Work Text:
Namjoon should have thought that this wasn’t going to be easy.
A summer trip, made only by the seven of them, would have been a good option if things were different. Don’t get him wrong, he was excited to spend five days at the paradisiac spot his friends found after a few hours of research; the eagerness and the thirst for some exciting time with their now considered second family was more than palpable in the room. This was supposed to be their end of course excursion after their third year of college together, which, technically, it was. All would have been different if there wasn’t from the bomb Seokjin dropped a few weeks ago.
“You’re going to study abroad for your last year??” Jimin’s voice was the first one to drop after his revelation, followed by the firm nod the eldest made.
“I thought it could be pretty exciting. I already talked it out with my parents, and they think it could gained me some more benefits than harm. Besides, i need to improve my english a little more.” the swift sway of his shoulders and his easygoing smile seemed to cool down the atmosphere in the room, although it didn’t stopped from all the questions and inquisitive cheers the other five made.
Still, Namjoon couldn’t dare to look at him, absorbing this brand new information while staring at the exterior of the bustling dorm. If he was sure of something, it was that Seokjin was the most incredible person he has ever met. From the very first day, when he and his roommate, Hoseok, arrived at the campus and they approached a duo made of a mint and soft brown manes, he knew his hyung was the coolest person he had the chance to found. Their relationship increased as they started to meet together for some study sessions, then, some meetups and some sorority houses parties and, finally, casual meetings, from their cinema and coffee journeys to enjoy the crows and birds over the roofs while eating some hotteoks all together. It all came better when three other colorful manes joined, which Namjoon would have assured it has been the best year of his entire life. Not only because of the company, because it was also the year he realised he felt something more for his hyung.
He wasn’t sure at what point his feelings suddenly changed, when was the moment when the stupid figurative arrow beat his heart down. He only knew that, one day, when they were all leaned down over the grass after a hard afternoon of studying wearily, with Seokjin at his side, pointing at some cloud that reminded him to an alpaca -how could alpacas look like a cloud? only he had knew-, he realised how much enamoured he was with him. The whole galaxy and deep stare Yoongi and Taehyung proclaimed he held at that moment while the other was explaining something was enough to confirm his feelings. Of course, the other knew, even Hoseok declared that he was the first one to notice since they were living together. Jimin was the first one to drop the question, and it was a matter of time when him and his roommates started to make some heart hands behind them just to tease, the death-stare glares couldn’t even work with Jungkook with his smug smirks. So, after another year together and a very certainty of his feelings towards Seokjin, this announcement felt like a kick in the very bottom of his ass to Namjoon. Especially, when he was planning to confess for the next semester, since he wasn’t as sure of his hyungs feelings and the last thing he wanted was to ruin his friendship with the person he liked the most. He didn’t listen to his friends when all of them promised they were more than sure that his feelings were reciprocated, his doubt drowning him. He knew that this trip was also supposed to be some type of farewell, even if Seokjin guaranteed he will called all of them and come to visit once in a while without doubts. And, even if it hurt like hell, this was something the seven of them should be involved, his feelings left aside, only for this time.
What he didn’t expect, after that long flight but amusing road trip on that rent caravan and the pickup truck, was the little problem they found once they arrived at the hotel, skins shiny because of the heat and the suncream applied some minutes ago.
“Are you sure that there are no more rooms with double-beds for these days?” Namjoon asked, in a perfect english. He was usually the one who approached foreigners, his group of friends admiring him even more from every international syllable he spoked up. If Seokjin wants to learn english, i could just teach him. He looked at the older at the corners of his sunglasses: he was leaning on the shoulder of Yoongi while telling some of his infamus puns to Jimin, one moving along his whole body in laughter and the other rolling his eyes on the act. You don’t need to crossed and entire ocean just for that.
“I’m sorry young man, but we’re full. A noticeable guest reserved most of the rooms for this days for an important event, so we need to change our reservations urgently. We still have two of the rooms you asked for, but only one with a queen size. Is this an actual problem for you?” the woman frowned, almost pleading. Namjoon didn’t want to cause any trouble, and less when he had a whole crew of people behind, all tired and with a deep desire to jump right into the waves before the golden hour. He sighed, nodding and taking the keys out of the receptionist, who beamed and bowed in gratitude.
“So, there’s a little change of plans. We have two rooms, with two bedrooms apart, but only one with a double bed. The hotel can’t do anything to change it, so at least two of us needs to sleep together.” he could sense where this was going already just by the looks his six friends interlocked to each other. “Okay, if nobody wants to do it, i’ll take the risk.”
“I’ll go with you” a tenor voice he knew too well proclaimed, coming closer as he adjusted his straw hat. The full-lips smile of Seokjin increased with the widen of his eyes, totally didn’t expect him to take it as well.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah! I bet the maknaes wanted to share a room and it’s better if we keep the kids all together” Jin passed the key to Jimin in the air, the oldest of the youngest a little perplexed at how easily they could read their mind. The other one was given to Yoongi, more carefully. “And these two can keep and eye on them since their bedrooms are closer, so, really, i don’t mind at all sharing the room with you.” Namjoon was about to protest, but the firm grip of Seokjin on his hand as he moved along his suitcase was faster. “Come on, before you eat your mind again!”
“I mean, we could just simply shared bedrooms the hyungs and the maknaes together and actually save some money out of this, but alright, if this is what you want...” Yoongi chirped in a mumble, grabbing his own bag as he saw the other two reaching the elevator.
“Chst! Don't make hyung suspect!" Jungkook winked with his index finger close to his mouth, sharing knowing smiles with each other. This was definitely going to be a remarkable trip.
---
“And, this is it!” Seokjin opened the door, noticeably enthusiastic. The wheels of the suits rolled down over the carpet as some natural light greet them. Half of the room walls were covered in crystal, with the view of some palm trees, plumerias, red, pink and orange hibiscus and one of the the swimming pools of the hotel. Some colorful floats and bathing suits joined the whole sight as well with the bar and the parasols. Namjoon was so immersed on the breathtaking vista that he was sent back to earth when the sound of metallic springs and a soft thud alarmed him: Seokjin had jumped right into the queen-sized bed in the middle of the room. The only queen-sized bed of the room. “This is starting to feel like an actual vacation after all” he put his hands behind his head, relaxing and smiling so shiny that Namjoon thought he could get blind by just watching it. “By the way, if you don’t mind, i’ll get this side of the bed.”
The bed. Their bed. They were going to share a bed. He was gonna share a bed with Seokjin. For full five days. Sleeping alongside Seokjin. Kim worldwide handsome Seokjin.
Suddenly, it was hard to move.
