Chapter Text
It was supposed to be an easy week.
The Winchester family was going to take a well-needed vacation and Castiel had opted to stay behind and watch the bunker.
What he hadn’t foreseen was Crowley choosing that week to pop in for a visit and quickly getting roped in to helping Cas watch the house ‘so he wouldn’t get lonely.’ Cas had tried to argue, but the boys simply exchanged a look and went on their way.
That was what led him to this situation, sitting across from Crowley and eyeing him warily. They stared at eachother for a minute before Cas finally broke the silence, frustrated.
“I think the best course of action would be to stay out each other’s way. You don’t bother me, and I won’t bother you. Are you amenable?”
Crowley smiled wickedly. “Sure thing, Feathers.”
That worked out for all of an hour before Castiel received a call from Sam.
“Hey, bud. Hate to bother you like this, but it looks like there’s a witch in the area. Nothing confirmed, but there’s been some suspicious activity. Would you be willing to check it out?”
When Castiel didn’t immediately answer, he heard Dean begin to grumble.
“Goddamnit, Sammy! Don’t bother Cas with this, we’ll just turn around-“
That startled Cas into responding. “No, no! That won’t be necessary. You should enjoy your vacation. You’ve more than earned it.”
For a moment, there was tense silence before Cas heard a defeated sigh. Castiel could almost hear Dean rubbing his hand over his face in worry. It was Sam who spoke.
“…Fine. But take Crowley with you. We’re curious to see how he’ll behave after his apparent attitude adjustment.”
He hung up before Cas could argue. He hung his head in defeat for a minute, wallowing in self pity. When he looked up, Crowley was in the doorway, grinning.
“Girl’s night out, then?”
