“...how your words ring through
something kinda sweet and blue
and i knew that you’d been understanding
everything that i’d said too…”
The breeze picked up outside the bedroom window, rustling a wind chime that hung outside. The sounds it made sent colors spiralling into Shigaraki’s head, reflective cerulean and opaque mauve, little sparkles of red and golden and a hint of pale green. He sighed dreamily and curled into himself a bit more, trapping the heat that radiated off the body next to him.
Dabi was haphazardly strung out across the bed, dead to the world and the little earth creatures in it. He reflexively had a hand stretched out towards his lover, capturing his wrist if it ever moved too close. The young man might be a deep sleeper, but it seemed a needier version of himself possessed his body when he laid down in bed.
An hour passed by before Dabi opened his eyes, eyelashes fluttering and drool stuck to his chin. He lifted himself on his elbows, and wiped a hand over his face, removing the grime of sleep from his body. Turning around, he basked in the sunlight of the open window, listening to the birds chirp and embracing the warm glow that encompassed the bed.
His eyes flitted down to the man next to him, snoring softly and situated in a fetal position. Shigaraki seemed to be muttering something, incoherent babbles that made Dabi smile and slide his fingers through the sky blue hair. He traced his thumb along a cheekbone, under an eye, and across a parched lip. Shigaraki opened his eyes as Dabi started to scratch his scalp.
“Morning, sunshine,” Dabi grinned and cradled the other man’s cheek in his hand.
Shigaraki returned the expression. “Hi.”
“You okay? You kinda passed out last night.”
Squinting in annoyance, the younger man sighed. “I’m fine. Just… needed the sleep.”
“Yeah. But it’s nicer here, than in the city. Feels like I can finally relax. Like.. I don’t have to worry. About you or my brothers.”
Shigaraki turned onto his back and stretched his arms above his head. “Why would you worry?”
“Oh, you know, it’s needless worrying. Something I think is instinct when it’s just anxiety.”
“So living away from all the hustle and traffic and fuckin’ people is helping you?”
Dabi nodded and caressed a circle into Shigaraki’s skin. “Yeah. We made the right decision moving out.”
Shigaraki pressed his hand (careful to lift his pinky) onto Dabi’s, trapping it on his face. “We did.”
Smiling, Dabi pushed away the sheets and sat on the younger man’s thighs, straddling his lap. “So, what’s going on in that brain of yours?”
Shigaraki placed his hands on his lover’s hips. “You.”
“Booo! That was way too cheesy. You should at least put a little bit of thought into it.”
“Hmm… your dick?”
A chuckle escaped Dabi’s mouth. “I like your thinking. But I don’t think you’d be able to handle it.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Oh really? I think it’s the other way around, baby .”
Dabi laughed deeper, hands digging into Shigaraki’s shoulders. “Um, I’m pretty sure I’m the one to stick a dick in your ass.”
“I could still be dominant. You’ve heard of power bottoms, haven’t you?”
“I have, just haven’t seen one in action.”
Shigaraki’s eyes widened. “You’re looking at one!”
Smirking, Dabi ran his fingers across his lover’s chest and rubbed a thumb against a hardening nipple. “Princess, you are the farthest thing from a power bottom.”
Grumbling, the younger man turned his head to the side and stared at Dabi’s pillow, tempted for a second to inhale the scent, then snapping back to the present and deciding to grumble a bit more.
Dabi just sighed and cupped Shigaraki’s face, turning it so they made eye contact. “Don’t worry about it, sweetheart. I love you regardless of your position in bed.”
Shigaraki giggled at that, rubbing his cheek in Dabi’s warm hands. “I love you too, dumbass.”
“Do we have to get up or am I allowed to fuck you into the mattress?”
Sighing, Shigaraki ran his hands through his mop of hair, tangled from sleep. “We have jobs, idiot. Jobs that we’re probably already late for.”
Dabi leaned down and slotted their lips together, chastely kissing and then pulling away to speak. “Hero duty can wait. This boner can’t.”
“Ew fuck off! Get the fuck off me!”
The older man cackled and clutched his stomach as he rolled off his lover and onto the bed next to him. “Come on, you know you want it.”
“No, I don’t! Fuck you! Just--fuck off.” Shigaraki hid his smile and crawled out of bed, the sun shining around his figure as Dabi admired him. The windchimes clinked out a tune again, little notes hitting in random places and creating something that was easy to forget, but stood still in your memory nonetheless.
“Do you ever think about how our lives could be different?” Dabi asked, a feeling of uneasiness and longing washing over him. The kind of emotion that became frightened of the world and all the little decisions that’ve been made over the course of mankind. The kind that wanted everything to stay exactly the way it was.
“Sometimes. But, I don’t need to. I already have everything I want.” Shigaraki turned his head and smiled at his lover, reassuring and soft.
That was all Dabi needed to let go of that emotion. Maybe some things weren’t worth thinking about.
“Now get out of bed. We’ve got some lives to save, Touya .”
Dabi smiled and rolled off the bed. “Whatever you say, Tenko.”
