Work Text:
Uraraka Ochako was enjoying her second year at UA high. She was slowly rising to the top of her class both academically and in her hero courses. After everything 1-A had gone through their first year, she was glad their second year was going more smoothly. There was only one thing that she couldn't stop worrying about. Well, one person.
“Deku-kun’s not here again?” the stressed girl observed while sitting at her typical lunch table.
“He’ll probably join us soon.” Shoto Todoroki said reassuringly.
“He apologized to us before leaving the classroom saying he had something he needed to get done.” Tenya Iida informed his friends at the table.
Ochako scanned the cafeteria for another table and locked eyes with Mina Ashido who gave her a knowing look. There was someone noticeably absent from their table as well.
“Bakugo-kun also didn’t make it to his table...” she said suspiciously.
Shoto coughed and wiggled uncomfortably “We’ve all been a little busy lately. You know after everything.”
Before Ochako could respond, Izuku Midoriya rushed to their table out of breath. His hair was more messed up than usual and his uniform coat was slightly disheveled.
“S-Sorry I’m late! I had a small errand I had to do! Haha!” The flustered boy stuttered out while rubbing the back of his head.
“Deku-kun! Your lip is bleeding!” At the observation from Ochako, the boy quickly covered his mouth before glaring off to the side as Shoto slapped his palm on his forehead.
“Oh, I’ve b-been having a r-really hard time drinking water lately um th-they must be really chapped!” He suddenly grabbed his water bottle and guzzled it as fast as he could.
This had become common behavior for the green haired boy sitting across from her shortly after their second year started. He was a lot jumpier, got startled easily and had a habit of arriving late to places with his hair and clothes messed up and sometimes he even had what appeared to be bruises or physical marks on him. Coincidentally this sort of action also corresponded with him spending a lot more time with a certain blonde haired classmate. Uraraka was worried. She knew they had a history and while Bakugo's attitude had improved dramatically, Ochako couldn't help but notice little signs that there was something amiss about their interactions.
“Midoriya, if you’re in any kind of trouble, you know you can tell us!” Iida insisted while chopping the air.
Ochako looked back at Mina’s table and sure enough Bakugo was walking towards it with his lunch, also late. She grabbed her phone and texted her pink friend.
Again.
He said he was in the bathroom this time. Ashido swiftly texted back.
Deku-kun’s mouth was bleeding.
It’s not him. Mina defended
It could be.
I’m telling you, it’s not him. Bakugo’s actually been in an oddly good mood lately.
Idk maybe he gets in a better mood after punching people in the face?
OCHAKO
“Uraraka-kun! It is rather rude to text others while in the presence of friends!” Iida scolded the troubled girl snapping her out of her thoughts.
She suddenly jumped up and began punching the air.
“Deku-kun! If anyone is bothering you! You tell us!”
“I think Midoriya can handle himself if someone is truly bothering him.” Todoroki interjected.
“I m-mean it Uraraka, you don’t have to worry!”
“Are you sure? Cause it’s such a Deku thing to do to not fight back you know! Send me at em!” The passionate girl declared as she punched the air a few more times.
Iida stood up moved by his friends passion. “I’m sure Midoriya knows all of us would be ready to fight for his honor! But he is precisely the kind of person who would not request such assistance. It is a matter now that the perpetrator knows he is not messing with an individual, but a team!” the class representative declared while mirroring Uraraka’s punches.
“Y-you guys! You’ve got the wrong idea! Please sit down....” Deku protested before glancing down at his phone and responding frantically to his own text messages.
Todoroki slurped his soba noodles in peace ignoring the spectacle in front of him while glancing over at his friends phone.
Ochako bravely puffed her face out before eventually giving up and sitting down. She gave her phone one more glance to see the texts she received from Mina.
Omg. Ochako. You’re such a dork.
Omg. Omg. He’s laughing. I repeat Bakugo Katsuki is like pink in the face, like pinker than me laughing.
This is too weird. We must investigate!
Ochako glanced over to see Kirishima and Kaminari pulling their hair out and making weird gestures as Bakugo was clearly telling them to shut it while holding back more laughter. He then caught her staring and stuck his tongue out before making a throat cutting gesture.
Meet me after class ASAP! She texted her friend. An investigation was definitely needed.
