He's been looking at the script that they sent him to review for this Romantic Comedy Drama that will air on TvN for he doesn't know how long. Mixed of thoughts are running inside his mind knowing that there are some things that have changed now.
Beautiful changes to be exact.
Of course he is excited to accept the role, after all the story is interesting and it has been a long time since he did this kind of genre. He just can't help to worry about Hyun Been. Not because she is someone who easily gets jealous but she is his priority now. He always try to consider her feelings because the least thing that he wants to do to her is to hurt her.
Am I just being petty?
He has been asking his self for the nth time. Then he remembered what she told him one night when they're having their usual date on his apartment. He was drinking the wine she chose at their favorite shop when he noticed that she's been staring at him.
*Start of flashback*
"Wae, Hyun Been~ah? Do you want to say something?" His voice was so soft as if he's talking to a child.
"Oppa.." She swallowed hard and gave herself some time before she continue.
Yeon Seok didn't want to interrupt her because he knows it is something important for her to think carefully on what words to use.
"Hmm, I just want to open up about this. I don't know if you'll laugh about this..." She worriedly looked at him and scratched her neck.
"There's a kissing scene on the drama that I am in right now. It's not super sensual and it's just a short scene. I know.. I know.. you might be wondering why I sound like I've cheated on you or what but I don't want to keep these kind of things even if you'll think that it's not really important." She took a deep breath and raised her face to see his reaction. She noticed how his adam's apple moved, a reaction he usually has when he's caught off guard.
"How can I laugh about that, hmm?" He cupped her face trying to make an eye contact.
"I've been your partner for 2 years and it made me feel like I am the only one who has all the right to kiss you on screen. Of course, I might be a little jealous seeing you kissed another man but we can not avoid that in this kind of work. And I know how actors do those kind of scenes. It might appear romantic and full of tension in the eyes of the viewers but we know it's just beautifully choreographed. I appreciate how brave you are to open up about this kind of matter. Thank you, Been~ah for the honesty and for being transparent." He smiled at her trying to make her feel that he really meant what he just said.
She moved to sit on his lap and rested her face on his chest. "I want this to work that's why I try to be transparent to you about almost everything." She inhaled his masculine scent as he tightened his grip on his waist. She felt his hand rubbing his back — a habit of his whenever he wants to comfort her.
"Saranghae, Been~ah and yes we will make this work." He closed his eyes savoring the moment. God, he might have saved the whole nation on his past life to deserve someone like her.
Hyun Been lifted her face to look at him and placed her hand on his chest and started drawing some circles. Yeon Seok remained quiet while his eyes are close.
"Oppa.." her voice almost like a whisper.
"Hmm?" he opened his eyes only to see her biting her lips. He can't help but to clench his fist but this is not the right time to prioritize his raging hormones.
"Can you also be transparent to me about these kind of things? I won't be the immature girlfriend who would want to know your every move. I just want us to be open on the things that we know we should be talking about. I will not stop your growth as an actor, I promise. I will always be here to support you. I just don't want to let something be a cause of misunderstanding. I don't know how to explain it without sounding like an obsessive girlfriend -"
He cut her with a deep kiss. Seeing her being sorry for wanting something that is good for them makes his heart ache.
"Jagiya, it's fine. I know you're not that obsessive and immature type of girlfriend. I know what you mean, okay?" He gave her another peck.
"And yes, I promise I will be transparent about these kind of things. Hmm?" His voice is so soft melting all her worries away.
"Gomawo, oppa. Neomu saranghae."
*End of flashback*
With that he sent her a text asking if she has some time today to talk. He's relieved to know that her afternoon schedule has been cancelled so she will be spending the rest of her day on her apartment.
"Oppa, just open the door and get inside. I am at my reading nook so I can't stand up fast."
He smiled to see her text while he's on his way. She was the first woman he met who loves to read.
He reached her apartment and naturally punched the code, excited to see the love of his life. On his other hand is the script that he's been checking a while ago.
She's busy scanning the books that seems to be newly bought because she's taking it out from a big box. He knocked on the wall to catch her attention.
She excitedly opened her arms inviting him to an embrace which he gladly accepted. Her hair smells like green apples and she feels like home. He can't help to feel giddy seeing his shirt on her small frame.
He scooted her to sit on his lap and nuzzled at her neck. Hyun Been sensed that something is bothering him so she combed his hair with her fingers.
"What is it? Tell me." Her voice so delicate that he can't help to let out a deep sigh. He picked up the papers on his side and handed it to her. She curiously looked at him but without a word she flipped the paper one by one and then she nods.
"What about this, oppa?" She gently laid it down and looked at his eyes trying to find an answer.
Yeon Seok took another deep breath.
"They offered me the main lead on this upcoming drama and it includes some romantic scenes. I'm worried that I might offend you or hurt you and that's the last thing I wanted to make you feel. This will be the first time that I'm going to this kind of genre while in relationship." He worriedly looked at her. He has been overthinking about this and he knows that on times like this the best thing to do is to talk to her because she is the only one who can calm him down.
He suddenly felt her lips brushed with his and she lovingly smiled at him making him feel like he is the most precious man on earth.
"First, I want you to inhale and exhale. Hmm?" He nodded and followed what she said.
"Next, I want to say thank you. Thank you for keeping your promise. And lastly, do you like the story of the drama, hmm?" She tilted her face to see his honest reaction.
"I do. It's actually interesting and it's something I haven't done yet." She cupped his face so he can look at him.
"Then accept it, oppa. I trust you and I will never stop you from growing as an actor. I know you're worried because it might cause some misunderstanding but oppa, it's work. It's our work. The only time I'll get mad at you would be if you fell in love with your co-star?" She playfully said but Yeon Seok shook his head in disagreement. Hyun Been laughed at his candid reaction.
He pulled her closer to him inhaling her scent.
"Thank you for being understanding and I will keep you posted about the things that concerns our relationship. I'll make sure of that."
She continued combing his hair, making him loosen up.
"It's our job, oppa. And we have to work hard knowing all the bills that we have to pay right? Oh! And knowing how maximalist you are that you always have something to buy?" She started teasing him that he can't help but to pout.
"But you're right, it's our job and yes I have to work hard especially now that I want to build a family with you." She was caught off guard for a moment and bit the side of her cheek to stop herself to smile widely. Laying her head on his wide shoulder while his hands hold her waist not letting any space between them she uttered,
"Working hard because we want to build a family together — that sounds good. I like it." She can hear the fast beating of his heart and she knows that her heart is also the same.
Yeon Seok is now at peace knowing that she knows his worries and that they are in this together. She's right after all. This is their job.
And Hyun Been will always be his reality. She is his home. The one he will always want to see at the end of every day.
