MAJIMA & YUMI

“Majima-san!” Yumi-leaned in for a hug.

“Hey, Yumi-chan. Good to see ya.”

“Have you been waiting long?”

“Nah, just got here. Here, happy birthday.”

“Oh, no, you really didn’t have to!”

“Can’t well see ya on the day and not get ya something.”

“I think I can tell what this is from the shape.”

“Officially of drinking age! Finest French wine. Knock yerself out!”

“Thank you, Majima-san. Actually—” Yumi pulled something wrapped and book-shaped out of her bag, “I’d gotten you something too, but I never saw you in May.”

Majima stared before he reached. He started unwrapping, stopping halfway through, keeping his face carefully blank as Yumi asked the waiter for coffee.

“You and Kiryu-chan talk, huh?” he said trying to conceal a smile.

“Sometimes,” she grinned, clearly enjoying the reaction.

“Hmm. And how are things with you and the mama?”

“It’s really not like that. I care for Reina-san, but her heart is elsewhere. And I don’t know if it’s what I want either.”

Majima put the book half wrapped inside his jacket pocket. “Ya got time. Don’t need to have it all figured out.”

“The thing is, I’ve always wanted to have children. And the easiest way is to, well.”

Majima nodded, the faintest hint of sadness. “Life never gives ya everything, right?”

They acknowledged the waiter putting down their drinks.

“You know,” she started, looking at him kindly, “there are a lot of children in need of adoption—”

“By people who can give them homes, Yumi-chan, not guys like me who don’t know if they’ll be in the clink or the morgue tomorrow.”

The pain in Yumi’s face was hastily concealed, but not before Majima’s panic.

“Hey, ya don’t need to worry about Kiryu-chan, it’s gonna take a lot to—"

“Don’t worry, Majima-san, I know what the life is. I’m not worried about Kazuma. Or Akira.”

A smile worked hard to mask the lingering vulnerability, but Majima knew it well. He’d seen it in Kiryu’s eyes plenty of times. He couldn’t stand not being able to fix it.

“Did you— did your folks—”

“I’ve not told anyone,” she took a deep breath, “but I looked them up, recently. My parents.” The smile hadn’t faltered, but Yumi’s voice trembled. “I never knew, because I was taken to Sunflower as a baby, but I needed to. I’d been told the orphanage didn’t have records of them, but they had my birth certificate, so… I looked their names up. I found them, eventually. They’re dead. I knew they were. Deep down, I knew it.”

“I’m sorry, Yumi-chan.”

“There were pictures, in the papers. Dark grey rivers of blood, blacked out eyes. I’d always had a fear of guns. It’s a silly thing to say, everyone does, but the sound, even in movies, it disorients me, like I’m not in my own body anymore. I think I was there, when it happened. It sounds stupid, right? How could I possibly remember.”

“It don’t sound stupid.”

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to unload. I couldn’t tell anyone else. So stupid, just stupid.”

The smile was gone. Majima didn’t falter at much, but crying women was something he didn’t know how to deal with. At least, it used to be. He’d done enough crying himself the past year to realise that sometimes it didn’t need fixing. It just needed to happen.

“Why stupid?”

“I thought maybe they were… somewhere. Maybe now that I wouldn’t be a burden they wouldn’t mind knowing me, I— I’m too old for this kind of hope. I’m very lucky. Having the people I have. I never want them to think they’re not enough,” she stopped a tear escaping with the ball of her palm. “You know Yuko-chan? She’s always been like a sister to me. She’s always been there for me and despite that I though what if I had a real sister. Wouldn’t that be nice. I spent nights wondering what she’d be like. Maybe she’d be strong and assertive and— I’m so stupid. So ungrateful.”

“Yuko-chan’s back at the hospital ain’t she.”

“Yeah. She’s been in a lot lately. I think she’s getting worse.”

“And Kiryu-chan’s been spending more time with me and work. And you…” he waved a hand around, “won’t give Nishikiyama what he wants.”

“What are you getting at?”

“That you’re worried you’ll end up alone.”

“I— ”

“Listen, Kiryu-chan ain’t going anywhere. That much I can tell ya. He adores ya. And I’m here too. Kiryu-chan’s family’s my family. And you’re the one I actually like.”

“Majima-san…”

“Drop the formality already, it’s Goro.”

“Not even Kazuma calls you that!”

