Work Header

Yes, Sir.

Summary:

“You’re leaving us?” Kaidan asked, mirroring Garrus’ shock though in a far more measured way. “Alone?”

“Yup.” Shepard popped the last letter and paused long enough to give them a wink before she headed for the door. “I’d rather talk to Javik than sit here and watch you two prevaricate about fucking.”

_______________________________________

Tired of watching Kaidan and Garrus fumble around their sensibilities and insecurities, Shepard leaves them to just get on with it. Thankfully, that's just what they needed.

Notes:

So this exists now, thanks to my legendarily weak self-control.
I've had a lot on but will be returning to form and Project Sunseeker soon enough.

A massive thanks to Elle_Weird for looking this over in the dark hours of the morning to confirm that it made sense!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“I don’t suppose I should ask if you know what you’re doing, should I?” He was stalling, that much was obvious.

“With a Turian? Hell no.” Kaidan chuckled, pausing with half the buttons on his dress shirt undone. “But you haven’t sent Shep running for the hills yet so it can’t be that weird.”

“Brave… But what if she’s just into weird stuff?”

She had to find a way put them out if their misery, before Garrus found a way to talk himself completely out of this. Whilst she’d been content to let them slowly figure whatever… this… was out in their own time without her interfering, Shepard also knew both of her boys well enough to recognise when they were losing focus.

“You know you could have both looked at the homework I sent you.”

Twin guilty expressions as they both remembered she was there - and whether referring to sending two physical copies of fornax’s euphemistically and horrifically named “relay 314 anniversary edition” (that she’d had to buy in-person from a suspiciously smug looking batarian vendor on Omega, much to her mortification) as homework was going to ruin the mood, well, fuck it.

“Well - I - you know I had a lot of work to do…” Garrus spluttered, mandibles flaring in embarrassment.

Kaidan, to his credit, didn’t even attempt to make excuses. “Trouble, I love you but, seriously, Fornax? There have to be better educational resources out there.”

“Ah, yeah, you see, I was just trying to not get the mhpfs-” Shepard didn’t hesitate to reach forwards and put a hand over Garrus’ mouth before he could ruin things anymore.

“Garrus, you’re going to be quiet.” She turned his head so he had to look up at her, waiting for a sign of confirmation that he’d understood the order, and then pressed on. “No more overthinking, please.”

As soon as his mandibles flickered against his jaw and he rumbled something suspiciously like ‘yes ma’am’ against her hand, she turned her focus instead on Kaidan, who’d decided to lounge back against the headboard, hazel eyes full of amusement at watching Garrus be handled such.

“And you.” A quirked eyebrow from him and she leaned across, pressing a firm but brief kiss to his lips without letting go of Garrus. “Behave yourself.”

“No promises.” He answered as she pulled away from both and slipped off the bed.

“I mean it.” She gave them both her best commanding stare, grabbing the only piece of clothing she’d gotten to divest before they got so hopelessly derailed from the back of the desk chair. “I’ve got rounds to do. I’ll see you both later.”

Garrus’ eyes widened in surprise, or maybe panic, but he was obedient as ever and held his tongue.

“Harsh, trouble.” He put a hand to his heart in jest. “You’d really rather-”

“Being bored and horny around him will be less painfully awkward than this, yes.” The doors slid open and, for a moment, she looked back at them and grinned. “Call me back when you’ve figured this out.”

The doors slid closed with a solid click.

The two men eyed each other warily.

It wasn’t the logistics that had them both circling the next step so cautiously - despite what Shepard might think, they both had a fairly good idea what hardware to expect -, but more the implications. There was no coming back from this, after all.

Memories surfaced easily as they made eye contact.

The burning taste of batarian vodka that likely doubled as paint stripper mingling with the deeper, richer taste that might have been any number of dextro safe drinks, or just the taste of a turians tongue. Frantically scrabbling hands, alien clothing pushed and pulled aside with marked unfamiliarity and combined heavy, desperate breathing as they’d stroked each other to completion in a dingy back alley of Hephaestus station.

At the time, they’d both been hurting so damn much from loss that it had been easy to brush it off as an isolated incident, as two people desperate for contact.

Once was a one-off.

A second time, stone cold sober and sound of mind, was something completely different.

“I’ll walk away, if that’s what you want.” Garrus’ expression was forcedly thoughtful, as if by schooling his features to the disinterested arrogance that suited most Turians so well, he could hide the tremor in his voice.

Kaidan weighed the offer and almost instantly decided that it was repugnant to even consider. Garrus deserved better than that.

He’d actually gone looking for Garrus once he’d nursed away his hangover and contemplated the night’s events but the turian had apparently departed on the red-eye flight to Omega.
If he had found him, well, he’d made up his mind then.

What did two years and the resurrection of someone they both also happened to love have to do with his decision?

“I thought you were told to be quiet.” He said, and grabbed the edge of his cowl to pull him close enough to kiss.

