Once more Director Yun has been the talk of many circles around Liyue Harbor, after her rework of "The Divine Damsel of Destruction" premiered on the rebuilt Jade Chamber, many have been eagerly awaiting for her rumored new work.
Journalist from all of Teyvat had tried and failed to get that one great scoop everyone wants to know: What is this new work about?
Well known for taking different and more interesting approaches with her characters, especially regarding the human emotions of said characters, the young Director has impressed even the most stalwart Liyue opera traditionalist.
Once more Yun Jin wanted to challenge herself, to make something truly transcendent, now that the age of contracts was over she had gotten interest in a new question, what if we humanized the gods?
Her new found interests had come after finishing her now famous rework of one of her father's scripts, with that experience she now had looked back at the many scripts about the Adepti and the gods, she was now interested in achieving the same understanding she found with the Damsel of Devastation.
Her interactions with Shenhe proved to her that humans and Adepti are not that different inside after all, they both laugh and cry, they both love and hate, they both create and destroy.
But, what about the gods? Have their duty made them forget of their emotions? Do they keep it to themselves to appear strong to their believers?
Did Rex Lapis ever loved?
She had read the tales of the Guili Assembly since childhood, the scripts of her predecessors being no strangers to the mention of the old city, even now she has found herself reading those stories once more, she was interested in someone that managed to soften the Warrior God, the one that made him feel complex emotions, the Lord of Dust herself, Guizhong.
Of course, it was next to impossible to get some first person accounts from those times, she had very few options.
Ganyu was probably around that time, but Yun Jin didn't want to bother the ever busy General Secretary.
Even thought Yanfei is half-adeptus like Ganyu, she is too young to be a first person account.
Many of the Adepti are hard to get a hold off, and without the traveller's help she doesn't think that, one Yunning will allow her to go that far out of Liyue Harbor, and two most of the Adepti will be welcoming to talk about a well known delicate topic with a human, she also knows how they like to make people do a lot for them just for a minute of their time.
Her final option will have to be the one, Zhongli, the well known consultant of the Wangshen Funeral Parlor, gifted with both knowledge and strength, he is the perfect candidate to help with her research.
He is well respected among many circles for his knowledge on many different topics, from the arts to the sciences, the man is a treasure trove of wisdom.
Her interests was more on his refreshing and novel understanding of historical subjects, exactly what she was looking for, someone who can speak as he was there, someone who can give her an in-depth understanding on both Guizhong and The Guili Assembly.
With Zhongli accompanying her, she can have what she wants, and Yunning can rest assured that Yun Jin will be pretty well guarded in her outing to the ruins of Guili Assembly, indeed a perfect compromise.

For Zhongli this was yet another consultant job, someone needed his knowledge on a topic, and he's happy to share it with one of the children of Liyue.
What made it different, is that it was Yun Jin the one that asked for his help, he respects the young woman's dedication to her craft, being no stranger to attend her plays, Zhongli found this as a refreshing opportunity to have a nice change of pace, as things had become rather dull since he stepped down as the Geo Archon, without his duties as the Archon of Liyue, just like a retired worker, he had grown bored and uneasy with the large amount of free time he now posses.
Watching the excited Yun Jin walk in front of him felt like a nice reward for all the centuries of hard work, knowing that his people can enjoy a carefree life dedicated to their trade, made it all worth it at the end.
Her elegance, intelligence and beauty reminded him of someone special to him, Guizhong.
It was ironic really, the woman that reminded him of his long lost partner, was now interested in learning about his long lost partner.
But, watching the young woman also made something else come to surface, a certain kind of interest started to fill his mind, nothing akin to the fascination he felt for her as a performer during the many times he attended her plays, maybe it was an effect of erosion on him, or maybe it was his draconic nature making him want to take such a treasure for himself, the fact was, he was looking at the young director the same way a predator looks at it's prey.
His eyes examining each curve of her body, paying close attention to the flow of both her hair and dress as she walked, everything about her stride filled with elegance, her long dark hair making the tassels of her hat become more noticeable, the way her dress emphasized her waist, her beautiful slender legs, the more he watched the young woman, the more he wanted to have her.
In her excitement Yun Jin failed to notice the way her contracted consultant was looking at her. The young woman's mind was busy pondering the many questions she wanted to ask him, is not everyday she gets to explore the ruins to her heart's content, while also being able to have a one on one chat with such a connoisseur of history, this could potentially be one of the best days of her life.
If only she knew what was going inside the mind of her companion.

