Summer vacation is officially over.
It is the first day of school for the kids. What a drag.
Now that means, Daniel and Johnny Lawrence will have to wake their kids up early for school for the next 10 months. They will admit they love summer vacation since they get to have extra sleep too.
The sun rays were shining in the men's bedroom, directly hitting Johnny, the bright sunlight woke him up. He groaned once he realized he was awake, he wanted to stay in bed longer though that wasn't an option now.
He felt a kiss on his cheek, and that's when he turned around to see Daniel with a smile on his face. That smile brightens Johnny's day more than the actual sunlight, Johnny smiled back at him and he feels his lips on him, Johnny kissed back.
"Good morning honey," Daniel said while stroking Johnny's face, giving him one more kiss before he sits up and gets out of bed.
"Good morning babe," Johnny said back to him, he will never get tired of waking up next to him.
When Daniel gets up from bed, Johnny stays there for a while since he didn't want to get up, but he followed his husband to the shower and goes on with their usual routine. Once they were dressed in their usual attire, Daniel with his professional look since he is the face of many dealerships and Johnny was casual as he is a handyman.
There was no need for Johnny to work since he technically owns the dealership alongside Daniel, though he hasn't stepped foot to work there in so long. There is a good reason for that, Johnny can't stand Daniel's cousin Louie and his friend Anoush, so it was best to stay away from them, he can only withstand Amanda.
He can go to the other dealerships, but he'd rather be in the one with Daniel, so that wasn't an option. A handyman job made Johnny feel more like a man so he stuck with it even though he hated his job, he loved fixing things.
Both men walk to their kids' rooms to make sure they are awake, the boys were still sleeping, Johnny wakes Robby up while Daniel wakes up Charlie. They walk by Sam's room to see her getting ready, the men smiled and greeted her with a good morning.
"Good morning dads." She said as she was getting her makeup done, she was so beautiful that she didn't need makeup. That's Johnny and Daniel's little girl, the princess, the youngest of the three kids.
They walk into the kitchen, one starts making breakfast while the other brews some coffee.
A few minutes later, Sam comes to the table and sits down to accompany her dads with a smile on her face. She was ready to start school this year.
When Daniel turned around, he saw Sam and gave her a smile and that's when he sees Charlie walking over shirtless and still in his sweats, not dressed for school.
"Morning dads, morning princess." Charlie greets them, giving a smile to the men, but a side eye to Sam.
"Morning buddy," Johnny and Daniel said in unison.
Meanwhile, Sam turns her head to give him a glare for calling her princess in that tone then immediately turns back. “Ew! Put a shirt on! No one wants to see your body acne.”
“Hey! Screw you, my body is clear.” Charlie shot back.
“Charlie! Watch your language, and go put a shirt on. You need to get ready for school anyways.” Daniel instructs him to do so.
Charlie rolls his blue eyes, groaning, and puts his hands up in frustration as he heads to his room to change.
Just then Robby walks past Charlie and looks at him. “Yeah, dude no one wants to see your tits while we eat.” Robby teased him and chuckled, going to the table and sitting next to Sam.
“It's called a chest idiot.” Charlie rolled his eyes again and went back to his room to go change out of his sleeping clothes and put on school clothes, his style is usually the preppy rich boy look; khaki pants, white converse with a light blue sweater.
Over at the kitchen, Daniel was cooking the usual: pancakes, eggs, and bacon. The aroma is wonderful and something he looks forward to every morning. When the man looks back to see his children and Charlie walking over to the table.
Daniel couldn't believe just how much his son looks exactly like Johnny did when he was a teenager.
It's as if they time-traveled to 1984 and brought Johnny Lawrence to the present day, except for the 80s hairstyle and sports more of a modern haircut. At one point Daniel called him Johnny a few times by accident, the boy understood as he saw pictures of his fathers when they were young.
Daniel had been married to Johnny for 24 years and together for 34 years. Most of the years were wonderful, but like any marriage, they had their ups and downs, mostly they had the ups.
Daniel never thought that they would be together for this long and have three beautiful kids together. Robby, Charlie, and Samantha Lawrence.