“Hey! Hoseok just told me about a picnic at the shore of the beach! Wanna come in like, half an hour?” he doesn’t know at one point Seokjin reached his phone and seated up on the bed, legs crossing, but still with the same spirit he walked with into the dorm. When Namjoon felt that the nerves inside his body were responding again, he moved, sitting on the free spot of the bed, the one closer to the window. He leaned his body, head hitting the cushion. A breeze moved the trees outside, some torches were lighten up as the fire danced along the wind. “Joonie? You’re okay? Are you feeling a little bit homesick already?”
“N-no, hyung, it’s not that. It’s…” he shifted, Seokjin was glancing at him, with concern and curiosity. How could he be so calmed with this whole situation? How could he take the fact that they were gonna share just a few inches of distance for full five nights? Maybe his worries were right. Maybe his hyung only see in him just a friend, just a companion of their group of seven. Or maybe he hasn’t realised that fact yet. No, that wasn’t possible, because he was the one who suggested to sleep together. Wait. Jin suggested them to sleep together.
“Are you sure you’re fine? Your face is pretty red now-”
“I’m fine! Better than ever!” he raised from his seat with his cheeks burning. Chewing his lower lip, he tried to compose himself. He remembered: Hoseok, picnic, beach. Yeah, that could be a better start of this trip, try to ease his mind right now. “Tell Hobi to wait a little, i would like to properly installed here before going straight to the beach.”
“That’s what i was thinking, actually. I’ll tell him.” after a few more seconds when Namjoon moved along to see the full room -they had a big closet and bathroom for the two of them, as well as some chairs and tv that they would probably won’t use, since the sight of the balcony and all the options from their room-service more appetizing-, he spoke out again. “He says that's okay! They’ll wait for us while they’ll set it up!”
Nodding as he sipped out his bag, his phone buzzed under the pocket of his pants. Taking it and unblocking it, he frowned once he recognised the message, a huff leaving his lips.
“two bros, chilling in their hotel room~”
His answer was quick.
“stfu jungkook”

He had to admit, that his friends knew how to choose a good location. The beach was long, they could barely see the end at their sides. The sea came and stepped back in and on, the tranquility the sound made was unrivalled. The sun was setting and everything was a peachy sky, golden rays warming their place filled with some trays of food and some cups to not let his throats get dry. Jimin explained it was a welcomed gift they offered to them, since they didn’t opposed to the idea of their little inconvenience with their rooms. He emphasized how the cute receptionist mentioned to thank specifically the tall dimpled boy who speaked english so well. As they let the smell and taste of food conquered their mouths, they discussed about their ideas for the next four days. It might seem now very far away, but they knew how quick it will vanished when they least expected. Namjoon listened and talked carefully: some of the activities were suggested and searched by himself and, even if they couldn’t do everything they planned to do, he was still happy to spend it with the six persons he loved the most on earth. They agreed to try tomorrow in the morning some of the activities the hotel offered, as well as taking a visit or two to the town next, enjoying the less touristy part of the place.
At some point, Taehyung and Jungkook had stepped out, coming and running towards the water to enjoy it for the first time. Jimin and Hoseok joined them afterwards, while Yoongi just tipped his toes next to the sea foam. It didn’t last long until the youngers make an attempt to throw him right into the water, running towards his hyung as Hobi’s and Jimin laughter filled the air. Namjoon watched them, happily as the warm of the ambience run through his body. Soon enough, he realised a figure leaning at his side, beaming as well. Jin's chin was resting on his hand, close to the thin sand but full body on the checkered blanket.
“What are you thinking, Joon-ah? I noticed you’re kinda in your own world since we arrived at the hotel” he caressed his elbow with his knees, eyes pierced at him. Of course Seokjin would noticed his state, he know he wasn’t a fool. Still, did he knew exactly why this trip wasn’t something he was particularly ecstatic?. Namjoon sighed, some air swifting the golden-brown string of his hair.
“I’m worried about you, hyung. I’m trying not to think that this might be the few times i’ll get to see you, to be all gathered together.” Seokjin blinks, mirroring the seriousness of his own frown. “Do you really need to leave us? To go to America on the last minute when everything was going so-? Well, you know what i mean.”
“I know it might not be easy” he traces some lines in the sand, toes curling as his legs were up. “It’s not easy to me at all as well.” he chuckled, even if there wasn’t a pinch of mischief in his word. “But i don’t want to worry about my future right now. And, i don’t want any of you to think too much about it as well” he came closer, searching to clasped his curled hand around Namjoon’s, delicate eyes shining at him. “Especially you. You carry a lot in your shoulders as well.”
“Easier said than done. If i haven’t said it before…” he looked at the floor for one moment, at the almost empty tray of food at his sides. Some kids cheered out loud and some bicycles and people walking close to the beach echoed as the smell of salt and seaweed reached him. He tightened the grip of his hyung on his fingers, not a little too hard, not a little too weak. “i don’t want you to go. I’m truly gonna mis-”
“Hey! What did i said about thinking too hard, uh?” he hushed him, playfully raising his hands and with the tips of his fingers sealing his lips. The resounding giggles of Hoseok alarmed the both of them, as they turned their heads to witnessed how, now, Jimin was the new target of Taehyung and Jungkook, about to be thrown away right into the water, Yoongi approaching Hoseok silently to do the same. As they both laughed out loud at the scene in front of their eyes, the sun was finally touching the first lines of the horizon. meaning that the first tint of blue was colouring in the other half of the skyline. “Promise me something, Joonie. At least for these days, try not think about it. I want to spend this days intensely, like is the last thing i would ever do, try them to make a memory not even Taehyung’s polaroids can catch, you know? The only thing i want for these days is… to be with you.”
Namjoon swallowed, feeling somehow that the “you” from the last quote was directly at him, and not as a we referring to the whole gang. A part of him wanted to think that, just as how deep the brown chocolate eyes of Seokjin were staring at him. The oldest interlocked his fingers with the younger, Namjoon sensing how his blood run right towards his wrist on the act. His nerves were a mess right now, for the proximity of his hyung and how hard his words hit at him. He nodded, before showing part of his dimples.
“Okay, i’ll promise. Let’s try to make this something my favorite hyung won’t forget, uh?” he fully smiled, gaining another one from Jin, stopped by some footsteps when they figured how the rest of their friends weren’t willing to let them out of the party.
The sky was covered in more shades of azure as the minutes past. Even if Namjoon’s world was already blue, he would try this for Seokjin.
