Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

He opened his eyes and saw the cool void swim around him, taking every second in and out. Holding his breath for a long time, Jimin felt at peace in the water, he felt relaxed and had escaped from the looming duty awaiting him. His eyes stared into an empty space, expecting nothing like always, always the second thought or last resort. His father saw him as an accessory to the kingdom, a pretty face and someone to promote the kingdom to others. Jimin was a prince, an heir to the kingdom of Orcus and has lived in luxury and royalty all his life. It’s a life many others would kill for, but it never felt like a life to Jimin.

A life for Jimin is one where you choose your path, it’s about what you want to do and how you will make an impact in this world. It’s about finding your dream job and following your deepest desires and passions. One where you make friends and companions for life, where you create a family no matter if they’re blood related or not. But for Jimin, the most desirable and important thing he would want in his ‘perfect’ life is the one person that he would fall deeply in love with. He wouldn’t care what their background was or who they are, he just wants to find the one who he will love and care for until the end of the universe.

He wanted it, but he couldn’t as he had duties and roles to fulfil according to his father, who never really cared for Jimin’s at all other than his role as a prince. As a prince he must represent his kingdom and people at very boring events. Quote on quote ‘get to know’ other royalty and families which was just a power play so the kingdom of Orcus had more allies over the kingdom of Yeoubi, who have been in a feud for many centuries. Jimin never knew why there was an argument in the first place. It was something to do with land or along the lines of that, but he was always told by his father that Yeoubi is the enemy, you must not ever trust or side with any person that comes from that kingdom’ so naturally he believed him.

Those were the days where the King could be known as a loving father that Jimin missed so much. Even if he didn’t give Jimin or his brother Yoongi his full attention due to being busy all the time, he always made time to treat them with care. They were also the days when Jimin’s mother, the queen, was still alive. A beautiful woman by both appearance and soul, one of the greatest human beings to ever grace the earth to Jimin. She was really the heart of the kingdom and kept everyone humble and kind; Jimin had always admired this and strived to be like her when he was older. When Jimin was 12, she suddenly fell ill with a fatal disease and passed away soon after. The kingdom fell into a deep mourning period and soon the light and the heart of the people were corrupted with darkness and sin. It happened so suddenly. Too soon anyone thought that it was almost too horrible to be true. And even some speculated that there was more to the queen ‘s death than what was shown. However, people who theorised were soon silenced as according to the royal guards ‘the King didn’t want to dwell or hear about the tragic death of his late wife’ and soon, mostly everyone moved on. However theories never die.

Jimin was thinking about his mother’s death again as he lay in the bathtub, the water rising up to his nose. Thinking about his mother’s radiant smile and warm eyes. He missed her every second of every day. It was painful to always think what he would be doing right now if his mother was still alive. Would he still be painting with her as they laughed every time Jimin would make a mistake? Would he be absolutely mesmerized watching his mother teach him how to dance even better than he already was? Would he be listening to her tales and stories with his brother in front of the fireplace? Hot cocoa in his hands to keep him warm with their father completing paperwork in the background, whilst secretly eavesdropping to reminisce over the past. It was painful to think of these alternate timelines as he knew that no matter how much his mind would wonder, they would never come true.

He rose from the water taking a deep breath and came back to reality. He shook the remaining droplets of water on his face off and rubbed his hands through his hair. He decided it was probably time to get out therefore he stepped out of the bathtub, dried himself and made his way to his bedroom. The moon shone high in the night sky, crashing through the glass windows Jimin walked past. He glanced at the moon and wondered who else in that moment was also staring at it, maybe someone who he was destined to meet with as he would remember his mother would say in her old tales. But reality wouldn’t allow that to happen to Jimin.

He entered his bedroom, which was sprinkled with glitter due to the moonlight shining into his room. He suddenly felt a cool breeze run up his back.

