“Damn it, Harry, I’m capable of taking care of myself!”
He’s created a system as he tears into his boyfriend. The sink the younger boy is sitting on is painted with smears of red and the mirror holds a few droplets as well. Luckily, Harry’s face is looking much better. Dozens of napkins litter the area.
Wet the napkin.
Clean the wound.
Repeat. Dispose of napkin. Remember to not give one solid fuck when Harry flinches because he brought this on himself.
“I know,” is all that is said in response. It’s the only thing that has been uttered through his swollen and cut lips actually. Niall didn’t know what to say.
“Then why did you think you need to take that guy?” Niall set down the now red napkin and just stared, waiting for a response.
Harry had removed his shirt to keep it clean, so he sat on the edge of the counter with nothing but ripped black skinny jeans and tattoos covering his skin. His shoulders were slumped in defeat, his hair was slightly damp with sweat on his forehead and his mouth was set in a pout. It was a pitiful picture.
“I don’t like sharing what’s mine. That guy was all over you.” This made Niall roll his eyes with familiarity. He idly wondered if Harry knew he sounded like a sour toddler.
“Exactly, he was all over me. Not the other way around. How many times do I have to tell you there is no way you’re going to lose me, idiot.”
The last paper towel was thrown in the trash as Harry smiled. Niall gave an incredulous look when he spotted it.
“What are you smiling about?”
“It sounds like you love me,” Harry says, giving Niall a look like he’s caught the blond with his hand in the biscuit tin. Niall wanted to laugh, in fact he gave in and let the giggles burst from his lips. He tried to talk in between them but couldn’t. It was making Harry nervous and his previous smile was dropping.
“You.” Niall paused to try and catch his breath from a new round of laughter. “You know you didn’t have to nearly get your face rearranged to hear me say that I love you and only you, right?”
Harry smile returned full force and they laugh together even though it hurts Harry as the bruises make themselves known around his ribcage from being thrown to the ground, and his split lip burns from the well-aimed jabs.
“Next time let’s skip the bar fight and get straight to the pint.” Niall says, wiping a tear from his eye. Harry nodded and dragged Niall by his belt loops until he was standing in between Harry’s legs.
“I did it because I love you,” Harry reasoned again, a scolded child’s look gracing his features.
It was Niall turn to say, “I know.”
Harry leaned in for a kiss and the salty, metallic taste of blood mingled between their lips along with occasional giggles and moans. They were eventually kicked out of the club only to continue at their shared flat.
