Work Text:
Dean was miserable.
Not miserable in the sense that he wanted to go out and hunt because he's restless miserable.
But sick miserable. And he doesn't even get sick.
Or well he didn't use to.
Ever since they defeated Chuck and got Cas back he's gotten little colds here and there.
But this isn't a normal, little cold.
This isn't something a little soup and medicine could fix.
Nope, cause apparently that's too easy for a Winchester.
No this is sniffles, sneezing, snot and coughs, and he's pretty sure he might have a fever. And a little more but Dean's not getting into that. So he's pretty sure he's got the flu or something.
He was hoping he could just hide in his room so as not to get worried looks from Sam.
Dean should have known not to press his own luck.
Because there comes a knock at his door and Sam's voice.
"Dean? Hey you up? You haven't been out of your room at all today and it's almost five in the afternoon." Sam says.
"I'm fine." Dean says and his voice sounds scratchy even to him. "Just tired is all."
But of course that didn't make Sam go away. He opens Dean's door that half the time forgets to lock, last night for example he was too damn tired and his head hurt like a bitch and his nose felt stuffy.
"Woah." Sam says stopping in the doorway with a worried expression. "Dean you sure you're okay? You're super pale and you look sweaty."
Dean's about to say he's fine again when a coughing fit interrupts that.
"Yeah you're not fine so don't even." Sam says and he slowly backs out the door. "I'm gonna go get Cas." And he's out the door leaving it open as Dean is wracked with more coughs.
A few minutes later Cas comes in.
"Oh hey, Cas." Dean says and he knows how he sounds right now.
Dean's eyes slip closed for a second before reopening them as Cas gently puts his cool hand on Dean's forehead. And Dean can't even find it in himself to swat his hand away.
"Oh, Dean." Cas says and he sounds so apologetic. "You're burning up."
"M'fine." Dean mumbles feeling so exhausted that he wants to sleep for a week.
"No you're not." Cas says sternly.
"Can't you heal it?" Dean grumbles and it sounded meaner than he meant but he's too sick to care. "I mean not that I'd let you anyway but."
"You know I can't. I still have my grace but-"
"Not enough to heal anything?" Dean interrupts.
"No." Cas softly says. "I'm sorry, Dean."
"What for?" Dean asks as Cas sits next to him on the bed.
"I can't heal this for you." Cas says.
Dean sits up as much as his head will allow without him getting dizzy and looks at Cas with a dumbfounded expression.
"Cas I don't need you to heal me, it's okay. I just have to ride this through, it's not my first rodeo." Dean says and puts in hand on Cas's knee. "Cas look at me. I'm fine, okay? It's probably just the flu, I'll get over it. You can go out if you want though, I don't wanna get you sick."
"Dean." Cas just says looking at him like he's stupid. "I'm still an angel, I can't get sick, let me take care of you. Please."
"No, I can handle this. Go do your angel stuff." Dean says and coughs again. "It's not even that bad anyway."
"I'll be the judge of that." And Cas grabs out the thermometer he must've grabbed on his way to Dean's room and sticks it into Dean's mouth. A couple minutes later Cas is getting up again and wiping the thermometer off on his sleeve.
"Where you going?" Dean asks, looking at his angel through half lidded eyes.
"Just getting a cool washcloth." Cas says.
"Kay." Dean softly says as his eyes slip closed again.
////
Castiel goes into the kitchen and grabs a washcloth running it under cold water in the sink.
"How bad is it?" Sam's voice behind him.
"It's a very high fever. Around 105 so I'm going to keep an eye on him and keep a cold washcloth with an ice pack on his head and hopefully that'll help lower it."
Cas says glancing at Sam before grabbing an ice pack from the freezer.
"Has he been sick like this all week? I thought it was just a small cold." Sam says.
"He must have been playing it down so we wouldn't worry." Cas says turning back around to look at Sam.
"Knowing him, probably." Sam says with a sigh. "Well keep me updated, yeah?"
"Of course." Cas says and heads back to Dean's room.
When he gets there he softly closes the door behind him and walks towards the bed. He carefully sits next to Dean's sleeping body and gently sets the ice pack with the washcloth wrapped around it on Dean's forehead.
A soft smile appears on Dean's face which makes Castiel smile too.
"Heya, Cas." Dean's rough voice says as he opens his eyes to see Cas sitting next to him.