All were born within the same year. Yes, it was a crazy idea to have them be born all together since it was like raising triplets, but Daniel and Johnny wanted the challenge.
Robby was born on February 4, 2002, Charlie was born just 4 months after that on June 14, 2002, and Samantha was born on August 7, 2002.
Everyone thought Daniel was crazy, but he wanted the three of them to be born at the same age so they can grow up together, go to school together, and experience the same things together.
So the only way to accomplish that was through surrogacy and it sure was a lot of money, at least for Robby's surrogate but Daniel had saved up and opened a dealership so he could afford it. With Charlie and Sam, the surrogates were Daniel and Johnny's friends.
That all worked out in the end since the three of them were born and they were beautiful babies turned toddlers to kids to preteens and now they are teenagers.
Daniel and Johnny admit they were a handful though, but many times they wish they can do it again.
Daniel's replay of flashbacks of his family brought him back to the present and smiled at the sight of his family that he always pictured, even if they were about to be in their rebellious stage.
Johnny makes Daniel's coffee the way he likes it and made his own cup, he hands it to Daniel who took it and smiled, giving him a kiss. Robby and Sam were sitting facing where the men were and groaned from seeing their dads kissed. No kids like seeing their parents get mushy in front of them.
Both men laugh when they pull away. Daniel serves breakfast on several plates and gives them to his children, then serves for him and Johnny, putting the plate where Johnny sits and where Daniel will be sitting which is usually next to Charlie.
Everyone starts eating, and before Daniel eats he speaks up to have a conversation with his kids. “So, is everybody ready for school? New school year already, sophomores.” Daniel smiles at them, and the boys groan.
“School is such a drag,” Charlie said, drinking his orange juice.
Robby shrugs. “It’s just another year.”
“I’m actually excited for this year, I might try out for the soccer team or do cheerleading this year with Moon,” Sam said with a smile, picking a piece of a scrambled egg from her fork. Daniel nodded with a smile.
“How can you be so excited? To become a basic girl?” Charlie teased her with a smirk on his face, she knitted her eyebrows at him.
Robby scoffed. “Like you’re one to talk dude,” he insulted, and Sam giggled, Charlie rolls his eyes.
“Shut up, why don’t you go get a haircut, Dora?” Charlie insulted back with a smirk.
Robby looked up from his plate to glare at Charlie. “What did you say little shit?!” He asked, glaring at him, Charlie laughed at his reaction.
Daniel decided to stop this before it gets ugly. “Hey, hey, enough. All of you. Charlie, apologize to your brother and sister.”
“But-” Charlie points at them
“Quiet!” Johnny yells out, startling everyone. “No buts man, apologize.”
Charlie groans and looks at the two of them who had smirks on their face. “I’m sorry.” It was hard for Charlie to admit, he rolls his blue eyes again.
After that, they continued to eat breakfast and when they finished, they were all on their way to school with Daniel and Johnny driving them.
Once the three Lawrences arrived at school, they go their separate ways. Robby heads outside, Sam goes to Yasmine and Moon, and Charlie walks up to Kyler and his friends, giving everyone their handshake.
“Yo, what’s up bro? Let's make this year another good one,” Kyler said, Charlie smirked.
“Yeah, bro definitely!” Charlie replied.
At that moment, someone accidentally bumps into Charlie. The blond stumbles almost pushing Kyler, he turns around to see this scrawny hispanic kid.
“Dude, what the fuck?!” Charlie threw his hand up while looking at the guy, studying his features and trying to see if he recognizes him, must be a freshman.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t see where I was going.” The hispanic boy replied, sounding worried about what might happen. This kid had no muscles whatsoever.
“Well watch it, man! I’m letting you go off because I’m a nice guy, kay?” Charlie said with a fake smile, usually one that jocks always give pretending to be nice while his arm was wrapped around the kid.
“Okay, I’m sorry again.” He apologized while trying not to look at Charlie.
“Alright, get out of here.” Charlie shoves him and the boy walks away. Kyler and the rest of the group started laughing, Charlie turned to them with a grin.
“Man, you really are a nice guy. I wouldn’t have let that shit go.” Kyler chuckles.
Charlie shrugged. “Dude didn’t see where he was going.”
