Summary
The candle flame was small and yellow, a pale blue where it met the wick. They danced for Suguru, twisting and flickering, until they doubled and tripled, linking together into a chain of winking lights. Then, they settled back into their rightful shapes, leaving Suguru with a chill that walked all over his back.
Suguru shivered. It was probably the windows in the living room - he could hear cars and someone’s dog howling through the fluttering curtains.
“Ready?”
Suguru rubbed his eyes. He gave his parents a reassuring smile, then nodded excitedly. He couldn’t wait to see what presents his parents had got him that year. He had been a very good boy.

“I hope the ghost shows up at your house,” Suguru grumbles, and Satoru’s visibly taken aback, stopping on the sidewalk with his mouth unlatched into an offended 'O'.
He recovers quickly though, letting go of his bag’s straps and pointing a finger at Suguru.
“I’m not the one who saw it,” Satoru reasons, smug.
But Suguru whips around and jabs a finger into Satoru’s chest, “So you believe me, you believe there’s a ghost!”
