001. BONTEN MEN FORGETTING SOMETHING AT HOME AND YOU BRING IT TO THEM AT WORK

Chapter Text

♡ — KAKUCHO HITTO !

He’s politely excusing himself to the rest of the employees, hasty as he makes his way to you. Ever since he got a worried crackle through the intercom that a certain teary-eyed individual has been insisting he knew you and you had every right to be here – in Bonten headquarters of all places – the Bonten Executive was damn near tripping on his feet. People stared at him in craze as he zoomed past through doors, but those were the least of his worries. His main concern is you. And once he sees you, his innocent wife clutching to the file he’d sleepily mumbled about last night that he couldn’t forget to bring to work or else, Kakucho is crushing you into a hug. You remain frozen for a few seconds before your tears dampen his suit.

“I know, baby, I’m so sorry, I was in a rush and forgot about it,” cupping your face in his hands, Kakucho’s heartstrings are tugged from the sight of your pouty lips.

Should he kiss you? Should he announce his lovely wife has finally come to visit? His co-executives might make fun of him. One look at your tear stained face, however, Kakucho thinks fuck it and holds your hand. Smiling reassuringly at you, he leads you up the elevator, ignoring the guards’ confused stares.

“I think it’s time my friends meet you, love. Thanks for coming all the way here. I’ll make it up you tonight.” As soon as the doors close, Kakucho is suddenly tugged down by his tie, smothered in kisses and words of concern that always, always turns him into such a softie.

♡ — HAITANI RAN !

Similar to Kakucho, the tall gang executive breaks out into a sweat. Ordering people to scramble away with his eyes narrowed – effectively scaring people to bow their heads at the usually languid man who looked beyond pissed – Ran is taking the stairs two steps at a time. The elevators are crowded, and he’ll be damned if he’ll keep you waiting for any longer. All it took was one text of baby, why won’t they let me in? :< you forgot your lunchbox at home… for him to lose his composure. He’d been too occupied with today’s agenda that he forgot you woke up early just to prepare him that.

Ran’s breathing grows ragged by the time he makes it into the lobby. And there you are, cute floral patterns present on your apron and gentle hands clutching a purple lunchbox, clearly having run out from home the instant you realize he left it. He sighs to himself, mostly out of guilt, but also mixed with relief. Your husband beside you faster than a blink of an eye, his glare harder than his locked jaw at the guards’ hands on yours. He hasn’t been here long enough to hear everything, but he’d heard enough. While it makes perfect sense an innocent little thing like you looked terribly out of place, Ran’s patience wasn’t having any of it.

Flicking their hands away from your skin, Ran scoffs. “Who told you that you could touch my wife?” he pressed on, raising a brow when the guards stiffen. You, on the other hand, tug on his coat and mumble that it’s not a big deal, he needs to let them go. Ran resists the urge to sigh from the hundredth time that day. “You should be thankful my wife is nice. If she wasn’t here, I’d have crushed your skull. She’s welcome here anytime, you understand?”

Despite your shy protests, Ran doesn’t stop until the guards have that reminder etched in their minds.

♡ — HAITANI RINDOU !

Oh, please, this baby. He’s much more subtle about it – the complete opposite of brother who barges in his office with a smirk, asking why Rindou’s wife is texting him because your husband isn’t picking up his phone. Immediately, Rindou unlocks the device, cursing upon seeing you’ve left him seven missed calls. He’s out his office the next moment, his brother’s confused query after another completely ignored. The only thing sitting heavily on Rindou’s mind is how scared you must be right now – Bonten guards and staff were in the same nature as them, of course. Not that Rindou was ever cruel to you, since he’s always the opposite when he’s at home, but it doesn’t ease him the very least. You’ve always been too soft spoken, all smiles and precious laughter, that his chest tightens uncomfortably at the thought you might see a different part of him you don’t like.

As expected, you’re left on the waiting area, head ducked down to your lap as your hands tremble. Rindou sends an unimpressed glance at the guards with guns pointed your way. “Leave her the fuck alone,” his authoritative voice makes them shiver, their weapons disappearing from your gaze. Rindou wants nothing more than to break their limbs in this moment. These fuckers really dared clump you with the animals that went against Bonten – you, his newly married wife who clutched at his arm to stop him in the streets to pet a puppy; you, his newly married wife whose tongue darted out on another corner to fix his tie before he leaves work. Which is why he’s all but slow and gentle as he makes his way to you, cupping your jaw to soothe your anxious nerves. “Hey, honey, what’re you doing here?”