The bell rings and now they have to go to class, they all went their separate ways. Charlie walks to class, while he may have been classified as a jock, deep down he was an actual nerd and is intelligent so the classes he got were advanced.
The moment he stepped into his class, he looked around for which desk to take and noticed the same hispanic kid who bumped into him earlier. A smirk curled on his lips, he made his way over to the desk available next to him. As he sat down, the boy noticed the blond and panicked, he started to look around for another seat available then he looks back at Charlie who had the same smirk.
“Dude, relax, too much stress is not good for the muscles.” He said, his hand on the scrawny guy's shoulder. Charlie is going to have some fun teasing this guy.
A few hours later, it was time for lunch, Charlie met up with Kyler and the rest of the guys. He wasn't paying much attention to them because from afar he sees the same hispanic guy from his class sitting with two familiar faces, Demetri and Eli. A frown formed on his face when he noticed all three of them together as it brought back old memories from when he hung out with Demetri and Eli when they were younger.
Charlie hasn't talked to them for about a year, a week after they started their freshman year when Charlie tried out for the wrestling team. Once Charlie was accepted into the team, they became distant as he started to hang around Kyler more when it came to practice. Though, he regrets it now when he realized he turned into an asshole like Kyler.
“Yo, go mess with those three nerds over there,” Kyler said to Charlie and pointed at the group, it was Demetri and Eli along with the new kid. If he doesn’t do this, who knows what Kyler and his friends will do to Charlie?
Charlie gets up and starts walking over there, he looked back at Kyler and everyone else who watched him, he smirked. He continued to walk up to the nerd table, feeling nervous suddenly, he wraps his arms around Demetri and Eli. “Well well, if it isn’t my good old friends Demetri and Eli.” Charlie chuckles.
Demetri seemed annoyed, while Eli looked down at his tray of food to avoid Charlie. The hispanic boy watched, wanting to do something.
“Leave us alone,” Demetri muttered while looking down at his food.
Charlie gasped, pretending to be offended. “Why would I do that? You guys are my best friends," He squeezed them with his arms and chuckled.
"Were," Demetri corrected him. "Were your best friends, until you decided to ruin it."
That hit Charlie right where it hurts because that is the truth. If he hadn't wanted to join the school's wrestling team in the first place, they would be best friends right now. His frown turns back to a scowl and he rolls his eyes.
The blond looks at Eli and immediately feels bad for him, regretting what he’s doing here. Charlie has more of a soft spot for Eli since he’s always been shy, timid, and insecure. Everyone made fun of Eli for his lip scar so Charlie takes it easy on him, knowing how sensitive that subject is to Eli.
“Come on, this is like a little reunion between us and Demetri wants to kick me out, can you believe that Eli?” Charlie asks with a smirk on his face.
Eli ignores him, Charlie can feel him shaking while his arms are around him and that’s when he decides to leave them alone and lets them go. There was no need to go further with Eli, it was not in his conscience to continue bullying him. Charlie rubs his shoulder gently and then notices the hispanic boy watching their interaction, the blond smirks.
“Menudo over here can’t possibly be my replacement, come on now guys.” Charlie chuckled, he learned in class while attendance was taken, his name was Miguel, but of course, in the usual bully fashion, he says something else.
“He’s already a better friend than you have ever been!” Demetri snapped and looked up at him, the blond backed away, startled that Demetri stood up against Charlie. That comment hurts, Charlie stands there with a shocked expression. Only now does he realize what kind of person he has become and doesn't like who he is then he hears Kyler and the rest of the guys exclaiming their oohs and laughs.
“You really gonna let that nerd talk to you like that bro?” Kyler laughs
Charlie's face changed to a scowl, he and Demetri stared at each other but decided to not make a bigger scene. “I don’t give a shit what he says man, let’s go.” He walks back to where they were sitting and regretted what he had done.
After lunch, Charlie and his friends were walking together around the hallways. The thing that ticked Charlie off earlier at lunch was Kyler couldn't stop staring at Sam, his little sister. There was no way he will let him date Sam, she did not need a guy like that holding her back and will persuade her to not go out with him.
