My Life With You

Summary:

After Jimin accidentally waterboards a dining customer at the restaurant where he works, his life changes forever in the best way possible. Jimin and Yoongi forge a friendship that blooms into love whilst facing the challenge of an eating disorder that threatens to tear apart Jimin's life.

Excerpt:
He turned to Yoongi, staring for a long moment. "Thank you, so very much," he said softly, the other just shrugging yet again.

"No problem. I'm going to head out but… I'll be back this time on Friday—”

"I work tomorrow." Jimin said quietly as the other stood, matching him in height. He smelled like an omega, but he was broad like an alpha. Which was fitting since Jimin was an alpha but held an omega's build.

Yoongi chuckled. "I'll see you tomorrow then," he said fondly, slipping past as his colleagues cat whistled and he flipped them off over his shoulder.

Jimin watched the other leave, having no idea he had just had the first conversation with his future mate and mother of his pups.

Chapter One: How We Met

Jimin sighed as he grabbed the plates from the table an elderly couple had been at earlier. He was one of the few alpha waiters that were employed at the restaurant. Most of the servers and waiters were omegas, generally female ones, but everyone needs to make a diversity quota, right? Jimin should count himself lucky they chose him and not another alpha to fill this position. Even if it was a crappy job.

He hated his job, just… hated it. But he needed to do something to pay for his schooling, right? He was hoping to make it big as a choreographer and was in some pretty intense dance classes that left him sore and achy. His footing was always lethargic and clumsy after class, his calves and back screaming as he bussed tables and took orders. But he pushed on regardless, knowing it would all be worth it in the end. At least he seriously hoped it would be.

Currently his biggest struggle was the fact that he knew he was overworking his body. He spent hours upon hours dancing and then his shifts on his feet as a waiter. He didn’t get much time to actually sit down. If he wasn’t careful, he was going to end up collapsing again. He had been working hard at staying healthy, eating right, and resting as much as he could to avoid another hospital trip. He really didn’t want to end up back there. All the disapproving looks the nurses gave, the chiding he received from the doctors who knew him by name now… knowing his name didn’t make him feel any better. If anything, it made him feel far worse. But Dancing was his dream, and he was determined to make it in that career. And you had to look the part if you wanted to make it big.

And a waiter job was respectable. It was better than nothing by a long shot. At least he kept reminding himself of that. Even though the girls pulled in more tips because they were giggly and sweet and pretty and a large number of customers that came here were male alphas in business meetings. It was still better than nothing. He reminded himself of that again and again, even though he was paid below minimum wage, and they got away with it because he knew if he complained they’d find a reason to fire his ass and then he’d be screwed. Like today. He'd had to take three dishes back today because something was wrong and somehow it was his fault the chef made a mistake.

It was okay.

Because all of this would eventually pay for his way through college, and he could get a job doing what he loved. He just had to keep trying. Just keep going. He could do this!

He grabbed the tray of drinks once he gave the dishes to the dishwasher, heading toward the next table he had just started at not long before. The table had five businessmen, all in suits, chatting away whilst seated there in the booth. A couple of them looked young enough to be his age and he wondered if they were interns or something. It must be nice to already have career paths set out like that. Jimin was pretty sure he’d never get a job that was overly high paying, but he’d be comfortable. They looked lavish, like they could all be driving Porches and dining at far better restaurants than this place. "Hello, here are your drinks—”

A horrible thing happened in that split second that seemed to last an eternity, and yet no time at all.

Someone bumped into him as he was shifting the tray. It wasn't a small little bump either. No this was enough to jostle his whole being. The shoulder to his back hit hard enough a slight grunt left his throat as his body lurched from the movement.

He watched in slow motion, yet too fast to react, as the tray tilted, the cups all sliding. He saw a young man with longer dark hair and widening eyes start to raise his hand to try and stop the tray, clear panic shining in those dark pools…

But it was too late.

Jimin half shrieked as he dumped the two waters, sprite, coke and apple juice all onto the table and, more importantly, onto the young man sitting at the end. It was silent for a long second, the sound of cups landing on the table resonating in the area. The event drew the attention of nearly everyone present.

Jimin knew he was going to be fired.

"Oh my god! Oh my god I'm so sorry, Sir! I'm so sorry!" He put the tray down, his eyes watering as he took off his apron, trying to mop up some of the mess in a panicked haste. He couldn’t lose this job! He had payments that needed to be made! Rent that had to be paid! He needed this!

There was a bit of a stressed chuckle, the others quiet as Jimin nearly sobbed. "Yah, hand me your napkins." The young man called to his friends, a flurry of paper napkins being literally thrown at him after. He snorted at them, shaking his head before he helped Jimin clean up, giving an amused smile, soda pop in his hair. "So, do you waterboard all your customers, or am I just lucky?" He smirked, giving a little wink.

