Chapter Text
“Do I really need to go with you?” You whined to your childhood friend, Francis.
“Yes.” The blonde replied. “It's not like you have anything else to do. You should be thankful I'm taking you to places.”
“Literally no one asked you to.” You said as you rolled your eyes. “And yes, I do have stuff to do. A pile of homework and a laundry.”
“Your parents did.” He said and you let out a long sigh.
“They're stuck in their farm in another region, I'm pretty sure they won't know it if you let me go home.”
“Can you stop whining for a second? It won't take long, I just want to get my album signed.”
“And you need me because..?”
“There will be a shit ton of screaming fangirls, if you go with me who do you think is gonna pass as the fan?”
“Oh, so I'm your cover, okay.” You brought your eyes up. “Who even are you seeing?”
“My favorite female singer. The screaming fangirls I mentioned aren't her fans by the way, I heard there will be another group there. I don't know if you heard about them.” Francis explained.
“Who are they?” You asked.
“The hybrids... BTS.” He said and your eyebrows raised.
“Never heard that name before. But I think I heard that there's a group with hybrids that got popular recently.” You tried to remember.
“Yeah, can you believe it? They're pets, I don't know who allowed them to become rockstars.” Francis said with disgust.
“We had this debate a bunch of times before, you know my stance on it.”
“You're insane if you really consider hybrids as equals to humans.”
“I'm fucking insane then.” You said. “They can do everything we can so what's the problem?”
“They can't be civilized, they're animals. And animals are meant to receive orders and obey, making us, humans, above them.”
“I'm not gonna talk about this again.” You sighed. “Let's get your goddamn album signed and then I can finally go home.”
“Don't you... wanna come to my place tonight?” Francis asked in a much quieter tone this time.
“Why would I do that?” You replied.
“Geez, I just asked like that. I know you don't have friends.” He said and you squeezed your lips together. You didn't know why you were friends with him to be honest.
Okay, you two had known each other since you were children because both of your parents had farms and lived next to each other but it didn't mean that you had to deal with Francis for the rest of your life. When you were old enough you left your parents' farm to go to the city and continue your studies at the university. Francis almost did the same. Except that he didn't get into uni and instead he got a job at a music shop. Now you were still stuck with him for some odd reason. He wasn't even nice to you, why couldn't he find another girl to annoy?
“So nice.” You replied in sarcasm.
“It's the truth.” He told you. “We made it, it's here.”
“Okay, go. I'll wait for you here.” You said in front of the building.
“Nah, I don't know how long the line might be. I prefer to keep an eye on you inside.” He said and you rolled your eyes.
“Okay, whatever. Let's get it over with.” You gave up again and walked inside. “Oh, there's a small crowd. I expected more people.”
“They're all here for the fucking hybrids. It's the end of the day though so everyone must've left already.” He whispered to you. You looked around you and on the other side you could see a stage with a few people. Probably those rockstars Francis mentioned because all the stares were directed towards them.
“And where's your star?” You asked to Francis.
“Can I see your ticket?” Someone dressed all in black approached you two suddenly.
“I don't have a-”
“Oh, yeah, almost forgot-” Francis said as he shoved his hand in the pocket of his jeans. You sighed deeply as you looked at him. Why did you accept to go with him again? “She just came with me though.” He explained to the staff member as he pointed at you.
“There's a lot of people already so only you are going in the line.” They explained to Francis.
“Yeah, alright. Wait for me here, [Y/N].” The blonde said to you.
“Okay.” You replied. The staff brought him to another area of the building and you stood there, waiting for him to come back. “Maybe I should actually take on his offer and force him to buy me dinner.” You mumbled to yourself with frowned brows.
~
“Thank you! Come back to see us again next time.” The black haired bunny hybrid said with an attractive grin to the girl standing in front of him. When she left the table from where he and his teammates were signing pictures he turned around and erased the smile off his face. “How much longer do I have to stay here?” He asked to a woman of the staff behind him.
“One more hour.” She replied.
“Tsk.” The bunny hybrid clicked his tongue in frustration. But suddenly his expression changed totally and he started sniffing the air. “Wow, what's that??”
“What's what?” The tiger hybrid next to him asked.
“There's no way you don't smell that.” He replied.
“I have no idea what you're talking about. Focus on your job.”