As they stopped in one of their lockers, they all spotted Miguel yet again coming their way, Kyler patted Charlie's arm and pointed to the boy. Charlie smirked looking at his friends then he put his leg out and trips the boy over.
The boy fell over, almost hitting his face on the floor, Charlie, Kyler, and the rest of the group laugh at him.
“You were not watching where you were going. Pay fucking attention, dude.” Charlie gives high fives to his group.
“Asshole,” Miguel muttered, but Charlie heard him and turned to look down at him
“The fuck did you say?!” Charlie went over to him, Kyler and the rest let out ooohs and instigated.
“I didn’t say anything.” Miguel looked up and panicked and was trying to make peace. Charlie grabbed him to lift him up and shove him to the lockers.
"Mind repeating that?! Say it to my face!" Charlie snapped at him, his temper can run hot quickly. Everyone knows to not piss him off. Charlie then punches him in the stomach, Miguel groaned and slouched over. Before Charlie can throw another punch, he heard a whistle, and security guards came and took him away.
"Wait! I didn't do anything!" His arms were being grabbed by two guards and they dragged him away, the blond tried to remember Miguel's name. "Tell them Menudo! Let go of me!” Charlie struggled to get the security guards off him.
The security guards held onto him tightly and reported him to the front office, at this point, Charlie stopped resisting and they let go of him. The blond waited for the principal to call him any minute, he sighs and was thinking about the day he had.
The principal stepped out of his door and called him over, Charlie rolls his eyes and followed the man. "Close the door and have a seat, Mr. Lawrence,"
Charlie did exactly that and sat down in front of the principal, giving him a smile. "What's up, Mr. Lopez? May I say that's a great suit you're wearing?" Charlie complimented and attempted to sweet talk.
"Save the flattery, Mr. Lawrence." The principal said and Charlie's smile faded. "The first day hasn't even finished and you're assaulting a student?"
"But, we were just messing around, that guy was my friend. You know us wrestling guys, always competitive." Charlie grins, the principal wasn't having it.
The man shook his head, disappointed in Charlie. "I'm sorry, but I am going to have to suspend you for the next three days."
Charlie was shocked to hear that, he wasn't expecting this. "What?! No, you can't do that! Please, Mr. Lopez, I swear this won't happen again if you let me go."
"I'm afraid I can't do that. You're suspended and if you show up on school property, you will be charged with trespass." The principal said to the blond and he sighed, regretting what he had done to get him here in this situation.
Shit, Charlie thought. He watched as the man grabs the phone, ready to call one of his fathers and let them know what happened. There is going to be a lecture once they pick him up. How annoying.
After Johnny gets fired from his day job, he doesn't want to deal with today. It didn't matter if he had a day job since he is co-owner of the dealership with Daniel, but he's a handyman, not a salesman.
He decided to go visit Daniel to gently break the news he had been fired over a misunderstanding. Johnny drove to the dealership where Daniel was, he walked past everyone, he hated mostly every one of Daniel’s friends except Amanda. He succeeded when he wasn’t approached and went to Daniel’s office, lightly knocking on the door.
The brunette man was working on paperwork, he looked up noticing a presence standing in his doorway, and was surprised to see a blond man, Johnny, he smiled at the sight. “Johnny? What are you doing here? Want a new car?” He teases so he can stop driving the firebird that he’s had for more than 20 years.
Johnny rolled his eyes, shaking his head, he loved his firebird car. That was the first car he bought with his own money and now it’s sentimental to him, lately, Daniel nags him about getting a new car. Only to drive the pontiac for special occasions.
“No way, not trading in my baby. I came to visit you.” Johnny said. He looked around the office, nice and tidy. Pictures of him and Daniel together, the kids, and some other decor.
“That’s sweet Johnny, it’s only been a few hours, but I missed you.”
“And also because I got fired,” Johnny said quickly, to get it out of the way. Daniel raises his eyebrows in surprise.
“What? Seriously? What happened?” Daniel asked to hear the story.
“That bitch didn’t tell me where to put the tv, she got mad. I tried to tell her that it would take me time to fix up everything, then I told her to quit bitching at me and that’s how it ended.” Johnny told his side of the story, Daniel took it in, sighed then grinned because Johnny still has that temper. He is not much of a people person, which is why he rather be fixing things.