“Shit” He exclaimed realising he had left the biggest window in his room open again. Jimin laughed at himself knowing it was a bad habit of his. But before closing it, he looked at the moon one more time and closed his eyes. He always felt he had a special connection with the moon ever since he was a young boy. There wasn’t really an explanation why he felt so drawn to it. Maybe he always felt it was a safe space for him. As if no one could see or disturb him when he was looking at it.

Finally getting into bed, Jimin started to write in his journal. He did the usual, go over his schedule for tomorrow which was normally busy with boring duties. He also wrote extra information for the week ahead. But what was most important to him was to write down his desires in a poetic form.

Jimin. I was looking for you all over!”

But that’s when he was interrupted by his assistant, but as he mainly knew him: his best friend.

“Christ Tae. You’re gonna give me a heart attack if you slam the fucking door open like that and interrupt me. Also where the hell do you think I’d be but my bedroom ?”

“Oh I’m soo sorry” Tae sarcastically replied  “ Were you so *deep* in thought again? Did I ruin your ‘escapism’ moment where you dwell on your wishes even though they’re never going to happen?”

Jimin stared at him in a way that was equivalent to a death threat.

“Ummm, you don’t have to go that hard on me though.” Jimin replied as he crossed his arms.

“They’re your words. Not mine, love” Taehyung smiled menacingly, but it was supposed to be in a friendly way.

Jimin rolled his eyes and then smiled as well. Taehyung was one of the only people that kept him going and gave Jimin some hope. He always understood Jimin as well as putting him in his place when Jimin was dreaming too much. Luckily, Taehyung had worked and lived in the palace for many years along with his family, so he and Jimin went back to the palace since they were children. His parents were offered a job at the palace which also required them to live there as well. Meaning that it was destined for Taehyung and Jimin to meet and to become best friends. It was also reassuring to have a loyal friend who will always stick by you despite the way you're treated and perceived by the whole kingdom.

“Alright then” Jimin sighed knowing Taehyung was here for reasons other than checking up on him. “What are you here to tell me then? Surely it has to be important if you’re interrupting me at a time like this?” He nodded towards the clock as it had struck 2am in the morning. Taehyung only just realised how behind schedule he was. His workaholic lifestyle constantly made him get ahead of himself a lot of the time.

‘“Oh yeah...About that” Tae paused for a second trying to think how he could break the news to Jimin in the best way.

“The king, I mean your father is planning for you and Yoongi to go to this grand ball or something like that at the Fiore kingdom. Apparently he was invited but he’s deciding this duty would be mainly for you and Yoongi as you are now old enough to both represent the kingdom properly. I think that’s what he said anyways. I can’t really remember to be honest, but what I do know is that it’s really important for you to go. Your father will talk to you about it tomorrow”

“Damn, it must be important if my father's actually interested in my role in this. I don’t know if his idea will be a good or bad thing for me. You know how the kingdom doesn’t take to me kindly” Jimin exclaimed anxiously. Whilst he was intrigued by the idea of going to a ball, especially at the Fiore kingdom, he knew this could also easily backfire on him.

Jimin, despite having no control over it, didn’t have the best image in the Orcus kingdom. With him having a lack of opportunities to do anything such as Royal Duties or representing the kingdom at events, the people of Orcus believed he was a selfish brat who would refuse to do anything for the kingdom. People believed that he wasted this power of being a prince when in actual fact he was completely the opposite. But he had no control over what he did due to his father constantly underestimating him and his ability to be a prince.

Yoongi would try every time to convince his father to give Jimin a role in an event or a seat at the table during government meetings. However his father would never allow it. There was no reason why, Jimin just wasn’t allowed any say in what he could do.

It was the thing that drained the youngest prince the most as being ridiculed and shamed for something and being someone that isn’t even you can feel like the most dehumanising thing. Jimin tried not to think about it too much because he knew that overall he was in a much better position than most people in Orcus due to the kingdom's extremely poor wealth gap. Some of the assumptions could be out of jealousy but at the end of the day it still hurt.