---
The next morning was a little more lively. They decided to spend part of their morning in the pool right in front of their hotel room, which was barely crowded at that early time. While a part of them relaxed on the deck-chairs like Yoongi or Namjoon, others prefered to work out in the water, like Jungkook was doing, Jimin counting on his now ninety length on the large swimming pool. Under the sun, Namjoon relaxed, thinking about last night. It was much easier to sleep alongside Jin than he had thought. Meanwhile his hyung felt asleep almost at the moment, he had to wait several minutes until he could close his eyes, the presence of the other easing up at him with the passing of time, as well as the tiredness of the day they had spend from one side to the other. All the anxiety of sleeping right beside the boy he liked was left at the night, him trying to find why. Waking up wasn’t the same, because he didn’t expect to getting up with the chestnut mane of his friend and some eyelashes and pink lips right in front of his eyes. The sight was cute and beautiful, he wouldn’t deny it, but he almost lost his heart out of his mouth when he recalled all the events of yesterday. He wouldn’t admit out loud that he spend some minutes staring at his hyung’s features, even if he could already traced maps of lands and rivers with just the lines that were contoured in front of him. When he noticed how Seokjin was starting to move into the white mattress, he decided it was time to leave the bed and take a short shower, trying to hide the pink of his cheeks with the one his body will leave beacuase of the hot water. He was so immersed in his thoughts that a he didn't expect a hand passing through his sunglasses, making him shake his tiny nose and head.
“You’re thinking too much. And i mean, more than the usual” Yoongi started, lowering his own lenses. Namjoon stared at his feet, enlaced under the white and red stripes of his seat.
“I’m pretty obvious, am i?”
“Look, i know we’re all gonna miss him, not only you. He’s been my best friend for a while and also my roommate, and i can’t even imagine how he’s gonna survive without me in the other side of the sea” the younger chuckled at that comment, gaining at little tip on his arm from the older. “I’m serious! I know he will deal with it because it’s Seokjin but, look at him. Does he look anxious about it?” Jin was in one of the floats-a watermelon-, casual as the sun bathed his skin with a warm smile. Not further than him, Hoseok was trying to catch Jungkook under a rubber donut, Jimin about to do the same on his big rubber duck. Yoongi kept talking. “I’m aware he told you not to think too much about it and i know he wants the same for us. So, i’m gonna say it once before you lose again all the precious time you have overthinking inside that head: go and talk to him and find the good moment to confess.”
“What?!” his voiced raised up, enough to make some birds fly over the fence. “Yoongs, i’m a wrecking mess over here, how do you expect me to confess right on the last few days we’re gonna spend together?”
“And this is exactly why you need to do it! It’s now or never and, who knows, maybe you'll help him reconsider his offert about going abroad…” Namjoon laughed, rolling his eyes.
“Like that’s gonna happen” he took one last look at his crush, knowing that sooner than later the other three on the pool will go after him. Yoongi sent him another glance before he groaned, knowing that his friend had made several points. “Alright, alright! Stop staring at me like i’m gonna regret it until the end of my life.”
“That’s exactly what i’m trying to prevent.”
Namjoon huffed and standed up, while Yoongi just smirked at him, confident. He approached the swimming pool, the water's temperature being more than fine. Some splashes alarmed him that his friends already had pulled their hyung right into the water. He joined them attackeing Hoseok on the back, although he soon let him go to catch the other two, who tried to hide under the rubber floats, failing on the act. He realised that the one he came looking for in the first place was nowhere to be found, a brief silence filling the wet air as he search for him. It was too late when Seokjin jumped out of the water, hugging Namjoon from behind as the other shrieked when the older dipped both of them into the water, bubbles of air crawling like smoke with a big sound as the couple immersed. Coming out for air, Namjoon listened to Jin, giggling unapologetically. Half-smirking and half-closing his eyes, Namjoon went right onto him, Seokjin screaming in help as he swam towards the unicorn float, the taller following. Even at his failed attempt to use the unicorn as a shield, Namjoon ended up throwing it away, cornering Seokjin towards the wall of the pool, the brunet still laughing nerviously as Namjoon didn’t drop his sight out of him. At one point he grabbed his wrists, making the older to look back at him with drops of water coming from his wet hair. He looked so small and defenceless that Namjoon felt kinda bad for trying to dip him back in the water. They stared longer than he thought, his heart bumping inside the water and cheeks burning, realising how close they were of each other. However, when the older seemed to start to speak, the voice of Taehyung calling them about how the hotel’s activities were about to start, Seokjin splashed with his hand some water towards Namjoon, the latter making a face as he splashed back. Between more laughter and pushes, they came out of the pool. He didn’t miss how his five friends pierce their eyes towards them, rolling his eyes and shaking his head behind of Jin.
To his fortune or coincidence, because he doesn’t want to think about the thing Jimin and Taehyung implied to him so many times-ah, yes, destiny-, the games are needed to be done in pairs or at least groups of three. He wasn’t surprised when his friends sent to each other some conspiratorial looks, but he is caught off guard when, before he can even move a feet on his spot, a pair of left fingers enlaced with his right, elevating them in the air to announce they were already a group, Jin shining with his beautiful confident smile. Namjoon needed to cover his cheeks and mouth to hide how his lips curved and cheeks felt hot-again. That disappear soon when they finally started to play against the others, most of the pairs being middle-aged men and women or just college students on their twenties like them. The morning past fast with the totality of twenty games played which, half of them had been won by the couple. They certainly didn’t expect a prize and they didn’t expect to win that many. When the mc congratulated them with two fake golden crowns and some clapping from the few people who hasn’t go to eat their lunch yet, their last words are loud enough to be heard even from the big cheers from their friends:
“You two have been truly amazing, by the way! Most of the couples around are hard workers, not like you weren't there, but i haven’t seen a pair with such a good chemistry like you two in a long while.” he shaked their hands, ignoring how the eyes of both young adults widen. “Enjoy your prize! It’s a ticket for all the free food service at the hotel during this week!”
With a quick wave of his hand, he left the platform he had congratulated them, giving the piece of cardboard to Namjoon. He looks at Jin and- is that red skin what he spots on his neck and ears? He’s about to ask what is wrong when he felt the big body of Taehyung jumping on his back, Jungkook doing the same with their hyung.
“You heard that? Free food for all the week thanks for our favorite kings!” Jungkook kissed the temple of Seokjin, the older groaning while trying to get out of the strong hold the younger was grasping into him.
“At least invite us to some drinks to celebrate!” Taehyung protested, both now declared royals sharing glances. The shrug of Namjoon was enough to Seokjin to sighed, knowing that they had no option left.