“Yeah, but that’s ‘cause he likes calling me something else,” Majima smirked.

Yumi laughed, eyes still wet, but pain usurped. Her heart was full of Kiryu’s happiness. Maybe one day she’d have this happiness too. If she could work out what she wanted. If she could navigate around Nishiki. If she could find a man she liked. Maybe she’d have it all.

“You gonna be alright Yumi-chan?”

“Yes. Thank you for listening. And for what you said. For what it’s worth, if you ever need anything from me, please just ask.”

“You got it.”

“You sure you won’t come out tonight?”

“Yeah, sorry about that, work thing. Been a bit crazy lately. Only got back today, not even been home yet. But you have a good time, ya hear?”

“I will,” she smiled.

KIRYU & NISHIKI

“Did you get her anything?”

“No, Majima-no-niisan was getting her something.”

“What does that have to do with it? You’re supposed to get her something. And do you seriously still call him that?”

“I don’t know what she wants.”

“God, you’re hopeless. Come on, you can get her something from the new pastry shop.”

“What did you get her?”

“Perfume.”

“Really? You knew what she likes?”

“Aren’t gay men supposed to be better at this shit?”

“I… don’t know. Are they?”

“Oh great, the queue’s around the block.”

“So lets go to another shop.”

“This one’s all the rage. Everyone wants to try it.”

“I’ve never heard of it.”

“Well, you’re not a 20-year-old girl.”

“Woman.”

“Huh?”

“20-year-old woman. And no, I guess not.”

“You know – give me a light – you know, sometimes I think you think I wish Yumi harm or something.”

“I never said that. Why would you think that? Keep it, I picked up a spare somewhere.”

“’Cause I get your back up every time I talk about her.”

“You don’t exactly treat women with respect.”

“Where the hell did this come from? Who have I not treated with respect?”

“You’re very unkind to Reina.”

“Huh? Are you tripping? I’m great friends with Reina.”

“You’re not just friends.”

“Listen Kiryu, not everything is a goddamn oath of service. Some people are happy to get what they need without the commitment. We’re adults. Reina can have out if it’s not working for her. Besides, I’m pretty sure she’s seeing other blokes.”

“And Yumi? Is she for fooling around too?”

“I’ve never lain a hand on Yumi and you goddamn know that.”

Kiryu lit a smoke to wait out the stares from the people around them. There were at least two cigarettes worth of queue left. Nishiki stabbed his own under his heel.

“So what are you planning on doing about Yumi?”

“We’re gonna have this conversation now?”

“Now’s as good a time as any.”

“I’m not planning on doing anything. She already knows how I feel. And this may come as a shock, but I don’t have to answer to you.”

“Yes, you do.”

Nishiki glared, but Kiryu had that look. He lit another cigarette and didn’t say anything.

“Fine,” Kiryu conceded. “Let me ask you this. What would you do if Yumi was seeing someone else?”

Nishiki took a drag. What would he do? Be happy for her, he supposed. Then what was this bitter taste in his mouth worse than the smoke he was inhaling. He’d always done everything for Yumi. Never missed a birthday, never made advances, always told her how beautiful she looked. He’d gotten her the job at Serena, he’d found her flat for her. He always wanted what was best for her. He loved her. There was no point denying this to himself. Sure, he fooled around, but this was different. They’d grown up together. They had a bond. And he could provide. He had a good position. He was ambitious. Why did she not want him.

“Congratulate her.”

“Are you sure about that?”

“If I can put up with your boyfriend, I can put up with anyone Yumi’s dating.”

“Can you not say that so loudly?” Kiryu flinched when people turned around to look at him.

Nishiki closed his eyes. “Sorry.”

Kiryu put out his cigarette on the nearby wall. They stood in silence, taking the occasional step forward.

“I just don’t want you to get hurt,” Kiryu finally said. “I don’t want Yumi to get hurt.”

They’d reached the shop.

“I would never hurt Yumi,” Nishiki said. “I would die before I hurt Yumi.”

MAJIMA & NISHIDA

“Did you want to see me, boss?”

Majima took his feet off the desk and put his book down.

“Come in Nishida, sit yer ass down.”

“Did I do something wrong, boss?”

“I dunno. Did ya?”

“Not that I know of, boss.”

“Ya don’t need ta call me boss every time ya open yer mouth.”

“Sorry, b— Sorry.”

“So how’s life treating ya? Ya getting on with the boys?”

