way, the two of them are following in their footsteps. Johnny and Taeil were the first to become bonded and now Jungwoo and Doyoung are. Doyoung takes the opportunity of them being together like this to snuggle up to the younger one, his body flush against his and their hands being held under the table, not bothering to cover up the angry mark on his neck until they get up to leave.

Doyoung picks out his best clothes for their dinner date. He turns and tugs on his clothes in the mirror a little more than he usually does, making sure everything looks good for his alpha. He fluffs his tail up, trying to get it as fluffy as possible, not allowing a single hair to be out of place. Jungwoo is the same, his ears meticulously brushed until they’re perfect, outfit much more formal that Doyoung is used to and the sight makes his heart flutter at how handsome he is. The alpha whines and huffs that Doyoung looks better than him, slipping in compliment after compliment that has Doyoung’s cheeks turning red.

The restaurant isn’t the fanciest thing that’s out there. It’s no five star gourmet international restaurant that has been featured all over the place but it is a very nice buffet, something that Jungwoo had mentioned wanting to go to during the holidays. It’s the perfect place for them, being able to choose a wide variety of foods and goodies and Jungwoo can eat to his heart's content. The buffet is far more exciting than going to a proper sitdown restaurant and both Doyoung and Jungwoo’s eyes light up as they wander over to the tables full of food.

“Wow,” Jungwoo says, his voice breathy and his eyes wide and Doyoung swears he hears his stomach rumble as they grab their plates. “This place seriously has everything.”

Doyoung nods his head, his eyes scanning all the tags in front of the different trays of food. He sees traditional foods that his mom would make for him, ones he’s never seen before, dishes from different countries, literally everything. “It all looks so good too,” Doyoung sighs out happily, his hands already busy picking up pieces of meat to add to his plate. “Get as much as you want, Woo.”

“You too,” Jungwoo quickly says, adding another piece of meat to Doyoung’s plate, “You have to eat properly now.”

Doyoung flushes, his elbow bumping into Jungwoo’s as they both let out a laugh. “We don’t even know yet.”

“Yeah but still!” Jungwoo says, “You still need to eat.”

Doyoung definitely doesn’t have a problem eating and he quickly realizes that he’ll happily be going back for seconds when he gets close to finishing his first plate. Jungwoo waits for him, the puppy having finished his plate much sooner than Doyoung who takes his time. They laugh and walk together closely, practically glued at the hip as they gather food for their second plate together, both of them giggling as they settle back down at their table. They share food too, Doyoung feeding Jungwoo some of the pasta that he got on his plate that Jungwoo didn’t have room for on his own plate. Jungwoo is gracious at sharing back too, holding up food after food for Doyoung to try as well.

“This is really nice,” Doyoung sighs out, his body slumping back into his chair, his whole body feeling weighed down at the amount of food he’s eaten.

“So nice,” Jungwoo nods in agreement, finishing off the last bit on his plate. “We don’t get to go out often, at least not like this.”

“I know,” Doyoung frowns, his legs stretching out until they bump against Jungwoo’s legs. “I think before Christmas was the last time we got to really go on a date together.”

“Was it that long ago? Wow,” Jungwoo says, his tongue clicking and a breath being sucked in through his teeth, “I guess it has been that long.”

The severe lack of dates isn’t ideal, especially not in Doyoung’s mind. For someone that has been against dating for years, one of Doyoung’s favorite things to do with Jungwoo is go out together. To be fair, they go out together fairly often, both of them wandering out in the evenings if they have free time to take a walk by the river or get a quick sweet treat at the convenience store but the existence of proper dates is seriously lacking. Most of it has to do with their busy schedules, both of them working and Jungwoo also squeezing school on top of that. Jungwoo enjoys spending time with his friends too and Doyoung never makes a fuss when Jungwoo asks to go hang out with them (something he doesn’t have to do and Doyoung has told him a thousand times). But an actual date like this, the two of them making plans instead of spontaneously grabbing a bite to eat is rare.