When they got to the ruins, they had to clear out the usual treasure hoarders.
It was more of a warm up for the two, with both being Geo and polearm users, it wasn't hard at all for them to coordinate with each other to take down the enemies around the ruins.
Even while fighting, Yun Jin's elegance was very attractive to him, not even a drop of sweat could be seen on her after the fight.
The smile and bright attitude she showed him, made it hard for him to contain himself, he knows he has to be careful with his expressions in front of her, an actress as good as her could easily read him like an open book, or at least that's what he assumed.
But, to his surprise, all Yun Jin did was look around while bombarding him with questions.
What was the daily life of the people of Guili Assembly like?
What kind of relation did Guizhong had with Rex Lapis?
How did the gods interact with the people of Guili Assembly? Was it the same as with Rex Lapis and Liyue?
How did Guizhong die?
And many more questions, her inquisitive nature was another thing he found attractive, just like Guizhong, Yun Jin was filled with curiosity.
While answering some of her questions, the two find some kind of mechanism next to a closed iron door, 'Yet another one of Guizhong's mechanism that mortals couldn't solve,' was the first thing inside his mind, as it was fascinating to Yun Jin, she wanted to solve it and see what was hidden behind.
Zhongli could easily solve it for her, but she refused his assistance as she wanted to solve it herself, as she believed that solving one of Guizhong's mechanism could help her find some kind of understanding of the goddess' personality.
He was happy to indulge the young woman, this could potentially be a good opportunity to keep admiring her form, and if she opens it, the room behind the gate could be used for what he wanted to do.

It took a fair amount of time for her to solve the puzzle, but she did it, Zhongli was sure she would do it, she was as clever as Guizhong after all.
When the gate opened, an excited Yun Jin went inside, the centuries of wear and tear weren't kind on the room, from what was still around, it could be said that it served as some kind of common area, Zhongli easily answered her questions.
"Modern people of Liyue could consider this a restaurant of Guili Assembly. In those times it used to be more akin to a mess hall, a place in which the people could celebrate while having a taste of Marchosius' cooking." A noticeable tint of nostalgia could be heard in his answer.
"Oh! That gives me an idea." Yun Jin produces two portions of mora meat from a small bag she carried, giving one to Zhongli she continues, "I don't think the ancient people of Guili Assembly ate this, but maybe we could have lunch here?"
Zhongli accepted her present, he followed the woman to a nearby stone table, sitting in front of her, the two have a nice quiet lunch.
"Don't tell Yunning i ate meat, i wouldn't hear the end of it." With a giggle Yun Jin tries to have a little of small talk with the man after finishing her mora meat.
For a moment she closed her eyes, she wanted to build the image in her mind, wanting to have a feel for what it was like at the time, the mess hall filled with people happily sharing a meal together, but it will soon be interrupted.
"Mr. Zhongli?" She had been pushed down on the ground by her companion, her red eyes staring into his bright amber eyes, he had an expression she couldn't read. "Is something wrong?" She wanted to know why he would do that, maybe the old structure was nearing collapse and he wanted to protect her.
As she was about to say something else, the man had pulled her dress upwards, nimbly removing it and throwing it aside, with her underwear exposed she stared wide eyed at him.
When she tried to move her arms she noticed that Zhongli was keeping them in place over her head.
With her arms pinned she had started to tremble, "What are you doing?" Was the only thing she could manage to say, in her mind there was only one explanation, but she ignored it, she wanted to believe that he had a good reason, maybe she had one of those deep sea creatures that latched on to people that Rex Lapis was tasked to eliminate on her dress.

What if Rex Lapis didn't die and actually stepped down as an Archon? What if the man in front of her was Rex Lapis' newest incarnation?
Yun Jin's trembling hasn't subsided, now she questions everything Zhongli does, she doesn't want to give him another opportunity to rape her, even thought he already has her on her back with her nightgown pulled up slightly, but is the thought that counts, she is sure he wouldn't dare rape her in her own home.

"After Ms. Yun passed out yesterday, i was worried that her condition might affect upcoming plays, so i came over today with many remedies from Bubu Pharmacy to treat her, as i feel that i am partially responsible." After many years of living, one becomes quite an expert in mixing truth and lies in ones speech, Zhongli only had to change a few details. After all, what he said was mostly true. "Is good to see that Ms. Yun has such a caring manager looking after her, are you perhaps here to assist me in treating her?"
"That's wonderful Mr. Zhongli! I knew i could count on you to keep her safe." If only Yunning knew.
"Right now i was about to treat her sore throat, maybe you could assist me?"
"Of course!"
Both Zhongli and Yunning proceeded to tend Yun Jin's many obvious injuries, most inflicted by Zhongli of course.
"Mr. Zhongli." Yunning wanted to get his attention, "You have to be careful around Yun Jin, as the tabloids can be..." Yunning produced many newspapers, many of their headlines with a picture from different angles of Zhongli carrying Yun Jin the previous evening, all assuming the two had a romantic relationship.
Not even Rex Lapis' mortal vessel can escape idle gossip,
After a while, Yunning says goodbye to the two, as she had other matters to attend to, feeling Zhongli's hand grabbing her butt, Yun Jin was too scared to beg Yunning to stay longer.
With a heavy heart, Yun Jin watches the door close, her face going pale when she heard Zhongli say, "Shall we continue from where we left off?"