Jimin just wanted to have a larger role in the kingdom than just being there. Instead of a puppet for show. He just wanted to help make the kingdom and the outer land a better place but it was clear that the government and the King had other plans.

“I’m sure it will be alright. I think you’re just nervous about doing something as big as this for the first time Min” Taehyung reassures him by sitting next to his friend, sliding an arm around his back and pulling him close into a comforting hug. “I know you’ve waited to do something like this for a long time, and you are allowed to be excited by that. But of course you’re nervous because you want to prove something to not only the kingdom, but to your father as well. So you don’t want to mess it up, do you?”

“You can always see right through me Tae”

“It’s because I care about you and your well-being. I know it’s my job but it doesn’t matter to me cause I will always listen and support you, whether it’s my job or not” Taehyung smiled at him. Jimin started to smile back, feeling moved but relieved at what Taehyung said. However his smile turned quickly into a yawn which reminded both of them that it was literally the middle of the night.

“I think I should probably go to bed. I promise I will feel better in the morning, I promise” Adding an extra promise, he waved his pinky finger at Taehyung to indicate that he was serious about his promise.

Taehyung then waved his pinky back and replied “Mine’s bigger” as he knew it would wind his friend up.

“UGH, you can never let me live that down can you!” Jimin groaned, giving a grumpy side eye to his own pinky.

“I’m joking Min, you need sleep so please go to bed now. Also be up and ready by nine tomorrow cause you’ll have an outfit fitting for the ball tomorrow”

“Oh glorious” J imin sighed, but soon after, sleep decided to take him over. As Taehyung left, the moon shone straight into Jimin’s room, as if it had been watching over him the whole time. And who knows who else the moon was watching at the same time

They were told to meet in the usual designer's shop on the outskirts of the kingdom. Most of the kingdom was in a bedraggled state but parts of the outskirts showed the opposite. It was where the rich thrived and lived off the wealth and money made by the kingdom. That’s where they were headed as the appointed designer for the princes was one of the best in the land.

At the moment, it was only him, Taehyung, Namjoon and Yoongi who were there. Currently sitting in a peaceful silence waiting to see what the designer had made for them.

Looking around the room full of lavish and luxurious living, Jimin was probably looking at some of the most expensive and rich suits in his life. There were ones with linings engraved with gold, silver and drops of jewels that sat perfectly on fabrics of silk, velvet and satin. Even as a prince, he felt that he wasn’t noble enough to even touch these pieces of clothes. His father really wanted the designer to go all out on them. This ball must be extremely important.

Jimin and his brother were both then called to go into the fitting rooms to start the styling. His brother gave him a reassuring glance before going in as he knew that Jimin could get anxious easily in situations like these. Jimin was always thankful he had a brother that was Yoongi.

Yoongi was two years older than Jimin and he was the heir to the throne of the Orcus kingdom. Ever since he was born, Yoongi was raised to become a king and successor to his father. Meaning he was trained to believe and behave as his father did: to be focused on his duty and role as well as to serve his kingdom and people at all costs, even if that meant to throw all morals away.  To not care too much for others and to put yourself and the kingdom first over everything else. However, it never worked completely on Yoongi. Luckily, he was also raised by his mother’s grace and humility. Yoongi understood that he could think for himself and understood that many of the kingdom’s schemes created by the government, including his father, were completely unethical and inhumane. Whilst he couldn’t stop them, he vowed to himself and made a promise to his mother and brother that when he became king, he would undo all the wrong done to the people of the kingdom.

“Are you excited to try on some suits then?” Jimin exclaimed unenthusiastically at his brother. Trying to create small talk to fill in the void of uncomfortable silence.

“I mean, it can’t be as bad as last time right? What they gave me should never be seen by the light of day again.” Yoongi replied, not wanting to picture that disgusting suit he was given last ball.

“Oh God”

“I know”

“Why did you have to remind me?”

