Chapter Text
The shopping district lay in ruins, splintered stands and all their goods lay trampled on the concrete, washed in the bright neon glow typical of this time of night.
Two rival gangs had come to blows in the middle of the damn street, resulting in immediate action needing to be taken, by only the best heroes, to prevent casualties. Scowling out over the wreckage stood Endeavor.
The flame hero. The man who struck fear into all that dared to meet his burning gaze.
"ENJI!"
Well, except one person...
As quickly as the redhead turned around, he found himself wrapped up in a hug that threatened to crush his massive body like a styrofoam cup.
"Get OFF you idiot!"
Endeavor was dropped to the ground, looking up at the number one hero with barely concealed rage and a lot of frustration.
"You were great out there, Enji! We make a pretty good team, eh?"
"Endeavor. And we are NOT a team."
The symbol of peace and his insufferable kindness... usually endeavor would just ignore it, push it to the back of his mind until he could go home and unleash hell on his training equipment, but lately... well, he'd begun to like it.
The way the blonde compliments him, touches him, even the infuriatingly familiar way the older man speaks to him. It all pissed Enji off...but also caused pride to blossom in his chest like a wonderful spring. Before he knew it, Enji began not only to expect these things from the symbol of peace, but also to crave them. Crave the blondes attention until he wanted it, even needed it at all times...not that he would ever admit it to the blonde.
A shadow swung through the midnight air, landing next to all might with a yawn. Endeavor almost growled, it was that damn erasure hero.
"I restrained the thugs at the west exit, which means my job is done."
"East is clear too!"
Fluttering behind Enji alerted him to hawks presence, though he was more focused on the way all might turned to the raven haired man with a huge smile. Seriously, he looked way too happy to see him...
"Shouta! I didnt see you out there!"
"Yeah, you guys are easy to spot..." eraserhead says, looking from hawks bright red wings, to endeavors glowing flames, to the starkly visible colors worn by the symbol of peace.
"...but my costume makes it hard for anyone to see me at night, allies included. I might need to get a different hero outfit..."
"HAHAHA! Nonsense! I think black looks great on you, shouta! A dark hero costume is very cool! It's mysterious and demanding!" All might says, missing the way his string of compliments causes the flame hero to cross his arms, glaring a hole into the concrete.
"Let's go hawks. We're done here."
All might reached out, but the other man was already stomping away. The blonde let out a huge sigh as he walked back with the erasure hero, absentmindedly rubbing at the back of his neck.
"I guess he just doesn't like me that much... maybe telling him is a bad idea, it probably wouldn't work anyway..."
"The giant fire-monster that's completely obsessed with you? Yeah, it could never happen..." aizawa muttered, his tone was completely sarcastic but the blonde was too caught up in his moping to notice.
"I know..."
----------
"Ugh, damn erasure hero... did you see the way all might was doting on him? He was practically... gushing!" Endeavor grumbled.
Hawks floated along behind the number two hero, secretly smiling to himself at his idols transparent-as-glass jealousy. "He was just talking about his costume, I'm pretty sure you're overthinking it."
"Tch, of course you would think that... your brain is the size of a chicken's. You would never have caught onto all the obvious signs of intimacy..."
Hawks' face took on a bland, unimpressed look.
"Like what?"
"The laughing! The smiling! It was so obvious, that... that meathead!"
"That's just kinda all mights thing... besides, he'd probably say all those things about you if you wore a ton of black..." it wasn't really serious, but it caused the flame hero to stop dead in his tracks.
"Oh no, wait, no, I didn't-"
"Of course..." the older man just hasn't seen him in black, but if he DID he would no doubt start gushing over him just like the erasure hero. The thought caused endeavors heart to hammer in his chest and the flames on his shoulders to flare up.
"I'm going to see my support department."
"Right..."
------------
The idea seemed simple enough, but as endeavor stood behind a small building waiting for all might to show up, his legs felt ready to crumble underneath him and he couldn't seem to catch his breath. He would have to thank tsukauchi for giving him a copy of the number one hero's patrol route, the symbol of peace should be coming this way any minute...
Endeavor looked down at his new costume, desperately trying to convince himself that this wasn't a foolish idea.
In a lot of ways, his new costume looked similar to the first one he'd donned during his days at UA; charcoal black with a crimson stripe running down his arms and legs, except that he'd decided to keep his shoulder pads and gauntlets, boots and mask still aflame.
A loud crash made the flame hero jump. This was it. Enji peered out over the corner to see all might standing tall in the middle of the street, watching over the pedestrians that criss-crossed the busy district.
The symbol of peace wore a proud smile on his face. Citizens going about their day peacefully, without worry of villains or terror, it was what he had worked for his whole life.
"All might!"
The number one hero turned to see endeavor smirking, clad in a dark suit that highlighted the younger mans bright hair and flames. Endeavor's six pack was clearly visible through the skin-tight material, full pecs hugged by the black fabric, and all might could only imagine how the man looked from behind...
The idea caused toshinori's brain to shut off for a second, before he noticed, just past endeavor, a woman clutching her child and being approached by a hooded man... with a knife?!
All might shot forward, so quickly the concrete burst under his feet and the flames decorating the red-head's face were blown right out.
With a quick strike to the back of the neck, the thug went down, civilians applauding the number one hero and gathering around him with their phones out.
"Oh! Uh, y-yes! Always happy to help!" All might grinned, flashing a peace sign as the crowd goes wild. All the while, the blonde was completely oblivious to the redhead whose rage was surely visible from space. Endeavors jaw was clenched tight, flames roaring, posture and stance so rigid you'd think he was preparing for a fight. Endeavor trudged away, leaving a trail of molten concrete in his wake.
