Phantom Who
Chapter One: A strange man in a blue box
~(^.^)~
Dani did exactly what she’d told Danny she would do. She traveled the world. Seeing as much as she possibly could. She went to Egypt and saw the Great Pyramids. She went to Paris and saw the Eiffel Tower. She went and explored the rainforests. She went to Australia and learned to surf. It was the best time of her short existence. After having spent the first five months of her existence locked in a small room in a lab, having every moment of her life controlled by Vlad, the freedom to roam the planet and do all these things was wonderful. And Dani never wanted to give it up.
The only problem she had was that the longer she used her powers, the more physically unstable she became. It started out slow. Feeling tired after using her powers for big things, and then eventually even for small things. Then feeling down right exhausted after using them. And then she’d started melting whenever she used her powers. She was terrified every time her feet would start to melt and turn into green goo.
Dani knew she needed help. She knew she needed either Vlad, who was definitely not an option, or Danny. The only problem was Dani couldn’t get back to Amity Park. She’d been holding off on going back to Amity Park as long as she could, not wanting to risk running into Vlad again. Not when she still had so much of the world left that she wanted to see. And honestly she was terrified of Vlad, more terrified of him then of seeing her feet melting into green goo. And she knew he wanted to kill her. He wanted to melt her down into goo so he could study the goo to help him figure out how to make the perfect clone. She’d made the decision to take one last trip before heading to Amity, just in case she never got another chance to see anything else. So off she went to London to see the sights. She’d made it to London and had spent a week wandering around taking in everything. Seeing the London Eye and Big Ben, and just about every other part of London she could possibly see.
But then when she went to leave to head to Amity Dani found she couldn’t fly. Well, She could fly, but within seconds of transforming into her ghost half and lifting off into the air half her body melted into ectoplasmic goo. Dani had to drop back to the ground and change back to her human form to re-solidify herself. And after that she found she couldn’t go ghost without immediately starting to melt. So, Dani was stuck in London. She had no money, and no powers to use, and she looked like a 13 year old girl. So, she couldn’t get a plane ticket back to Amity, and she couldn’t get a job. Which left her homeless and roaming the streets of London.
About a week after realizing that she couldn’t go ghost, Dani had found an old abandoned factory, one that used to be used to make car parts, and had turned one of the offices into a room for herself. The office was up on the second floor near the back of the warehouse. A set of metal stairs lead up to a small catwalk that lead to the office. She’d stolen some pillows, and blankets, and a sleeping bag and had set up a little bed for herself in one corner in the back of the office. For the next couple weeks, she spent her time running around London and hanging around the factory.
And then almost two months after finding out she was stuck in London, her whole life changed. She’d been asleep in the office when she’d been woken by a very loud crash. For a moment there she’d been absolutely terrified that Vlad had managed to find her. She’d creeped out of the office and out onto the catwalk, glancing warily down below. But she hadn’t found Vlad or any other ghosts. Instead, what she found was a man, wearing a leather jacket, pinned underneath a large metal shelf. And there was a short figure in a strange outfit standing over him, pointing some kind of weapon at him.
“When I return home I’ll be a hero. I’ll be the one who finally managed to defeat the famous Doctor,” The figure gloated.
The man trapped under the metal shelf scowled up at the figure. Dani snuck back into the office, and began looking for anything she could use as a weapon. She wasn’t sure who those people where, or what was going on, but the man in the leather jacket was definitely in need of some help. From the looks of it the other man was going to kill him, and she wasn’t about to let anyone die on her watch. Not if she could help it. She spotted a tool box sitting on the desk on one side of the room, and she rushed over to it, and plucked several tools out of it. She had pretty good aim, and the tools where pretty heavy. She imagined they could do some damage if thrown with enough force. She rushed back out onto the catwalk.
“Goodbye Doctor,” The figure stated, pointing his weapon at the man’s head.
Dani took one of the tools, a wrench, in one hand, took half a second to aim, and chucked the tool right at the figure. The wrench hit the figure in one shoulder, jerking his arm and causing his shot to miss the man in the leather jacket. The figure stumbled, and the man in the leather jacket looked up at her with wide surprised eyes. And then the figure turned to look at her as well, and Dani couldn’t help but stare at him. She had to hold back a snort because the only thing she could think was that the guy looked like an over grown baked potato. She was confused though, because he didn’t look human, but he also didn’t look like a ghost.
“Insolent child, how dare you interrupt my hunt!” The potato shouted indignantly.
“Oh god don’t tell me I’m dealing with another Skulker. I’m so tired of wannabe hunters,” Dani groused quietly to herself with a roll of her eyes.
She shifted another tool into her free hand, getting ready to defend herself and the trapped man.