"Hello, Dean." Cas says. "It's alright you can go back to sleep. I'll watch over you."
"I don't wanna." Dean whines. "I wanna look at my pretty angel and watch a movie. I don't even care if it's a rom com, I'm sick so I have an excuse."
"Okay fine. But promise me you'll relax?" Cas says after a minute of trying to process the pretty angel comment.
"Course, sweetheart." Dean says and slides down further down the bed cuddling into Cas after he puts on at Dean's request, mind you, Frozen.
Cas watches Dean the entire time.
Watches his beloved human watch and enjoy a movie about two sisters struggling, watches him sing a couple of the songs with a grin. And in a way now that Castiel thinks about it the sisters remind him of Dean and Sam in a way. The sisters obviously didn't go through nearly as much as Dean and Sam but there's similarities there.
Dean looks at him halfway through the movie with a smile.
"Whatcha looking at?" Dean asks.
"You." Cas just says.
"Shut up." Dean says but he's blushing so Castiel knows he likes it. Dean goes back to watching the movie and Cas continues to split his attention between it and Dean.
Dean ends up falling back asleep towards the end of it so Cas turns the movie off.
Grabs the ice pack and washcloth from the night stand and gets up to take them back to the laundry room and kitchen. Heading back to the room he stops by Sam's for a second telling him how Dean's doing. As he walks back into the room, he quietly shuts the door and slips back in the bed, careful not to wake Dean. Cas kisses his beloved human on the forehead and watches over the man he loves.
////
Dean wakes up to the feeling of wanting to puke and feeling extremely hot. But that doesn't compare to what he sees when he wakes. The sight of Cas, eyes closed, hair in his face is a beautiful sight to see and god does Dean love him.
But he still needs to puke which wouldn't bode well for either of them if he threw up on his bed.
"Cas get up." Dean says, trying to keep it down.
"Hm?" Cas just hums, opening his eyes and looking blearily at Dean. Which Dean does find adorable but now is not the time for that.
"Cas, sweetheart I'm going to puke get up and move. Please." Dean says.
Cas gets up quickly and Dean scrambles off the bed and rushes to the bathroom. A few minutes later he's sitting by the side of the toilet after puking most of everything he ate the day before.
"Dean? You okay?" Cas's voice from the doorway.
"Fine." Dean mutters. Which he knows Cas very obviously won't buy. "Fuck, no not really." He groans looking at Cas.
Before he can say anything else, Cas steps up to him and feels at his forehead. He pulls back and looks at Dean with an apologetic frown. He then pulls the thermometer from the cupboard. He puts in Dean's mouth again under his tongue and Dean waits for it to beep, feeling beyond miserable on the bathroom floor.
To make matters worse Sam comes into the bathroom heading for one of the stalls when he notices Dean and Cas there.
"Dean? You okay?" He asks before turning back to Cas. "Cas is he okay?"
"M'fine." Dean roughly says. "Just woke up and had to puke."
"Mhm." Sam says. "Cas?"
"Sammy, I said I'm fine." Dean says.
"Yeah uh huh I'm letting Cas be the judge of that." Sam says which earns him a glare from Dean.
"Fever is higher than it was yesterday." Cas says and looks back to Dean and mock glares back at him and teasingly sticks his tongue out.
"Can you guys be anymore obvious?" Sam asks with a laugh before heading into one of the stalls like he planned.
Instead of saying anything Cas helps Dean back up and Dean sags into his angel feeling so exhausted. Fuck he hates being sick.
"Let's get you back to bed." Cas softly says, guiding Dean back to his room.
"I don't deserve you." Dean mumbles quietly once they're back in his bed.
"What?" Cas asks bewildered.
"I don't deserve you." He says again and looks at Cas with such sincerity. "You deserve so much better than me, how can you love such a weak puny human like me? You could've had everything in heaven, could've been a full angel in heaven again and helped Jack make it better but you decided not to. You decided to stay with me and I don't deserve that. You're too good for me, sweetheart, why'd you do it?"
"Oh Dean." Cas whispers and he starts running his hands through Dean's hair softly.