After classes were over and the final bell rang, Ochako jumped out of her seat and made a bee line to Mina. The two eyed their friends suspiciously as they got up out of their seats. It was subtle, but Ochako made sure to note that Bakugo gave Deku a somewhat menacing glare.
“I seriously don’t think it’s what you're thinking Ochako. Bakugo has so moved on from that past behavior.” Mina whispered harshly.
“Yeah, but you know when it comes to Deku-kun...”
“What makes you think Midoriya isn’t the one causing the problem?” The horned girl crossed her arms and huffed.
“Huh? You can’t seriously believe Deku-kun of all people would-“
“Oh please. Midoriya’s not all innocent you know. It takes two to tango and they both got in that fight last year. Midoriya in particular has gotten in so much trouble, maybe he’s the one dragging Bakugo into something!” Ashido made her case.
“Well we’ll just have to get to the bottom of this then....” Ochako grumbled. She looked back again and noticed the blonde reaching for the boy of her affection's hand only for him to pull it away swiftly. Deku's flinching was all but confirmation for her.
"I have an idea."
The two girls met up at Heights Alliance at around 6 PM just outside of Deku's room. Todoroki, Bakugo and Deku were interning together again and tended to return around 6:30. The few times Ochako managed to run into the three, she noticed Bakugo had a habit of making some excuse to go into his childhood friends room alone.
"How are we getting in?" Mina questioned while looking back and forth to make sure no one caught them.
"Deku-kun leaves a spare key under the mat."
"Ooo, is there a particular reason you know that Chako-chan???" The excited girl teased. Mina was a sucker for romance and whatever Midoriya and Ochako had going on was like her own personal reality show.
"We had a study party here once and I saw him get it!!! That's all!" The flustered girl defended herself as she lifted up her friends doormat and found the key. She unlocked his door and pulled Mina in towards her before putting it back where she found it and shutting the door.
"He really is a huge fanboy huh?" The pink haired girl observed while the gravity of the girls' situation hit them.
Ochako couldn't help the blush that was creeping on her face as she took in her surroundings. She noticed the room smelled like him and felt uneasy. She had never been alone in his room before and she felt like a creep for being there without his knowledge.
"O-okay! We can do this! Let's just look around while we wait and see if maybe there is something here that can give us a clue to what's going on?"
"I'll start with his notebooks!" Mina excitedly rushed to Deku's desk. She was quite fascinated by her classmates note taking habit and secretly hoped to find whatever notes he had on her.
"See if you can find something that looks like a diary!" Ochako ordered before opening the closet to see if there was more torn clothing she could find to confirm her suspicions.
"Hey! There's a notebook here that says 'Notes for Young Midoriya?' Thats what All Might calls him, right?" Mina observed but before she opened the notebook to discover what was inside, something in the opened closet caught her eye.
"Oh my goodness! He has costumes!!! He really is the biggest fanboy!" Ashido excitedly ran and grabbed an All Might costume that was on a hanger.
"Focus Mina!" The flustered girl ordered.
"I just HAVE to try it on. Come on Ochako! They're not gonna be here for a bit anyway!" Mina bounced.
"You really shouldn't-"
"Oooo, there's one for you too!"
The temptation was too great for Uraraka to resist and after changing swiftly, the girls posed for each other while taking pictures on their phones.
"Say 'I Am Here!'" Mina ordered as her friend did her best All Might stance with her right hand in the air.
"Okay okay. We really should change back now, they're gonna be here any minute!" Ochako giggled out.
As if on cue, a rough voice interrupted the fun the two were having.
"Did your forget your damn key again Deku?"
"SHIT!" The two girls whispered in unison. Panic overtook them as they ran into the closet and shut the door as swiftly as possible. Uraraka's heart was beating out of her chest as she mentally prepared herself for what she was about to observe. She cared deeply for Deku and hated to see him getting hurt. But catching Bakugo in the act was the only way she could find out for certain what was going on.
The door unlocked and she could the hear the boys entering the room.
"K-Kacchan you should r-really make sure the door is closed this time before-"
A loud thud interrupred whatever it was Deku was about to say. It sounded like he had been shoved against the wall.
"I knew it!" Ochako whispered after exchanging looks with Mina.
"Mm!" The girls heard Deku squeak out as if he was in some sort of pain.