Turians weren’t really built for kissing, but Garrus was an enthusiastic participant and, better yet, seemed to have accrued some more experience since they’d last ended up like this.
A strong tongue slid into his mouth, alien in proportion and taste but definitely enjoyable.

Kaidan couldn’t help but hum in enjoyment, his mind wandering to other ways that tongue could be put to good use.

As if privy to his thoughts, the turian pulled away to take a shuddering breath and then ducked his head to nuzzle into Kaidan’s collarbone. It was only then, as the faintest scrape of cloth-covered claws ran down the sensitive skin of his pec that it occurred to him that regardless of how dexterous and cautious the turian was, those claws were unlikely to be much fun to have in his ass.

But shit, Kaidan also knew exactly what he wanted from him.

He pushed Garrus away from him sideways and, with more confidence than he thought he was feeling in the moment, he straddled him and spread his hands on the hot, rough surface of his chest.

It was a distinctly alien sensation that his mind wouldn’t quite accept was someone’s chest but the tough plates were more yielding than he’d assumed they would be; though of course they had to be if turians were ever to bend forwards.

“Logistical question.” He broached, marvelling at a deep thrum that resonates through his bed partner as Kaidan’s hands dipped lower, finding the divots were pieces of plate met and adventuring ever closer to the buckled waistband of his trousers. “How do turians prepare?”

“Prepare for what?” A glance up revealed Garrus’ eyes clouded and mandibles left wide with lust.

He cocked his head to one side, fingers fiddling uselessly with the illogical buckle situation as he waited for him to get it.

A heartbeat and-

“Oh.” A dull flush of deep sapphire was now visible in the scarred, ruined mandible on his right hand side, curious. “We, well… male partners usually use their, ah, tongues.”

And fuck did that make Kaidan’s cock twitch in his pants.

“I had assumed you’d rather, you know…” the turian continued, as if he couldn’t stop himself now he’d been unintentionally given permission to speak once more. “Which I am comfortable with if you wouldn’t - well, I know not all humans like-”

Kaidan shut him up with another kiss, rutting against his wiry leg in enthusiastic assent. He didn’t need words to convey his keenness for it.

The thrum from deep in his chest suggested that he was getting better about needing things spelled out for him at long last too.

Finally, lust-clumsy fingers found the solution to the the buckle and, emboldened more by how Garrus’ breath seemed to catch at his forwards-ness, Kaidan didn’t hesitate to tug on the frustrating fabric.

A quirk of anatomy that he was damned thankful for in the moment, they slipped down off the hips easily and, after a moments adjusting positions between them, the turian was able to kick them off entirely.

Of course, he’d seen Garrus’ cock before, but that didn’t stop the sight of him from momentarily distracting him; a drunken fumble under the sour orange light of a holo-sign hadn’t given him a true appreciation for how simultaneously familiar and alien his hardware was.

Deep blue, he’d logically expected, but the subtle ridges in the flesh and glistening, engorged head were a pleasant surprise.

Garrus shuddered as the cabin’s cool air hit him and groaned.

Shit, for a guy who’d been doing his best to psych himself out of this, Garrus sure looked delightfully like he was already on the edge of giving in, and so Kaidan called him on it.

“Glad you didn’t walk away… you’re gorgeous.”

Mandibles flung themselves wide in frustrated embarrassment and Garrus keened. “Shut up… I need to -ah- I can’t…”

Oh… now his devotion to Shepard made sense.

Kaidan could have laughed. Garrus Vakarian, consummate bad boy with a devil-may-care attitude had a goddamn praise kink.

He could use this so to his advantage.

“Keep it together, I know you can.”

Another animalistic keen and his back arched, desperate for touch.

“No… stop. I’ll, urgh…”

He understood just fine.

Kaidan pulled away, getting up to strip off the rest of his own clothing impatiently with a wry grin he couldn’t quite school off his face.

“We can’t have that, Vakarian. You hear me?”

He hadn’t even laid a goddamn hand on him and already the turian was in pieces, hell. Another keen answered his question.

“You’re going to be good for me, Vakarian.” Kaidan made eye contact as he reached over to the nightstand where he’d left the lube in preparation. “I need you to be good and patient for me, you’re not allowed to cum until you’re inside me. Are we clear?”

An animalistic whine answered him before, focusing on his words, Garrus reached out one shaking hand for him. “Let me - ah - I want to help.”

Kaidan paused at this, weighing up his options.

On one hand, fuck did that offer sound enticing, but it also sounded like something that’d have him in just as bad a state as his turian partner in no time at all.

Unlike Garrus though, he had a fair amount of faith in his self control.

Famous last words.

Caught unawares with his deliberations, Garrus suddenly pounced with a speed and ferocity he’d not truthfully been expecting given how strung out he’d seemed milliseconds before.

Before Kaidan could react, he was face down on the bed with one firmly insistent three-fingered hand pulling his hips up and back. Taken by surprise also by his wiry strength, he just let it happen, drawing his knees up and spreading his legs eagerly.

