Chapter Text
“I hate you,” a blonde-haired girl stood soaked from head to toe.
To Childe, the image of Lumine in that state with a scowl on her face reminded him of the kitten his brother had adopted after it had been subjected to washing. A smile was itching to break on his face, but the redhead schooled his expression and plasted on a look of concern.
“Don’t say that, pretty girl. You’ll break my heart,” he sighed, bringing a hand close to her face to wipe a stray droplet on her forehead. Before he could, he got blasted with a whirlwind of cool air.
At that moment, Lumine’s golden eyes looked nothing like the sunshine he often likened them to.
“Who in their right mind,” she sputtered, “Would use someone else as a human shield?”
The culprit of the water prank intended for the redhead, a fellow student and one of the said redhead’s friends, was very very glad that Lumine hadn’t directed her anger towards him instead.
Onlookers watched the scene before them, knowing that the combination of Childe and Lumine together always made for an entertaining show. After all, everyone thought of Lumine as an angel… an angel with a temper. No one wanted to cross her.
Childe chuckled at her question, “Me?”
Except for one person, so it seems.

“Hey pretty girl, you know I’m going to start blushing if you keep looking at me like that.”
The sound of someone laughing after getting hit echoed in the empty classroom. Empty, save for a girl with damp hair and a boy with slashed up clothes standing by the windows.
“I’m can’t believe I got into detention because of you,” Lumine said. She rubbed her arm, grateful that the teachers had allowed her to change before administering punishment. It was strange that they didn’t offer that same thing to Childe, but she wans’t about to point it out. Her gaze was focused on the view of the outside; the sight of meteors flashing through the sky with a downwards projection reflected on her eyes. Childe sighed, rubbing the back of his neck.
“I’m sorry, Lumi.” He reached for her face, and this time, she begrudgingly let him stroke her cheek. “I know you wanted to watch the meteor shower up by Stormbearer Point. It’s my fault,”
The girl swallowed, “I guess… I’m sorry for drawing my sword on you.”
Seeing as her eyes had finally softened and she was fixing her gaze on him, Childe came closer. Slowly, he wrapped his arms around her soft form, grateful that she didn’t push him away.
“I may or may not have deserved it. I mean, who in their right mind would use such an adorable, kind ojou-sama as a human shield?”
“Keep on sweet-talking and I’ll use you as a human training dummy.”
“Use me however you want, pretty girl. I’m yours.”
Lumine really wanted that to be true, but there was always a voice in the back of her head telling her that it wasn’t. She could never trust him, not really. He had made her certain of that before.
But for now, she would simply enjoy this dangerous balance they were maintaining, trying to not think of the depths she would fall into when the tightrope snaps.
For a while, they just stood there, swimming in their own thoughts.

“Don’t you think it’s a little dumb that they left two very attractive kids at the height of adolescence alone in a locked room together?” Childe mumbled into the sensitive area of her neck.
Lumine could only let out a little whimper in response.
She pulled on his hair as his kisses started turning into bites, “You can’t leave a hickey.”
The redhead frowned, “You’d look more beautiful than you already do with my mark on you.” Plus it would show tell that pyro bastard that you’re mine; he didn’t voice out that other sentiment.
“We can’t let other people know,” she looked at him with hazy eyes. Childe pouted, then firmly nodded, simply eager to go back to business.
She tugged on his hair again, and this time, her mouth descended upon his. He had a plump lower lip; soft as a cloud. Lumine ran her tongue over it. In general, Childe was a well-built person without an ounce of fat to his frame, so she was overly fond of the soft parts of him.
Biting on it opened up his mouth for her to take.
Lumine could feel the heat of his palm on the back of her neck, slowly moving to twine his fingers with her golden locks. The slightest bit of pressure on the base of her scalp caused a shiver to run down her spine.
His other hand was on her thigh, creeping upwards ever so slightly. The girl wasn’t sure how, but somehow the two had managed to teleport to the teacher’s desk; she was sitting on the edge with her legs wrapped around him as he straddled her.
They both gasped when they were forced to come up for air.
Childe couldn’t help but groan as he took a good look at the girl in his arms. With half-lidded dark golden eyes, a deep red coloring the apples of her cheeks, and hair that looked more like a bird’s nest than anything, he had never seen a more appealing sight.
He leaned down. “Ojou-sama,” he was still breathless from their make out earlier, and the heat of his words tickled her ear. “It hurts.”
The blonde let out a soft laugh, knowing that if she looked down she would see him straining in the confines of his pants. Her hand moved down, holding him. The groan that escaped his lips made Lumine smile. “Then-“
Both of them froze as they both heard in that moment, the clack of a heel against tile.

Their teacher unlocked the door of the room, unsurprised to see the two of her top students sitting as far away as possible from each other. Although both were brilliant and could potentially work wonders together, they were constantly in arguments.
She and a few other of her coworkers were hoping that in this detention session, they would talk about their issues and get along, but of course, that didn’t seem to be the case.
“Alright kiddos, your detention period is over. Try not to get into fights with each other again next time, okay?” She said it even when she knew her words were pointless.
Lumine nodded, quickly getting out of her seat and speeding towards the door, “Thank you, ma’am. And… I’ll do my best!” The teacher laughed, “Slow down kiddo. Don’t run down the stairways like you always do. Look, you’re face is already beat red from that short distance.”
The blonde girl sputtered, doubling the speed of her escape.
“And you, Mr. Childe?”
The redhead looked up from staring at his desk and gave the teacher a heartbreaking smile. “If it’s alright with you Teach, I’ll just sit here for a bit. I’ll go back down in a while.”