“Everyone’s been great. Can’t complain.”

“Ya think ya might take the oath?”

“I think so, when I’m older. If you’ll have me.”

“Driver’s license working out for ya? No problems with the law?”

“No, boss, no problem at all. Thanks for sorting that out for me.”

“Can’t be having a minor driving me around, now can I. Speaking of, when did ya drop out of school?”

“Back in December, when I left home. Local jobs don’t pay enough. My mum, she can’t work, bad back. My dad passed a long time ago.”

“Ya send money home?”

“Yes, most.”

“That why ya staying with that guy?”

“Oh, I… no, I mean, it helps, but, no, I—”

“He paying ya?”

“No! It’s not like that.”

“How is it then?”

“He just… likes my company.”

“Uh huh. A salary man thrice yer age just likes your company.”

“Yes!”

“So he’s offering ya free accommodation. In his apartment.”

“Are you spying on me?”

“Yes.”

“….why?”

“’Cause ya appear to be too stupid for yer own good! Are ya fuckin’ or ain’t ya?”

“With all due respect boss, but that’s none of your business,” Nishida crossed his arms. And scowled. It was more of a frown, but extra intense.

Majima sighed. He drummed his fingers on the desk.

“OK, Nishida, here’s the deal. Ya can join the family when you're 18. But first ya’re going back to school.”

“Why?”

“’Cause we’re already maxed out on thugs and delinquents. I need somebody who can multiply 5x6.”

“Boss, I can’t afford—”

“I ain’t finished! Ya going back to school, but you’re still working for me. I’m gonna need more things doin’. Your pay will go up accordingly.”

“What kind of things?”

“Ya know, cleaning my place and such.”

“You want a cleaner?”

“I got delicate things in there, can’t have people snoopin’.”

“Yes, I’ve already seen—”

“I ain’t around the place as much, need somebody to supervise.”

“The empty flat?”

“The whole block ya dumbass! We’re keeping it managed for the Clan. And stock my bar. My bar needs to always be stocked.”

“Isn’t there someone more qualified who can manage—”

“Are ya fuckin’ listening? Everyone here’s a numpty!”

“OK, fine, yes, I can do that.”

“Good. And one more thing. Ya gonna tell yer… benefactor, ya work for me.”

“What? Why?”

“’Cause if anything happens to ya, I want ‘em to know who the person breaking their legs will be.”

“I don’t think they’ll let me stay if I tell them that.”

“Do ya wanna stay?”

“I… don’t know. I like the company too,” Nishida looked deflated. “Just the company.”

“Ain’t the most comfortable place, but if ya stay here, you’ll be surrounded by the lads. And they ain’t gonna touch ya. They know I’d take more than a pinky.”

“Are you sure that’s OK boss? I’m not family yet.”

“Consider yourself an apprentice,” Majima grinned. “So we got an agreement?”

"Yes, OK, we got an agreement.”

“Splendid. Now get the hell out, I’m busy.”

“Yes, boss. Thank you boss,” Nishida bowed while backing out the door.

Majima shook his head, put his legs back on the desk and carried on reading his book.

KIRYU & MAJIMA

“Boss, Kiryu-san is here to see you.”

“What, here here?”

“Yes, he’s right outsi—"

“Thanks, Nishida. Majima-no-niisan,” Kiryu bowed, “I hope I’m not interrupting. I had some family business to discuss.”

“Family b— Why of course, Kiryu-chan. Always a pleasure to receive the Dojima family. Nishida, leave us. And close the door. Shut.”

“Yes, boss.”

“Well,” Majima sat back, pushing the paperwork he’d been reading aside. “There's a sight for sore eyes.”

Kiryu sat on the space of desk in front of Majima that’d been cleared, grabbed him by the jacket and pulled him up for a kiss. Majima gave a small yelp as Kiryu’s tongue pushed into his mouth, lips already parted in surprise. His arms found their way around Kiryu’s shoulders, eye closing as he pulled him in closer and relaxed into it. He’d not had the taste of him in a week and it was coffee and cigarettes and want. Kiryu slowed the kiss down, looking up to Majima’s laden eye. “I missed you,” he whispered.

“Sorry I’ve not been home,” Majima smiled, resting his forehead on Kiryu’s. “Just got in this morning.”

“How was Niigata?”

“Bitch in need of taming.”

