Chapter Text
The bell ringing in your chambers shook you awake, and you hopped out of your bed.
That bell meant one thing: the lady of the house wished to speak with you.
You were eternally grateful to Mother Miranda for taking you in after you were outcaste from the village. After all, if you had not been saved, you would have been burned for your gift.
However, part of you wished that you didn’t have to be on hand foot for Alcina and her daughters in exchange for your safety. You delivered fresh prey to them, but if they could not get any in time...they would feast on you instead. They would make small cuts on your body and take little by little, making sure that you stayed alive but leaving you with countless bandages all over yourself.
The door to Lady Dimitrescu's quarters was quite large, and your hand looked miniature as you gave it a loud knock.
“Come in, child.”
Alcina’s voice purred from beyond the door and you stepped in, bowing at her wake.
“You wished to speak to me, my lady?” You questioned as you watched her swipe on her burgundy lipstick.
She gave the mirror a quick wink before strutting over to you.
“Go grab us something to snack on and deliver these letters. Mother Miranda would like to have a meeting with us and the rest of the lords. Be quick, for I am quite peckish, and I do not wish to add on to the cuts that are already open on your frail little body.” She explained, handing you three worn letters and waving you away.
You took the letters, watching her white dress sway as you muttered a low ‘yes, my lady’.
The winter's day was cold outside of Castle Dimitrescu. You were wearing long sleeves to cover up your cuts, but the frosty wind still bit you through your clothes.
A black veil shrouded your face as you briskly walked along the cobblestone trails of the village. Since you were outcast, Mother Miranda gave you a veil to wear when you traveled into the village, so you could come in and out of the castle without being recognized. It made you feel a little weird, but at least you weren’t at risk of being hurt.
You pulled out a small list of all of the families in the village with their locations. The ladies of Castle Dimitrescu had a preference for male blood, so you picked out a family with a strong, eldest son for their treat.
You knocked on the tin door of their house, the sound of shuffling loud against your ears.
A tall, red haired boy answered the door, a worried look on his face.
“Are you the eldest son of this household?”
The boy nodded.
“Mother Miranda asks for your services. You shall head to Castle Dimitrescu at once, and for your cooperation, your family will receive blessings from Mother Miranda for their safety.” You stated, hating the fact that you had to trick this poor family.
“No, not Jack. He is the only one who can provide for us. Is there anyone else that you can send?” The door opened to an older woman with the same red hair as the boy.
Your heart broke at the sound of her jagged voice. You wish that you could, but it was either him or you.
“Mother Miranda requested him specifically. No other will do. She will provide whatever you need while he is gone.”
“I will go, Mother. We owe Mother Miranda for everything she’s blessed upon us.”
The boy spoke, earning a somber look from his mother. He stepped out of the doorframe and pushed past you, already heading to the dark castle.
He disappeared into the snowy wind, and in your mind you wished him a good journey into the afterlife.
After getting the feast, you quickly delivered the notes. Donna was silent as she took the letter from you, her veil matching yours. And Moreau was quite the opposite, crying for you to come back to his reservoir.
The last letter was heavy in your hand. The name written hastily shined brightly against the worn envelope.
Heisenberg
You stood in front of his factory, bits of scrap surrounding the doors.
The loud sound of microphone feedback snapped you out of your thoughts.
“Who goes there? If you’re Alcina, kindly screw off.” A smooth voice rang through the speakers hanging by the factory entrance. You had to muffle a small chuckle at his comment.
“Lord Heisenberg? I have a letter from Mother Miranda.”
There was a pause before the factory door shuttered open.
The harsh smell of oil washed over you as you stepped inside. You expected that one of the Lycans or one of his metal creations would come to retrieve the letter, however, this time was different.
Mother Miranda had shown you pictures of the lords when you first arrived, but a picture and the real person were two very different things.
Heisenberg stood in front of you, his beaten green and brown outfit matching with his salt-and-pepper hair underneath his cap. His metal hammer was strapped against his back, and you could see a small glint of his green eyes through his dark glasses.
“I haven’t met you before. Usually one of Alcina’s daughters or Donna comes and delivers letters.” He prompted, his smooth drawl sending a shiver down your spine.
“Mother Miranda brought me in, and I work under Lady Dimitrescu. She sent me to bring you this letter.” You replied, extending your arm with the letter in your hand.
He swiped it out of your hand and you had to keep yourself from jumping at his sudden movement.
Lord Heisenberg lightly scratched his grey stubble before giving you a cocky smile.
“Well, thank you, miss. I hope that I can see you at the meeting, veiled or unveiled.”
His comment brought a blush to your face, unbeknownst to him.
You hoped to see him too.