“With this smell in the air? Impossible.” The bunny hybrid licked his lips. “Smells so fucking sweet... It's coming from there. The entrance.” He said as he glanced at the door. Two people had just entered. Two humans. Some guy and a girl. He was taller than her and skinny, with long blond hair that brushed his shoulders. The girl? She was round he noticed first and she was short, wore round glasses too. Was that scent coming from her? He wondered. He kept staring at them. The guy left and the girl was left alone. Why isn't she entering the line? Was she not here to see him?
“Jungkook-” The tiger hybrid next to him called him. “Focus, the next fan is coming.”
“You.” The bunny hybrid turned around to the woman of the staff behind him. “Get this girl here. I want to speak to her.”
“Understood.” She obeyed.
~
While you were waiting for your childhood friend to come back you threw a few glances at the stage and tried to look better at those hybrid rockstars. It wasn't common at all for them to have a job and even rarer to have human fans. Unfortunately like Francis said, a lot of humans considered hybrids inferior to them. You wondered what happened for these- if you counted well, seven hybrids to be where they are right now.
“Huh?” You saw someone from the staff gesture you to come closer. But why? You clearly weren't in the line to see these celebrities so why were they calling for your attention? You pointed to yourself just in case and they nodded. You frowned a bit as you started approaching the staff member. What did they want?? The woman all dressed in black approached you and grabbed your arm. “What is it? What did I do??” You asked her, a bit panicked.
“Aren't you here to see them? Come quickly then, there's other people waiting.” She simply said to you and you got even more confused.
“No, I'm not?? I wasn't in the line-” She ignored you and kept dragging you to the stage. When you reached the table she placed you in front of one of the singers you assumed he was? He was a bunny hybrid though, you could tell because of the long black ears on top of his head. His hair was black and curly, it seemed soft you thought. You glanced at his eyes then. He had big dark eyes and he was staring at you. “I- This must be a mistake.” You said. Jungkook closed his eyes and inhaled deeply. Oh, it was definitely you.
“Why weren't you in the line?” He asked you suddenly and you almost got startled. Were you in trouble? You had a bad feeling.
“I... I hope I'm not offending but I didn't come to the meet and greet.” You replied. You saw his expression change and his eyebrows furrow a little.
“Then what are you doing here?” He asked, his dark colored eyes never leaving you.
“I came with a... friend who came to see someone else.” You replied. “I was waiting for him by the door.” You added.
“Do you know who I am?” You really didn't want to be rude but you didn't want to lie either. You slowly shaked your head. “Heh. Hybrid music isn't good enough for you?” He asked in a mocking tone.
“What? No, it has nothing to do with that.” You cleared out immediately. “I'm sorry, I just don't know you. Um, I should go-”
“I decide when you can leave.” The black haired hybrid bunny said and you just stared at his face. Were you offended? Scared? Or just intrigued? Maybe a bit of all.
“I'm not sure I understand. I'm sorry if I have offended you in any way, it wasn't my attention but shouldn't I give my spot to someone else? I didn't come for you today unlike the other girls behind me.” You tried to explain to him. His stare didn't leave you once and you started feeling uncomfortable. You didn't like the way he was analyzing you with his big doe eyes. You stared at him too though. You noticed a small scar on his cheek and a few moles on his face. He was kind of cute you thought but like all the celebrities out there probably, you weren't impressed.
“What's your name?” He asked and ignored everything you said to him.
“I'm... [Y/N].” You replied anyway.
“[Y/N]...” He repeated out loud. “And what kind of music do you listen to?”
“Depends...” You shrugged. “I like rock.” His lips curved at your answer.
“Alright, [Y/N]. I'm Jungkook.” He said and chuckled lowly. He never thought he would have to introduce himself at his own fansign.
“Okay... Jungkook.” You imitated him and repeated his name. “Can I go now?”
“Your friend isn't back yet. I saw you two when you entered.” You found that very curious. Why did he notice you? You couldn't help noticing that everytime you replied to his questions Jungkook closed his eyes and inhaled the air deeply. Did he have a breathing problem?? “Will you listen to my music now that you know who I am?”
“Um... yeah, why not.” You tried to be polite. “You guys are on Spotify?” You asked and he burst out laughing. It was such a sincere laugh that it startled you. The other members of his group turned their heads towards you two to see who had just made their bunny hybrid laugh like that. “Okay, maybe it was a dumb question. Give me a recommendation then and I'll listen to that.” You told him.
