Chapter Text
Jungwon had the perfect life. He had straight A’s, was student body president, and had a pretty good friend group. They were a little bit chaotic and tried to convince Jungwon to use, and he quotes, “your silly little goody two shoes pass” to get the group out of trouble. (read: Niki, our chaotic child asked.) Everything was going as well as it could for a high school junior with an overload of work and assignments.
It was all well until he showed up. The tall blonde had walked into the calculus class thirty minutes late, uniform haphazardly put on, and glasses just about ready to fall from the bridge of his nose. Everything was great until the mess that is Park Jongseong arrived to Be-lift High.
As president, Jungwon was in charge of giving the new student a tour before classes began but as we can see, one of our main characters struggles to be on time so Jungwon was left waiting for the slightly older boy for about forty minutes. Needless to say, Jungwon was not impressed by the unkempt look and manners it seems of the new students.
He had no idea how quickly his opinion of Jongseong would change until thirty seconds later when the new student finally introduced himself as, “Jay, Jay from Seattle, or just Jay. Anything works,” followed by a semi-smile-smirk thing.
Jungwon was repulsed. (read: intrigued) His disappointment by the new student was so big that he didn’t offer him the customary smile as the older took his place next to him, giving him a small wave.
Jungwon turned away from Jay until he felt a tap on his shoulder.
“Hey, I’m Jay. What’s your name?” The older introduced himself once more.
Jungwon looked at the other before deciding to answer back, “Jungwon. Class president-”
“Oh shoot, dude, I am so so so sorry for not showing up on time for the tour this morning. My mom had forgotten to tell me where she put my cat’s food the night before and my brother needed some help with his music homework and then my dad forgot to breathe-”
“Jay, you can stop now,” started Jungwon with a little laugh, “I understand. Life happens. Sorry for sort of glaring at you before when you came in. I was still mad about the lateness ahaha, you know, president things.” Jungwon finished his little apology, hand sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck.
“It’s okay! We can start over again and become friends!” said Jay, putting his hand out for Jungwon to shake.
Jungwon offered the older a small smile, shaking his hand.
And the rest is history. Jungwon and Jay quickly became attached to the hip. Wherever one was, the other followed. They became a two in one deal. Oh yeah, and the skinship too. God, who could forget the touchiness and PDA that those two obliviously displayed in front of their friends.
Things changed when they, as in the friend group, were having a little sleepover at Jungwon’s.
Jake and Sunghoon were in charge of mixing the drinks and making sure that everyone got drunk by the end of the night(with consent of course, be responsible, kids!) Jungwon and Jay were sitting on the floor, before the end of Jungwon’s bed. The whole night, Jay had been giving Jungwon some subtle stares and enticing him with his smirks.
Jungwon was leaning his head against Jay’s shoulder, eyes already dropping and slowly closing. He lost consciousness, drifting away into a dreamless sleep.
Jay looked down at the younger boy, lips slowly forming into a smile after hearing the little snores coming from Jungwon. Jay liked Jungwon. Everyone knew that except for Jungwon, himself and it wasn’t because of Jay’s lack of trying. On the contrary, Jay tried making it clear that he was interested in Jungwon but the other was either oblivious or didn’t reciprocate his feelings. Jay prayed it was the former.
As he watched Jungwon’s eyes slowly open, he reached out and brushed the back of the younger’s fluffy locks back, watching his chest rise and fall to the rhythm of a mistki song playing in the background.
“Hey bunny, are you awake? Did you have a good nap?” asked Jay.
Jungwon hummed back offering Jay a little, “Yes, hyung. You’re a very comfortable pillow.” Jay chuckled at that, hoping that ‘pillow’ wouldn’t become one of his endless nicknames.
“Come on, get up. The others have already left so you should go to bed.” Jay helped Jungwon stand up, holding his waist in an effort to steady him. The two stared at each other. Jay’s eyes glanced down at Jungwon’s lips, noticing just how rosy they had gotten. His cheeks were flushed and eyes wide by the sudden close proximity. Jay takes a sip, Jungwon bit his lip.
“Jay-”
“Wonnie-”
Without giving it much thought, both boys leaned in until their lips finally touched. At first, it was kind of awkward and their noses kept bumping into each other but they quickly figured out a steady rhythm. Jungwon placed his hands on Jay’s chest before moving them to touch the back of his neck where they found a place to rest. Meanwhile, Jay’s hands had tightened around Jungwon’s tiny waist, bringing the younger closer to him. Jay daringly licked Jungwon’s bottom lip, prompting the other to open his mouth.
“Jay-” gasped Jungwon, “We need to stop-”
Jay quickly detached himself from the younger, immediately blaming himself for making the younger uncomfortable. God, he thought, of course, I made him feel weird. Shit.
