After a very long day, hyeongjun's shift was done and he was already preparing to go home.
As he was walking on his way home, he spotted his boyfriend Minhee sitting on a bench alone. Hyeongjun brightens up the moment he sees him and then walked towards his boyfriend.
Minhee was his childhood friend, his bestfriend, and his lover for almost 8 years. Hyeongjun was really happy when Minhee confessed to him in their third year of high school. Minhee even told him that he would never let him go even if Hyeongjun wanted to. Remembering that sents butterflies to him stomach. Minhee was cheesy, yet he loved that weirdo.
As hyeongjun approached minhee, the latter covered the former's eyes and asked in a teasing voice, "Guess who it is?"
Minhee hold the hands that were covering his eyes and replied, "Hyeongjun-ah, I know that's you."
Hearing the answer, hyeongjun smiled brightly and removes his hands in Minhee's eyes. Sitting beside Minhee, he looked at him with big round eyes. "Did you wait for me? You should have just waited for me to come home. I'll always come home to you." Hyeongjun said innocently which made minhee twitch in pain.
"Okay, shall we go home now?" Hyeongjun questioned as he stood up without hearing Minhee's reply.
Minhee hold his hand to stop him from starting to walk, in which made hyeongjun to look at him confused. "What's wrong?" He asked worried.
"I have something to talk to you about." Minhee said instead and looked at hyeongjun seriously. However, the action only made hyeongjun's heart beats faster.
" What is it?" Hyeongjun asked as Minhee stood up to look at hyeongjun properly.
"I've known you since we were little kids trying to figure out how the world works and in the process I fell inlove with you, the cutest person I've ever seen. I was really glad when you accepted my feelings in high school, and let me in to your life as more than a friend." Minhee said to which made Hyeongjun smile. He worried for nothing when there was nothing to worry about.
"But-" Minhee stopped as he looked away from hyeongjun's eyes. The latter's smile slowly fades as his face scrunches, why was there a but?
"The feelings I have for you now, aren't as strong as it were before. Every passing day, the excitement when I see just your face fades. Even though you're here with me now, it feels like I'm still alone." Minhee continued which made hyeongjun's heart sank. Every word that left minhee's mouth made hyeongjun's heart shattered into pieces bit by bit.
"Hyeongjun, I love you but I can no longer see myself loving you like how I did before. I'm sorry, but I'm breaking up with you." Minhee said as he looked at hyeongjun's face with determination, no hesitation.
Looking at minhee made hyeongjun realized that he was at fault for making minhee love him less.
Hyeongjun looked at minhee then to the floor, "I see..." He murmured to himself, not enough for minhee to hear.
"Hyeongjunnnnnn-ahhhhhh!!!" A scream was heard, followed by someone who appeared out of nowhere. "How dare you not accept my feelings? And you even went as far as to tell me you were dating someone? As if that could be the truth!"
Hyeongjun and Minhee's attention switched to the one who was talking as the person stopped beside Hyeongjun. "You should date me alre-" Wonjin said, and stooped as soon as he saw someone with hyeongjun.
He looked at hyeongjun with an eyebrow raised at him and asked, "Who's this?"
Hyeongjun looked at Minhee then to Wonjin. "This is Kang Minhee," he said as he smiled at Wonjin. "My friend." He continued.
Minhee looked at him startled as Hyeongjun refused to meet his eyes.
Wonjin eyed the two of them and smiled, "Hi, I'm Ham Wonjin. Hyeongjun's future husband."
"Hey, stop that!" Hyeongjun smacks wonjin as the latter just laughed.
"Then, you should just date me already. I'm handsome, you'd be missing out if you won't date me." Wonjin said smugly.
"Well, I just got dumped today so maybe I should reconsider your offer." Hyeongjun said jokingly which made wonjin smiled brightly.
"No take backs, come on let's have dinner." Wonjin joyfully says and then grabbed hyeongjun by his arm.
Hyeongjun lets go which made wonjin looked at him again. "What's wrong?" He asked.
"I'll talk to minhee for a bit, wait for me." He answered as Wonjin smiled and game him a thumbs up as he walks away from the two of them.
Hyeongjun breathes in and out, then looked at Minhee who was still standing there. The former reached the latter's hand and gave him a small box.
Minhee looked at him confused, "It's your birthday present, silly." He chuckles as he let Minhee's hand go. "Happy Advance Birthday!" He smiled as he looked away wiping the tears that just started to fall.
Minhee looked at the retreating back of hyeongjun. Looking back at the small box, he opened it and saw a ring with their initials. He didn't know it would hurt this much.
As Hyeongjun walks beside wonjin crying. The latter pats his back, soothing him.
Wonjin looks at him with a sad face, concerned about his well-being and how hard it must be for hyeongjun. Nevertheless, even in his darkest days, Wonjin will always be there for him. "I did what you asked me to do." Wonjin sadly said, he wants to avoid the topic but he can't help but be curious about something.
"Thank you for helping out, Wonjin hyung." Hyeongjun said softly that it almost slipped by wonjin's hearing.
Wonjin wasn't sure if he should ask this, but still he is curious anyway. "How did you know that he was about to break up with you today?" Wonjin asked curiously. Hyeongjun looked at him, eyes red from crying.
"I heard him practicing the words in front of a mirror in the morning." Hyeongjun simply replied and started to wipe his tears away.
Wonjin raised an eyebrow. "What's with that? What a jerk!" Wonjin angrily said as hyeongjun laughs even though it still hurts. He knew that it would happen, he was prepared and yet the moment where it did happen, it just hurts... A lot.
He wasn't ready to be alone, he wasn't ready to live without Minhee around, he wants him so much that it hurt to even breathe right now much less to laugh but even so he has to make sure wonjin won't worry too much.
"I thought you were just joking when you asked me that absurd request, guess it was the truth! I still can't believe you're really dating some-" Wonjin continued looking flabbergasted as he shuts up when he noticed how sad hyeongjun is right now.
"Let's get you something to eat, and drink while were at it. I'll always be here for you." Wonjin said as he smiled at hyeongjun. The latter reciprocates the smile.
Hyeongjun didn't tell him that Minhee was crying real tears while practicing. Minhee really was trying not to hurt his feelings. It wasn't Minhee's fault when he has lost feelings for him. It was just fate playing with their feelings again. No one can really tell, that fate was never on anyone's side.