They approached the bar in time record, Namjoon and Seokjin ordering while the rest waited behind, complaining and enjoying at the same time the memory of the games they played a few minutes ago. It was fun, they all agreed on that, but Hoseok still thinks that that young women cheated and tried to make him and Jungkook to fall on that race, Namjoon listened while the waiter prepare the beverages in colorful flutes and tiny umbrellas. Just when he’s about to join the conversation since Seokjin has been quiet, the sound of a scratch calls his attention, looking at the table. Jin has catch a piece of paper and, with a coin, he’s scraping some numbers. He noticed the poster that reads about winning some free entrances to a party in a club that is about to drop this weekend. He chuckled, showing his dimples as he grabbed Seokjin by his waist, leaning to see better.
“You actually think you can win this?”
“I think i have a lot of luck today, and not because of anything” he glimpsed at him, a smirk on his mouth even if his ears are heating. He seems very immersed to choose the right numbers, already the two he has chosen with a possibility to win. They need a few more if they actually want to attend that party. “Namjoon-ah, tell me a number, quick.”
“Uhm, okay, thirteen? Seven?”
“Already chose those.”
“Uhm… alright, one is my favorite. Yours is four… fourteen? Forty-one?”
“Fourteen is there” he scratched and gasps happily when a new spot over the grey mark and, furthermore, another possibility of winning. Just two more and they’ll win the prize. “Forty one as well-yes! Okay, this is it, tell me another one and i’ll swear you’re my lucky charm and i’ll have to bring you with me to the states.”
“Alright” he laughs at the joke. He thinks with consideration his answer, searching for all the numbers written in that piece of paper. He signals the ninety-six, Jin beaming for an old joke they both hold close to them. Their eyes widen at the same time as the red color appears for the last time, revealing that they actually had won some free tickets to sneak inside one of the parties thrown at the town. While the waiter is finishing with the drinks, both boys looked at each other, and Seokjin can’t help to jump right into his arms, screaming in joy as the other hold him before both of them fall into the floor. “Hyung!”
“AAAAA-I love you so much Namjoon-ah!!” a firm grip on his temples and a kiss on his forehead is enough to drop him on the floor, trying to hold his look on his hyung before he leaves. “I knew i was going to get lucky because of you, you’re the best!” some soft arms cupped his cheeks, like he’s about to do something. Something that terrifies and paralyzes Namjoon so much and so steady. But Seokjin grabs his drink, turning towards the others while announcing they already have plans for this friday, confused at first but at last enjoying the plans to visit a disco. Meanwhile, Namjoon remains.
Did Seokjin just shout out that he loves him? And he just kissed his scalp out of nowhere?
He blinks.
---
As he expects, the time runs out right in front of his eyes. The afternoon after that morning is quiet, since they decided to visit the town a little, splitting in groups. Namjoon doesn’t see Jin until the night when he arrived at the hotel with a Taehyung filled of bags with some souvenirs-mostly gifts for them- and the polaroid camera hanging on his neck with some pictures on their pockets. The younger had mentions how much he wanted to capture the essence of the trip with his old cam and share all of them with everyone as little memories. They ate and chatted that night with the sand just a few metres away from them, the hotel’s restaurant arrange being that close to the sea. They drank and danced stupidly along the music and with the light of the torches, the laughter and hiccups never leaving their table. It all when quiet when, back at the hotel room, Namjoon showed to Jin some of the pics he made with Taehyung, peaking and dropping his head on his shoulders gladly, even if there was enough space on the bed to sit more comfortably. When he noticed how much Seokjin was trying not to fall asleep, he called it a day, the brunet thanking him silently. The morning is even more quiet, some relaxing time with Jimin, Yoongi and Jungkook as Seokjin joined in a shopping spree alongside Taehyung and Hoseok. When he least expects it, the night is arriving, and his college roommate reminds all of them in the group chat to join him at the lobby, their evening at the carnival close to the dock about to begin.
He enjoys the rides, even if he won't admit out loud how much he actually screamed. The lights and candy colors are everywhere, the smell of food mixed with the last shrieks of the seagulls and the sea breeze making an interesting mix. Then again, when they had stopped while waiting for the youngers to pee and Namjoon is immersed in a conversation with Yoongi and Hoseok, the grip embrace of some fingers he knows too well around his wrist takes him out of it. He finds himself welcomed with a brilliant smile and a hand who signals him to the flying chairs, Seokjin pleading with some puppy eyes. He looks back at the other two, half-smiling. Yoongi shrugs with crossed arms, a quiet smirk on his face as Hoseok just raises his thumbs up at him, his signature big heart-smile drawn over his features. He was just asking for them to come along, but those bastards had left him alone. Again . And Seokjin is moving them while his denim jacket swings with energy in the air.
“I’m a little nervous” Jin confessed once they sit next to each other. From how he has been biting his lip, Namjoon for sure had noticed.
“Don’t worry, this one is actually very relaxing.” but even if Namjoon wanted to reassure his companion, Jin grabshis arm when the chairs starts to move, holding him tightly as his eyes scanned the floor, now a few metres away from him. Namjoon laughs, as he grips his hand, enjoying the trip. Soon, Seokjin has left his fear behind and can’t help to raise his hands in the air, feeling free like a little bird. Namjoon joins him, at the end both leaving the ride very satisfied.
Since they lost track of the others and the stomachs of the duo were starting to grumble, Namjoon points towards one of the cotton candy stands, the eyes of Seokjin with sparkles at the mention of food. He orders a bunny, with the head white and the ears pink and blue, Jin complaining since he’s the older and he’s supposed to invite him, agreeing at the end for some treatment. They decided to take a walk close to the wharf, the sun bathing the sea with his last rays on the horizon. The sky was red and orange, some street lamps turning on already. They walked together, jackets rubbing while recalling some good memories because... well, Namjoon had already forgot from where this conversation started, but that's why Seokjin was someone he felt he could talk to about everything.
“... Now, remember when we got lost on we had to hurry to Jimin’s birthday party?” Seokjin leaned his shoulders towards Namjoon, which mouth was occupied with the sweet, still showing those dimples at the memory.
“I almost dropped the cake and i thought you were going to kill me at the moment” he chuckled.
“Ah, come on, you know i would never hurt you! You know that, right?””
Although Namjoon nods, his smile is weak and sad. You’re already hurting me by leaving.
When the stack of wooden path reached the edge, cotton candy already eaten, they decide to stay at the edge, sitting and appreciating the sunset in their own company. At some point, Jin has started a conversation with one of the fishermans on his own, Namjoon smirking at how Jin can easily make friends with everyone surrounded them besides being an actual introvert. He pats in one of the pockets of his jeans, knowing there is something he wants to show to him. When the fisherman gets back at his job and Jin remains, he pats his shoulder, catching his attention.