“Oh Johnny, well you know you can always come here and fix cars again. We can work together again like old times.” Daniel offered and he smiled. Johnny nodded
“That would be nice, except I wouldn’t want to work around your idiot friend & cousin,” Johnny said, expressing his dislike for Anoush and Louie.
“I know they can be annoying, trust me I’d want Louie gone, but you know my mom.”
“She understands how much of a pain in the ass he is babe, everyone can vouch, me, you, Amanda. I’ll work here, but until that son of a bitch is gone.” Johnny said, Daniel grinned.
Then Daniel’s phone rang, and he picked it up to answer. “Hello?” He listened to who it was. It was the principal of the school, he rolled his eyes when he knew this would be about Robby, but then he was informed it was about Charlie and looked furious.
He sighed and rubbed his face with his other hand, he didn’t need this news. His kid got into a fight at school. “Yes I’ll go pick him up, I’ll be there.” Daniel hung up the phone, rubbing his face.
Johnny noticed it was bad news, for Daniel to react like that it had to be. “What’s wrong? What happened? Robby?”
“Charlie got into a fight, I swear this kid. He is so grounded.” Daniel got up from his chair and was about to put the paperwork away.
“Wait, Daniel, I’ll go pick him up. I’ll give him a good talking to.” Johnny said, getting his keys out.
“You sure John? Or maybe we can both go?” Daniel asked
“Yeah I’m sure, you got a lot on your hands, I got this. I’ll do what I can do. I’ll see you later.” Johnny kissed Daniel and was on his way out to pick their son up.
They did not need another kid who was on his way to being a delinquent, Robby was enough, he never listened to Johnny or Daniel, it would be worse to have it doubled. Johnny was on his way to the school to pick him up, he was disappointed seeing Charlie in the principal’s office and receiving a suspension for three days.
They both got in Johnny's firebird, the car ride was silent as both didn't want to speak. Johnny turned up the radio tuning into his music while the blond teen stared out the window to avoid any conversation.
"Getting suspended on your first day of school already? Missing 3 days? What the hell is wrong with you?" Johnny questioned him wanting to knock some sense into his head though he restrained since he is the 'cool parent,' as the kids described him. The young blond crossed his arms looking outside the window staying silent.
"Wanna play the silent game huh?” Johnny said annoyed.
Charlie got his phone out and Johnny quickly snatched it away.
“Give it back dad!”
“He finally speaks. No way, not until you go back to school. I’m dropping you off at the dealership, I got a few things to do.”
“This sucks,” Charlie muttered.
“Yeah, well life isn’t always fair, you’ll realize that soon.”
Johnny arrives at the dealership and walks Charlie to Daniel’s office. When he knocks, the brunette man looks up and sees his son basically ignoring both his dads.
Daniel gives the teenager a disappointed look, then looks at Johnny with a smile.
“Hey babe, I’m gonna be doing some errands, figured I’d leave this one with you for now?”
Daniel nodded. “Sure, Johnny.”
Johnny nodded and handed him Charlie’s phone that he took away, Daniel smiled that Johnny can also be a responsible parent.
“Love you, babe.”
“Love you too,” Johnny said as he walked out, hearing a little groan from his son, it made him grin as he left. That is when the brilliant idea hits him of opening up a karate dojo.
Since he doesn't want to work at the dealership, and he's tired of fixing things for ungrateful people, he's not good at anything else besides karate. Now that he's older and had earned a black belt at only 17, he is definitely qualified.
So, he takes a drive over to Reseda when he saw available space when he was doing maintenance work at an apartment complex in Reseda. Plus it seems like a better idea to educate kids from this area rather than the Encino brats or other valley kids.
When he saw the space on the inside later that day when he called the leasing agent, he knew he had to take it. The place was a fixer upper, though he didn't mind getting his hands dirty.
And since his kid got suspended, he thought it would be a great idea for a little father son bonding over this rather than just staying home and doing nothing. This will teach him discipline and learn how to control his temper which is getting him into fights.
The name for his new dojo is Cobra Kai and planned to keep it a secret from Daniel for now.