Jimin felt his heart skip a beat as he looked at the smiling man… He wasn't angry? "Just you so far,” he rasped out. He wished he could blame it on his being new there, but he’d been working at that establishment for nearly a year. He should have been able to catch that tray. He could see his boss approaching, looking furious and knew he'd be fired. Goodbye to dance school. He’d have to go back home, hat in hand. His parents were going to be furious with him. He slumped, gathering the cups, thankful that they used fancy looking plastic ones, so none had broken. "I'm so sorry, Sir. I'll find you a new waiter—”

“—Nonsense. Accidents happen." The man shrugged, the boss slowing to a stop.

"I see we've had a bit of an accident! We sincerely apologize on behalf of Jimin's clumsiness,” he said with an apologetic smile that was oh so very tense.

Jimin flinched, his head bowing and his eyes watering. He would have been fine if he wasn’t bumped like that. Although he supposed he should have somehow had the reflexes of his half cat breed and been able to catch the tray or something. Guess his canine genetics won out this time.

"It was hardly his fault. One of the waiters passing practically hip checked him," one of the other guys spoke up. He was rather broad and strong and had a dimple on both his cheeks. Said cheeks were a little on the chubby side, much like Jimin’s tended to be. But he was smiling so brightly. He was the other young man at the table. Jimin felt a spark of hope in his chest. The man was standing up for him? Really?

"It's really not a big deal." The one whose hair was literally dripping shrugged. "I've had worse."

"Remember the time Sooyoung dumped her margarita on you because she asked if she looked fat in something, and you said yes." The one across from him snickered. His hair was greying just slightly, his eyes small but full of joy. The wet businessman just shrugged.

"Lying was never one of my strong points.” His shoulders bobbed nonchalantly yet again, turning to the distressed and embarrassed waiter. “Jimin, right?" He looked over, the other giving a small nod. "I'm Yoongi." He smiled, eyes crinkling and gums showing. "It's nice to meet you. Although I must admit, I will probably leave early so I can shower and change." He shrugged. "But I'll come back some time. Do you normally work Fridays?” he asked.

Jimin's boss sputtered. "Honestly, we would normally fire someone—”

"Yah, for an accident?" The man named Yoongi scowled, shaking his head. "It was hardly his fault. I say give him another chance. What do you think, Namjoon?" He turned to the young man that defended Jimin before, the man with the dimples.

"Oh absolutely, right guys?" There were little cheers, a couple of other tables giggling and raising glasses in Jimin's defense.

Jimin looked at the man, his heart swelling in his chest.

Did Yoongi realize he just saved his job and his schooling? Or would he have just done that kind of thing for anyone? Was he just a kindhearted soul? Probably. Jimin was lucky he dumped his tray on someone so understanding and not one of those strong headed, stern, tough guy alphas.

"All right, I'll give him one more chance. You're on probation, Park." His boss warned with a little smile, clearly not wanting to give Jimin another chance.

Jimin bowed, thanking him in shock. He turned to Yoongi, staring for a long moment. "Thank you, so very much,” he said softly, the other just shrugging yet again.

"No problem. I'm going to head out but… I'll be back this time on Friday—”

"I work tomorrow,” Jimin said quietly as the other stood, matching him in height. He smelled like an omega, but he was broad like an alpha. Which was fitting since Jimin was an alpha but held an omega's build.

Yoongi chuckled. "I'll see you tomorrow then,” he said fondly, slipping past as his colleagues cat whistled and he flipped them off over his shoulder.

Notes:

Hello everyone! Heads up, the next few chapters for a few weeks will still be up, but they won’t actually be readable. Sorry about that. Each week I’ll upload the next chapter, so keep an eye out for the email updates or check in on Fridays between 7-10pm (GMT-4)! I’m really excited to see who decides to give this sweet, yet emotional story a shot!

I love the dynamic of Yoonmin in this story. I hope you end up enjoying it, too!

Next chapter Jimin rushes to his dorm where he lives with his best friend and fellow alpha, Taehyung. Taehyung is amused with Jimin. We have Yoonmin’s second encounter. It’s a cute kinda sorta coffee date during Jimin’s break.

Again, I look forward to seeing who all joins! I’ll have the photo of the layout of the dorm room in the next chapter, too! See you next week!

Unrelated, but the story I’m posting after this is my favourite story as of today (June 12 2026) that I’ve written so I’m super excited about it. It’s also my most recent story. It’s a really sweet story. It is also Yoonmin lol widowed Alpha father Yoongi (has an autistic 3 year old son), and Omega Jimin (He’s the nanny).
