Work Text:
The clock on the nightstand beside the bed read 1:32 A.M.
Chloe lies in bed wide awake, gazing at the ceiling of her room in her house.
She can’t seem to get some sleep as her 37-week baby bump prevents her from getting into a comfortable position.
Chloe placed a hand on her belly and felt a tiny foot kick in response.
She smiled. She can’t wait to meet this life she is creating inside her. Lucifer, Trixie, and their friends are just as ecstatic about the new addition to their found family.
She turned to her side, facing Lucifer. He laid on his back, the blanket bunched on his waist, displaying his sculpted upper body.
Her eyes settled on his face. His parted lips, his cheekbones, his eyelashes tickling his cheeks, and the stubble she loves to feel beneath her fingertips.
His hair is free from the products he uses, some strands falling on his forehead. In the morning when he awakes, he would complain about it but Chloe absolutely loves those curls.
He looks angelic and in bliss.
Chloe knew in the months to come, they’ll get less and less sleep. Lucifer deserved to have this moment of rest as he’s been caring and very helpful when it comes to her which makes her love him even more.
He helps her put on her sensible boots before work, is always so attentive to her well-being at the precinct, massages her aching muscles when they get home, draws her a warm bath to relax, is a phenomenal step-parent to Trixie and provides her with the best kinds of foods when her pregnancy cravings make an appearance.
Speaking of food, she really wants some ice cream right now.
Especially the one flavored with cookies and cream.
It didn’t matter that it was almost 2 A.M. and besides, she is on maternity leave.
She took one last look at Lucifer and kissed his forehead, and felt him sigh.
She sat up and removed the blanket covering her legs. Her eyes blink, as her vision adjusts to her surroundings in the dark.
Chloe quietly walked towards the door, not wanting to disturb the tall, dark, and handsome devil from his beauty sleep.
As she opened the door, she heard the shuffling of blankets.
Lucifer stirred from his position, and reached for her pillow, hugging it tightly.
He looks so comfortable like this, she thought. Her heart melts at the sight of Lucifer, imagining a baby girl with his dark hair in his arms.
In only just a few more weeks, this vision in her head will come true.
Her train of thoughts almost made her forget about the ice cream.
With that in mind, she made her way downstairs, through the kitchen— the freezer, specifically.
Chloe felt like a kid again at her antics. She remembered when she would wait for her parents to be asleep, sneak her way into the kitchen, and eat a tub of ice cream.
It was definitely worth the stomach ache the next morning.
She opened the freezer and her face lit up in a grin, clearly focused on finding her target.
Her eyes looked for the ice cream she loved but it was nowhere in sight.
Her eyes started to tear up but she wasn’t giving up. She is Chloe Jane Decker— a remarkable mother to Trixie, a good friend, an even loving girlfriend to Lucifer, a detective with the highest closure rate, and a lieutenant of the LAPD.
No one is supposed to be eating her ice cream on her watch.
Chloe then started to bring out every item in her fridge, in search of the ice cream.
The counters in her kitchen are filled, but still, no ice cream is in sight.
With her tiredness, she didn’t have the energy to put back everything in the fridge.
Chloe sat in the living room, hugging one of the pillows and her knees pulled close to her chest. Her face formed into a frown.
Her movements may have been heard by a specific devil, as footsteps started going down the stairs.
Lucifer reached the bottom of the stairs, his eyes tired and hair all mussed up from sleep.
“Chloe? Love?” He called out to her, deep and scratchy from sleep.
Chloe could tell he was concerned and worried as she wasn’t beside him when he awoke.
At that moment, Lucifer took in the chaos in the kitchen. He rubbed his eyes and ran a hand over his tired face, making sure his eyes aren’t deceiving him.
The contents of the fridge were scattered around the kitchen— the kitchen counters, stools, and other areas.
He walked towards the living room and saw his detective, making herself as small as possible and her face all scrunched up.
He sat down beside her, pulling her into his big frame.
Chloe let herself be moved, and let her head rest on his shoulder.
