Work Text:
“Are you fucking kidding me?! We were supposed to get these products three weeks ago and now you’re telling me we have to wait another month to get them?! WHY WERE THEY EVEN SHIPPED TO THE WRATH RING?!”
Valentino screamed into the phone. The Overlord of Lust had expected to receive several packages of sex toys for his new film weeks ago. However, due to shippings getting delayed multiple times for no legitimate reason, he still hasn’t gotten them yet. It resulted in production either getting pushed back or delayed, which of course, made Val incredibly angry.
The demon on the other line,who happened to be responsible for this whole situation, wasn’t helping, and his attitude just made things worse.
“Well, if ya want yer damn shit so badly, then just go to the Wrath Ring and get’em yerself.” he bluntly told him.
Val growled. “I can’t,” he told the incompetent demon, his teeth clenched tightly. “Sinners can’t leave the Pride Ring. Here’s an idea: Why don’t YOU go to Wrath, get my ‘damn shit,’ and do your fucking job, like you were supposed to do IN THE FIRST PLACE?!”
The demon snickered. “Sorry sir, but I can’t do that.”
Val paused for a moment before answering.
“Why not?”
“Im’a sinner, dipshit. Sinners can’t leave da’ Pride Ring. So suck on ma’ dick ya’ jizz lickin’ popcicle stick!”
With that comment, Val grabbed his phone and threw it across his office, hitting the wall with a loud crack. He sunk back in his chair with a heavy sigh, feeling defeated. It seemed like everything that could go wrong this week, DID go wrong. Not only was Val’s film’s production getting backed up, which was making loose more money than he would like to, he had to completely refund everyone who bought tickets to Angel Dust’s up-coming performance at the overlord’s “new” club that was supposed to have it’s grand opening that very weekend, but was destroyed after the well known spunky powerhouse, “Cherri Bomb” snuck in previous night and lit off a few dozen fireworks inside the building, causing quite a bit of damage and repair.
After a few moments of sitting in his chair, collecting himself, Val got up and walked over to his phone that was now on the floor on the opposite side of the office, hoping he didn’t break it too badly. He picked it up and despite the screen being mostly cracked, he was genuinely surprised it was still functioning. Through the cracks, Val saw that he got a text from Vox.
Vox: You should come home sweetheart. It’s late.
The moth overlord smiled. Vox was right. He took his barely functioning phone and locked his office. He was curious what the media overlord was up to today. That was the first time he’s heard from him all evening and he apparently wasn’t seen anywhere in the studio nearly all day. “Did he even show up to work at all today?” Val wondered. “That’s unlike him.”
~~~~~~
It began to softly snow as Val’s chauffeur dropped him off at the apartment complex, so he quickly made his way inside before he got cold and up towards the top floor to his and Vox’s penthouse.
He checked his phone again, wondering if he might’ve missed any other calls or texts from Vox on his way home. The cracks on the screen could’ve been obscuring something, but he didn’t see anything. This made him more curious as to what Vox was up too. It’s not like him to suddenly not show up to work, or not letting Val know about his whereabouts.
Once at the door, Val let himself in, completely not expecting what was on the other side.
“Voxxy, I’m-” he froze, taking in the view.
The lights were off in the penthouse, and the only source of light that came was from the multiple, rose-scented candles that were placed accordingly: one on the dining table, and two on each side of their 90 inch platinum screen TV. Val looked down and saw that there were also deep red rose petals scattered around the floor and made a trail towards the kitchen. It gave a calming, and romantic aura.
Val decided to follow the rose trail that led to the kitchen. There, he saw that the kitchen island was completely covered with multiple boxes of candy, ranging from fruity and chocolatey, a few bottles of wine, and a giant bowl of popcorn. Leaning against the island, with his phone in one hand, and a glass of wine in the other that he kept swishing in a circle, was Val’s boyfriend, the Media Overlord himself, dressed in plaid pajama pants, a dark gray sweatshirt, and a pair of bisexual themed fuzzy socks.