Who needed restraint anyway?

If Kaidan had thought he was ready, well, he’d been horribly wrong.

With their roles more or less reversed, the turian was impatient. Barely had he had time to find the point where he was most comfortable before his ass cheeks were spread wide and, without any warning, a firm, hot tongue lashed against him.

He hasn’t expected this. Hadn’t expected how damned confident he’d be. Almost instantly, Kaidan’s legs felt weak and he was sure he was trembling as he fisted his hands in the sheets. Every swipe of that broad, alien tongue drove wild noises from him and it wasted no time in pressing against his asshole, then in.

First it was just the tip, but as he choked out soft, disorganised statements of assent to it, more was used. With every few thrusts, Garrus became bolder still, and before Kaidan even had time to fully process that this was so very much more than he’d fantasised it would be, the broad tongue was thrusting deep within him, stretching him open.

Lazily, as his arms nearly gave out under him, a now gloveless hand reached around his thigh and wrapped itself around his dick.

Remarkably soft and gentle, despite the razor sharp talons on the end of each finger, Garrus let him thrust against it readily.

Then, as suddenly as it had all started, the turian pulled away from him.

Instantly, his limbs failed him and he slumped to the bed, trembling.

“We good?” Garrus asked.

Bless him, he actually sounded slightly worried that he’d broken his partner.

“Shit… we’re…” Kaidan composed his thoughts, rational mind coming back now that he wasn’t being tongue-fucked into his brain melting.

He took a few deep, reassuring breaths and rolled over before sitting up.

Garrus eyed him balefully.

“I can keep going if you’d rather-"

Kaidan groaned and grabbed the lube bottle he’d lost hold of under the veritable assault before. “Shut up, Garrus.”

“Yes, Sir.”

Holy shit, he was going to be the death of him, wasn’t he?

“Sit back.” Kaidan ordered and, as Garrus complied, he took control of the situation again, grabbing his cock with one hand coated in slick lube. “You’re good, so very good, so you’ve earned this.”

The thick member shivered in his hand and, knowing neither one of them would hold out much longer - it was a miracle Garrus had made it this far in hindsight - Kaidan straddled him.

Then, he readied himself mentally as much as physically and sank down on the turian’s cock.

A delicious tightness, on the pleasurable side as opposed to being painful, as he took in as much as he could.

As he’d hoped, the ring of muscles identified every ridge on the way down, until he bottomed out.

The sounds emanating from the other were unbelievably sweet.

Less confidently than before, a hand wrapped around his dick again and Kaidan bucked into it, relishing the movement for the both of them.

As if in unconscious response, the hips below his strained upwards and, getting the message, Kaidan kept moving.

It was exhilarating, the sweet pressure inside him mingling with the feather-light touch on his own member.

“Mh- You’re so good.” A sharper thrust upwards in keen response to this, and Kaidan could feel in the pit of his stomach that he’d just about reached his limit. “Come on, Vakarian, you’ve been a smart boy for me, you can cum, i want you to-

The pooling warmth that coursed into him combined with a truly feral keen was all he needed to hit his own climax and, with a ragged cry, he found himself leaving a stripe over the other’s hand and beyond it onto the ridges of his plated chest.

Shaking like a leaf, he rode them out, putting everything he could into staying around the turian until they’d both given all they had to give. And, that done, he collapsed forwards into the hot, rough front, face buried into the softly leathery skin of the turians throat.

So spent was he that he barely noticed as the thin, scratchy comforter was pulled over them.

Well, there was definitely no turning back now.

Vaguely Kaidan remembered some basic training days gossip about turians not making for good cuddlers in the afterglow. Oh if only he remembered who it was who’d said that, so he could message them to let them know just how wrong they were.

Mercifully, Garrus was quiet and seemed content to stick close, as unbothered by how messy they were as Kaidan himself was.

So out of it they both were that it would be a fair while later before they realised that this was when the doors had opened to admit the cabin’s owner.
Shepard didn’t disturb them though, instead settling on the sofa to read through the latest reports that had downloaded as they’d passed within range of a comms buoy. They’d earned their rest.

It wasn’t the most conventional start to a relationship.

Then again, how conventional could any relationship be when it involved (the only) two human Spectres and the Turian Hierarchy’s Reaper advisor and was initiated in the death-throes of society as they all knew it?

They’d make it work, though.

And, Shepard thought as the soft rumble of Garrus’ contented breathing distracted her from the dull reports in hand, at least they’d both have someone to hold onto when the inevitable fall came to pass.

Notes:

This was meant to be mostly funny at the beginning, but Kaidan and Garrus both apparently love adding angst and the setting just demands some sad Shepard hints :D

If you spotted any inconsistencies in paragraph spacing, no you didn't <3, that's not my phone and computer disagreeing at all, though typo-policing is welcome as always!!
