Summary
Adora feels a slow burn in her gut—it's been there all day, really all week building up to this, but now there's no ignoring it. This scene is something she's wanted for ages now—something she wished for silently for a long time, and then, when she found the courage, asked for it openly.
Catra was hesitant for a long time. Even now, when Catra came to tie her up, Adora half expects Catra to back out. Instead, Catra barely looks at her as she carefully ties Adora's arms, asking about her comfort before throwing her teasing smirk and promising to be back. She's not sure if Catra is actually doing something else right now or just toying with Adora, letting her take in the scene.
Her shoulders are stretched, not enough to hurt but she can't move her arms from behind her back. She's tied to a column and all she can do is lean forward, but only if she spreads her knees more.
It’s the exact position she found herself in years ago, when Catra captured her in the Crimson Waste.

She'd wanted to argue with her father, to oppose the annulment until she was blue in the face, but she couldn't. Not without knowing if this is what Catra wants.
"So ... that's it then?" Catra shakes her head, lips pursed. "We're married and then tomorrow we aren't?"
Adora clenches her hands, her stomach rolling with nausea at the thought. "If that's what you want." She tries to meet Catra's eyes, but it’s too hard. "You don't have to be here against your will."
Perhaps she’s being unfair. Adora didn’t have to move to a new land full of strangers. She got to keep her life exactly as it was save for their union. If Catra wishes for her life in Halfmoon—the life she’s always known—Adora will have to find it in herself not to blame her for it.
It doesn’t make it an easy task. Adora almost feels like she's not in her own body—like she's floating above them in the moment, watching as this precious, tender thing she thought she had collapses before her.
She flinches when she feels Catra's hand on her own, not expecting it. She raises her gaze from the lush carpet to find Catra's eyes full of tears. "What if I don't want that? What if I wanted to stay?"

She breaks off the kiss and looks at Catra with soft, concerned eyes. "Slow down." She grabs Catra's wrist placing a soft kiss on it before holding her palm to Adora's cheek. "What has you riled?"
Catra lets her other hand drop from Adora's shirt, suddenly embarrassed under the scrutiny. "I thought you liked it when I took charge?"
She lets out a soft chuckle. "Of course I do." She offers, agreeable as ever. "But you feel ... on edge?" Adora pops a soft kiss on her forehead, her blue eyes scanning Catra's face. "I just want to know what has you uneased."
"Adora." She gives her a trying look. "We have to. It's been eight months, and we still don't have an heir."
The pressure is mounting from all sides. Every letter she receives from Halfmoon asks if either she or Adora have fallen pregnant, every council meeting starts with an update on the state of affairs in their bedroom, and the Queen of Eternia has taken to having lunches with Catra dropping hints about the grandchildren she's sure will be on the way any moment now.
Adora lets out a sigh. "I know that darling."

"It'll be weird, we won't have to see each other that often anymore." Catra comments idly, her voice carrying although she's still facing the opposite way.
Adora's fingers stutter on her back. She doesn't want to stop, could never want to be anything but Catra's ever again. She's as sure about it as she's ever been about anything else. But Catra would say if she wanted Adora, wouldn't she? She shouldn't alienate her friend in the hope of something more.
She's apparently been stuck in her own thoughts for too long because Catra turns around so they are face to face, lying on their side. "Adora?" She asks carefully. "You alright?"
Fuck it. Catra's staring at her with those big beautiful eyes and her heart feels like it's clenched into a fist and turning to ash in her chest. There's no avoiding this. "I—what if we still saw each other? What if we...wanted to?"

Adora bites her lip. "But you're..." her eyes trail over Catra's frame slowly first from her face down and then back up. "You're so hot." She breathes out.
"Well, I think the same thing about you." She pulls Adora close leaning in to whisper in her ear. "After our third date, I came screaming your name while I touched myself."
It's a little bit of an exaggeration, but honestly not by much—Adora had been free with her affection that day and after kissing for a good twenty minutes by Catra's front door, she was more than a little pent up. Now that they've been together for a few months, Catra doesn't feel bad admitting it.
She catches Adora's eyes and their narrowed on her lips. But instead of kissing her like Catra expects—like she desperately wants—she pulls back, a cocky grin forming on her face. "If you've jerked off thinking about me, maybe I can get a demonstration?"