“Taehyung took this and gave it to me before getting in the carnival. I forgot to showed you because...” i wanted it to keep it , but his words never came. Instead, Jin holds carefully the polaroid between his fingers. It’s them, at night, enjoying the second night at the hotel. It was just yesterday but with that moment captured in camera it feel like ages ago. It was just a picture of the two, smiling happily to the camera, enjoying a good time with the pitch black sea on their backs, the golden lights of the restaurant illuminating their blushed faces. Both Namjoon and Jin had their arms around each other, in a friendly way, with their cheeks barely touching. It was that simple, yet, it conveyed so much more than words could written. A path taken by the two of them for two years, hoping for more and more days, hours, minutes and seconds together. A path that had made a stop, all of the sudden. “I thought that you could take it to America if you want to… so that you wouldn’t forget me.”
The last part was mumbled, more to himself than for Seokjin to be heard. But he listened, and the sad smile he sent to the dark-blond felt like a needle right into his chest. Namjoon thought for a second that Jin was about to cry for how watery his eyes had become. Instead, their hands meet again-who knows how many times on that day, he had lost the count-, as the older leans his head onto the shoulder of Namjoon, pecking the edge of the bone and staring at the horizon, the only sound enveloping them were the waves crashing against the wooden poles below them.
“I could never forget you.” his tone is sorrow, yet the grip is strong. Is like a memory they didn’t want to go. Like a laugh that escapes when you’re riding an attraction. A sugary flavour that won’t leave your mouth until dinner. A polaroid, that keeps intact, on the pockets of some blue jeans. Two hearts attached to each other more than they think they are.
He feels the same, Jin knowing without sharing any more words.
---
Namjoon is sure of many things in life, being one of them the fact that any of the seven can properly play a sport. Add the sand and the fact that they’re playing volleyball and the fact has more several points. But they’re playing as a family, and that’s more important than winning or losing against friends. At least, for the first twenty minutes, when they haven’t start properly to fight and letting out their competitive vein, of course.
Seokjin is screaming at him for the nth time, only making it even more funnier when Taehyung and Jimin are their rivals and they’re almost on the floor for laughing so much. He has been levitaning and being more clingy than usual from the start of the morning, and Namjoon can’t complain. He actually feels like he’s having his time with his hyung, a very precious time and, still, he hasn’t find the right moment to confess. Actually, from Yoongi’s and Hoseok’s glances, he had. It’s just that he doesn’t have the guts to actually approach him and reveal the big announcement. Time was running out, and he only had one day and a half to finally tell him. But Namjoon wasn’t feeling ready at all.
At some point, the sky was on a pastel yellow, brown and orange clouds dots and sheeps over them as well. Their toes were touching the sea foam, both looking for crabs and seashells together. They all agreed that after their little research they would head to the hotel for dinner before their visit to the party. Namjoon wasn’t much of a fan of these type of events, but the few he had attend alongside their friends had been pretty neat. Everything was better if he had the right company. Seokjin had never left his side, passing each other the little crabs they could found between hands, Namjoon catching some pretty tiny seashells as well for Seokjin. At some point, once they went down far enough, they turned back with their hunt done. They were walking closely, fingertips rubbing delicately.
“Namjoon,” Jin called, getting out of his thoughts to the younger, who turned to him. “is there something you haven’t done yet that you want desperately to do right now?”
“Like what?”
“I don’t know. Anything, honestly.”
“You mean like travelling? Learning a new language? Know a new culture you aren’t familiarised with?”
“Well, yeah, something like that…” Namjoon looked at the sun above them.
“To be honest, I want to do like… a million things at this point of my life. But I also think we’re still pretty young, which means, that we have time, much more time that people pressed on us, to do all the things we want. The right time is in front of us, and we should know at the moment what we can and what we should do. Years ago i would have said that you need to live your life fiercely but, to be honest, i don’t think like that anymore. There’s pleasure by enjoying a life from the quiet, and i think i’ll try to maintain the right rhythm to me. I learned that from you, you know?” Seokjin remains quiet, lips half-parted, like he didn’t expect that type of answer.
“But, what if you don’t have time, Namjoonie? What if time is fading right into your eyes like this sand and you can’t do anything to let the waves take it away from you? What if you only have this chance in your lifetime to do it?” he sound desperate, feet about to stamp into the water.
“Then.. I guess you should jump rigth in. Taking chances at the moment when you know you probably won't have another chance it’s okay as well.” the older had stopped his march, Namjoon turning around, searching for his face. Seokjin’s spine was tense, fists clenching, like he was waiting for a sign, something that could snapped out his thoughts. “Hyung…”
“I-I have a lot on my head. There’s… there’s something that has been crawling my mind from the past few weeks, something i need to let out soon or i know i’ll regret.”
“Is this… related to your future?” the crystal clear water shined under their feet, buried inside the cold and lumpy sand.
“Mostly, yes. I know i told you not to worry about it and, yet, here i am, eating my own mind for some stupid thoughts and doubts that will probably take me to anywhere.” he caressed his wrist, choking in a faked laugh while speaking.
“What are your doubts, hyung? You know you can tell me anything…” Namjoon caressed his chin and cheeks, attracting it so he could take a good look of him. Jin’s eyes seemed as watery as the sea, and his heart shrinked at the sight.
“... Do you think it’s actually a good idea of me leaving?” Namjoon was caught out off guard, not expecting that answer. Seokjin continued. “What if i hate it? What if everything goes wrong? What if i have to go back and everything i would done there was for nothing?“
“It’s completely understandable to have that kind of thoughts, hyung, we all have doubts when we do this type of changes. I’m pretty sure that you would nail it wherever you go, if its Korea, America, Canada or the freaking Antarctica. What makes you think you’re not gonna make it?” there’s a brief silence again. Namjoon could see on the distance the spot the five of his friends had parked their towels and belongings.
“What if i there’s something here i don’t want to let go, no matter what the benefit i can get from leaving? A major cause for my stayance?” Namjoon is pretty sure that Jin is on the verge of tears at this point. Whatever is causing his hyung this type of pain, he wants to stop immediately. If he sees Seokjin crying that would be it, he would cry too, and he’ll probably confess to him out of fear. He’s about to reach him once again, but the voice of Jungkook calling for them stopped him on the act. Seokjin walks faster, without giving Namjoon a chance to ask him what’s going on.
---
There was definitely something weird when the night approached. Unlike the day, Seokjin had been avoiding Namjoon. He even chose the farthest seat from him in the table of their dinner. When they finished and everyone was ready to go to their dorms, Seokjin remained with Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook for a little longer, asking them for some moments of privacy from besides the other three, who walked towards the stairs. Nor Yoongi or Hoseok could assure him anything, but they were very aware of how the mood of Namjoon lowered down increasingly.
“Don’t think too much about it, Namjoon-ah, he has been clinging onto you the whole day. Maybe he feels like he’s invading a lot of your space” Yoongi scratched the back of his nape.
