Work Text:
It had been years since the disappearance of Olivia’s peers: Yves, Gowon, and Chuu. They had run off into the forest to find freedom elsewhere in the world beyond Eden and its skewed beliefs.
Just as Olivia was left alone and forgotten, so was Eden. No one knew of Eden only rumors and tales were spoken of until the stories themselves were forgotten, lost to the void that consumes the forgotten.
Only the unfortunate souls left in Eden knew of the place. Once someone left the smog that surrounded Eden they would truly be free, free to live their lives, then they would finally forget this forsaken place.
“Olivia!” The instructor yelled. “Why can’t you be like Yves, that girl carried herself proudly and flawlessly. Are you even trying to compete?”
“Why would you want me to be like her!” Olivia had shouted back, knowing full well the punishment that would certainly come if she continued. “Yves left us, taking Gowon and Chuu with her! Unless you want me to run away too then never mention their names to me again.”
“How dare you talk back to me child! You know better than that, I’ve told you this a million times!” The instructor reprimanded. “Go to your room this instant and don’t even think of sneaking out, I know better than to allow you to escape like the others.” The instructor warned Olivia before heading into her office.
Unlike the girls who had escaped before leaving Eden, Olivia had a dark aura surrounding her. To this day it is unknown to her and the instructor as to why she is so different. If Olivia were to escape, who knows what would become of her and the outside world.
As Olivia watched her instructor slam the door to her office she thought of what would have happened if she had run away with the others. How different life must be outside this cursed fog. If only they had asked she may be free of this torment.
When she was through with reminiscing on her past she left and finally went to her room as instructed. The room felt empty and lifeless. What once housed three of her closest friends now housed only her.
Empty beds, and dusty desks were all that remained, forgotten by the friends that abandoned her all those years ago.
Olivia glanced at Yves bed and remembered something, if it was still there she may finally have a way out of this bleak place. She looked under the bed and found a Diary, a diary full of escape routes.
As Olivia read through the diary she thought to herself *yve was always like a bird in a cage. She was meant to spread her wings and fly, free of this place. If only yve had chosen to bring her along for the ride.*
A month had passed since Olivia’s burning desire to escape had reignited, Olivia was planning her escape. Unlike Yves, Olivia wouldn’t plan a route, no she was going in blind. The only thing Olivia needed to do was upset the Instructor enough that she would storm off and leave Olivia but this was proving to be a challenge.
After a few more days Olivia finally knew how to get on the instructor's nerves. Olivia had been observing everything the instructor did from dusk till dawn and had noticed a longing in her eyes one that she knew was because of the three girls who had run away. After all Eden was meant to be a forever home to the girls they were created by God for a reason and the instructor had been assigned to them. If Olivia successfully managed to run away the instructor would be no more. She would disappear from existence as she would no longer have a purpose.
“Do you miss the other three?” Olivia had asked the instructor.
“Why do you ask?” The instructor curiously asked. “You yourself said you did not want to discuss them so why now?” The instructor blankly stated.
“What if I told you why they truly left, would that peak your interest?” Olivia asked knowing the instructor would take the bait.
“If you truly know then tell me Olivia, why did they leave? Why did they leave you here to be forgotten huh?” The instructor asked with a bite in her voice.
“Because they never liked you, they despised you and this place, they ran away for their happiness.” Olivia stated.
“Leave now. I won’t hear anything further from you today.” The instructor commanded Olivia, leaving her behind and locking the office door. What Olivia had said hit home those girls were like her children and them leaving dug a hole in her heart all this time she blamed Olivia for driving them away not knowing it was her all along.
After the click from the lock could be heard Olivia rushed to her room and grabbed Yves diary. Knowing the front gates were now locked. She went out of the window and climbed a tree that led over the fence gate, from there she ran to the forest just as her peers had.
Leaving Eden and its rules behind. Olivia left the instructor, and her burning hatred for the place dissipated as she got further into the forest. Finally breaking free from the shackles that bound her to Eden she would find what she had lost. She would find love; she would find friends of which she could call family.

Eden was nothing but a fragment of the girl's memory. What once was a home for all four girls is now just empty halls. With the girls all gone from Eden the instructor was no more, sent away by God for failing the task that was given to her. Now Eden was truly forgotten never to be spoken of again.
