Mirabel Overthinks and Causes Herself To Have an Emotional Breakdown :)

Summary:

this is hella short and im sorry for that lmao! i usually despise short stories, but i wanted to put this out here! This is basically a headcanon that turned into a short story lmao.

Work Text:

angsty hc that once Casita is rebuilt, its basically the exact same, and sadly Mirabel doesn't get her own special room. and she goes back to her room- the nursery. and proceeds to have a full breakdown because the house had taken a few months to rebuild, and she had gotten used to being with everyone in her family, and them all being equal, no powers, no magic, just them.

she had gotten used to being able to speak in a normal tone around Dolores, and had gotten used to spending more time with Camilo again.

she had gotten used to helping her mama cook and being able to help her sisters without getting in the way.

she had gotten used to spending time with her Tia Pepa and Tio Felix, just reading with them in a sitting room and being in the same space as them, without the weather fluctuating due to any stress Pepa was feeling.

she had gotten used to hanging out with Tio Bruno, who understood her the most.

And she was glad Casita was back of course, she had missed the familiar warmth of her house and the clinking of Casita's tiles. But with Casita came the magic. and with the magic came the distances that stretched for miles between her and her family.

They had said they would do better, but would they? They never had in the past. They had never been there for her when she had practically raised Antonio by herself, they hadn't been better when she was struggling to save the family on her own. Now that the magic was back, they didn't need her anymore. They would go back to normal, of course they would. They had no real reason to stick around.

And so she cried, and sobbed, and screamed into her pillow so Dolores' ears wouldn't hurt. She mourned the love and comfort she had grown used to in the past few months, she cried for the friendliness that would surely fade as quickly as it came, she screamed for her mother, who would soon go back to being too busy to even look at her.

and then literally none of that happened because Mirabel was overthinking things!
