“The townspeople say it’s a monster. C’mon, the sooner we brief Aqua, the sooner we can leave. You’re coming, right?”
Riku can’t immediately think of the last time he’d been on a mission with Sora. With just Sora - probably not since before Sora had begun taking on students. Just the thought of fighting side-by-side sends a little thrill up his spine; crossing keyblades in practice is not the same as sharing keyblades against a real enemy. Riku finds himself craving that connection more and more each time Sora boards the Gummi Ship without him.

Masters Riku and Sora have settled into life at the Land of Departure, training a new era of Keyblade wielders. Having leaped directly from best friends to more, the worst they ever deal with nowadays is being apart. On a visit to a world called Albion, Sora discovers that it's under threat from a monster known as the Questing Beast. As he and Riku set out to find adventure in the fabled Camelot, they embark on a journey that will open old wounds and test the strength of their relationship.

Summary
Sora and Riku were the greatest senior disciples of the Jiang Sect in their home of Destiny Islands. They were the best of friends, until the threat of a fifth sect, known as the Wen Sect, forced the Jiang Sect to test and find a new sect leader. Riku was banished when he was discovered to possess darkness, something the sect does not tolerate.
Years later, stuck between his duty and his heart, Sora tries to find his childhood friend and reconcile the fragile feelings between them, all in the middle of a war.