“I mean you were there laughing and not helping at all”

“But it was absolute shit, I don’t know how they got away with that it was too funny”

“Yep”

“And then the ruffles just looked like if a duck was strangled to death and-”

“Jimin, I get the fucking point my god!” Yoongi laughed, but also grimaced at Jimin’s extremely detailed description.

Yoongi and Jimin were close, but only just in private where people couldn't see them as they would usually just chat shit about the king. Yoongi deeply cared for Jimin and was constantly protective over him as well. It wasn’t just the ingrained protective sibling behaviour big brothers have, Jimin was constantly undermined by everyone and Yoongi despised that.

But other than that, unfortunately, they don’t see each other as much. Their schedules would rarely allow them to meet or to hang out and if they did have time, somehow they weren’t permitted to see each other. Yoongi would be whisked away to some royal duty and Jimin would be locked up in his room again. That’s why in moments like these, they would make the most of it.

“It looks... interesting...in here.” Yoongi commented trying to be as nice as possible to the hideous outfits surrounding them. He turned around to a shocking sight.

“Surely you’re not wearing that?” Yoongi exclaimed disgusted at the maroon coloured suit Jimin was trying on. Jimin turned around at him, challenging Yoongi’s shocked look with a completely flabbergasted expression.

You really think I’d wear this to an important event? Are you alright?” Jimin replied sarcastically however he was genuinely concerned that Yoongi thought he would ever wear a suit like that. He then quickly looked around to see if the designers were still here cause he didn’t want to hurt their feelings.

“These suits are fucking ugly, I’m sorry”

This led both of them to laugh hysterically, gasping for air and wheezing cause they were both thinking the same thing. Whilst they didn’t get to show it all the time, they really were siblings.

However, Yoongi’s mind was then reminded of what he was also here for, and what he knew that Jimin didn’t. It was really a damper to the mood when he remembered what the king had told him.

“Jimin, on a serious note. I have an eerie feeling of what the king- our father is planning for the party and what he wants us to do. He’s been quite secretive about it and normally he would definitely tell me or at least Namjoon, but he hasn’t said a word at all”  His expression had suddenly turned to worry and Jimin could sense the seriousness of what Yoongi was saying which worried him as well. Jimin nodded towards him and sat down to listen.

Yoongi didn’t want to tell Jimin straight away the news of what was going on. He tried covering it up with small white lies that he didn’t know or his father didn’t tell him so he could try to sugar coat the situation. He didn’t want to stress out his brother.

“Apparently the king and queen of Fiore are inviting every kingdom, powerful families and businesses to this ball. It’s going to be the biggest event we’ve been to. Not only in size but in terms of importance as well. So I have a feeling the king is wanting to make us look the best, to show off and impress everyone. All to do with status and to make strong connections as well.” Yoongi continued to explain.

Jimin sighed for what felt like the hundredth time today. “Okay. So basically father is basically using us as a pawn in his game as normal.” He almost laughed as he was not surprised that his father was planning to use him as an accessory for the kingdom again, not an actual representation for the kingdom.

“Yoongi, to be honest, by now I’m really used to be used as an item, so I don’t know how this is’-

“The Yeoubi kingdom will there”

“Oh. Oh shit. Okay”

“Well most likely anyway. If Fiore is inviting every kingdom in the close area, Yeoubi has to be there right? The king is probably extra ticked off by this meaning he will use everything in his power to come out on top despite there being no competition. And yes we’ll be dragged into this by being used as pawns in his plans probably.”

“Fuck” Jimin exclaimed as he realised how much more stressful this event would be.

“There’s going to be so much tension, isn’t there? All the media would want to know about it as well to get a front page story on this so-called historical feud. God this is going to be an absolute disaster.” Jimin bit his lip in frustration and ran his fingers through his hair. Yoongi stepped towards Jimin and sat down, he then took Jimin’s hands and looked straight into his eyes. He knew that he had to rip the plaster off and tell Jimin the news he knew. Even if it would destroy his brother.

“Jimin, there-erm” This was going to be harder than he thought. “There might be something else you might need to know as well”

“What? What do you mean?”

