Chapter Text
Time crawls on when you’re waiting for the song to start.
Early morning. The sun rose slowly over the Tokyo city skyline, illuminating the streets as they gradually started to fill with early morning commuters. Light bounced off glass, glittering like fiery gems reflected in half-lidded eyes as they watched the sky brighten. Lips pursed, blowing delicately into the coffee mug clenched between pale hands. The rest of the small apartment was quiet, doors closed, curtains open. A small piece of pinkish paper was stuck to the front of the fridge, neat handwriting speaking of food and well wishes.
Muted humming filled the main room, interrupted only by a quiet clink as the mug was placed in the sink. More sound erupted as the phone sitting on the small table lit up, blaring an alarm. A tsk of annoyance before the alarm was shut off. Dark red hair was tucked behind a pierced ear, revealing dark green and brown eyes. The girl sighed. Time to go.
Pulling a paper bag out of the fridge, they peered inside to check that the right food was in it, before the bag disappeared in a small flash of light. A water bottle followed, as did a large black and gold backpack containing text books and stationary. As they passed the fridge again, they paused to check the post-it stuck to its front.
Hey sweetie.
I’ll be home for a couple hours at lunch but then i’ve gotta go back to work, so I’ll leave your dinner in the microwave for you. I should be home in time to watch a film this evening so don’t go to bed too soon!
Have fun at school!
Love,
Mom
A smile. Another post-it was peeled off the pile next to the fridge and a pen pulled out of the air.
Hey mom.
I’m gonna be meeting up with a friend after work tonight, so I might be back later than usual. I’ll call you if anything comes up.
Love,
Hana
Hana stuck their tongue out, carefully sticking the post-it next to their mom’s on the fridge door and sliding one of the small rainbow magnets across to sit between them. They gave a small hum of approval, turning away and grabbing a tube of black lipstick, applying it to their upper lip and making sure it was dry before storing it with their quirk. The school uniform's grey blazer was grabbed and stored, a studded leather jacket pulled on in its place. Quiet, metallic clicks filled the room as a tongue piercing was tapped repeatedly against teeth while nimble fingers pulled long hair into a ponytail and changed out numerous overly-flashy ear piercings for simple gold studs.
One last check around the apartment, a hum of approval, and Hana Kuroi set off.