“Lucky Niigata,” Kiryu breathed heavily, before he started devouring Majima again. A gloved palm pressed against Kiryu’s crotch and Majima giggled into the kiss.

“Kiryu-chan. You been thinkin’ about me?”

“Yes,” he flushed, realising just how needy he was coming across.

“You been coming for me?” Majima pinned him with a stare, voice low, not leaving Kiryu room to wiggle out of the answer.

“Once,” Kiryu admitted and closed his eyes as a hand moved with purpose against a very hard erection.

“Was it good?”

“Not as good as this,” Kiryu panted, grabbing Majima’s wrist gently but firmly to stop the inevitable escalation. “What time will you be back?”

“Before you I wager. Ain’t it the big birthday bash tonight?”

“Shit,” Kiryu exhaled having seemingly forgotten the entire day’s plans.

“So ya ain’t getting taken care of till tomorrow,” Majima fake pouted. “Unless…”

“Unless?”

“Unless,” Majima starting kissing down his jaw “ya want a taste right now.”

“Here!?”

“Ya come at me like this and then get scandalised when I offer? That ain’t fair Kiryu-chan.”

Kiryu didn’t have a response to that. Especially with how Majima’s cock was now rubbing against his, their clothes far too much in the way. He started panicking slightly at the wet patch that would definitely be forming there and be very noticeable on the way out, unless he did something about it. He was incredibly, unbearable horny.

“Are you sure it’s OK here?”

“Nishida’s extra vigilant.”

“OK,” Kiryu gave in, not having needed much persuasion.

Majima grinned and hummed as he undid Kiryu’s belt, fingers impatiently fiddling with the button and zipper before he reached inside Kiryu’s boxers to grab his cock, moaning quietly as he felt its reassuring girth. He hadn’t had it inside him in a while and he’d missed the burn, but that was tomorrow’s mission. First things first.

“What’s gotten you so hot and bothered Kiryu-chan?”

“You did. You do.” He did. Majima got Kiryu unescapably bothered before they’d even begun stripping away at all the layers of their sexual preferences and once they’d started it was like a tsunami of depravity had swallowed them both and neither was minded to reach shore, but today… he hadn’t quite expected the effect that uh… the um… this room would have on him.

“Oh yeah? Ya like getting wrung out on my desk?” Kiryu’s near violent shudder told Majima he’d hit the bullseye.

“Shut up,” Kiryu spat knowing full well he was exactly on the money because, yes, fucking yes, he was offering himself up on a platter in Majima’s actual seat of power begging to get railed with all his men outside and— shit shit shit.

“If you want to fuck me do it now or you’re going to get a handful of cum,” he threatened, eyes piercing, scowl and everything.

Majima nearly chocked. Kiryu was never like this. The words ‘brat’ and ‘Kiryu Kazuma’ did not exist in the same dictionary. If they were home, he’d not act up even if Majima edged him to the end of the earth and back. In fact, he had. But this was different. The power imbalance was not a fantasy and Kiryu would never for real give up power. But if Kiryu wanted to play slut to the patriarch, Majima would very much oblige.

He grabbed Kiryu by the hair to kiss him, violently, biting down on his lip hard enough to cut, ordering him to turn around. He did, arms hovering as he stared at the paper-covered desk, not wanting to mess up anything. Majima shoved him on it unceremoniously, pulling his trousers down to his knees and sighing at the magnificent sight before him.

Then, one fear.

“Ya got lube on you?”

“No… don’t you?”

Well, fuck. “I’ll be careful,” he said and grabbed Kiryu’s ass cheeks to open him up before shoving his tongue inside him. Kiryu had not anticipated this and nearly yelped before quickly shutting his mouth and slamming his forehead down on the desk.

The gloves had come off and a finger had found its way inside while a very eager tongue still worked its way around. A second index finger came in, stretching him open from each side while Majima’s tongue pushed in between them to get saliva as deep in him as it would go. It was fucking gross and it got Kiryu leaking on the desk.

“Do it already!”

Majima had intended to be gentle, both for Kiryu and for the noise, but his plans were changing by the minute.

“One hard fuck coming up,” his voice accompanied the sound of a belt and the undoing of a zipper. Kiryu felt his right thigh pushed up on the desk, knee up near his elbow, leaving him embarrassingly exposed as his jaw dropped and his mouth salivated in anticipation. Jesus, what was even happening to him today.