"I did for you, I did everything for you, remember? I did it because I love you and want to be with you. I miss Jack too of course but he always comes to visit and we can see him whenever. Being with you makes me happy, happier than I could have ever thought I could be. If you'd have told me twelve years ago that we'd be together now and that I'd be human, I wouldn't have believed it. Even though I loved you from the first glimpse of your soul I wouldn't have believed it. Because how could I end up with the most beautiful human I ever laid eyes on? Inside and out. My love, you are everything to me and nothing could ever change that. Do you understand me?"
"But why me? I've treated you like shit, said shit to you that you didn't deserve. I kicked you out when you were human. How could you love me after all that?" Dean asks and oh fuck he's crying. He was so not planning on crying today but whatever.
"Dean, look at me beloved. Come here please." Cas says and Dean sits up and turns around to look at his angel again.
"You never meant any of that stuff okay? I know you know that. You kicked me out because you had to. You just wanted to keep Sam safe."
"That's not an excuse though, Cas." Dean cries. "I should've tried harder, gotten you a place to stay or something. Baby, I shouldn't have just assumed you'd be alright-"
"It's all in the past, darling. That stuff doesn't matter anymore, what matters right now is me taking care of you because you're sick. Please just let me take care of you." Cas says before kissing his forehead.
And Dean cuddles right back into Cas and pretty much just cries himself to sleep.
////
A few days later finds Dean on the tail end of all that. It turned out to be a mix of the flu and something else Dean doesn't care about trying to remember. Apparently last night was the worst night, except Dean doesn't really remember it. He was too out of his mind miserable to know what was going on.
"Wait okay what exactly did I even do yesterday?" Dean asks Sam in the kitchen waiting for the coffee to be done.
Sam laughs and Dean turns to glare at him. "I don't even know, you were out of it dude. I think you were sleepwalking? I know you did that for a bit when we were younger, I don't know what got it to stop but yeah. You were saying random shit that I don't even remember, I was too exhausted. Cas was trying to get you back to bed and you start like fucking giggling deliriously."
"The fuck? No, tell me you're lying." Dean scoffs, finally sitting down at the table once the coffee is done and he gets a cup.
"He's not, unfortunately for you." Cas says as he comes into the kitchen too. And Dean wouldn't say that he was drooling over Cas in Dean's clothes (figuratively of course) but from Sam's expression that is exactly what's going on.
"I don't remember it so I say it didn't happen." Dean grumbles and takes a sip of his coffee.
Cas sits next to him and Dean leans into him, he still feels tired but not nearly as exhausted as he's felt the past week. Cas puts an arm around him and Dean presses further in and closes his eyes and smiles when he feels Cas kiss his forehead.
"God you guys are disgustingly cute." Sam says and Dean opens one eye to see him grinning at them.
"Shut up." Dean says blushing a deep red that he'd never actually admit to but fuck it he's allowed. He's sick and he wasted twelve years with Cas so he can be as clingy as he damn well pleases. "Like you have any room to talk too."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Sam asks.
"Dude you and Eileen? Definition of disgustingly cute." Dean says with a laugh.
"At least me and her didn't wait twelve years to figure our shit out." Sam says.
"Okay fine you got us there." Dean says.
"But to be fair I didn't know he could feel that way and I was having a sexuality crisis and working through what dad did every time he even suspected I had a thing for men."
"Dean, I'm so sorry." Sam starts to say before Dean interrupts him.
"What for? Sammy you were a kid and I didn't want you seeing the shit he put me through. You still don't know half the shit I had to do to keep us fed and there is no way in hell I'm ever telling you. I've worked through my shit - still am - but I know none of it was my fault either. So please don't feel sorry for something you would never have been able to control." Dean says getting up and in front of Sam putting his hand on his shoulder and looking him in the eyes.
"Okay." Sam mumbles and nods his head. Which leads to Dean pulling his little brother into him giving him a tight hug that they both know they've needed for a while.
Eventually they both pull away and Dean goes back to sitting next to Cas and Sam goes off to his room saying that he's going to spend a couple days at Eileen's.
And Dean can't help but think that it's probably because he's not sick anymore and knows what Dean wants to do.
Dean turns to Cas with a grin and Cas gives an eyebrow raise with a laugh as Dean goes to kiss his lips and then decides on the cheek instead. Dean shrugs looking at his angel with a wide ass grin, god he loves Cas so fucking much. Cas decides to grab Dean's chin and pulls him in for a long slow kiss.