"Open the blinds! Hurry!"
Ochako opened them slightly ready to jump out and save her friend. What she saw instead was Bakugo with his hands all over Deku...and their lips firmly placed together.
"How am I supposed to go all day without doing this huh?" He gruffly asked the boy.
"There was lunch Kacchan" Deku gently reminded him while giggling and giving him a soft sweet kiss.
The girls gasped. Their jaws dropping as low as possible.
"Oh..." Mina uttered before giving her friend a concerned look.
Uraraka was feeling a mixture of emotions. The sight before her hurt, but she was still in shock so the painful part did not have time to steep in.
"Yeah, don't be mad at me about that." Bakugo teased while touching the part of Deku's lips that scabbed over.
"Too late. I'm mad." Deku pouted.
"Good. You kiss better when you're mad." Bakugo slammed their lips together once again as Deku wrapped his arms around him and pulled at his blonde locks.
"W-we really shouldn't be here. Uraraka squeaked to Mina but the girls could not stop watching.
The blonde spitfire ran his hands up Deku's chest and dragged him to the bed swiftly unbuttoning his uniform coat while struggling to remove it.
"Take it off." He demanded.
"K-Kacchan wait..."
"Ochako... this is..." Mina's face was turning Pinker than her natural tone and her mouth started drooling at the sight before her.
"We shouldn't be here, oh God we should not be here." Uraraka buried her face in her hands before anxiously looking back up to see what would happen next.
"Come on. Take the damn coat off." Bakugo pouted at the nervous Deku.
"I-I don't want you to have to see my arms..." Deku squeaked out.
"Huh? What's wrong with your arms?"
"You know..they're filled with all these ugly scars...and I-" before he could finish his sentence, Bakugo softly pressed his lips against his.
"Deku...let me see..." his voice softened as the freckled boy let him slowly take off the coat. Deku's tear ducts were filling up as Bakugo pulled his scarred up hand to his lips.
"How'd you get this one again?"
"During my fight with Todoroki..." Deku reminded him.
"Mmmmmm bastard. I'll kill him you know." Bakugo said after slowly kissing every one of the scars on his hand. He then traced his hands up to Deku's elbow.
"And this one?"
"That was my fight with Muscular during camp when I saved Kota.." Deku nearly whispered.
"If he doesn't die in prison, I'll make sure to do it myself." Bakugo said while kissing the scar.
"K-Kacchan..." The insecure boy wiggled at the touch. Bakugo dragged his lips higher to the scars on his boyfriends forearms.
"And who do I get to kill for these?"
Mina's eyes began watering and Ochako couldn't help but smile at this side of Bakugo she had never seen before.
"We really shouldn't be here." She whispered feeling guilty about the invasion of the boys' privacy.
"This mark here is from when Todoroki, Iida and I took on Stain"
"Half and Half is losing his lifespan more and more each second" Bakugo grumbled.
"A-and I think this one is from-" but before Deku could finish, Bakugo pulled him in for a deep kiss.
"I love you, idiot. No matter how much dumb shit you get yourself into. You got it?"
Mina couldn't help but squeal at the word "love" and Ochako quickly slapped her mouth shut. She braced herself as she looked back at the blinds and saw red eyes shooting daggers into hers.
"Is something wrong Kacchan?"
Bakugo scoffed before an evil smile spread on his face.
"You know Round Face and Four Eyes made a huge scene in the lunch room."
"Yeah thanks to someone ." Deku said while pointing at his lip scab.
"Yeah well I bet Round Face wishes she could give you marks like that."
Mina and Ochako exchanged heated looks. They were caught and now they were being mercilessly played with.
"Kacchan. I told you, you don't have to be jealous of Uraraka-san!"
"Oh please. She doesn't do a good job of hiding it."
"Well what about Kirishima???" Deku deflected.
Now it was Mina's turn to pay attention.
"Shitty Hair is like that with everyone. Except for that dumb Pinky who could never measure up to me."
"And Kaminari? You let him call you Kacchan!" Deku pushed.
"Go on. You're cute when you're jealous." Bakugo leaned in for another passionate kiss as he pulled Deku's head back by his hair and let his mouth travel from his lips to his neck putting on a show for the audience stuck in the closet.
