Summary:

Freddy and Captain K's last night before the battle.

Notes:

Hiya!
This work has been sitting in my folders since 2019, and for the life of me, I could not find a way to finish it! But this winter break from school, I think I'm gettin' my groove back!

Anyway, enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“What do you think?”

Freddy glanced up from the feathered helmet he was toying with – and did a double take.

Captain K - eyeliner thick on his eyelid.

He scrambled from his perch at the windowsill and sat on the dresser by the other. Klenzendorf looked amused at his excitement and let the younger tug him close until he stood between his legs.

And before he knew it, a bit of red lipstick was dabbed onto his lips.

He resisted with a frown. “No, hey, no, that’s too much-”

The perfect blond sent him a glare. “It’s just a bit. You can’t even tell. Hold still.”

“No-” He tried to pull away but Freddy locked his legs quickly, preventing any escape. He pursed his lips and gave a terse sigh. “Alright, but not too much-”

“But don’t you want to blind the enemy with your beauty?” Finkel winked a little too cheekily for K’s liking.

“Captain K is not beautiful, Finkel. He is dashing ,” he corrected with a smirk.

Freddy gave a hum as if to say ‘alright, if you say so’. He smudged another small layer of red onto his captain’s lips before dotting his cheeks. He smiled sweetly at the warning glare he received. “It’s just a bit of blush. You can’t tell, I promise.”

“Hm, yah,” Klenzendorf snorted. He watched Freddy’s concentration – the way his mouth moved, the way his teeth gently bit his tongue, the steady gaze of his blues, the stray blond curl that fell in front of his forehead. But then he saw Freddy reach for a small paintbrush. “What now-” was all he barely had time to get out before the brush headed straight for his eyes. He shut them and felt the brush decorate his lids. He harrumphed.

“Are you done?” he asked after a fair amount of brushing.

“Shush.” Freddy’s insides warmed with giddiness when Captain K’s mouth curved at his response. He made a few last touches then sat back with a sigh – unlocking his legs from his captain. “There.”

K opened his eyes and took in the look of adoration on Freddy’s face – the look of pure love in his perfect blue eyes. He refused to control the possessive feeling that suddenly rose within him. He wasted no time in kissing that soft sweet smile on his lips.

Freddy started with a gasp and playfully pushed at Klenzendorf’s shoulders. “Stop, you’ll ruin it.” But he was silenced again and again-

Then Captain K enjoyed watching Freddy’s lips chase after him when he suddenly pulled away. “Your turn.”

Freddy’s eyes slightly widened and his flushed face darkened a shade. “ My turn?” His voice was alarmingly quiet.

The captain winked and held up the black eyeliner, smirking.

Freddy blushed darkly and quickly shook his head. “K…”

He leaned forward, bracing his arms on either side of his lover. “Come on, Freddy. A captain needs his second to go to battle with him.” He raised a convincing eyebrow. He dragged the brush over the eyeliner cake. He met Freddy’s soft expression and matched his voice to his emotion, “Freddy, will you be my second?”

His lovely boy’s eyes lit up. “Yes.”

He grinned and held up the brush, watching Freddy close his eyes. “And I promise you will look as beautiful as your captain.”

“I thought you said you were dashing and not beautiful,” Freddy mused. He relished in feeling K’s warm breath so close to his skin. If he just listened a little harder, he was sure he could hear his beating heart.

After a long while of entrusting his good looks to his captain, K declared he was finished.

Freddy opened his eyes and saw his reflection-

Rosy cheeks, thin eyeliner but tons of eyeshadow, full red lips, a beauty mark…

He met K’s gaze. “I look…”

“Beautiful,” K smiled. He put the mirror aside and braced his arms on either side of Freddy again. “Stunning,” he continued, his voice dropping an octave. He ducked his head and his lips caressed Freddy’s cheek, pressing soft kisses from his eye to his neck. “Perfect.”

Freddy’s eyes slid shut again as K’s lips found his own. He wrapped his arms around K’s neck, wanting to hold his captain close, wanting to feel their bodies together… and wanting quite literally to never let go.

Because he knew what tomorrow would bring, and he realized how much he would willingly give if time could stand still this very moment…

K gave a grunt and lifted him from the dresser. Freddy obliged, hooked his legs around K’s torso, and let K gently set him on the bed. And his captain knelt before him.