“Well….basically.” Yoongi was grasping at words that would help explain the best but they weren’t appearing.

“Yoongi what is it?”

‘God, I really hope I’m wrong but Jimin, I think that-‘

Before Yoongi could finish, they both heard voices coming from the other side of the door. Loud footsteps were coming nearer and both princes knew it could be only one thing.

The door suddenly slammed open and in walked the King. He has his usual stern look painted on his face with no sign of budging. Behind the king, two other guards, and to Yoongi’s relief Namjoon was also there. However, Namjoon also had a face of worry which scattered all of Yoongi’s hopes. The King's eyes stared right at his younger son. It wasn’t in a disapproving way, but still in a way that made Jimin gulped at the sight. Fear ran through his body and he squeezed Yoongi’s hand tighter to find comfort. Yoongi released himself and stood up, giving Jimin a reassuring glance and stood to one side.

“Father” The two prince greeted the king and bowed down, both in an unwilling fashion.

“My two sons” The King said sternly as he acknowledged them. “I hope you understand how important this upcoming event is.”

The mood in the room was ice cold, Whilst the King didn’t convey a cold presence towards the two princes, he didn’t present a friendly one either.

“SoI’m sure you know about the masquerade ball which will be held by the Fiore’s kingdom coming up soon that you and Yoongi will be attending.” The King explained to the two princes.

“Yes, we have been informed. Prince Yoongi was just telling me about it” Jimin replied, trying to sound upbeat as he didn’t want to get on the king's bad side. Jimin was never allowed to refer to Yoongi as just ‘Yoongi’ but always ‘Prince Yoongi’ and vice versa with Jimin for Yoongi. It was some weird formality that the King imposed onto them but it sounded peculiar as it always suggested that they weren’t brothers, not even close at all. Yoongi always thought it was another tactic to separate him and his brother even more.

“You also should know that the Yeoubi kingdom will be there, including their two sons as well. Which should not be a surprise considering Fiore seems to be inviting in the area” The King explained more details to the two princes. However, with the way he exaggerated the last sentence, he was annoyed at the fact that the Yeoubi kingdom would be there.

Jimin was surprised at this news however. He never knew the king and queen of Yeoubi had two princes. All he knew about was the historic feud between the two kingdoms. This news intrigued Jimin even more about the kingdom. Despite Orcus having a long feud with Yeoubi, Jimin knew next to nothing about the kingdom. So he never developed a hateful passion towards it like his father has.

“I have a suspicion” The King continued “ Yeoubi also must be after the deal I’m trying to make with the king and queen of Fiore. This could be catastrophic for us if they get in before us. We must win the night and create a better connection with the kingdom to show who has the better power!” And there he’d go again. The King scoffed at the idea of the king and queen of Yeoubi getting one over him, also chuckling at the thought of it.

Yoongi mentally sighed at his father’s dramatic speech. He would always over exaggerate the threat Yeoubi would be and make a masquerade ball seem like it would be a battlefield when the most dramatic thing that would happen would be a staring contest between the monarchs to see who would crack first. Yoongi still cringed at the thought either way.

“But with you two” He turned and smiled greedily at both of the princes as if they were some trophies. “You two will be the key to winning the night and being the stand outs of the ball! Yoongi you will be able to use your training as a king to make connections and charm with other kingdoms and important business partners. And Jimin, your pretty face will also be a stand out to everyone. It is the perfect package!” The King exclaimed in excitement. Not in excitement for his songs but for his own self.

Jimin sighed. Of course he’d only be used for his looks and as a pawn for the king's palace rather than contributing in actual royal duties. He couldn’t say he was surprised though.

One thing did bug him however.

“Father. I hope you don’t mind and I don’t mean to pry” Jimin began, feeling nervous to even speak to the King. “I don’t get what you mean. What kind of connection with the Fiore kingdom are you talking about? Who are we in particular trying to win over? And why would Yeoubi want to do the same?”