“Hey, you over grown baked potato how bout you pick on someone your own size!” Dani shouted at the potato, chucking the tool at him.
This time the tool hit the potato right in the head, sending him stumbling backwards. But it didn’t really seem to faze the potato much. It just shook it off, and took a step towards the catwalk, raising his weapon and pointing it at her. Dani ducked to the side as the potato fired a shot at her. She ducked three more shots before she took notice that the man in the leather jacket was wiggling his way out from under the metal shelf. Maybe if she kept the potato busy long enough the man could get free and help her take out the potato.
“Oh, come on dude! You’ve got shit aim! I’m only 13 and I have better aim than you!” Dani taunted, chucking her last tool at the potato.
It hit the potato in the chest this time, but it didn’t even cause the potato to stumble. She could hear the potato grumbling under his breath as he fired another shot at her. She dodged several more shots, keeping an eye on the man in the leather jacket out of the corner of her eye. Dani ducked another shot, but then she was distracted for a moment by the man in the leather jacket finally managing to get free from the metal shelf. She was distracted just long enough for one of the potatoes shots to hit her in her right shoulder, sending her stumbling backwards over the railing of the catwalk. She hit the ground with a loud thud, her head bouncing off the ground painfully. She groaned, sitting up slightly, her head spinning, and her vision blurry. She made eye contact with the man in the leather jacket for a moment, his blue eyes wide with horror. And then her eyes rolled back in her head and she passed out.

The Doctor stared at the child who’d saved his life in horror. He’d watch the shot from the Sontaran’s weapon hit her in her shoulder, sending her tumbling over the railing of the catwalk. He’d heard her head crack against the floor. And then she’d sat up slightly and had looked at him with hazy ice blue eyes. They stared at each other for a moment and then her eyes rolled back into her head and she flopped backwards onto the floor like a puppet that had had its strings cut. He could see her chest moving up and down as she breathed so he knew she wasn’t dead. His eyes flitted over to the Sontaran as it moved towards the girl, and he knew the Sontaran was going to kill her. She’d interrupted his hunt after all.
He scowled, anger rising in him. This child had risked her own life to save him, and he’d be damned if he’d let her get killed for it. He grabbed the wrench the girl had thrown at the Sontaran off the floor, and rushed up behind him. He swung the wrench right at the vent on the back of the Sontaran’s head. There was a loud clang as the wrench connected with the vent, and then the Sontaran dropped to the floor, unconscious. The Doctor rushed over to the girls side, kneeling down next to her and began looking her over. He’d heard her say she was only 13, but damn if she didn’t look young. She was tiny, probably only about 5 feet tall at the most. Her long raven black hair was pulled back into a messy tangled pony tail, and her face was pale. She wore a light blue hoodie, the right shoulder of which, now had a large hole in it and was soaked in blood from the wound on her shoulder.
He pulled his sonic out of his pocket and did a quick scan, then frowned at what it showed him. Her heart rate was really slow, and her body temperature was way too low. She definitely had a severe concussion, and a small fracture to the back of her skull. Honestly he wasn’t really sure how the girl was even still alive. But he doubted she’d live much longer if he didn’t get her to the Tardis med bay soon. As quickly, and as gently as he could, he scooped her up in his arms. One arm under her neck, and the other under her knees. He pulled her close to his chest, letting her head rest on his shoulder. He glanced over at the unconscious Sontaran for a moment, then satisfied that it wasn’t moving anytime soon, he took off through the factory. He’d parked the Tardis only a few blocks from here so it didn’t take him long to reach her, the hard part had been fishing his key out of his pocket and unlocking the door with the girl in his arms. Once inside he made a mad dash through the console room and into the hallway. The Tardis must have sensed his need to get to the med bay quickly because she’d moved it to right outside the console room.
He sent her a quick thank you as he set the girl down on the closest bed. Immediately the girls vitals appeared on the screen on the wall behind the bed. He frowned once more, not liking just how low her temperature was, or how slow her heart was beating. He gently pulled her hoodie off, revealing a black tank top underneath, and started cleaning the wound from the Sontaran’s weapon. Once it was clean he grabbed a jar from the cabinet next to the bed, and smeared some of the paste that was inside of it over the wound, then covered the whole thing up with a bandage. He would have to repeat this process at least five times over the next couple days, but after that the wound would be completely healed.
There wasn’t really too much he could do for her concussion or the fracture in her skull. From his readings she didn’t appear to have a brain bleed or anything that would require surgery of any kind. He sighed, grabbed one of the chairs from the other side of the room and pulled it over to the bedside and sat down. He wasn’t sure how long she’d be out for, but he wasn’t going to leave her side until he was sure that she was going to be okay. This was definitely going to be a long night…