Their eyes met and unspoken emotions sat between them - this would be their last night, and there was no doubt that they would die tomorrow.

K kissed him with warm and soft lips, and Freddy smiled softly against those lips. He swiped his thumb across K’s blushed cheek. “I suppose I did put a lot.”

He chuckled. “I think I will wear only eyeliner and eyeshadow but eh, I’ll consider the blush. You can have the lipstick and rouge-” His fingers gently traced the curve of Freddy’s jaw. “-for that beautiful face of yours.”

Freddy laughed lightly. He affectionately carded his fingers through his captain’s hair, then his hands framed K’s face, hovering just above his skin as if part of him were afraid the end had already happened… and K wasn’t really there. His thumb brushed K’s bottom lip, and Freddy carefully kissed him.

K’s lips were as soft as ever and his mouth was pliant, letting Freddy set the pace, letting him explore what they shared every chance they got. Their love was still for just a moment…

Then Freddy pulled back a bit and met Klenzendorf’s lidded gaze. It was a look that unfurled warmth within the pit of his stomach. He peeled off K’s uniform jacket, let it fall to the floor, and ran his fingers over K’s warm skin.

“Freddy,” he strained like he was on the verge of not getting enough.

He smiled and caught his captain’s lips again. K let go of a soft groan, and Freddy delved deeper with his tongue and felt K retaliate - their tongues soon fighting for dominance. Their shared breaths were getting stronger and faster-

Then K wasn’t kneeling anymore. And Freddy was pulling him back onto the bed-

They loved each other intimately, deeply, and feverishly into the night - never parting for a long moment and never wanting to let the night slip past their fingers uncherished and unfulfilled. K was attentive to Freddy in ways that he had not allowed himself to during the several years they had together. He didn’t deny him anything .

Freddy marveled at K’s beauty - even though the man was adamant he was only dashingly handsome. Freddy knew there was not a single man out there who was as beautifully strong as K. And they memorized each other so intricately, confident that their memories would carry on to the next life.

But in their midst of a passionate night, hope solidified its place in their hearts. A part of them truly believing that by some grace of god that they would win tomorrow - not Germany, just them - and that they would see the night again. That they would live their life together forever.

And the life they could have had in another time passed in front of their eyes as they curled in the bathtub - one last bath before sleep, where they would merely wash away the evidence of their lovemaking over the past several hours - but never forget it.

In the silence between them just before sleep, K prayed their deaths would be quick and together. The thought of Freddy not being by his side- He shook his head and pressed a firm kiss to Freddy’s temple.

“Are you alright?”

He hummed, “Yah, just thinking.”

Freddy propped himself up on his elbow and looked at the man he grew to love. Every day since the moment they became friends - then more than friends - he couldn’t believe the powerful feelings he held for this man. His captain.

K caressed the side of his face and smiled softly, “And what are you thinking of, my love?”

His mouth curled into a smile. “Of you wearing your tassels and that red cape tomorrow.”

K chuckled. “Ah, mein kleines Lamm, and don’t forget my feathered helmet.”

“Ha!”

K brought Freddy in for a single kiss. “Hm? And what of your costume? I cannot wait to see you wear your helmet and that pink triangle cape. And your own tassels,” he grinned, faintly tickling Freddy’s side.

He giggled.

The older gave a content sigh, “I am so very happy you’re here, Freddy. There’s no one else I would choose for my second in battle. Thank you.”

Freddy’s boyish smile turned soft and he lightly carded his fingers through K’s hair.  “There’s no one else I would follow.” He kissed K and lightly laughed when the man tugged him back down beside him.

K smiled at the sweet sound then slowly his smile faded. He sighed.

Dawn would appear in less than six hours…

“I’ll give you everything, Freddy, everything,” he rumbled in the darkness, absentmindedly caressing his shoulder. “When the war is over… I’ll give you everything.”

Freddy smiled softly and curled further against his side. He rested his chin on K’s shoulder and looked at his captain. “We can be free?”

He smiled faintly and kissed his blond curls – a tinge of sadness to his face. “We can be free.”

Notes:

haha so just in case you're wondering why I stopped at the intimacy part... a little tmi/fyi now: I don't do sex scenes but I felt like these two deserved that... NOPE, as you can see, that didn't happen! But you know, I feel it's better this way ;)

Thank you so much for reading!