Majima’s cock tip was pushing against his hole, testing the boundaries, but the teasing didn’t last long. The cock slipped inside, not too smoothly, but not roughly either, and Kiryu clutched on to the desk in a silent cry between pain and unbearable want.

“Look at you,” Majima said quietly before moving, “like you were born to take me. Like your ass just waited for me to fill it.” It was sexy, but it was also true, though Kiryu didn’t have time to reply because Majima pushed his hips down and starting pounding into him making the whole desk shake.

“Niisan!” Kiryu panicked at the noise, but couldn’t bring himself to do anything about it. He was being fucked like a bitch in heat and he was so damn high on it he didn’t even know if he could keep his own moans in check.

Majima grabbed a bottle of something from a shelf in reach and threw it against the wall where it shattered. Kiryu didn’t have time to be confused as he was too preoccupied trying to keep himself quiet because Majima was now hammering against his sweet spot. He bit down on his jacket to keep the moans muffled.

“How do ya like patriarch dick, Kiryu-chan? Is it getting you wet? Like a good little whore?”

Kiryu swore. Because it was. And because he could hear Majima’s grin in his voice. He was fucking leaking everywhere. He was about to start leaking a whole lot more. “Say it again,” he hissed, his hand reaching down and stroking frantically.

“Filthy little fucking whore.”

Well, he came.

And so did Majima. He bit into the jacket on Kiryu’s shoulder as his cock pulsed inside tightening walls, letting his mind, as much as he could control it, focus on the image of his cum painting Kiryu’s insides. Deep, tight and warm. His to fill up whenever he wanted. Only his. That thought tagged at him like a wrong note. It wasn’t make-believe. And that frightened him.

“Fuck,” Kiryu was saying.

“Stay a sec, let me clean ya up.” Tissue dipped in water, careful not to get clothes wet.

“Shit,” Kiryu said as he stood up, looking at the aftermath on the desk. “Was that important?”

“I’ll wipe it off,” Majima dismissed. It was this evening’s contract. Decidedly improved.

Kiryu bent to grab his trousers, squinting at the book that’d found its way to the floor by their feet. “The Good Dom Guide?”

“It was a present.”

“From whom?” Kiryu looked equal measures shocked and suspicious.

“Yumi-chan,” Majima grinned, trying his damndest to suppress a laugh as a whole sunset of colours swept over Kiryu’s face. He kept staring at Majima, silently begging for him to say he was kidding.

“Right,” Majima said instead. “Hit me.”

“Sorry?” Kiryu blinked.

“Hit me, come on. In the face. Make it look the part.” Oh! Right. Yes, that explained the bottle. He did. Majima reciprocated. Kiryu hit him again out of reflex. Majima opened his mouth to protest, but closed it shut.

“Ya gonna be OK? Want me to come with ya now? I’ve got an hour.”

“I’m OK I think.”

“Won’t crush? Ya sure?” Majima pulled him into a hug. He stroked the back of Kiryu’s head with his thumb.

He wasn’t, but for now he was riding the adrenaline. “Hit me again,” he said pulling back. Majima scowled, but did it anyway, backing away this time to avoid the counter blow. It never came.

“Yeah, I’ll be alright,” Kiryu said and smiled. “See you at home. Good luck with the thing.”

“Kazuma,” Majima stopped Kiryu at the door. “I missed ya too you nerd.” The name had come out. The reminder that this was, when all was said and done, an equal partnership. Kiryu hadn’t realised that he had really needed to hear it. He smiled gratefully before heading out.

“What the—” Yumi looked at him shocked when he got to Serena.

“I’m good. Happy birthday!”

“Lovers’ spat?” Nishiki smiled around his cigarette, for some bizarre reason getting it right away.

“Just messing about. Yumi—” Kiryu reached behind the bar to get a box out of the fridge, “I got you these. I hope you like them. I picked them out myself,” he glanced at Nishiki. His face was a picture.

“Oh! From the new bakery! Thanks, Kazuma.”

“And this is from me,” Nishiki offered his present, a bit shily.

“Akira! I’ve wanted this for ages! It’s always sold out. Thank you so much. Reina-san, please get that bottle.”

“Right away,” Reina said pulling out a very expensive looking bottle of red wine and four glasses.

“It’s from Maj—Goro. We should have it with the pastries before heading out!”

They did. Then they went for a meal. Then sang karaoke and drank till the morning. And it was good. For now.