Eventually they pull away and Cas gives the most smug, shit eating grin that Dean's ever seen.
"I love you so much." Dean says climbing into Cas's lap and goes back in for another kiss which is blissfully accepted by Cas.
Dean starts running his hands under Cas's shirt and Cas puts his hands in Dean's hair and fucking pulls.
Dean lets out a surprised little groan opening his mouth a little. Which gives Cas the perfect opportunity to stick his tongue in Dean's mouth. Dean goes to take Cas's shirt off when he hears a scuffle and a "fuck!"
Dean turns his head to find Sam scrambling out of the room so fast he almost trips.
"Sorry Sammy!" Dean yells out laughing. He gets up off of Cas and finds Sam in the map room shaking his head and muttering something.
"If you're gonna do that do it in your fucking room. Not the kitchen!" Sam says which causes Dean to go into another laughing fit.
"Dean, you have to quit trying to traumatize your brother." Cas says but when Dean turns to him he's smiling too. Not as big as Dean of course but still. "I'm sorry Sam."
"No you're not." Dean smirks. "It's a good thing you're going to Eileen's then. I'm sure you'll love the break from worrying about me now that I'm not bedridden sick."
"Yeah, sure." Sam laughs. "But I'll be going now. I don't want to traumatize my eyes more."
And Sam leaves, heading up the stairs and out the door. Dean can't help but laugh again before turning back to Cas and pushing him up against the map table and kissing him.
Before he knows it, Cas is turning them around and pushing Dean onto the table breaking their kiss and starts kissing down his neck and stomach. One of my hands comes up and plays with one of Dean's nipples and Dean lets out a breathy moan. Cas does it again harder and Dean let's out another loud moan.
"Bedroom, sweetheart. Now." Dean gasps out when Cas's other hand finds its way to Dean's clothed growing erection.
Somehow they make it to his room and Cas pushes Dean back into the bed.
He slowly fucking strip teases Dean and Dean can feel his dick press up against his jeans uncomfortably. Once Cas is fully undressed he climbs back into the bed and kisses Dean again, hard but slow and grinds up against Dean's still clothed dick.
Dean groans and lifts his hips up and gasps when it hits just right.
Cas pulls away and finally lets Dean pull his jeans and boxers off.
They kiss again and grind into each other finding some fucking awesome friction and they both moan into each other's mouths. One of them eventually finds the lube and Cas is putting some on the fingers and gently pushing one in Dean. Dean groans at the pressure and then feels blissed out once Cas starts moving his finger in and out, adding a second then a third and Dean is moaning his little heart out and his hands on Cas's back end up digging into his shoulders.
Just as Dean is close to coming, Cas stops and takes his fingers out.
Dean whines out at that but Cas just shushes him. He puts some lube on his own dick and very slowly presses into Dean and Dean rolls his hips up which presses Cas in more, moaning at the pressure. Cas starts moving in and out slowly and it feels oh so good.
"Faster baby, please." Dean whines out as Cas continues slowly.
And that's what he does, he moves in and out and at one point Dean starts stroking himself at the same pace as Cas is moving inside him, letting out loud moans. Cas is grunting and moaning too but obviously being quieter about it. And Dean can only think he's doing that because he always likes the noises Dean makes.
Eventually they end up coming at the same time, which Dean never would have thought possible to happen but my god is it blissful as all hell. Dean lays there for a few minutes feeling lovesick and gives a lazy grin to his angel.
They get cleaned up and put just their boxers back on. Dean pushes himself into the heat of Cas's arms and Cas starts running a hand up and down one of Dean's again.
"Hey Cas?" Dean asks, looking up at the beautiful angel that he's wrapped so warmly against.
"Hm?" Cas hums, opening his eyes slightly and looking back to Dean.
"I- okay so not that that wasn't amazing you know but I have something even better." Dean says sitting up and grinning at his angel.
"Oh? Do you now?" Cas asks, raising an eyebrow in amusement.
"I do indeed." Dean says still grinning but it wavers a little out of nervousness. He gets up off the bed and opens his nightstand drawer and pulls out the ring he's been working up the nerve to pull out to propose to Cas.
Hiding it slightly from Cas though because he still does want to do this right. "Okay, get up but close your eyes once you are."
"Okay?" Cas says questioningly but he does it anyway. Dean turns and Cas does in fact have his eyes closed.