His left arm set a comfortable weight on her waist, his hand placed on her pregnant belly.
“What’s wrong, love?” Lucifer looked down at her, curious and bothered by her distressed state.
“I was craving ice cream, but then it wasn’t in the fridge,” She answered in a small voice, burrowing her head further into his neck.
She’s Chloe Decker for Amenagod's–sake! And here she is, getting sad over some dessert.
Ughhh, hormones, she thought.
“Love, why didn’t you wake me up? And didn’t Maze eat the ice cream before she and Beatrice left yesterday?”
Right! Maze was the culprit for all of this!
“I'm gonna kill Maze the next time I see her,” she said firmly. I mean, how dare she?
Lucifer chuckled, caressing her bump. “Darling, let’s calm down, and how about I go to the local supermarket and grab the ice cream for you, hmm?” He said cheerfully and gave her a sleepy smile.
Chloe wrapped her arms around him tight, not wanting to let him go yet.
“Baby, no,” She gently refused. “Don’t want you to get tired.”
“Detective, it’s okay,” He reassured her, even with her new status, she is still his detective. “Plus,” He continued, “we can’t let the little antichrist inside you starve, eh?” He grinned and that's almost enough to make all her problems disappear.
Almost. She’s not sleeping until she gets her tub of ice cream.

Lucifer walked among the aisles of the supermarket, finding the place where the store stocks ice cream.
He rarely— never— went to places like this as he usually has someone to get his groceries.
But that all changed when he met the love of his life.
Chloe made him a domesticated devil— and, he’s not complaining.
The detective was there every step of the way throughout their relationship.
And that particular detective— lieutenant— may be growing impatient as he's getting her, her chosen ice cream.
He’s glad that this place was open 24/7 and was just a few minutes away from her apartment.
As he’s looking over the different brands of ice cream, he caught a sales lady staring at him.
Even though he is clad in a simple white t-shirt, and pajamas and his hair looks utterly disheveled, some people cannot just help themselves.
They are staring at the king of desire.
He eyes her and asks with his signature British accent, “May I help you?”
“What are you doing here at this hour?” She smirked at him in a flirty manner, interested.
By her body language, he could tell her intentions with him but, all he wanted right now was to go home and wrap Chloe in his arms where they can be in their own little bubble.
A small smile crept up his face and he answered truthfully, “Well, my beloved partner is having her pregnancy cravings, so I'm here to fulfill her wish for some ice cream.”
The sales lady looked pretty bummed out, though he couldn’t care less.
He grabbed a tub of cookies and cream ice cream that he thought is best and hurried out of the store to his precious detective.

“Took you long enough, mister.”
He scoffed, “I beg your pardon?” Placing a hand on his chest, pretending to be offended.
Chloe laughed. He loves hearing that laugh from her.
“I'm kidding, baby,” She gave him a quick kiss on the lips.
“And here is your tub of ice cream, darling,” He handed it to her, “and yes, it's cookies and cream as you asked.”
Chloe practically squealed with joy.
She took out a spoon from the kitchen and sat down on the couch.
She started to scoop giant chunks of ice cream and eat.
The coolness of the dessert in her mouth and the taste of crushed cookies on her tongue feel amazing.
Lucifer watched her happily. Now that’s where the urchin got her obsession with sweets.
He pulled her small form into him, placing his arm around her waist and a hand against her bump.
He felt their tiny angel kick in response and made his smile widen and affection lit up his eyes.
Being a father terrifies him, but with Chloe and their friends there for him, he knew that everything's just going to turn out fine.
And a few weeks later when Aurora Jane Morningstar is born, he couldn’t be any happier.
He would protect her until his last breath, and be the father she deserves.
As he wrapped his arms around Chloe from behind, and watch their daughter sleep in the crib, he had some words to say.
“I love you,” He looked at her and returned his gaze to the tiny form sleeping that’s the best of the both of them, “I love you both and the urchin.”
Lucifer knew his heart belonged to a certain detective, urchin, and antichrist.
Being with his family and friends made him feel at home.
And, well— home is where the heart is.