Jungwon looked away from Jay and saw a face in his window.
No, no, no, thought Jungwon.
“Mom-”
“Yang Jungwon, get away from that boy right now!”
“Mom-” Jungwon reached out towards his mom, ready to deny anything that she has seen.
In the midst of Jungwon’s inner breakdown, he forgot all about Jay who was still standing frozen and staring at the mom and son duo.
“Jay-”
“I-I-I have to go, bye Jungwon. This was a mistake.”
Jungwon’s head dropped down. Of course, Jay doesn’t like Jungwon. Heck, he is probably straight and was only experimenting with Jungwon and he quickly realized that he isn’t remotely queer and hates Junngwon now-
“Jungwon. We talked about this before.”
“I know, mom. No closed doors in the house when nobody is home.”
“Good, now tell me what’s wrong.”
Jungwon took a moment to recollect his thoughts, after taking a deep breath, he said, “I like him. I like Jay. But he clearly doesn’t.”
“Oh Wonnie, baby. It’s okay but from what I know people who don’t like each other don’t go around randomly kissing other people. Are you sure this Jay boy doesn’t like you?” his mom tried consoling him.
Jungwon cracked a pained smile at his mom, “It’s okay, mom. It’s for the best. I can’t have people knowing I’m...like this. It would ruin me.”
Jungwon’s mom sighed before closing the door, giving Jungwon some privacy and time to think by himself.
The next day, Jungwon and Jay sat far away from each other in class and during their lunchtime. Their friend group had assumed that the two got into an argument so they als gave them some space.
Jay couldn’t take the awkwardness that had consumed the group, especially him and Jungwon so he did something stupid. He slammed his hands on the table before getting up and walking towards Jungwon, taking him by the hand.
Jungwon protested as he got dragged to one of the janitor closets that lined the halls of the school. Jay pushed Jungwon inside, pinning him against the wall.
“You need to stop.”
Jungwon threw him a nonchalant look in his direction before turning his head the other way. “Need to stop doing what?”
“You know what,” said Jay, pushing Jungwon and himself closer to the wall, “Ignoring me. You have been running away from me the whole day. Practically booking it every time you catch a glance at me.”
“No, I have not. You’re imagining things.”
“Jungwon, I swear to God. Stop acting stupid. Is this because of the kiss last night-”
“What kiss? I don’t remember a kiss.”
Jay let out an exasperated sigh, hands reaching out to brush his hair back, “Do you need me to remind you?”
“Jay what-” Jungwon was interrupted by a soft pressure on his lips, Without much thought, Jungwon began moving his lips against Jay’s, hand reaching up to tug at the blond locks that adorned the older boy’s head. One of his tugs was a bit hard and pulled a low moan out of the older boy. That was all Jungwon needed to separate himself from Jay.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck. Jay, we can’t keep doing this. We can’t-”
“Why? I like you, you like me, what’s so wrong-”
“You like me?!”
“Uh, I don’t go around kissing random people, Wonnie.”
“Well fuck me in the ass, I guess. I thought-”
“You thought?”
“Don’t interrupt me. Anyways, as I was saying. I thought you were straight,” Jay choked at that before saying, “You thought I was straight? In what world? I am offended. I am proud bisexual.”
“Listen, you were flirting with every girl that came your way sooo…”
“Wonnie, did you never see me give my number to like four different guys? Did you not see me hold your hand and let you sit on my lap for the past few months?”
“...I thought you were just being nice.”
“Jungwon!”
Jungwon looked down, trying to hide his red cheeks and ears. Jay grabbed his chin, gently prompting him to look up.
“Wonnie, I have liked you since the first day I saw you.” Jungwon gasped at that, not expecting to hear the older boy confess his feelings again.
“....I’ve liked you too. But I’ve been denying it to myself and others. Before you came, I was president-perfect. I had straight hair, straight A’s, and was straightforward. Then you came and all of that went out the window. I didn’t blackout at parties or think much about relationships but then you came. You ruined everything.”
“Oh,” Jay began moving away from the younger boy, letting his hands fall down to his sides, “Guess I should go, haha.”
A hand stopped him from opening the door, followed by a shout.
“Wait no! I’m not finished. You ruined everything but you also made me the happiest that I have ever been. I was so focused on school that I didn’t take time to fall for other people, heck I wasn’t interested in other people until you came...You made me happy. No. You make me happy. You made my heart flutter which I didn’t like. I was scared. God, Jay, I was so scared of you. Of what you made me feel. You had me smiling down at my phone whenever you texted. It was too much. But also not enough.”
“Jay, do you want to be my boyfriend?”
