Chapter Text

You'd like to think your life wasn't anything too chaotic. You had a normal apartment, normal pet cat, and a normal social life. That was until you met Mike Schmidt. He, just like you, seemed to be an ordinary person. He had dark brown short hair, blue eyes, & usually wore a purple shirt. Although you never really saw him outside of night guard uniform, because the only times you saw him was at your job, Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. You were a waitress there while he was the night guard. There wasn't much times where you talked to him, but from what you've heard from your co-workers, he was a quiet closed off guy who gave off the vibe that he didn't like socializing. But on one day that started off very uneventful, the manager had pulled you aside for something that was unknown to you.

"Is there anything you want to ask me, sir?" You asked your manager who stood in front of you.

"Well yes." Your manager began, "the management team has decided that it could be better to have two night guards, rather than just one. To avoid the trouble of having to go through a bunch of interviews, I wanted to ask you if you wanted to be 'promoted' to the job." You looked awkwardly back at him with confusion written all over your face.

"Why did you want to ask me though?" You questioned.

"Well, I believe you would be the perfect fit for the job! Since you've been in this job for a while, I've noticed all the skills you possess." Your manager smiled as he continued, "you are very good with noticing small details, and other things that match the job description."

"Well uh... I don't really know if I would be the right fit for this jo-"

"Your pay check will increase if that's of any importance to you."

You stopped what you were saying. You would not mind having higher pay then what you already get, and being a night guard couldn't be too hard. You hesitantly begun speaking again saying, "alright. I'll do it, but you owe me that higher paycheck."

"Deal!" Your manager said with a joyful tone and a goofy smile on his face. You knew your manager was quite fond of you, for some reason. You think it was because you went out of your way to clean up the kitchen at night. Or who knows, maybe he just liked you for your personality.

Your manager told you that your first shift would begin tomorrow night at 12am and to be there at 11:30pm. He handed you your clothes and your badge that you went to go put in your locker. Somehow word had already gotten out and your coworker friends had already known about you getting offered the job.

"Y/n!" Your friend Jessie called out for you. Jessie was a good friend to everyone that worked at the pizzeria, and was liked because of her cheerful personality. She knew all the work gossip & secrets that everyone had. She was the type of person you'd go to if you had a question about someone.

"Yea?" You turned to see Jessie standing right besides you now, a bit to close for comfort. You stepped back as you now fully faced her.

"I heard you got offered the new night guard job, did you accept?" Jessie asked, as her brown curious eyes studied you.

"Yeah. They said I could get a higher pay, and I mean I couldn't turn that down." You replied.

"Well you do realize you're gonna be working along side Mike Schmidt." Jessie said, "I never got to know him, and I really don't know if I want to. I've heard he's bit rude, and doesn't seem to like people. He's rarely even seen around here since he always comes when everyone has left." Jessie sighed.

Right. You completely forgot you would be working with Mike. Suddenly you felt anxiety creep upon you as you realized you'd have to communicate with someone who is basically a stranger. If you hadn't accepted the night guard position, you probably could've gone your whole life not knowing him. There was now a bit of awkward silence due to you being lost in thought. You snapped back into reality and pushed down the anxiety that you had and tried to seem calm.

"I'm sure it won't be a big deal. He probably isn't that bad of a person!" You smiled as you tried to think on the positive side of things.

"Yeah I sure hope you're right. But if he ever messes with you, let me know, alright?" Jessie asked. Jessie was very protective of you since you guys had basically became good friends.

"Alright, alright." You playfully rolled your eyes, chuckling a bit.

"Well I've got to get going. I promised my little brother I would watch a movie with him, and I don't want to be late." Jessie said as she pulled you into a hug, not asking if you were ok with it or not. You awkwardly hugged Jessie back, remembering that it was just in Jessie's nature to hug everyone when she gets the chance to. Jess stopped hugging you and said goodbye as you watched her get her things and leave. Not long after, you left the pizzeria too, and headed to your apartment. You opened your apartment door and plopped on your couch. You turned on your TV and watched some crappy sitcom, since that was all that was on.

You laid staring up at your ceiling, letting your thoughts run all over the place. You couldn't help but think about what your job would be like and what may happen. You thought about Mike and what he may be like. A part of you wished it would just be you, and the other part of you was thankful that you weren't gonna be alone. It was a bit scary to you, realizing that it will be night time and a intruder could definitely break in. Then you were hit with a realization. The animatronics. Oh lord. Your mind now raced with ideas of how the animatronics may be possessed, and try to eat you.

You sat up realizing that you had sunken into your thoughts too much. You looked at the clock which read 10:20pm. You got up and prepared for bed as a way to get away from your thoughts. There couldn't possibly be anything crazy that can happen with animatronics for kids. Right?