"Ahhh Kacchan..." the flustered boy in his arms moaned out as he tried to fight his boyfriend off. His face was more pink than Mina's as he couldn't help but enjoy the position he was in.
Bakugo kissed his neck lower and lower before looking straight at the girls observing his handiwork. He then grinned as he pulled Deku close to him and peered deep in his eyes.
"Deku. Make love to me."
"K-ka--aaah" Deku's eyes went wide in shock and he was about to squeal himself before the girls in the closet did for him.
"Okay! Okay! We're here! We're sorry!" Both girls jumped out still wearing the All Might costumes.
"A-Ashido-san??? Uraraka-san????"
"Sorry Midoriya! Umm congratulations??!!" Ashido sheepishly said before running out of the room.
"Explain yourself Uraraka!" Bakugo barked.
"W-why are you wearing that???" Deku asked.
The guilt completely overwhelmed the brunette as she faced her friend. She had snuck into his room and witnessed some of his very private thoughts and not only that, she was wearing some of his clothing without his permission. She felt absolutely ashamed of herself.
"I-I'm sorry Deku! I was just really worried and-"Ochako stumbled to get her words out but before she could finish her thoughts, Todoroki wandered into the room looking down at his phone.
"Are you two done making out yet? There's something I wanna show Midoriya." The two toned boy questioned before looking up and taking in the sight of Uraraka in full All Might costume staring at Deku in Bakugo's lap.
"You said I couldn't join whatever it is you guys do, but she can?"
"I-I'll have this back to you by t-tomorrow Deku-kun! Again! Sorry!" Ochako blessed Todoroki for arriving at the perfect time as she ran to her room in tears. She swiftly shut the door behind her and sank to the floor burying her head in her knees. She didn't know why she was crying. Was she that embarrassing at being caught? Was she sad? She should be glad. It means her friend wasn't being hurt. And clearly Bakugo made him very happy. So why wouldn't the tears stop? Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock on her door. She sucked up her tears and put on her best "happy voice."
"Who is it?"
"Uraraka-san...can I come in?" It was Deku. She definitely owed him an explanation but she was highly embarrassed.
"S-sure." She opened the door and he entered the room. Normally she would be flustered by these circumstances but she had no reason to anymore.
"Uraraka! Are you crying?" Ugh. He was so Deku. Uraraka's heart broke a little more at seeing the concern on his face.
"I-I'm fine! I'm just embarrassed is all... And relieved! I was so worried that..I don't know, its silly. I was worried he was hurting you! If you had just told me..." She began to say before the boy in front on her grabbed one of her hands.
"I'm sorry for worrying you, Uraraka. But I have my reasons for not wanting everyone to know. It's very selfish of me I know. Only Todoroki knows. No one else. Do you think you and Ashido can keep it to yourselves?" He pleaded with his eyes. Ochako couldn't help but notice he looked haunted by something.
"Of course." She reassured her friend.
"Also I'm sorry you had to see all...that," He rubbed his neck with the back of his hand clearly embarrassed. "Kacchan gets a little carried away sometimes." He chuckled as a blush danced across his freckles. The brunette girl blushed as flashes of the boys all over each other danced in her mind. Bakugo sure was passionate. She thought to her herself.
"Is he good to you?" She asked, concern escaping her voice.
"The best!" Deku smiled the most genuine happy smile Ochako had ever seen. It made her heart skip a beat. Bakugo clearly made him very happy. That was all she could ask for.
"I'm glad!" She returned the smile and gave him a thumbs up. She wouldn't admit it but her heart was torn in half and what she really needed was to be alone.
"You should probably get back to your man then." Ochako teased and the two shared an awkward giggle.
"I'll see you in class Uraraka!" and with that, Deku happily rushed out of the room.
Mixed feelings overwhelmed the girl as she sat on her bed and replayed the events that occurred that day. Bakugo was sweet with Deku and it brought her a comfort that he would be taken care of. As for her own feelings, she was happy she could finally let them go. I'm here to be a hero. She thought to herself. Deku was one of the sweetest boys she ever met and while she could never be with him like Bakugo could, she was glad she had him in her life.
"I'm glad you're happy." She whispered to herself as she looked up at the mirror facing her bed.
She really needed to change out of this ridiculous costume.