“Or, he wants to spend time with us equally. Either way, i don’t think he’s mad at you, Namjoonie, you’ll see how at this night he’s back at his usual self again.”
Still, Seokjin doesn’t reach his dorm in the whole half an hour Namjoon spends to change into new clothes.
When he arrives at the lobby and waits for the whole gang to finally leave, the sky is completely navy on the outside. Jungkook is the first one to arrive, confused by finding him all on his own, Namjoon trying not to make it a big deal for the maknae. Although he entertained himself with Taehyung as well, who arrived a few minutes later, the wait felt like hours, when, actually, only twenty minutes passes until Jimin, the last one to arrive, appeared, with Seokjin at his side. He almost jumped out of his seat, reaching onto him with full will but, then again, his hyung seems to avoid him. During the little trip until they arrive at the disco, he remained quiet, catching once in while how he was sending glimpses towards him. The other five around them were concerned even when they get into the place on time.
The bodyguard at the front of the place doesn’t hesitate when they give them the tickets, counting how many of them are and finally letting them in. The club’s music is loud, but enough so they could hear each other. The music is pretty fine, and the lilac lights and good ambience can even be felt at the entrance. There’s a lot of people, but it’s not very crowded- the perks of being in a private party. Before they can even reach the bar or the dance floor, two girls, one with a hat of sequins and the other with a hawaiian necklace approach them.
“Hey, welcome! I’m Becky and this is Ashley! Before you get into the party, you need to wear something of this!” she signaled their accessories.
“Rules of the house! You don’t need anything very bizarre, come one, it would be fun!” she makes a movement with the hand, the other six asking to Namjoon what she actually said, following them on the act.
It is actually pretty fun choosing from all the additions they have stored. Taehyung immediately chooses the feather boa, Jungkook opting for some bunny ears. Hoseok asks to the girl called Becky for another hawaiian necklace, while Yoongi choose some cat ears and Jimin, somehow, had found a very big round glasses with some disco balls attached at the end of his ears. When he’s finally picking some starry shaped yellow sunglasses, tap on his shoulder catches his attention, turning around. He has seen Seokjin with some questionable clothe choices, but he can’t help to release his smile when he sees him with a necktie around his head, as a headband. Namjoon also notices he has something in his hands and his smile is shy under the lights.
“Ashley said we can use the neon paint as well. Do you want me to-put some on you?” he’s not avoiding him, not right now. Even if his ears are as red as the hibiscus or some little crabs they had found today, Namjoon knows for sure that Jin is still at his side
“It would be an honour. I want to paint some on you as well, can I?” Jin nods, vigorously. He’s back again with his usual light-hearted beat and soul and Namjoon couldn’t feel any more blessed.
At the end, the seven of them have neon paint on their bodies, some more than others. Namjoon have enjoyed his time painting the words: worldwide and handsome , each on each arm, and also painting some dots close to his eyes, making a path of crescents moons. Seokjin hasn’t been very artistic with Namjoon’s face, only painting a crown over his forehead and some hearts right on the spots where his dimples hide, the last two being the one he’s the proudest of. They finally join the dance floor, Yoongi and Hoseok being the ones offering something to drink.
Namjoon knows another fact for the day: he’s not such an excellent dancer, unlike Jimin who seems to follow every beat from every song very naturally. He tries to move with the music, jumping when all the crowd is doing the same and singing with the boys the english lyrics of the popular songs they can recognise. At some point, the group has divided and Taehyung has let out the camera again, taking some pictures at the divan with Hoseok smooching Jungkook’s cheek and with Yoongi making faces while Jimin is trying to make him dance in slow motion. Namjoon and Seokjin are dancing together, when Taehyung spots them, making them a sign. Namjoon, with his sunglasses on, attracts Seokjin with his arm around his shoulders and, with some will power, he kisses his cheek, making the other to laugh as he leans forwards with all the confetti around the air: then Taehyung takes de pic.
“Oh! I think this might be my best work yet!” Taehyung passes them the polaroid, a new song echoing in the background while Seokjin takes the pic on his hands. It’s a moment that represents joy, energy and good vibes. But, on the big surface, and even if someone wouldn’t have known the two individuals behind the photo, they would have clearly see the message those two were communicating to each other: attachment, the pleasure of being with each other: love. Namjoon feels hot thinking about it, and not because his surroundings are warming up.
“Can you give it to me later, Taehyung-ah? I want to take Joonie to the dance floor right now, because this is my jam!” he gives to the owner the polaroid again, but Namjoon barely has time to process how he’s dragged into almost the middle of the disco, Jin grabbing his shoulders and looking at him with an intense stare. The neon paint is shining vividly, and Namjoon thinks this might be the right moment to talk.
“Jin, about the moment of the beach- i just want you to know that, whatever are your thoughts or concerns, i want you to know that i’m here for anything, okay? I-i just want you to be happy, whatever your decisions or choices are.” he knows, that maybe this was a conversation for another moment. But they’re alone, at a party they had successfully being invited by luck itself, and his chest is touching the rib cage of the boy he likes so much, that he’s willing to do anything for. The smile of Seokjin turns soft and little, his doe eyes lightly squeezed by his cheeks.
“I know, silly. Now shut up that pretty mouth of yours and dance with me, pretty boy.”
He laughs, hearted dimples showing. They moved, mostly pathetically but without caring, just the company of each other and having a good time together being what mattered to them. With the melting-pot of people surrounding them, they can’t help of getting closer and closer, hips and waists almost caressing. It takes Seokjin to put his arm around his shoulder and Namjoon a grasp of his waist to look into each other's eyes, Jin with the other hand leveling the sunglasses over his head to take a better look of his face. The air is suffocating them and the music is still loud, but they’re only feeling and seeing each other. Namjoon's gaze goes right into his lips, Seokjin following with his own eyes. With his free hand, the blond cupped his cheek, eyes half-lidded, as he caressed with his thumb the little dots of paint. Jin gasps and he holds himself onto the nape of the other.
“Joonie…”
“Jin…”
“Remember what i told you about the thing i wanted to do? The one i felt like i didn’t have much time to left and that i would regret my whole life if i didn’t do it?” Namjoon nods, slowly, sharing nervous breaths. “Well, this is what i meant.”
With a last stare, they don’t hold it anymore: they leaned and, finally, their lips meet. Is a little bit slow at first, but soon their movements are getting more confident, faster and with urgency, like they can’t take enough from each other’s mouths. It’s sweet, his touch is like velvet and none of them wants to let go. Namjoon is the one breaking their embrace to take some air, with their lips barely leaving each other and their foreheads practically glued.
