The hum of the A/C unit reverberated throughout the entire house so that she could even feel it in their bed. Small puffs of air blessed her bare chest with every exhale he made, finally waking her after hours of much-needed sleep. Her eyes were closed but she could tell exactly what he looked like in that very moment; by the way that the side of his face felt against her skin, the feel of his arms and legs curling around her body to keep her close.

(Y/N)’s fingers reanimated ever so slowly in Katsuki’s messy locks, grazing against his scalp and feeling him shudder under her touch. A deep breath was released before his grip tightened, his lips pursing slightly to deliver innocent kisses to one of her exposed breasts. The back of his head rubbed against her chest and she giggled a bit; his fresh undercut tickled her skin as the classic spikes of his hair brushed against her like foliage.

"Morning," he mumbled.

(Y/N) scooted down so that she could hide in his warmth, pecking his cracked lips before situating her face in his neck. How many times did she have to lecture him on biting his lips? At the very least, he’d finally started using Vaseline after months of begging.

Her purring didn’t even reach her ears, but she couldn’t be blamed when there were a plethora of uses for his Quirk. Katsuki was her personal space heater, her skilled masseuse, and her bottomless box of matches. His voice was gritty with sleep. "Hey, babe.”

It was his idea to sleep nude last night and she was almost impressed that there were no implications of sex. Her sleep pattern was dramatically altered because of the baby; morning sickness was more accurately translated into all-day sickness, and she wasn’t getting much rest. Katsuki suggested everything he could to no avail: tea, soup, exercising more often, acupuncture, and so on. Mitsuki even stepped in to share her tips; because of course, Katsuki was a fetus sent from hell. Even so, when she went to the doctor, (Y/N) was even more distraught when he told her that sometimes this just...happened. He prescribed some palliative medications, and they had yet to kick in, but at least she was certain that nothing was wrong with the baby.

She was thanking her lucky stars that the worst of it started once summer vacation had begun. She would have hated to seem so frail in front of her students. Since they were hardly potty-trained, they would have all probably burst into tears at seeing her like this. The stress and illness built up and drove her into a state of panic and mental deterioration, and she was clinging to him on the couch last night trying not to drown in tears.

He pressed a kiss to the top of her head, guiding his fingers through her curls. Those hands were usually seen as weapons of mass destruction, but they were gentle to her. They soothed her to no end.

"Feeling any better?"

She nodded into the crook of his neck before pulling away slightly to look him in the eye. "I actually slept all night."

A triumphant huff inflated his chest and he thumbed her jaw lovingly.

"That's my girl."

His gremlinesque smile was one of the most radiant things she’d ever encountered, and it was pure luck that she was the one that got to see it every day. To think that they met at a simple career day that her elementary school was hosting. In hindsight, it was probably just to boost his ratings. But he did seem to have a surprising amount of patience with the children, especially after they made eye contact in the sea of tiny bodies. He’d later admit to her that he was trying to impress her, but (Y/N) could see, even then, that Katsuki had a soft spot for little ones. The public would never get to see him the way that she does. And she treasured the moment that much more because of it.

A tired smile took form on her lips and she thanked him quietly for getting her through the night--and everything else.

"It's what I'm here for, dumbass." His palm traveled down to cup her bump. As she approached her third trimester, her belly had grown tremendously with their baby. People didn't skirt around asking if she was pregnant in fear of offending her. It was obvious now. "Your damn fault, anyway."

She laughed at this a little while brushing his hand away, pressing their bodies together again and hugging his neck. "Our fault," she corrected. He grunted his approval and rolled her on top of him before sitting up, maneuvering himself out of bed with her. She inquired what he was doing and where they were going, glancing at the clock to announce how early it was.

"Have you ever seen a sunrise up here?" He asked while carefully bounding down the stairs.

"No-"

"'S'fuckin' breathtaking." He picked up a blanket from the couch and readjusted her in his arms, now walking over to the back door.

"But we're-"

"Naked? Sue me, (Y/N)." He bared his sharp teeth in a smirk that sent shivers down her spine. Nimble fingers rested on the door handle as he supported her weight with one, strong, heavily tattooed arm. “This is our property. I’d love to see one of those fuckin’ extras try and sneak a picture of us.” It was highly unlikely that anyone would see them; the nearest neighbors were a quarter-mile in each direction and nothing got past the security system.

He glanced up to her eyes, vermillion calming her as he gave a faithful grin. "I'll be here to keep you warm if your stupid Southern blood runs cold.”

She smiled into his shoulder, wrapping her limbs around him tighter as he unlocked the back door and stepped through, closing it behind him.

The air was perfect. A deep inhale was enough to cleanse from the inside out and bring peace to speeding trains of thought. The backyard was a large expanse of property enclosed by a high cedar fence. Inside was nothing but grass: the bright green turf was free of pests and soft to the touch. Katsuki took massive pride in this, being that he was the one that mowed it every weekend. Sure, they had the money to invest in having people to do such things for them, but it was a thing of habit. One of the first things he bought for himself upon relocating with his wife was a riding mower. Then he bought one for his father.

