Wheel Of Pride
National City’s resident Police Captain Maggie Sawyer Danvers and the agent at her six Alex Sawyer Danvers, leader of the still clandestine organization to many humans, the DEO were currently out on leave. Due to not only their injuries in the field but because of their own stubbornness that had occurred during said joint mission. There weren’t significant injuries even though Dr. Danvers wouldn't fail to remind her beautiful wife that things could have been much worse.
However the sassy retort that came was “there’s always tomorrow Dr.”.
In fact there was no tomorrow because they were given explicit instructions to stay home at least a week before they could return to their respective jobs not only by Kara, and J’onn but by each of their agency physicians. Out of the two lady ,loving ladies, Maggie was thrilled to stay home to avoid any and all of the city's Pride related formal balls and galas. Since becoming a higher ranked officer it was her duty. This year Maggie was not her usual exuberant self, she always was around this time of year..
Alex on the other hand was going to miss going with her decorated police captain wife. Somehow Alex had become comfortable enough over the years in order to accompany Maggie. The sex after Maggie wore the full dress uniform, was well…was you know?
The police captain had said it would help her in the future if she wanted to become police commissioner one day. Before she had became a Danvers she was offered a position at the DEO before J’onn retired and Alex became head of the organization. She graciously turned him down not wanting to be accused of nepotism. At this point, they were still engaged, not even married yet. If walls could talk they would say that there was a fight or so over the matter. In the end Alex better understood her wife’s career ambitions.
So here they were during Pride weekend in National City for the first time since being a couple and now as a married pair (break up, what breakup) they were missing the best part of all, the Parade.
At first there was bickering back and forth about whose fault their current predicament was. First Kara was helpless as she watched her sisters fight, while a bemused Lena looked on. Gertrude their (you pick the breed) doggo had even lost interest with the shenanigans and went to lay down. By some miracle they had gone through their DVR recordings and really had no interest in watching anymore television but Lena had a given them a recommendation.
Wheel Of Time on Amazon Prime. It was the latest show that both Kara and herself had agreed upon is a great show and had wanted more mutuals to enjoy it with.
Wheel of Time or WOT for short as fans called it, is an EPIC fantasy television show that had been released on Amazon Prime based on the book series by the same name.
“Didn’t you read those books in college during your BNL days?” Alex pointed to her wife dramatically.
“My BNL days, Alex Sawyer Danvers?
Maggie had amplified her voice across the kitchen with some irritation behind it.
After the cancellation of the ill fated Barenaked Ladies, concert, there might have been some revisionist history going on (I’ll never tell). Looks like the smol detective was still irritated after all these years.
It took awhile but just as Kara knew when they were in sync, she now knew the cues for when her and Lena, should leave.
The couple glared at each other from their positions until Kara interrupted.
“Alex, sis, Maggs, we have to go, Lena is the grand Marshall this year or did you forget.”
A limping Maggie who had badly sprained her ankle hobbled over to her wife who by now was shuffling to the door to say goodbye to her sister and her sister's girlfriend. Alex had a similar injury just on the other foot. They would tell their future children (or not)
Maggie could hear the leader of the DEO promise to check out a few episodes of WOT even though it only hads eight episodes.
‘“You know you never answered the question. Did you read the books in college?
Alex seriously wanted to know.
“I tried but it wasn’t gay enough for me but I heard the show is possibly the opposite”.
As close to her wife as she could be on what was a sprained ankle but opposite of the other. Alex tugged Maggie close.
“Well, why don't we watch an episode or so to appease our younger superpowered sister, cause now that they told us, we will never hear the end of it”.
“What’s in it for me if we do Mrs Danvers, '' Maggie teased her lover by licking her lips.
They had been cautious, so sex was not as fun as it usually was due to their injuries.
“‘Hmm, we may find a great show to share with Kara who always complains that what we watch together, she has no lingering interest in.
“How about something better like our favorite. It's been sooo long baby.”
Alex was getting turned on as her wife’s fingers touched the side of her neck. The mood permeating the place when K and L were there was forgotten and a heated kiss began in earnest.
Alex breathlessly and cautiously got them to the couch. Maggie pulled up their Prime account and before they knew it all eight episodes had been binged and their favorite on the floor next to the couch.
Maggie had exclaimed that the show was indeed better than what she had read in her so-called Barenaked Ladies days.
Alex was happy to see that Rosamund Pike was in it from that film with the actor that sometimes looks like Batman.
It was a Happy Pride indeed and after the four women agreed that they would watch together when season two premieres by hosting a watch party in each respective houses.