“Give me your phone.” You really wished you could stop listening to all the orders people around you gave you. It would save you a lot of troubles. You opened Spotify and handed Jungkook your phone. “You like rock so let me make you a little playlist with our songs. We do a lot of different genres though.”
“Okay, I'll listen while I do my laundry.” You told him and once again you saw his lips curve.
“Your laundry? You live alone?” That was a pretty personal question but you didn't feel like you'd put yourself in danger by replying so you did.
“Yes.” You confirmed. Jungkook glanced at the backpack you were carrying. You seemed to be his age, maybe a bit older.
“What are you studying?” He asked.
“Education.” He waited for you to go on. “I want to become an elementary teacher.” You added.
“You like kids? You must have a big family.” Once again you frowned a little. Why was this complete stranger asking you all these personal questions? You couldn't help noticing that the girls next to you who stood in front of these artists were talking a long time with them too. Maybe Jungkook was just treating you like one of them and trying to make you feel special like he'd do with any other fan who came to see him. It was surely an act.
“I'm an only child actually.” You decided to answer anyway once again, you didn't know why. You were kind of a submissive person and always doing everything people wanted around you. “But I do like kids, I think they like me too.” Your lips curved slightly. Talking about that reminded you of some of your personal experiences with children and those memories were happy, natually you cheered up.
“I see.” The bunny hybrid had noticed that your friend came back and he had talked with you for a long period so it was time to let you go.
“Here.” He handed you back your phone and when you tried to take it he kept holding it. You lowered your eyes on his hand. He had tattoos. Your fingers touched while he stared into your eyes. “I'll see you again very soon, [Y/N].” Jungkook said and you stared at him in confusion. Where would you even see him again?? Maybe he said that because he expected you to love his music and come to his future meet n greet sessions. You were a bit busy for that. You ignored whatever he said.
“Okay, whatever. Bye.” You told him before leaving the table. That was fucking weird.
“What the fuck were you doing over there??” Francis asked you when you joined him in front of the entrance.
“It's the last time I go with you somewhere, Francis.” You told him as you two left the building.
---
The next days had been kind of bizarre. You got very paranoid, you felt like you were being watched everywhere you went. At uni, in the streets, at the fast food you and Francis ate lunch at, in your own appartment... You got chills, it was very uncomfortable. But you never catched anybody acting weird around you. You never noticed someone watching you.
“Maybe it's just in my head...” You mumbled to yourself. Maybe you had too much work. “Ah!” You got startled when your phone rang suddenly. “What?” You replied to Francis.
“Would it kill you to say hi in a nice tone?” He asked on the other side and you rolled your eyes.
“What do you want from me?” You asked.
“I'm going to Luke's. You should come too.” He said.
“No, thanks. I don't wanna be around while you get high and then I'm the one who has to clean your vomit.”
“That only happened once-” The blonde defended himself.
“And I'm still traumatized.”
“You should be thankful I'm taking you out. Why do you act like such a bitch sometimes?”
“Who the fuck do you think you are to speak to me like this??” You frowned.
“I'm the only fucking friend you have.”
“I never fucking asked you to be my friend! Screw you!” You hung up and threw your phone on the bed. You really hated this piece of shit. Why couldn't he stay at his parents' farm instead of following you to the city? Thanks God you had refused to be roomates with him because at some point that offer was on the table. One of you would've killed the other, you were sure of it. Your phone kept ringing but you ignored it. You were done with Francis for the weekend. It was finally friday night and you needed to rest.
Late, very late at night you heard knocks at your door while you were in bed, ready to sleep. You ignored them, whoever was behind the door could wait for tomorrow and if it was Francis he could go fuck himself. It was midnight, the last thing you needed at the moment was another argument or fight with your childhood friend. The knocks didn't stop though and if he kept banging on your door he was going to wake the whole neighborhood up.
“For fuck's sake!” You angrily removed the blanket off you and stood up to go open the door. After putting on your glasses you pulled on your long sleeved pajama dress to be sure you were covered while you walked to the entrance and then you grabbed your keys to open the door. “Francis, I swear to- Mmm!” Your eyes widened in panic and your whole body went stiff. The moment you opened the door someone had wrapped their arm around your waist to pull you against their body and then you felt a wet tissue being pushed against your face. You tried so hard to fight but it was too late. You felt your strength leave you and your body go limp. Your eyes closed before you could recognize your attacker. The last thing you rememberd was these familiar black clothes you had seen a few days ago.