Sitting here like they are, Doyoung and Jungwoo across from each other, both full of delicious food, makes Doyoung realize how much he enjoys going out on dates with the alpha. Jungwoo is dressed up, his hair nicely straightened and styled, ears resting cutely on top of his hair. His cheeks are slightly flushed from nursing on a fruity alcoholic drink, the alpha not even halfway done but Doyoung can see the effects starting to sink in. Jungwoo sighs happily every few minutes, his smile being so bright and radiant that Doyoung instantly smiles back at the sight of it. The light above them makes Jungwoo practically glow too, the warm colors melting against Jungwoo’s cheeks and elevate all his features to make them even more stunning.

Jungwoo tries to grab the check from Doyoung when it arrives, earning him a stern glare from Doyoung. The puppy tries to slip his card in the entire walk up to the register until Doyoung scolds him, the other finally giving up and sliding his card back in his wallet. It’s expensive for sure, possibly the most expensive dinner that Doyoung has ever paid for but there’s not one ounce of guilt when he receives his card back, the large price tag being displayed on the screen for Jungwoo to gasp at.

“Doie,” Jungwoo whines loudly, his feet stomping as they walk out of the restaurant, “You didn’t tell me it was going to be so expensive!”

“I didn’t have to!” Doyoung laughs out, his hands tightening his scarf around his neck before he does the same for Jungwoo. “I told you a hundred times, it’s your birthday and I get to spoil you today.”

“Can I atleast treat us to desert?” Jungwoo tries, his lips pursed out into a big pout as Doyoung flattens down his hair.

“No,” Doyoung says firmly, “You’re not treating us to anything tonight.”

There’s a pause and Doyoung thinks that Jungwoo has finally given up but then there’s an even bigger pout and Doyoung parts his lips, ready to say something but Jungwoo speaks first. “Not even to some birthday sex?”

“Oh my god,” Doyoung groans, finger flicking at Jungwoo’s forehead gently, “That’s different.”

Doyoung pulls away, ready to start walking towards the subway when Jungwoo wraps his arms around Doyoung, pulling him flush against him. The bunny parts his lips in a gasp, not expecting the sudden move. Jungwoo takes that opportunity to press a kiss to Doyoung’s lips, the bunny’s hands grabbing at Jungwoo’s arms, fingers being met with his puffy jacket. They kiss slowly once, twice, three, four, five times and Doyoung melts into Jungwoo as they go into their sixth. The slight concern of kissing in public like this has gone away, Doyoung eagerly kissing Jungwoo back each time, not caring that there’s probably people staring at them as they walk by. They pull away the same as they started, slowly and gently, both of them slightly flushed and out of breath. Doyoung is the one to sputter out a laugh first, his forehead bumping against Jungwoo’s shoulder, taking a moment to let his blush fade away before he pulls away.

The subway is a bit more crowded than usual. It’s later at night, just after ten, but it’s a Saturday and the cars are semi-filled with teenagers that are coming from a fun night out with their friends. They aren’t able to find a seat so Jungwoo keeps Doyoung close, his arm wrapped around his waist and holding him back against him so his tail is covered. The omega leans back against Jungwoo, allowing himself to relax, the sleepiness from dinner beginning to set in.

Doyoung lets his eyes wander, watching the way the teenagers across from them are giggling to each other, the girls bending over in laughter, hands covering their mouths in attempts to be quiet. One of them has cat ears on top of her head, a pure white color that contrasts a black tail that sneaks out from behind her at one point. The other two are free from any ears and when they get up, Doyoung doesn’t see any tails or other indications that they’re hybrids. Only moments after they leave, a couple and a child comes to take their seats. This time, it’s clear that all three are hybrids, the mother and father both having ears that Doyoung immediately recognizes as bunny ears. He watches quietly as they settle down in the seats, the child bouncing up and down in front of them, hands being held by their father. The child is a bunny too, their tail round and fluffy and a bit too big for their body, the brown puff seeming like it’s the same size as Doyoung’s.

