Dannymay Day 3: Portal

Work Text:

It wasn't unusual for weird shit to happen to Danny, if anything he expected something weird to happen almost every day at this point, his entire life was weird.

So when a giant, dark purple portal appeared in front of him, beckoning him into the immense darkness inside of it, he didn't even question it.

The other side of the portal was breathtaking, a never ending void littered with sparkling stars, in the middle of it, a small temple with strange glyphs that he could not recognize, but somehow still felt extremely familiar.

As he slowly floated closer to the temple he had the vague feeling of being watched, shuddering a little at the cold feeling of the smooth, stone floor underneath his feet as he landed.

“And here I was certain you would refuse my invitation.”

He looks behind him and the stars blink at him,as if they were multiple eyes watching his every move.

“Im sorry..do i know you?” he asked cautiously, looking around for the source of the voice

A laugh echoes through the void, making the ghost child flinch slightly.

“Oh no, we have never met. But you should know of me, you got that little book of Greek mythos from your little goth friend did you not?”

He tries to rattle his brain, thinking of the book, trying to remember anything about endless voids and weird omnipotent voices. Erebus? No, he had weird maze chambers. It could've been Nyx, but he had met her at least once, and her voice was way different. Besides, she was the night, not an endless void.

Another laugh comes from the void, making him jump.

“I see you’ve met my daughter.” the voice spoke.

Daughter? That made things so much easier! Now he had to just remember who Nyx’s parent was-

“WAIT! You’re Chaos?!” he exclaims, shocked.

A figure pulls itself out of the void, inky black but starry liquid dripping off it before it’s actual form is revealed.

It completely towered over him, many many eyes peering at him as multiple hands shove off any leftover liquid.

“Hiding in there is such a hassle, but it makes for ominous introductions, and that is quite fun if i do say so myself.” The figure, Chaos, chuckled to itself, offering down a hand and motioning for the young boy to hop onto it.

Danny took a cautious step, almost toppling over when he was suddenly lifted up to it’s eye level.

“Now then, young one, how about we get to know each other better?”