“Lunch…” you swallow audibly, gulping in fear as you glance up to the guards watching with unmasked interest. Now that Rindou is here, you feel safer, but you still can’t help but inch closer to him until your cheeks are flustered warm in his hand. “You forgot your lunch, Rin, ‘em sorry for barging. I don’t think I’m supposed to be here.”

“Shush,” Rindou kisses your forehead, “You’re always welcome here. Sorry for not picking up your calls later, but don’t come here unannounced next time again, okay? You nearly gave me a heart attack.”

“Sorry, Rin…”

“Don’t be. I was only worried, that’s all,” sharing a private , soft smile that he reserves only for your adoring eyes, Bonten Executive Rindou reverts back into the mellow – if not shy – husband you knew so well. “I was so scared something happened to you. ‘Wouldn’t know what I’d have done without you, so don’t scare me again, okay? If you want to visit me here, I’ll pick you up myself next time.”

♡ — KOKONOI HAJIME !

The sharp eyed man is not having any of it. After hearing that the Bonten guards have taken someone into the interrogation room – the exact room Sanzu went insane in – and realizing that someone was no one else but his lovely wife, Kokonoi summons all the restraint in his body to stop himself from losing his shit. He’s mostly calm, if not teasing to lighten up the mood, but now a dark cloud hovers over his figure. Thankfully, Sanzu backed off upon recognizing you’re Kokonoi’s cherished wife. Sure, Koko only met you through an arranged marriage meant for securing Bonten’s ties with your equally powerful family, but he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t falling deeper for you each day.

You’re so sweet, so caring even after hearing the atrocious things he’s done. Koko has never had instincts to protect someone that wasn’t Akane until he met you. So he barges into the room, secretly relieved that Sanzu had blindfolded you so you don’t see the mess splattered all over the walls, or the bodies discarded onto one side. The said man quickly leaves the room to give you both privacy, to which Koko nods appreciatively for.

“Sweetheart,” Koko coos, taking your hands in his. You react on reflex; shoulders relaxing and lips quivering once you hear his voice. “What’re you doing here? I told you it’s unsafe.”

“You left your phone at home and you always carry it around with you. I was worried so-”

Koko cuts you off by freeing you from the cable ties, anger stirring within him when he sees the faintest lines digging in. He’s kept you so flawless and unmarked because Koko wants nothing more than to see you safe, unharmed, yet his guards managed to leave such offensive marks on you. “I would’ve fetched it myself, sweetheart,” the affectionate nickname leaves his lips too naturally, causing your heart to flutter in the most un-romantic of times. “You didn’t have to.”

♡ — HARUCHIYO SANZU !

Bonten’s Number Two was away for a mission when Mikey rings him, grumbling about how his wife was now in his office, asking for her ‘dear husband who left his files.’ Sanzu slams on the gas pedal as he swerves around, uncaring of street lights or his mission. Akashi could take care of him while he’s away – Sanzu needed to get to you first.

He’s speeding down through the streets, the delicious rumbling of his sports car like music to his ears. It hasn’t been long since Sanzu married you, and while his knowledge of you is limited to the fact you liked to dote on him, you loved kissing his scars and you always smiled dopily at him through good morning kisses, he’s smitten enough to rage on the road. It takes all of his patience to not whip out his gun the next moment. He tries to calm himself down with the reminder you’re top priority, and Sanzu doesn’t stop running until he reaches Mikey’s office, the latter nibbling on snacks again while you sit next to his boss, looking like a fish out of water.

Sanzu leans against the wall dramatically. “Oh, thank fuck you’re alive.”

“Language, Haru,” you scold with a pout, which makes Mikey stop eating in surprise. The shorter man darts an eye between the both of you, watching as his right-hand man raise his hands in surrender with a goofy smile on his face. Beside him, you hand Sanzu his files. “You left this at home.”

“You’re crying.” He’s not asking. The fat tears stream down your face, and Sanzu’s maniacal grin drops. “Don’t hide it from me. Who hurt you?”

“N-no one. Just got scared…they wouldn’t have let me in if it wasn’t for Mikey. The guards said I’m probably a spy-” Sanzu rolls his eyes. He’ll make sure to leave them a painful reminder once you’ve gotten home safely, but for now, he needs to comfort you. How he’ll do that, he has no idea, so he crushes you in a hug instead and pats your head awkwardly.

“Don’t cry now. I’ve got you – you’re safe here with me.”

From under his bangs, Sanzu’s sure Mikey is hiding a smile.