Dean carefully gets on one knee and lets out a nervous breath. Opens the ring box and gives a smile.
"Okay Cas, you can open your eyes now." Dean says and his voice sounds shaky even to himself but fuck it he's nervous.
Cas opens his eyes and looks at Dean in confusion before looking down at his hands and realization shows on Cas's face with a gummy smile.
"Okay so I wasn't necessarily planning to do it right now, I was trying to figure out the right time for a couple months. But then I thought - when has there ever been a right moment with us? We're not necessarily the most perfect or well adjusted couple around after all. So I figured now would be perfect, I don't need a big crowd to see how much I love you, to see me on my knees in front of you bearing my heart and soul to you. I don't even need a real wedding, sweetheart I just want to be with you. I want to spend my life with you, I want to get old and gray and grumpy with you. I want to adopt kids with you, I want to watch Claire and Kaia get married and have kids if they want. I want Jack to be able to step down from being god and just be a kid. The kind of kid he never got to be.
"I want to die old and gray, get out of hunting and just live out our lives with you and then end up in heaven for all of eternity, I want everything with you and only you. So, marry me?" Dean looks to Cas with glistening eyes and he quickly wipes a tear away.
"Yes. Yes Dean of course I'll marry you." Cas says and grins even though it's a little wobbly because he's crying but God he's a beautiful crier. He helps Dean get up and Dean slips the ring on Cas's finger and they kiss and fall back onto the bed, laughing and feeling like teenagers.
"Fuck I love you so much." Dean says kissing Cas one more time before pulling slightly away to look at his angel in front of him.
"And I you." Cas says smiling and Dean brings himself closer and cuddles into Cas.
As Dean eventually finds himself falling asleep next to his now fiance - which Dean feels giddy even thinking about - he feels
Cas kiss his forehead.
And says something in which Dean can only assume is Enochian.
////
A few months later on the thirteenth anniversary since Cas pulled Dean out of hell finds Dean nervously pacing around in the room where he's getting ready for the wedding. A knock at the door stops him and he turns to find Sam in the doorway.
"Dean you okay?" Sam asks with his arms crossed and a smile on his face.
"Yeah, good. Just- nervous, Sammy I'm actually getting married. Who would've thought that possible? I never tried to think it was in the cards for me, you yes but me? It just wasn't possible." Dean says looking at his proud little brother.
"Dean it always was possible for you, it was in the cards for you. You were just too scared to accept it and I get why, you couldn't let yourself get attached to anyone. I was the same, remember? Do you remember how long it took me to actually ask Eileen out? How long it took me to realize that what happened to Jess or to Sarah or even Amelia wasn't going to happen to her? It was you who got it through my head, you told me to give her a chance because she possibly wouldn't have waited longer but we both know she did. You're the reason she and I are even together right now, you are the reason for literally everything, Dean. I wouldn't be standing here talking to you at your almost wedding if you hadn't made that deal. If you hadn't done half the shit you did for me I wouldn't have her in my life. And I am so grateful for you." Sam says smiling.
"Sam-" Dean chokes and walks up to his brother into a hug so tight that is probably squeezing him a little too much. But screw him, his baby brother just said something that made him cry. "I don't even know what to say to that."
"You don't have to say anything. Just know that I mean all of that and more." Sam says but it's muffled by his head on Dean's shoulder. It seems like they both needed this hug.
Eventually they both pull away and slap each other's backs smiling at each other. Dean's is a shaky, nervous but giddy one and Sam's is full of genuine pride for Dean.
"If it makes you feel any better, Eileen says Cas is nervous too." Sam says.
"Actually it kinda does, makes me feel like I'm not nervous for nothing. Which to be fair for him totally makes sense, he's an ex angel of the lord marrying the human he fell from heaven for. I don't think either of us would have thought any of this possible." Dean says sitting down on the couch in the room.
Sam barks out a laugh at that and nods his head. "Yeah imagine telling your past emotionally constipated self you're marrying the angel who pulled you out of hell. Telling past mr. humans make no sense Cas that he fell in love with the Righteous man, the Micheal sword, etc. It's just crazy to think about. Telling blood crazed past me that he doesn't have to do that anymore? It's something to wish for honestly."
