Chapter Text

It’s a blank that draws in his mind when he hears the voice, his mind was all loud shouting and he hadn’t expected anyone to actually drive by. Anyone to notice in the dark, notice his figure sitting on the railing that looked over the rushing Han river hundreds of feet below. His wrists are still bleeding and his head hurts from the pills he took earlier.

“Maybe mom will be happy to see me.” Namjoon smiles his newly pink hair is dry and dead as fuck, wet and brushing against his eyelashes.

Mom would see him, he’d wake up after drowning, after the water filled his lungs and he felt like he was burning from the inside. He’d see his mom, she’d hug him tell him she was so happy he finally joined her.

Namjoon begins to stand a hand resting above him holding him straight on a rail. He braces himself looking at the darkness below he can’t see the water really, it’s too dark. But he can hear the raging rapids of the river slamming into the pillars of the highway bridge. If the fall doesn’t kill him poor swimming skills that lead to drowning will.

And he’s okay with that, “I’m okay. With dying today. I’m okay with that.” Left leg first swoops off the railing his hand lets go of the support beam, he begins to fall forward when he feels himself being grabbed.

Someone latches onto his mid waist for dear life, and he’s on the ground face forward in seconds strong arms around his middle as someone says.

“Don’t struggle! I’m a police officer don’t move it won’t do you any good!” The voice is rough and Namjoon is surprised because he doesn’t struggle he just lays there.

Lets them hold onto him, and finally he is brought to his feet they grip his arm tightly as if afraid he might run back over and try again. He can see them now, slightly grown in facial hair and dark raven hair, they stand tall back straight and gaze piercing into his own.

“May I ask you what you were doing sir?” The officer doesn’t stop staring, the eye contact doesn’t stop.

“What did it look like I was doing I’m tired. Why am I still here, I’m so exhausted I’m ready to go. Why would you do this to me?” Namjoon grunts and the officer sighs deeply as footsteps approach, another officer skinnier with lighter hair.

He sighs deeply trying to catch his breath before speaking. “Jungkook! You got him, thank god.”

Namjoon rolls his eyes at the males relief. What the hell does this have to do with these two? Shouldn’t they just mind their own damn business? “Hmph.”

Jungkook his supposed savior speaks. “What’s your name?”

“Why do you want to know?”

“You want me to take you straight to jail and find out then?”

“You can’t jail me for this?”

“Actually. We can, attempting suicide is against the law.” The new comer says crossing his arms, Namjoon stares at them stunned.

“You have to be fuckin’ kidding me…”

“Your name?” Jungkook says gripping the man's other arm.

“Kim Namjoon.”

“Wait- as in the billionaire model Kim Namjoon?”

“What, wait, what’re you talking about Taehyung?”

“He was on the news! I knew I recognized him! You’re Kim Namjoon the model guy with the high IQ!”

Jungkook recognizes the guy’s name too and recalls his friend Jimin freaking out because of a picture or something that Namjoon featured on something about his crush Agust D and Kim Namjoon modeling in a magazine together and him spazzing about it.

“Uh, why… Why were you trying to kill yourself Namjoon?”

“Well that’s a bit personal don't you think? Listen, I can give you money, how much do you need to forget about this?”

Namjoon is surprised however when he’s being turned around and handcuffed. “We’re taking you to the station, I follow protocol. C’mon Tae.” Jungkook pushes the man forward and Taehyung smiles in awe at the younger.

“So cool…”

Later

“He needs to be taken to a place where people can help him.” Jungkook says sternly and their boss sighs leaning forward.

“Look, my hands are tied Jeon, they called up some guy in higher ranks. This guy’s entertainment company has some political powers.”

“Chief! This is law! Not politics you and I both know something is clearly wrong with that man if he’s-”

“I’d appreciate if you didn’t speak of MY client: Mr. Kim like that.” A tall woman with long brown hair says crossly. She’s dressed all prim and proper, looks like a million bucks and Jungkook wonders if she just sleeps like that waiting for her clients to call.

“Yeah well your client tried to jump off a bridge lady. He’s clearly sick and needs help, not you ignoring his attempt of suicide and throwing him back into your celebrity shit show, bitch.” Jungkook glares and the woman’s eyes widen a hand pushing long locks over her shoulder.

“What did you just say? You think I’m a bitch? I’m doing my job!” The glass walls of the office vibrate and at this point everyone in the building can hear even Namjoon who is watching the other officer Taehyung play starcraft on his work computer.

“Yeah well you fucking suck at it.” Jungkook mutters and one of Namjoon’s managers enter holding a bunch of paperwork in an obvious rush.

“This should get him out, it’s a signed release form.”

The old man takes it pushing his glasses up his nose as he stares at the papers scanning them. “They’re legit, signed and everything Jeon.”

“Don’t do this too him. He needs help.” Jungkook says staring at both the gorgeous woman and the plump manager.

“Do this too him? More like he’s doing this to me! This is how many times this year now? Seven?” The woman yells in frustration and the manager attempts to soothe her with hushed whispers and apologies.

“Seventh? He’s tried to off himself seven times… And you’ve done nothing!” Jungkook shouts back and the woman lets out a loud yell in frustration her fists balled at her sides.

“Please Ms. Lee let’s all calm down okay?” The manager pats her back but this only further enrages her.

“That idiot keeps doing this! For no reason! That idiot has no reason to make my job so difficult and strenuous!”

“Am I going home now?” It’s said idiot wearing what Jungkook recognizes as a neck pillow, and house slippers. Who the hell game him that stuff? This was a police station not a spa!

“Yes, of course Mr. Kim don’t worry. We’ll be on our way in a few minutes you must be exhausted! Why don’t you go wait in that chair!” Ms. Lee says sweetly and Namjoon holds out a hand.

“Can I have my phone. I want to play games.” The manager nods grabbing it from his pocket and handing it to the cotton candy haired man who leaves after satisfied.

“Listen, the company is well aware of Namjoon’s… Little issue alright? We got this. We’ll take care of it, watch him closely from now on okay? This isn’t your business anyways I get it you’re a police officer but, come on. He’s just another guy on a bridge in the end please forget about all of this. And don’t tell any press either. Or we will press charges.” Ms. Lee smacks her lips the red lipstick popping against her pale skin.

“Jeon, let it go.”

“But chief.”

“You’ll get another chance, let's stop it here”

“Yeah. Alright. Next time. If he even lives next time.”

Jungkook glares at the woman pointedly and the manager runs out of the room to gather Namjoon and get him to their van. Jungkook follows the two adults lugging the model behind them, Namjoon turns to him and for a moment Jungkook feels stunned because the man smiles. And he’s never seen dimples that stunning before, not once in his life.
