The Little Prince

Summary:

The first thing I knew was dark, pure darkness, stretching endlessly in all directions.

There was no floor, no ceiling, no sky. The darkness didn’t end, but it didn’t begin.

The dark is my parent, it is my mother and father all in one. The dark is where I’m from, and all I’ve ever known. It’s just me and the darkness alone.

I am its child, its little prince.

(An interpretation of Ralsei's backstory. First-person POV. This is the story of the little prince.)

Chapter 1: Awakening

Chapter Text

The first thing I knew was dark, pure darkness, stretching endlessly in all directions.

There was no floor, no ceiling, no sky. The darkness didn’t end, but it didn’t begin.

The dark is my parent, it is my mother and father all in one. The dark is where I’m from, and all I’ve ever known. It’s just me and the darkness alone.

I am its child, its little prince.

Darkness was there when I took my first steps, my little feet pitter-pattering on nothingness, but it wasn’t nothing, it was everything because there wasn’t anything else.

Darkness was there when I said my first word, a quiet unsure “Hello.”

Darkness was there when I sang my first song, shrill and unpracticed, not pleasing to hear.

The first thing I ever felt was incomplete.

I was not lonely, but since my first moments in existence, I’ve been aware of something missing.

I’ve always known an absence, and I’ve always been unable to name it as anything else.