"Yeah you're right. What I wouldn't give to go back and fix our relationship and not let it get so fucked up. Sammy throwing that necklace away? Big mistake on my part and I'm so sorry about that. I'm sorry about a lot of things but we can't dwell too much on those." Dean says getting back up off the couch. "Anyways it's almost time holy shit."
"And you're ready for this? Like absolutely ready?" Sam asks.
"Yeah, Sammy. I am, I really am." Dean says, giving his brother another giddy grin.
"Well let's head down there then, Jody's waiting and I know Cas is ready to marry you." Sam says grinning back and they head down. They get themselves situated for Dean to walk down the aisle. They'd decided Dean would walk down the aisle and Cas would wait at the altar.
Or well Cas and Sam decided that, Dean went along with it after some pushing. But it turned out to be the right choice for both of them. Now Jody gets to walk Dean down the aisle and Dean can't help but feel extremely emotional about that.
"Alright let's do this." He says linking arms with Jody. His surrogate mom smiles at him and they slowly start walking after Jack. They ended up giving Jack the flower girl role - he wanted it - after he came back. Jack had given his God power off to Amara after fixing heaven, he reverted back to a normal looking four year old and they've been taking care of Jack ever since.
The moment he sees Cas feels like a breath of fresh air.
He hadn't seen the past couple days getting ready for this - everyone was buying into the no-seeing-fiance-before-wedding thing and wouldn't let him see Cas.
His suit is a dark navy blue, almost black and it fits Cas so well and matches his eyes so perfectly.
As soon as Dean gets to the altar he takes Cas's hands and doesn't look away from his eyes.
He distantly hears Garth talking - they decided to have him as their officiant.
Everything feels underwater standing in front of the love of his life like this.
He still can't believe that he gets to do this.
But now is not the time for that. Now's the time to say his vows to his angel that literally changed his life.
"Thirteen years ago today we met, I was just some random guy who sacrificed himself for his baby brother and you- you were this big scary ass angel. Little did I know how much you were going to change my life. Little did I know how much fun it'd be to teach you human things. We have had our ups and our downs and we've betrayed each other too many goddamn times to count. But we've gotten through that, we made it.
"When you said you loved me and the Empty took you I was a mess, you can even ask Sam that. I literally thought I was going to die. Almost did until Sam got Jack to come down and save me. I didn't want to live without you, I never did. I don't think I ever could again, you are the love of my entire life and I can't do life without you. So Cas I do. I really fucking do." And Dean slips the ring onto Cas's finger.
His mom's ring he had tried to give back to her when she came back, but she wouldn't take it, said to give it to Cas when the time came.
She knew even only seeing them for five minutes when she came back how he felt about Cas. God what he wouldn't give to have her here right now.
Now Cas starts saying his and looking Dean so lovingly in his eyes.
"When we met you were just a mission for me, just the Michael sword. Thought that I could just do my one job and that would be it and I'd be back to heaven after rescuing you. But from the moment I glimpsed your soul in hell I was done for. Your soul was and still is the most beautiful soul I had ever laid eyes on, I knew I was in love. Of course I didn't exactly know that, I still didn't know what love was in the human perspective at least. I didn't think it was possible for an angel like me to even have emotions and you changed that. Of course, sure I already loved humanity and saw the beauty in it, went against heaven a few times before you. But it didn't feel like it did betraying everything I knew for you. You taught me that I didn't need to have to be that stony angel, you taught me to love and that taught me to know what love from a child by Claire and Jack felt like."
"You taught me everything I know now and I couldn't ask for a better man to marry. So I do too, always. I want to spend forever with you." Cas then puts the other ring on Dean's finger and holy shit he feels beyond giddy. He seriously can't believe this is happening.
They don't even wait to be told to kiss, they step into each other's space feeling closer than ever, grabbing onto each other's faces and kiss. Dean smiles into the kiss and he can feel Cas start to smile too which kinda breaks the kiss and they give little laughs and grip onto each other's hands.
At the reception Dean and Cas are leaning into each other and watching Claire play around with Jack. At first they were worried how Claire was going to take to him but it turned that was a dumb worry because she took to him like a fish on a hook and has had him wrapped around her finger the past few months. And vice versa.
"Look at him waddling around her." Dean lets out a laugh pointing to Jack now running around Claire and giving her a run for her money.
Cas doesn't say anything except grin and squeeze Dean's hand, this is absolutely everything both of them have ever wanted to have.