“You have no idea how long i’ve wanted to do this” Jin laughs lightly at the little pleased sound Namjoon lets in, one breath away to interlocked their lips together again, when an intense sound interrupted them. Some balloons had fall and a lot of people were playing along them, the couple being dragged alongside the swirl of people playing. Both hugged each other in sudden concern, laughing at the inconvenience of the situation.
At some point, they finally left the crowd, stepping right into a more peaceful spot. Tangling their arms around each other again, Namjoon pushed Seokjin against the wall, the older gasping at the desperate action, not given him a second to process how Namjoon crushed their lips together again. Following his instincts, Seokjin wraps a leg around his hip, falling into the passion more than the thought of people sending some glanced towards them. Namjoon nips at his lower lip before it’s now Jin who break the embrace to take some air, the taller taking his kisses around the chin and then the neck.
“God, Joonie, you don’t have any idea how much i wanted you.” Namjoon raises his head from the last peck he left on the older. How his eyes have opened and how he seems to be so taken back it seems like now he has processed everything that is happening.
“You-you mean it? Cause… i like you. A lot. For a very, very long time, i can’t even tell at what moment i fell for you.” Seokjin’s eyes twinkle, heartwarming smile at the words of the other as he passes his curled fingers on some hair strings. “I just- was so terrified you didn’t like me back, because i didn’t want our friendship to have a bad end.”
“You’re kidding? I’ve been pining for you for ages! Gosh, i’m so glad you feel the same way!” Namjoon dimples deepened. Both of their hearts are contented and bumping, letting go a weight their owners had been carried together without even knowing. “This is just, gosh, now just-”something seemed to striked out the mind of the older, his face changing all of the sudden from pure happiness to his eyes frowning, looking back at the floor. Namjoon is confused, and just when he’s about to search for him, Jin lets go, moving aside.
“Seokjin?” Namjoon calls him, pursuing him out of the dance floor towards the exit. Their friends caught sight of them on one of the tables, keeping track of their trace. Namjoon reaches for him, catching his hand. ”Jin, did i said something wrong?”
“What?! No, no no, you haven’t-” the older cupped his hands around the younger, eyes glistening with what it seems to be tears. His chin trembles when he keeps talking. “You haven’t said anything wrong, at all. It’s just… gosh, how can i be so stupid?”
“Why are you calling yourself stupid? Jin, please” he’s trying so hard to not release the tears. He looks around, noticing how some locals has their eyes landed on them, their friends about to jump onto the two if they notice how their hyung is about to break down.”We’re talking outside, okay? Just you and me, and you’ll tell me everything. I’m here, okay?”
A simple nod of Seokjin is all he needs to get out of the placement.
---
They reached the cost. The moon is shining with the stars being her only companion, and the calm sea of blackness is coming back and in with tranquility. A distant celebration can be seen at the border of the cliff, people cheering and golden lights on. Seokjin is hugging himself with arms crossed, tears falling silently with just some choked breathings from his nose. Namjoon wanted to leave him his space, even if he desperately wants to tell him that everything was going to be fine. But what was wrong in the first place to make Seokjin felt so down like he was feeling right now? They go through the sand, and they sit a few metres away from the shore. It’s chilly, but it’s fine. Seokjin buries his face inside his thighs and arms, Namjoon now putting a hand over his shoulder.
“Hey, we’re just ourselves now. Tell me what’s wrong”
“I-”he sniffed, looking at the face of the younger. He only sees trust and reassurance, and he knows that’s everything he could ever wished for. “I know you were scared that i will hate you, but now i’m fearing the same thing from you.”
“But, for what? And all of the sudden? How could i hate you when almost an hour ago you just confessed me?” he digs one of his hands in the sand, the other one moving along in the air.
“Because… the next year i’m-i’m studying abroad, Namjoon. And i can’t fucking believe i waited so long to confess that i love you when i could have done it before, not when i decided to make this stupid decision out of shudder.” Seokjin wishes he could be like the sea: free, able to mark his own movements on the land he’s standing, no one could control him. But, as the sea, he had a lot of uncontrollable emotions, all of them burning out and inside of him at this very moment.
“Y-You love me?” Namjoon mumbled, turning to him with hope on his voice.
“Of course i do. But, how can i suddenly tell to my parents: “oh wait, mum, dad, i want to change my plans because i discover that the boy of my dreams likes me back, can you cancel everything you’ve been preparing to me this whole month? Thank you!” he digs his face inside his hands, his exhalations wavering again.
“You sound like you didn’t want to go on the first place…” the look Seokjin sends to him tells him everything, Namjoon’s eyebrows furrow. “You… you didn’t want to go?”
“At first it was just a crazy idea, a thing i wanted to try because i’m getting so used to my daylife that i needed something more-exciting, you know? Is not that i was tired of being with you and the guys, that could never happen is just…”
“You wanted to escape. Somehow and no matter the way, out of your routine.” Seokjin nods.
“And, of course, my parents loved the idea. Something that could make their youngest son to spirit up a little, to make something with his life instead of being something that you’re not even proud of... But now that i know that-that you like me back i-i can’t do it. I can’t leave you here, i can’t-take- the hardship that is to know that i’ll be away with you just because a last moment decision. ”
Seokjin watches the waves, silence falling again between them. Namjoon takes a deep breath and moves along the sand, embracing Seokjin on a deep hug. He doesn’t expect it, yet his face is buried inside the crock of his shoulders. He doesn’t have more tears left to cry, because he doesn’t feel like crying or sobbing anymore. Not around him. Namjoon breaks the hug, just moving a little so he could grabbed the hand of the older and kissed his palm, Jin’s ears already pink.
“Listen. The thought of you leaving breaks me completely. I told you that i only want your happiness, and if that means that i need to wait for you for a whole year, until our summers meets again, then i’ll wait anything i can. I waited this long to confess you, i can wait for you whatever it takes to properly ask you to be my boyfriend-even if right now is the thing i want the most in this world.”
“Y-You want me to be your boyfriend?” the brunet, repositionates himself, not letting go of his hand out of the taller.
“More than anything. But, then again, this is a choice i want you to think, a choice about your future. I don’t want to interfere on it like a bug or tell you to stay with me just because we just confessed. I want you to think about what would be better for you and if you want to take this chance away. All has his perks and all has his loss. Believe me when i’ll say, that no matter what you choose, i’ll stay by your side. I always will.”
Seokjin keeps staring at him, profoundly and, somehow, optimistically. He digs his face again into Namjoon, hugging him once again, and none of them breaks it. They stayed like this for a while, the blond circling his hands on the broad back of the brunet, trying to calm his breaths.
“You know i love you too, right?” Namjoon asks, Jin nodding tenderly.