“Voxxy?”
The TV demon raised his head as his name was called and smiled softly when he saw who it was.
“Hi baby.” He set his phone and glass down and made his way towards Val. The moth leaned over just enough so Vox could reach his face and share a tender kiss with him.
“What’s all this for?” Val asked, gesturing towards the candles, rose petals, and snacks. Vox shrugged. “Oh, just a little something I thought you might like,” he explained. “I’ve been noticing that work’s been stressing you out lately. So I thought you might appreciate coming home to movie night.”
Val gently wrapped his four arms around the smaller demon, finally relaxing after such a long week, and feeling loved from Vox. “Thanks baby,” he whispered. “I really needed this.” The two of them held onto each other for a few moments before Vox broke the embrace. “Go get into something more comfortable,” he told Val. “I’ll get the movie started.”
Val did as he was told and headed towards their bedroom. There, he slipped into a red silk pajama set with gold cuffs and collar. He also replaced his signature heart shaped shades for a pair of simple black glasses.
Once he was ready, he made his way back and saw Vox sitting on the couch, toying with something in his hands. “I’m back,” he told him. He saw Vox quickly hide whatever it was he was playing with behind the pillow next to him, but decided not to question it.
“Got everything ready?” Val sat down next to Vox and rested his head on the TV demon’s shoulder.
“Everything’s good,” he answered. He grabbed the remote and played the movie.
The two sat in silence, happy to be in each other’s company as the movie played on, especially Val. He never had someone like Vox, who loved and cared for him the same way he loved and cared for him. As much as he enjoyed the extravagant dates and the kinky sex, Val always enjoyed the smaller moments like these, just being close to Vox. But as the movie went on, maybe because of his work stress or something else, his mind began to wander and he started to worry.
‘Would this last...?’ He thought to himself. He always had that nagging feeling in his head that Vox was only using him for his own personal gain, and that he was going to toss him to the side once he didn’t need him anymore. It wouldn’t be the first time someone Val cared about abandoned him like that with no warning in the past, and it has caused the moth to have difficulties trusting anyone wholeheartedly, all except for Vox.
‘Vox won’t leave me, right?’ He thought. ‘He wouldn’t do that, right? I don’t think he would, but what if he did? No! Vox wouldn’t leave me like that! H-he loves me, and I know him well enough to know that! But… What if I don’t know him as well as I thought. Do I even know him that well? Does he have secrets that I don’t know about, and that… he doesn’t want me to know about…? Does he see me like everyone else does? Just some flashy whore with no self-respect?’
‘Does Vox even like me?’
“Sweetheart, what’s wrong?” Val snapped out of his train of thought. He didn’t realize he zoned out for half of the movie and looked up to see Vox looking down at him rather than the TV screen. He looked worried at him, but Val shook his head. “I-it’s nothing. I’m fine.” He told him, but Vox wasn’t convinced, and he knew that. The TV demon paused the movie, and gathered Val closer into his arms. “If something’s bothering you, you can tell me.” The moth demon wasn’t entirely sure how to tell Vox about what he was thinking, but he knew keeping it quiet would cause more stress in his head. After a few long moments of silence, Val finally spoke in a soft, hesitant whisper. “Vox…? Do you… love me?” The Media Overlord was shocked. “Wh-what?” he asked, not sure where the unexpectant question came from. “Of course I love you! I love you more than anything! Why would you ask something like that?” He paused for a moment, then made a horrifying thought. “Have I… said or done something that made you think that?” Val shook his head again. “No,” he answered meekly. “It’s just… good things… they just… never want to stick around, I guess. I don’t know.” He realized he was fumbling with his words. “Y-you know what, forget I said anything. I’m just being stupid that’s all.” He felt Vox pull him in even more and held him tightly, almost as if he would’ve let go, Val would be gone for good. He then felt his hand gently caress his back. “You’re not being stupid,” he told his moth. His voice was soft, but sure. “And I could never leave you.” Vox held onto