"Is Jack chasing Claire?" Comes Sam's voice from behind them as he walks up, hand in hand with Eileen.
"Yeah." Dean says grinning as his brother sits on the other side of him to watch his kids. "Hey did Krissy meet Claire? Or has she been with her people the whole time?"
"I think so, I thought I saw them talking a while ago before Jack dragged her off. They seemed to be getting along." Sam says.
"They sized each other up though before talking. Don't forget that." Eileen says.
"I mean they're exactly alike so I wouldn't blame them." Dean says shrugging.
"Okay yeah, you're right." Sam says. They then all get quiet and continue to watch Jack run around a laughing Claire and Kaia joins in the mix and they all chase after each other.
Eventually Jack seems to get tired of that and he runs up to Cas and Dean.
"Papa!" Jack says and Cas picks him up and Jack cuddles into his shoulder.
"Hi there. Did you wear yourself out?" Cas asks, smiling down at his son.
Jack doesn't say anything, just yawns, rubs his eyes and nods tiredly.
"Well he was chasing me around for almost two hours. That kid has energy." Claire says.
"He had energy for days even before he reverted back. Kid could go days without getting tired." Dean says grinning again as Jack looks up sleepily at him. Jack grabs Dean's hand in his little one and holds onto it and cuddles right back into Cas's shoulder.
"Even when he had no energy he'd stay up just to keep me company because I didn't sleep." Cas says. "He'd insist he wasn't tired, eventually I'd get him to go to bed but that never stopped him."
"Well I mean he is half angel so not sleeping half the time and having energy is probably a normal thing for him." Sam says.
They end up talking about whatever for another hour before Dean and Cas get up to head to Sam's car with Jack in Cas's arms. Jack is staying with Sam and Eileen for a couple weeks while Dean and Cas go on their honeymoon.
"Have fun." Sam says once they all get to the car.
"For sure." Dean says grinning after he puts Jack in his car seat in the back of Sam's car. "Lots of it."
"Oh god Dean don't start that." Sam says, giving him one of his many bitch faces. Dean just grins wider at him but before he can do anything else, Eileen smacks him upside the head.
"Hey! What was that for?!" He asks, turning to her. She doesn't say anything but shrugs with a grin.
"In all fairness, Sam did set himself up for that." Claire says shrugging.
"Exactly! He gave me the opportunity!" Dean says grinning again.
"Okay fine." Eileen grins rolling her eyes. "You better go before you guys miss your flight."
And that's exactly what they do, they say goodbye to everyone and head to the Impala. Dean gets in the driver's seat, Cas in the passenger and they hold each other's hands - rings clinking as they do so.
And off they go to the airport.
////
After a long stressful flight of Dean squeezing Cas's hand so tight, they arrive in Paris. They had decided to go there after struggling so much to find a place to go to.
So Paris it was.
They grab their rental car to drive while they're there. Which feels weird not to be driving Baby right now.
"Woah." Dean gasps out when they get to the hotel apocalypse Charlie helped get with her hacking skills. "Never thought a hotel could be like this."
"It's one of many fancy hotels." Cas smiles and shrugs. "We are in Paris too, Dean."
Dean rolls his eyes and kisses Cas.
"Okay yeah but still." Dean says with a smile as he pulls slightly away from Cas.
As they walk into the hotel Dean is impressed even more. This is the most extravagant hotel he's ever seen and been in.
They talk about anything and everything as they walk to their room after grabbing their key. When they get there Dean immediately jumps onto the queen size bed in the room and lays back.
"Oh my god this feels like heaven." Dean sighs out and looks at Cas with a lazy grin.
Cas just rolls his eyes and puts his own suitcases by the bed before climbing onto it next to Dean.
As if controlled by a magnet they gravitate towards each other again and find themselves kissing.
Soon enough they find themselves pulling each other's shirts off. Desperate for skin to skin touch.
Cas eventually reaches down by Dean's pants and starts unzipping them and puts a hand into Dean's boxers. Dean gasps out a moan as Cas grips his dick after pulling down Dean's jeans a little more.
They both end up both taking each other's jeans and boxers off even more - which end up on the floor. They both wrap a hand around each other's dicks, hands pacing the same rhythm. They eventually come at the same time in breathless moans, kissing each other again.