“And you know that i want you to be my boyfriend as well?” Namjoon repeats the action, now both tearing their hug to look properly at the other. “I need some time to think this, Joonie… it won’t take me too long i- i think i can know for sure by tomorrow.”
“You sure?”
“Very. Give me some time with the boys as well, i think that would help.”
“When are you planning to telling me?”
“In the barbecue. Tomorrow, at the night. I think i’ll have already make my decision by then.”
Namjoon nods, understanding. Now there was just time to wait.
---
The wait is not tortuous or anguish. Namjoon respects his time for the full day, the only moment where they’re together the very momentof the dawn. Seokjin believed he was still sleeping, the sun coming out of his matutine bath, coating the naked back of Namjoon as his snores had slowed down in volume. Seokjin remains on the bed, and when Namjoon rethinks about the possibility of turning around and greet him, some lips brushes behind him. He has to take all his willpower to not move an inch, feeling goosebumps as the path of Jin’s mouth ends on the mole right at the back of his neck, him touching lovingly the little hairs at his nape. He wants so much to grab him and kiss him, and tell him how much he wishes he can do that with him every day of his life that he remembers why he hasn’t move yet. With a last little rumble, Seokjin leaves the bed, and five minutes later Namjoon “wakes up”.
Seokjin and Namjoon aren’t with each other, nor the midday or the afternoon. The duo has been alternating his meetings with each of the members of the group. Even if the others still don’t know what is happening yet, they’ll soon do, hoping for the best to two of their best friends. Namjoon enjoys every single second alongside his hyungs and dongsaengs, each one offering him a new activity for the end of their short holidays. When there’s still one hour to their dinner, Namjoon looks outside the bedroom of their hotel. Jin had go for a walk with Yoongi, and Hoseok is waiting for him in the lobby to start with the barbecue. He knows that whatever the answer would be, he needs to do this for Seokjin. He needs to let him go.
He helps while Hoseok is chirping a song he surely knows the melody, but doesn’t recognize the title. The maknaes arrive with the food, Jungkook drumming with his fingers the table with impatience for the lamb skewers to be done as soon as possible, Taehyung and Jimin occupied while cutting the vegetables already. Namjoon, meanwhile, tries to chop the meat with Hoseok and Jungkook, he’s unable to not stare to the path Yoongi and Seokjin had left, still no sight of the both of them. His best friend taps his shoulders at some moment, catching his attention.
“Namjoon, we know you’re waiting for him. Go sit around while we finish this.”
“But, i should help you as well since we’re a tea-” Jimin took out the little potato he was peeling out of his hands.
“Stop stressing yourself and go!” he orders, Jungkook pushing him playfully out of the bench, withou many options to agree or disagree.
He decides to sit down on the sand, admiring how the sun, just as it was a few hours ago, is now coming to the end of the horizon. The sun always has an end and a beginning, just like many humans do. He thinks about how, today, this might mean the end of a temporary road he has been walking alongside his favorite person in the world, or the beginning to step into a new one, one where he can give all the love he has been carving to give him. He thinks about what would Seokjin have said about it, smirking to himself of whatever witty answer the older would let out.
“That sun looks like an egg yolk.” a voice says right behind him. He chuckles loudly, then recognising the voice. He turns around, finding some broad shoulders and a face that can be a portrait from royalty. “Hi.” Seokjin salutes.
“Hi.” he sits at his side, only a few inches away from the other. They admire the sea quietly, without telling any other word to the other. Both of their hearts were beating in anticipation, the warm breeze of summer and the sunlight only increasing the nerves dancing in the air.
“Have you-” Namjoon begins, his hand squashing the ground. He can perfectly felt the tremble of his own words while speaking.”-have you made your decision?
“I did” Jin interlocks his fingers, even if they’re a little covered in sand. With just that little act, Seokjin wishes he could smash every fear his companion is feeling right at this moment.
“And “he gulps, before continuing. He knows his hyung is now watching at him, knowing what are going to be the next words coming out of his mouth. It’s not Seokjin’s future only holding on his hands now, but his as well. “... what’s the beredict?
“I’m staying.”
Namjoon lets go the breath he has been holding, looking back at the brunet. He’s smiling widely, and the grip of their palms hasn’t increased not even a little. The waves must have bring some salty into his eyes, because he can feel how his eyes are starting to soak in tears.
“Y-You mean it?”
“One hundred percent.”
“But, have you talked with-?”
“My parents are a little angry at me, but i know they’ll understand. Suck it.”
“About your career?”
“I can finish my studies there without any problem. That means that Yoongi won’t need to find another roommate, that i'll stay with you and you can all come to my graduation and, really, a lot more of benefits. Besides, if i want to improve my english i can only ask to my personal teacher that now i have” Jin strokes the chin and lower lips of Namjoon, him know knowing already his voice is playing around at this point. He follows his game as his heart still tries to analyze the whole situation.
“You know that teachers are need to be paid for it, right?” he leans, caressing the collarbones the older shows under the collar of his shirt.
“And what can this teacher wants to be my payment for his classes?” Jin doesn’t hold it this time, his body interlocks his legs around Namjoon’s, the other holding his hips, and nuzzles his own nose against the cute little one of the younger, him laughing as he tries to keep his stare where the other is. Seokjin locks his hands behind him, smile so bubbly it could make everyone feel at ease just to look at it.
“Seokjin,”his voice is not trembling anymore, because now he’s more than sure of what he wants at this moment of his life.” can i be your boyfriend?”
“I would be glad to, Joonie… only if i can be your boyfriend as well.”
“Take it for granted.”
Their kiss is at the sunset is more confident, more full of passion and more full of love. Namjoon keeps kissing against the teeth of his boyfriend, because Seokjin can’t help to smile very widely how because of the situation. He peppers his whole face, which only makes Seokjin giggles to increase, but Namjoon can’t help it. He’s the happiest man alive, and he's coming back home tomorrow with the boy he loves at his side, now his offical boyfriend. And, the best part, is that there’s no need to rush anymore. Now they know they have all the time in the world between their hands, whatever is aheading to them, it would be something they would face together. At that times, is the cheers they can heard in the distance from their friends, one half congratulating them and the other half calling for them to come and eat. Looking at each other and sharing one last peck, they stand up, holding hands, sharing smiles and starry eyes.
Namjoon thought it wasn’t going to be easy. In the end, every time he looked at the wall of his college room, with the polaroids hanging on the wall, and remembers those days now so far away from him, he thinks of how lucky he felt at that time. He, still, feels that luck go across his whole body while keeping close the embrace around a sleepy Seokjin at his side. Their summers will meet again soon, on their anniversary, and none of them would let the waves take away the land they had made together.
