Alone

Summary:

Suffocating in space

Work Text:

It turns out even with the vast endlessness of space I am truly alone.

I have to admit though I liked it while it lasted. The feeling of being in a place so few have been. The indescribable feeling of being surrounded by people who are experiencing the exact same things. The idea of being a family. Knowing these will be my last moments, I can't help but be bitter.

I can feel the oxygen getting thinner with every breath I take, but the brilliant excellence of my surroundings almost makes up for the fact that I'm slowly suffocating. The abject nothingness was beautiful in some ways but harrowing in others. I could feel my lungs contracting, burning for air. Yelling for release. The back of my throat burning and my eyes watering. I wanted to scream but nothing would come out. I scraped my gloved fingers at my throat uselessly. I could feel my body getting heavy and my vision blurred. Tears were running down my face.

I didn't want to die.