“Hahaha. Eager are we my son? I love hearing this attitude from you, it’s a nice difference to your whining all the time” The King smiled warmly, Jimin assumed, after giving a backhanded compliment to his son.

“Thanks? Just doing my job” Jimin replied. Whilst the King’s reply did sting a little, Jimin knew he had to take his chance to show his father that he was serious about his royal duty and wanted to commit to doing more for the kingdom.

“Jimin, you are going to do this for your kingdom and for our reputation”  The King came over to Jimin and placed a hand on his shoulder. This was the first time in years the King has been intimate with his youngest son. And for once, Jimin felt the warmth and support he always wanted to get from his father. What he used to get as a child.

You will be trying to win Princess Park Chaeyoung over to our side”

And suddenly that warmth turned back into the icy cold feeling as goosebumps formed over Jimin’s body. Any form of support or intimacy from his father will always mean he’s using Jimin as part of his plan. And never because he cared for him.

“What?” Jimin replied quickly. Recoiling his body from his father’s hand. He knows where this is going and knows what his father is trying to do. This is why Yoongi was trying to warn him just before.

“From a young age, we made a deal with the Fiore kingdom, that we would both betrothed our youngest children to each other in a partnership of peace and power. However we haven’t discussed this deal in a long time. So you must try and talk with Princess Chaeyoung to win her over whilst I rekindle with the king and queen. This is a seriously important event, Jimin, and we can’t mess this up”  The King was truly serious with what he was saying. The hunger for power he had in his eyes and the greed to win was poisoning his voice.

“Oh!”  Was the only thing Jimin could squeeze out in reply to the king's news, and his fate in this world. A meek and small sound that carried so much pain behind it.

Well, never mind about wanting to commit to doing more for the kingdom. Jimin wasn’t going to fucking sell his freedom for the good of practically nothing but his father’s want for power.

Jimin felt like his future just died before his eyes, completely gone with no control over it. He wanted to crumble, to fall on the flaw and just cry his eyes out and scream out against the world and question why the universe was doing this to him.

“Um...What if I don’t want to?” Jimin asked, he knew he would be pushing it but for god sake he hated this so much. He would genuinely rather claw his eyes out rather than his freedom to love be stolen away from him.

“You don’t have a choice. The decision is already made by me and has the government's approval.” The King replied coldly. Clearly giving no remorse for his sons own opinion on the matter

“But what about my future? My decisions? My freedom to fall in love and be with someone I choose to be with?” Jimin desperately grasped for anything he could argue with. He would not let this happen to him. “ This is taking away my freedom. I’ve done nothing but stay loyal to you and the people of this kingdom.”

He knew he was taking a risk by standing up for himself and speaking back at his father. He could see how badly his brother and Namjoon wanted to intervene and also argue against his father. But sadly, Jimin could see that there was nothing they could do either.

“That is enough Jimin. What you are participating in is extremely important for the kingdom and our relationship with the Fiore Kingdom. You always go on about how much you want to do for the kingdom and that you want to do more in your role as a prince and I’ve finally given you something. Something that is of the most importance to any prince and you just refuse it like that? It seems you just want to be a constant disappointment to everyone.” The King's cold harshness pained the younger prince even more. To hear the word disappointment used to describe him tore him apart more than anything. It was as painful as someone stabbing him in the heart.

However he still fought.

“You never let me do anything. You want me to have a bigger role in the kingdom but you never give me anything that I’ll be good at and that I would represent in the best way. You never listen to me and that’s why I hate everything you give me. I want to make choices for myself-‘

“Silence” A booming sound shook the room and air around them. The King was seething at Jimin’s reply. His shouting killed any joy that had somehow still survived in the room with them.

“I don’t want to hear any more from you. You will marry the Princess and you cannot argue otherwise. It is already set in stone and there is nothing you can do about it. Stop trying to act as if you are that important to the kingdom when you never will be.”

Defeated, Jimin decided to keep his mouth closed.