Moving from Tokyo to Iwate shook up her perception of everything for a little bit; it got much colder in the winter, and her allergies flared up like never before came spring. The harsh atmosphere was a lot to adapt to the first (and second) time around, but she slowly got used to it. The city was running rampant with crime, but that changed the second that Ground Zero started unpacking the moving van. He and Red Riot had finally gone through with creating their own hero agency, and the crime rates cowered in fear now. It wasn’t difficult for her to uproot, either. The school that she was working at was scheduled to be torn to the ground and built again on the other side of the street come summer vacation. Their stars aligned perfectly. They were both ready to leave Tokyo in search of better opportunities. Then came their miracle baby.

They’d made the decision to have a little brat seemingly the second they said their vows. If only it were as easy as stopping the birth control, though. It took two years of actively trying for a baby, and that was only after losing one.

(Y/N) hadn’t been feeling well that day at all, but she just contributed the abdominal cramping to gas and the baby slowly growing inside of her. However, as she prepared dinner--their celebratory dinner--she felt the stickiness pooling in her underwear. Katsuki came home to half-cooked food on the stove and the sound of his wife sobbing from upstairs. He felt as though he couldn’t get to her fast enough, yelling her name and flying up the stairs once she didn’t respond to him. He didn’t expect to find her sitting on the toilet with tears streaming down her face. He didn’t expect to hear such a word from the ER doctor once he was able to peel her from said toilet.

Miscarriage.

Miscarriage?

The pain you’re feeling is most likely because of how late in gestation you are, Mrs. Bakugo.

Late? She had been pregnant for four months and he had no idea?

I'm deeply sorry for your loss.

Loss.

It had taken so long for them both to recover from that loss. They mourned their baby every day, and they probably would for the rest of their lives. So when (Y/N) found out that she was pregnant again almost a year later, she wasted no time in celebrating the opportunity with her husband.

Sitting in the grass was always comforting despite the dampness. It was unlike the coarse and sharp blades of vegetation that she grew up with back home. The grass here almost hugged her to the earth with the gentlest of arms. She revealed the second pregnancy to him on the grass, during one of their picnics. It almost gave her the strength and courage to do it on her own while guiding her through it so that she didn't waver.

Katsuki lowered her so that she could stand before spreading the blanket across the ground. Once done, he laid on his back in his full glory, waiting for her to join him. Instead of situating herself next to him, she went ahead and shamelessly laid on top of him, on her side to spare the baby the extra pressure.

Katsuki wasted no time securing her in place with his arms. His aura traveled into her through his palms and she soon couldn't help but lie limp against him. He supported her. She trusted him to keep her and their baby safe.

Warm fingertips dragged shapes down her back, traveling lower with each stroke. "Hey," he whispered.

She lifted her head a little to watch him, her face hovering close to his.

“I’m really proud of you, dumbass.”

(Y/N) kissed his forehead. “And I’m proud of you, shit-for-brains.”

A devious snarl took form on his lips and he assaulted her with tickles to her side, nipping love bites into her neck as she laughed and begged him to stop. Once his antics died down, he gazed at her with nothing but gratitude.

"I love you, (Y/N)."

"And I love you, honey.”

He nuzzled his cheek against hers and (Y/N) hummed at the sensation. This ticking time bomb was a complete teddy bear; nothing like what people saw on television.

"You better mean that."

"Always, Katsuki."

A sincere smile took form on his lips and one snuck up on her as well before they let their lips meet. Her palm was cupping his cheeks, his arms tightening around her waist. And even though they were too distracted to watch the sunrise, they felt it. They were lost in each other for what felt like hours, and the heat that built between them felt a lot warmer because of the new dawn.

When they finally pulled away from the kiss, she rested her forehead against his. At that moment, he saw a beautiful little munchkin wobbling around on the grass. Her gorgeous mommy guided every step and pointed towards him, mock surprise etched onto her features. The little girl looked over in his direction and squealed with excitement, bouncing her knees and eventually falling into the soft grass below her. Katsuki heard himself laugh and his wife laughed as well. There was a small sandbox and a mini swing-set adorning the previously empty backyard, and wide plots for flowers and herbs. When he looked down, Poppy was at his feet, fisting his pants in her tiny but strong hands. "Dada!" Her smile absolutely melted him. Then he blinked and it was all gone.

"Earth to Katsu!" (Y/N) had flicked his forehead in response to his staring, and Katsuki couldn't believe that he'd seen their future like that. He saw it all in her eyes and his throat tightened up a bit. Fuck, was he in love with this woman.

"Are you okay, baby?"

He almost felt guilty for making her worry, little did she know that he was as happy as could be. He pressed his lips to her supple cheek, nudging his nose with hers. "I just can't wait to meet her, y'know?" Katsuki's palm came back up to rest against (Y/N)'s belly, and right then was when Poppy decided to give a nice strong kick for her dad.

(Y/N) pecked his lips once more and chuckled at the wonder present on his face. "And she obviously can't wait to meet you too."

Katsuki held his girls closer. A relaxed grin took residence on his usually coarse features and (Y/N) traced the lines on his face with her finger.

"The sunrise was beautiful," she joked. The sky was now painted with vibrant oranges, surrounded by vast stretches of blue. She didn’t miss the glint of admiration in his eyes as he laid his head back on the blanket. He really did have the whole world in his hands.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it."