him for a few moments before letting go, and letting Val sit up straight. He then took his lower set of hands and looked directly into his eyes. “Val,” he began. “Way before I met you, back when I was still alive, I thought love was foolish, and a waste of time. I was too independent for ‘such nonsense,’ as I used to put it. When I arrived in Hell, my views didn’t change one bit. I was too focused on building my empire, gaining as much power as I could down here, becoming the greatest Overlord in Hell, and I didn’t want anyone getting in my way.” He squeezed Val’s hands a little tighter before continuing. “But then, years later, you arrived in Hell, and… I’ll admit, when I saw you for the first time, and heard about this new ‘Overlord of Lust and Depravity,’ I thought you were nothing more than some slutty, arrogant diva, just like everyone else.” Val tried to interrupt Vox, wondering why he was telling him all of this, but he was cut off. “But then you approached me, and offered to be business partners, to expand our influence on the media industry, with sex as a ‘pleasant little bonus,’ as I remember you calling it. I knew you really only did it because you craved more power, and I only accepted for the same reason. But as time went on, and I worked with you more and more, I realized that… I wanted to know more about you. Not for business related reasons, or for lustful reasons, but there was more to you than the ‘flashy whore’ I first thought of. I wanted to know what you did outside the studio, behind closed doors, your passions, what made you smile, that kind of stuff.” Vox moved his hands up towards Val’s face and cupped it gently. “I began to fall in love with you, but I told myself that you didn’t feel the same way. I told myself that you probably thought love was foolish, the same way I did so many years ago. Romance, dating, all of it was so new to me, and for the first time in a very long time, I felt scared. I wanted to ask you out, but I was scared that you’d reject me, or think of me as weak because of my feelings towards you. But I’m so fucking glad I did it anyway, because look at us now. We are here together, and you’ve become the most important person in my entire afterlife.” Val sat there completely speechless. He had no idea how to respond after hearing his lover pour his heart out to him like that. “Voxxy…” was the only thing he could muster. Vox let go of his face and turned around to grab whatever it was that he hid under the pillow beforehand. Val watched the TV demon closely as he then stood up from the couch and placed himself right in front him. He quickly glanced down at Vox’s hand to see what exactly he was holding, and saw a small black velvet box. He quickly looked back at Vox with wide eyes, but before he could say anything, The Media Overlord was down on one knee and opened the small black box to reveal a shiny gold ring that had a large ruby in the center with small white diamonds to compliment. Val buried his face in his upper hands and began to sob, letting his walls break down. “Valentino, will you marry me?” It took him a moment to answer as every time he tried to say something, he’d be cut off with another sob, but after some time, he nodded and was able to say the word Vox desperately hoped he’d say. “Yes!” Val then lunged himself off the couch and tightly embraced Vox as his sobs grew more uncontrollable. The TV demon hugged his moth back as he heard him repeat “yes” over and over again. They held onto each other for a long while before Val let go and stared into Vox’s eyes with teary eyes and a large smile. He then grabbed the sides of his TV head and attacked every inch of his screen kisses, before calming down and rested his forehead against his. After holding each other for a while, Val felt Vox gently grab his top left hand. He looked down and saw him carefully slide the ring onto his finger. It fit perfectly. Vox then once again, cupped his moth’s face into his hands and smiled with intense adoration as he looked into his eyes while wiping away his tears. “I love you so much, my pretty baby,” he whispered to him. “I love you too, darling,” Val whispered back, “And I’ll never stop loving you.” The two Overlords leaned into each other and shared a tender kiss before Vox picked Val up and carried him back to the couch. They didn’t care about the rest of the movie. The future husbands only cared about one another and they grew more lost in each other as the snow fell harder in the dark crimson night.
