Chapter 1: Monday, the First Boy

Chapter Text

Enough was enough, maybe Kacchan was right, I didn't deserve to be a hero. Heros had amazing quirks that could protect people on command, no matter what. They wouldn't let anyone be harmed, but me? I'm a worthless Deku. Quirkless, useless, worthless, shitty Deku. There was no place for a person like to me exist. So I did the one smart thing I have ever done with my life.

I decided to heed Kacchan's advice and rid the world of my existence.

I just wasn't expecting someone to already be there.

I clench my fists together as anger courses through me. It made me angry that someone got here before me! I was the only person who was going to end their suffering today!

"Hey! Don't do it, there's no point!" I shouted to him in hopes of gaining his attention. It seemed to do the trick as he turned towards me.

The boy looked similar to me, curly black-green hair. Same height. Same emerald green eyes, except he wore glasses.

Deciding to head towards him, I continue to speak.

"What are you doing out here for? Did something happen to you to make you come up here?"

A sigh left the boy as he looks away from me and down at the world. I followed his eyes until they landed upon Kacchan. He was with his "friends", probably heading to the main town to buy some stuff or do whatever they wanted to do. I never bothered to learn Kacchan's schedule because I didn't want to encounter him and get beaten up again.

"I always thought we would be friends. I don't know what I did to him to make him hate me. We were the best of friends up until that day on the creek side. Then everything changed...I don't have the courage to try and repair this broken friendship of ours. So I came up here to rid myself of that feeling."

A pout found its way on my lips. For some reason that made me even angrier. How dare he say that! It was such a selfish thing to do! End yourself because you couldn't be with your friend anymore! Just because one person didn't care, well there are plenty of others in this world who do care. Even if they don't show it off...

"Are you serious? I can't believe you want to do something like this because you can't be friends anymore! You're lucky that you weren't robbed of anything you know? So, just because his friendship was taken away from you, it doesn't mean you should kill yourself over it. There's always other people in the world who would love to be your friend!"

He couldn't seem to look me in the eye after what I said. Did I strike a nerve? I don't know. Something about what I said must've really hurt him. I hoped I wasn't too harsh on him.

He finally looked me in the eye and said, "Thank you for listening. I feel much better knowing someone at least talked to me. It's nice knowing there are good hearted people in this world. Maybe, someone can take after you, someone who can really be a hero." Looking away from me, he jumps and disappears.

I don't know what he meant. Did I sound like a hero to him? Someone who really and honestly cares? Today wasn't the day for me. I feel renewed after talking to him. It feels good knowing I managed to talk someone out of such a thing.

Walking away from the ledge; I decide to head home for the day. Hopefully I won't run into Kacchan. I don't need anymore wounds to cover up today.

It seems life really hates me. Just as I was about to turn the corner for home, I ended up bumping into Kacchan. He blew up at me like he always did. Asking me why I didn't listen to him and everything. I ended up with a brand new burn mark on my shoulder because of him. How was I going to hide it? Mom would surely notice it... I just had to do my best for her.

Finally I was inside my house, bidding hello to my Mom, and heading to my room. Pulling off my coat to dress my wound, I squeaked at the look at it. Kacchan was really ruthless to me. It was only a second degree burn, and so I had to open it up to drain the fluids that was steadily rising in it. Gross. I hated doing this nearly everyday. Finally draining it and dressing it to the best of my abilities was just horrendous. I wish know had burn cream or something! Then this would heal better.

After eating dinner with my mother and talking about our day (I left out the part about Kacchan hurting me), we bid our good nights and headed off to bed. I couldn't sleep and I just stared at the ceiling. Thinking about everything up until Kacchan. Kacchan was right. I couldn't stay here anymore. I had to do it. It was the only logical thing in this world for a quirkless loser like me.

Kacchan was always right. Even when we were kids. That's why I always listened to him and did whatever he wanted me to do. Why was this so hard to do? I knew I wanted to end this, but something was holding me. What? Was it that guy on the roof? Did his words really affect me that much? I may not be able to mend our strained friendship, but maybe I could do something else.

Shaking my head, I decide to close my eyes as I came to my final conclusion.

Tomorrow would be the day I finally heed his advice. Tomorrow would be the day that quirkless Midoriya Izuku would finally rid the world of his existence. I wouldn't hold anyone back now and Kacchan could finally be the hero he always wanted to be.

Yeah, that didn't sound too bad. After school, I will finally jump.