Seeing bunny hybrids isn’t out of the ordinary even if bunnies are the more rare of the hybrid types, but there’s something about seeing them like this right now that has Doyoung’s heart fluttering and his stomach doing a flip. It’s not just Doyoung spotting a bunny out on his walk home or when he goes to pick up coffee for the kitties in the morning. It’s him seeing a family of bunnies only days after he’s tried to conceive that makes him feel all funny as if there’s static running through him. The scene in front of him is hopefully going to become a reality soon and it makes Doyoung part his lips to suck in a breath at the thought of what their child might be when and if Doyoung is to fall pregnant. There’s a possibility of them having a bunny, most likely a half bunny like Doyoung himself. They could have a puppy too, again most likely a half puppy like Jungwoo is. They could have neither, their child being born a human due to the mix of hybrid species, a more common occurrence that Doyoung knows is the more likely outcome. The odds for a proper hybrid of either a bunny or a puppy aren’t on their side and it’s a reality that Doyoung has already thought about far too much for not actually being pregnant yet. His eyes are pulled away from the family when Jungwoo taps his arm and the doors open next to them.

Doyoung finds himself out of it as they walk out of the subway station, his mind still wandering in the what ifs and could be’s as they slowly walk to Doyoung’s apartment. If Jungwoo notices, he doesn’t say anything, probably assuming Doyoung is just sleepy from all the food (which is definitely affecting him too). The bunny sticks close to Jungwoo as they settle in the elevator, Doyoung leaning against the taller one, his pheromones giving all of Doyoung’s senses a nice hug, making Doyoung feel warm inside. The pheromones fade away when they walk out, Jungwoo’s scent disappearing in the open air of the hallway and the disappearance of them make Doyoung follow Jungwoo closely, their hands intertwined and Doyoung notices the sparkle of his ring under the fluorescent lights of the hallway.

“Doie,” Jungwoo calls out as they slip off their shoes as the door dings as it locks behind them. “Do you want to get a shower with me?”

“You don’t want birthday sex anymore?” Doyoung laughs, watching as Jungwoo’s eyes light up.

“Well you seemed sleepy so I figured we could get a shower and cuddle but if you’re up for it,” Jungwoo says, teeth sinking into his bottom lip.

“Mm,” Doyoung says, his hand reaching out and grabbing Jungwoo’s hand, slowly leading the puppy to the bed. “I’ve just been thinking,” he says, hands gently pushing Jungwoo down on the bed, the younger one seated on the edge.

“About what?” Jungwoo asks, head tilting and ears perking up.

Doyoung feels his cheeks becoming tinted pink and to try and distract from that fact, he slides down on his knees, wiggling his way between Jungwoo’s legs, the alpha happily spreading them for Doyoung to move between. Jungwoo sucks in a breath when Doyoung’s hand slides up his thigh, going up, up, up, until his fingers spread along his crotch. “About what kind of hybrid our baby will be.”

Jungwoo’s lips part and much like Doyoung, there’s a faint blush that begins to bloom over his face. The alpha sucks in a breath, probably to respond to Doyoung but it gets turned into a breathy moan as Doyoung pushes his palm down against Jungwoo’s crotch, the alpha shifting his hips so he’s able to push them up against his hand. “A bunny,” Jungwoo finally says, “I want to give you a bunny.”

The confession makes Doyoung’s hand pause against Jungwoo and his heart flutter. A bunny. Doyoung wants that too, he so selfishly wants to have a bunny. The desire to have a child isn’t one that’s been around for long but now more than ever, Doyoung finds himself thinking about it day and night. It’s consumed his mind ever since the day he decided to himself that it’s what he wanted and it’s only gotten worse since his heat, his thoughts constantly trying to imagine what their future will be like. It’s not just what kind of hybrid they’ll have either, it’s everything else that will come with it too. They’ll be raising a child together, getting to help them grow and prosper, a thought that is scary at some points but exciting for most. And as selfish as it is, Doyoung wants their child to be a bunny, one that he can help grow up strong and be able to give them advice that he only learned himself during his adult years.

“A bunny,” Doyoung breathes out, his teeth sinking into his bottom lip as he nods his head, “Please give me a bunny.”

The moment Doyoung looks up at Jungwoo, meeting his alpha’s eyes, Doyoung just has this feeling that he will. That maybe he even already has one.
