Wei Ying had been texting Lan Zhan for a week when it first happened. They had been friends for a while, if you count Wei Ying pestering Lan Zhan at every given opportunity as a friendship, but Lan Zhan hadn't pushed him away yet, so he guessed they were fine.
At least he hoped they were, cause they were roomates and it would be hard to deal with, if Lan Zhan truly disliked him. He was the most interesting person Wei Ying had ever met, as he was a quiet and succinct young man, but also had the most "fuck off" face he'd ever seen in his life. Not even Jiang Cheng at his worst could manage to scare Wei Ying like Lan Zhan in one of his silent moods could. As it was, it became very difficult for Wei Ying Not To Obssess.
Because that's what he did. Although right now, he quite couldn't get his fill of Lan Zhan's attention.
Currently, Lan Zhan was away on a family retreat or something of the sort, Wei Ying couldn't get much out of him besides the fact that he would be away for a month. Cue verbal diarrhea over text.

By then, Wei Ying was beyond verbal diarrhea mode and just typing out whatever thought crossed his mind, but his day had been boring and he missed Lan Zhan, so he felt he could excuse his behavior.

And just like that, everything went downhill. Because Lan Zhan wouldn't let down on the whole "boyfriends" joke. Cause it had to be a joke, Wei Ying was being mercilessly teased as payback for how he wouldn't leave Lan Zhan alone, sure. Now, every morning he got a "Good morning, Wei Ying ❤️" and sometimes even a selfie of Lan Zhan, way too put together at seven in the morning, his beautiful face not quite smiling, but soft nonetheless. He wasn't even asking for those selfies (he wasn't complaining either).
That's not even to mention the nightly texting that Lan Zhan would indulge him with until he started sending things like "We can watch the movie Wei Ying wants when I'm back", which wasn't weird, if not for the following "I heard it's a good idea for a date" and, okay, maybe Wei Ying wouldn't be opposed to that, but it was starting to pull at his heartstrings a bit too strong and if Lan Zhan took that joke just a bit too far, Wei Ying would fall off the precipice.
Lan Zhan was being weirdly affectionate (he was using heart emojis!), freely giving Wei Ying pictures (that went straight to his "Lan Zhan" folder), and planning dates? With Wei Ying?
Not Normal Behavior!
One night, after downright begging from Wei Ying's part, Lan Zhan agreed to a phone call. "Just cause Wei Ying is too cute to refuse", he said, as he picked up the phone on the second ring. Wei Ying almost died on the spot.
"Lan Zhaaan, you can't say those things like that, I'm weak"
"Hm, but Wei Ying is my cute boyfriend"
"Lan Zhan, again? I wanted to hear your voice, but now I'm regretting calling you, you're just being mean!"
"You don't, and I'm not being mean, i just like hearing Wei Ying get flustered"
And that was such not a thing Lan Zhan would say that Wei Ying almost thought he was taking to a doppelganger, if not for the fact that Lan Zhan's voice had dropped a bit into that overindulgent tone he used when Wei Ying was being a baby in the mornings and wouldn't get up.
"W-well, Lan Zhan, then maybe you should just hurry back home so you can see for yourself!"
Aha, take that!
"Hn, Wei Ying is right, can't wait to go home"
It's right to say Wei Ying didn't sleep well that night.

And that looked like a warning, if Wei Ying had ever seen one.
In a blink, the week went by.
And when Lan Zhan came back, Wei Ying wasn't expecting him to keep up the joke. In truth, he was just so happy that the other guy would be home, he just pounced on him the moment he crossed the threshold with his suitcase in hand. Then he felt it as Lan Zhan placed his suitcase on the floor, carefully, and turned to close the door.
With Wei Ying still attached to his neck, Lan Zhan's free arm now resting over his waist.
"Did Wei Ying miss me that bad?" he was a bit taken aback by finally listening to the other's voice, nice and clear.
"Of course! How could i not?"
"I missed Wei Ying also."
"Then you should have just come earlier!"
"Hn, but I'm here now."
Distracted, Wei Ying didn't notice what was happening until his back hit the closed door.
"Lan Zhan??"
Lan Zhan was staring at him, his golden eyes piercing Wei Ying's own gray ones with a look he had never seen before. Not a second later, Lan Zhan's mouth descended on his and it took all of his willpower not to drop dead on the spot.
Lan Zhan was kissing him.
On the lips.
He let a tiny moan slip from his throat as Lan Zhan's lips roamed his own, the soft skin against his slightly dry lips a sensation he never expected to know.
As Lan Zhan's hands now grasped his waist from both sides, Wei Ying let his own slide across the other's muscular chest, feeling his way down, down and groping a tiny bit.
He wasn't that strong, okay?
But Lan Zhan just kept exploring his mouth as if it was a exceptionally good dessert, one of his hands going down to Wei Ying's ass and pulling him closer, their fronts now touching almost entirely. Wei Ying could just wiggle a bit, scratching against Lan Zhan's shirt with his blunt nails as heat spread through his body, much like as if he was on fire.
"Lan Zhan!" he gasped, as they parted for air "What kind of welcome is that?"
"Wei Ying didn't want that?" And oh, the tiny frown that showed in his face as his eyebrows furrowed the slightly bit was just adorable, in contrast to the blissed out glint in his eyes.
"No, of course i wanted! I wanted very much! But i thought you were joking?"
His last sententece coming out more as a question than an affirmative only seemed to confuse Lan Zhan even more.
"I wasn't joking. Does Wei Ying not want to be cute boyfriends?"
And how could he deny that guy anything?
"I do want to, Lan Zhan. I just didn't know you wanted too."
"Hm, i want to."
He said, before attacking Wei Ying's mouth once again, his hand holding onto Wei Ying's ponytail, almost pulling. Wei Ying let out a breathy sigh against his lips.
"Well, that's good. So we're boyfriends, then."
He said, breathless for the second time in less than thirty minutes.
"Hm."
"But you still own me those cakes."
"Whatever Wei Ying wants."
Lan Zhan replied, as his hand cupped Wei Ying's face in a tender caress.
Whatever indeed, he thought.
