Chapter 1: Nervous beginnings

Chapter Text

Roll Cake hopped up onto his boyfriend’s motorcycle, seating himself behind the biker and wrapping his arms securely around the other’s waist. Kiwi had chimed the idea of a little joy ride seeing that the two were currently not doing much of anything currently in their shared apartment. Roll didn’t see any reason not to, if he had to be honest, staying idle too long probably would’ve driven him insane. He always did like to busy himself with something while the biker was a bit more laid back.

Their relationship was rather new, the two starting off merely coexisting as good friends who simply started to grow closer over the next couple of months. Kiwi was the one who broke the ice, the blonde never really mustering up the courage to say anything in fear of destroying what they had. Roll Cake was greatly relieved and pleased to see that Kiwi shared the same feelings as he did. They’ve only been officially dating for about two weeks, and so far, things don’t really feel different. At least, to the demolitionist, he didn’t know what Kiwi really felt about their budding relationship.

Roll chose to stop dwelling on those thoughts, distracting himself with the sight of buildings and scenery blurring past the visor of the helmet he wore as Kiwi drove. The sky had a warm orange and red glow as the sun was beginning to set, it was a nice little distraction as the couple sped down the road.

Over time, the scenery changed from buildings and houses to just trees and hills, Kiwi eventually stopping the bike at a nice little clearing. He parked and the two made their way to go take in the view of the sunset. It was nice and silent, no other cars seeming to pass by as it grew later in the evening, it was nice to get away from the city occasionally.

Kiwi took hold of Roll Cake’s hand, giving it a gentle squeeze and he led the way, taking his boyfriend over to one of the trees so they could have a seat underneath. The blond could feel his heart fluttering in his chest from the simple gesture, sitting down besides the biker and leaning a bit so their shoulders touched. The two enjoyed each other’s company in a comfortable silence, watching as the Sun began to dip behind the trees in the distance.

“It’s pretty nice, don’t you think?” Kiwi said, breaking the silence between the two. It caught Roll off guard for a moment, having spaced out for a moment.

“Yeah…It really is.” He replies, sighing contently. His thoughts began to wander again, negative thoughts of just how he’d end up ruining their relationship before it even started. Roll’s discomfort must’ve been obvious because next thing he knew, Kiwi had pulled him in close to embrace him from the side.

“Hey… you okay?” The biker asks in a concerned tone.

“Sorry, y-yeah I’m okay…” Roll Cake reassured, looking up at Kiwi and giving him a small smile before breaking eye contact. “I’m just… just still pretty nervous about all this.” He added as he stared down at the grass beneath them, “Guess I just don’t want to mess things up, ya know? I don’t really have a lot of experience with dating.” He said with a nervous laugh.

“I mean, I don’t really either.” Kiwi responded, bringing a hand to Roll’s chin to guide him to look back up at him. “In all honesty, I’m pretty nervous too, but I know I care a lot about you, and I want to make you happy.” The biker added with a warm smile, the hand at Roll’s chin moving to caress his cheek softly. The blond immediately melted into the touch, leaning into his boyfriend’s palm and smiling back at him.

“I want to make you happy too,” Roll says in confidence, blinking as he realized how close their faces had gotten. He gave quickly glanced at Kiwi’s lips then back to his face, seeming to wordlessly ask for a kiss. The biker couldn’t help but chuckle, closing the gap between and kissing him softly. Roll let his eyes slide shut, his tensions seeming to melt away and he was at ease once again.

They eventually broke the kiss, a couple of minutes feeling like hours had gone by. The Sun had fully disappeared behind the trees, the sky slowly beginning to grow dark. “Guess that’s our cue to start heading home.” Kiwi chuckled, giving Roll a quick peck on his cheek.

“Looks like it.” The blond replies with a bright smile.

The two made their way back to the motorcycle, riding in silence as they made their way back to the city. Roll’s hold on Kiwi seeming just a bit tighter on the ride home.