The King stormed out, along with his bodyguards. That did not go well.

Jimin was left along with Yoongi and Namjoon, who said nothing. The atmosphere was still thick with the King’s frostiness despite him not being there. He really had control of every aspect of the prince's lives, even if he wasn’t present.

Jimin couldn’t bear to look at his brother and friend right now. All he felt was anger, disappointment and guilt. He knew he let down Yoongi and he just wanted to break down then and there. But he held it in, not wanting to continue what just happened.

A short, bald man then walked in the room. It was the stylist with an enthusiastic yet obnoxious look on his face.

“Your highnesses, are you ready for your fitting”

Hours later, Jimin was locked in his room in Taehyung’s arms. Jimin hadn’t said anything else for the rest of the day until he met Taehyung in the evening. He hadn’t even spoken to Yoongi nor Namjoon as he felt humiliated by the events earlier. The distraught the prince felt inside was something no living soul should ever experience.

“I swear to god, if I had the power I would beat the King up so hard he would never be able to open that disgusting mouth of his again” Taehyung was absolutely fuming for Jimin. He already knows how the king treats Jimin, but this was a new level of disgusting.

“Shhh Tae. Be careful. You don’t know who could be listening and I don’t want you to be fired for saying something like that” Jimin loved how his friend would always stick up for him but worried how much Taehyung would say

Taehyung smiled at his comment. It was funny that even when Jimin went through the worst, he’d always look out for others more than himself.

“I must’ve disappointed Yoongi so much. He’s done so much for me and I’ve done nothing for him. I’ve made myself look like an idiot” Jimin groaned, covering his head with his pillow.

Taehyung rolled his eyes as he went to hug Jimin from the back for some reassurance.

“Yoongi is not disappointed in you at all. He asked for you earlier as he was so worried but he couldn’t go see you as he wasn’t allowed. He cares, Jimin, he really does” Taehyung comforted Jimin.

Jimin perked up a bit hearing that. Despite his life literally being pulled away from him without any choice, he cared about Yoongi the most and what he thought as he looked up to him immensely.

Taehyung decided to change the conversation so his friend wouldn’t spiral even more.

“Did you find a suit you liked anyways?”

“I did thank god, it’s over there” Jimin managed to give off a weak smile and weakly pointed to his outfit hanging on his pure white wardrobe. It was a suit with a colour that looked like a mix of grey and blue. It looked like the colour of midnight. It was engraved with silver linings and patterns. Underneath, a satin black shirt matched black trousers and a satin black choker. In the middle sat diamonds sprinkled like stars in the midnight sky. It was an absolute treat.

“Jimin. Love.” Taehyung paused to soak up the beauty of the outfit. “You will look absolutely stunning in that! You will be the star of the whole ball if you wear that my god. Everyone will fall in love with you.” He continued to gaze at the outfit with love in his eyes. Jimin smiled at Taehyung’s reaction. It gave him some hope for the Fiore ball.

“Hey. Maybe tomorrow night at the ball, you may find that special someone” Tae suggested mischievously as he knew that would get Jimin’s mind working in a positive light. Mention any type of romantic, cliché love and Jimin will be intrigued in a second.

“Well after today I don’t really think I have much of a chance anymore.” Jimin laughed sadly. Every sentence he continued saying, Taehyung could tell his friend was starting to give up at any hope. It was heartbreaking to see

“It’s funny when you think about it. Me, in an arranged marriage it’s literally the opposite of love at first sight, the slow burn then falling in love. Everything I’ve been excited to experience ever since my mother told me it could happen. It feels like something out of Romeo and Juliet. Fucking Shakespeare ruining everything.”

Jimin looked outside his window and up to the moon. He tried not to be it, but he was really cliche when it came to love. He wanted to find the one. The soulmate. The pièce de résistance, but in human form, for him. It was confusing, and became more perplexing the more his mind started to give up hope.

He just wanted to find someone for him and no one else.

And maybe, somewhere far away, someone was thinking the same.