But that doesn't stop Cas.
Oh no, cause he has stamina for days.
Cas fucking slides down the bed further, takes ahold of Dean's dick again and pops his mouth on it. And oh god, is he talented with that goddamn mouth and tongue.
He basically fucking deep throats it and swirls his tongue around the head which is heaven in Dean's opinion. Eventually Dean comes again on more breathless moans and Cas swallows it all. Dean doesn't know how that could taste good to him but to each their own he guesses.
Soon enough it's Dean's turn to rock Cas's world and he does his best to do everything Cas did for him. Does his best to make his angel feel good.
After a while they clean themselves up and wrap themselves around each other again.
Dean looks at his husband - which again makes him giddy to think about - with a blissed out, lazy grin.
"God you're beautiful." Dean says looking into Cas's bright blue eyes. He still can't believe he actually gets to have this.
Cas smiles and even blushes a deep red.
"As are you, my love." He says and grabs one of Dean's hands clasping them together. "Even if I can't see your soul anymore, I know it's the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. You are so beautiful inside and out beloved."
"Shuddup." Dean says finding himself the one blushing now.
Instead of saying anything Cas just presses a soft kiss on Dean's lips and that says more than words could ever say. Expresses their love more than just words ever could.
More than those three little words could ever convey.
Dean understands now why Dean's worst moment with Cas dying was Cas's happiest. Finally letting out what he's wanted to say for years but held back. Saying everything he forced him not to say so he wouldn't activate the empty deal. Understands the happiness Cas felt and why he smiled when the empty took him.
Everything.
He understands everything now.
"Dean? Are you okay?" Cas asks and it isn't until Cas wipes at his eyes that Dean realizes he was crying.
"Yeah, yeah I'm okay sweetheart." Dean whispers. "It's alright."
"Then why are you crying?" Cas asks and lifts Dean's chin when he tries to shake his head and look away. "Talk to me, love."
"Sweetheart I promise you, it's really nothing." Dean says.
"You wouldn't be crying if it was nothing." Cas points out.
"Okay fine." Dean rolls his eyes and gives a half smile. "I just- I love you so fucking much Cas. And I can't believe I get to have this, never thought I'd even make it this far. I thought I'd end up dying on a hunt and that'd be my end. I didn't think I'd be able to get married, let alone to an angel. The angel who literally has saved my life time and time again. Cas, baby I just- I am genuinely so thankful for you, thank you for making my life so much better."
"Oh, Dean." Cas softly says and traces a finger down his cheek. "The same goes for you, my love. I'm also sorry."
And that was not something Dean expected to hear, Cas should not be the one feeling sorry. If anything, Dean is the one who should apologize, for a lot of things.
"Sorry? What for? You have nothing to apologize for, if you're gonna mention betraying me, or beating my ass or something like that? Don't. Because none of that was your fault, you did what you had to do. And beating my ass in the crypt? Cas you were being controlled, so in no way was that your fault okay? Do you understand me?" Dean says keeping Cas's eyes in his sight line. "If anything I'm the one who should be sorry, sweetheart."
"But half of what you went through wouldn't have happened if I just left it alone. Save you and leave." Cas whispers.
"And what? Be an angel who doesn't care? Someone who doesn't care if the apocalypse happened or not?" Dean asks. "And not fall in love with me? Not let me fall in love with you?"
"No, falling in love with you was the best part of my existence, I just wish we didn't have to go through most of the things we went through to get here." Cas says and looks back to Dean.
"That'd be nice but if we hadn't gone through any of that, we probably wouldn't be sitting here having this conversation. I didn't like that we had to go through that but I wouldn't change a thing. If it meant not having you or Sam not having Eileen? I wouldn't want that. You are the best thing that's ever happened and I'm gonna show that for as long as I live. I will make up for the years of treating you like shit, you didn't deserve any of that. I'll make it all worth it, I promise sweetheart." Dean says and then presses another soft kiss to Cas's lips.
"Okay." Cas smiles and they continue kissing before they lay back down. "I love you."
"I love you too. So fucking much, sweetheart." Dean whispers.
Eyes heavy and lovesick, Dean finds himself falling asleep.
As he falls asleep he thinks about spending the rest of his life with Cas.
His angel.
His husband.
His everything.
He thinks about forever with the love of his life.
The End.
