Chapter Text
I think Cole is an underrated character and therefore in this book he is the main character I have taken inspiration from another story following Kai but I cannot find it again. Disclaimer: I do not claim to own Ninjago and the only character I own is boulder (who you will meet later). Thank you for reading, enjoy.
It had been 3 days since Cole was dropped through a mountain and he was drained, both physically and mentally, he was covered in bruises, after all falling through a mountain and then fighting a crazy Skull Sorcerer isn't exactly painless. They have returned to the bounty and are travelling to their next adventure, trying to catch up on lost sleep and recover. After the evening meal, he headed to his sleeping quarters to turn in for the night, unknown to everyone he hadn't gotten a decent night's sleep since he fell, since the fall had caused some less than pleasant memories to resurface, they now haunted his every sleeping moment.
He tries to sleep but as soon as he closes his eyes he would be falling but instead of landing it just keeps going, he feels as if he is falling for hours and then he feels a thud as if he has landed on that blasted spider web again and he looks around and instead of falling through the continuous, dull walls of the mountain he is falling through the open sky, below the bounty next to the broken ladder and towards the endless sea of darkness waiting to consume him. As he hit the ground with a jolt he awoke...
As he came around he realised something was out of place, his bed felt lumpy, there was a cold breeze, he could have sworn he shut his windows last night, he could hear- birds- what were birds doing as high as they are in the air. He could also smell a vague hint of smoke, that woke him up. He was laid in a forest next to him lay the smouldering remains of a campfire and climbing gear lay scattered around on the floor. He jumped up already on high alert, ready for anything.
After confirming he was safe searched the campsite for an indication as to what had happened, he didn't feel injured, even the bruises and cuts from the fight were gone. He scoured the campsite and realised he recognised a lot of the equipment. He found two things a small danger with the initials C.B. carved into it and a small wax seated note with Cole written on the front. Anxiously he opened the note and started reading, it read:
Dear Cole,
I know you must be confused as to what is happening right now but I assure you that no harm will come to you. I know the past few years have been difficult for you and your friends so I am giving you a chance to amend those mistakes and make the future better for all, I have transported you to the past you are at the base of the mountains you climbed when you met master Wu and have not met the ninjas yet but I assure you that your body and mind are that of your future self. It is up to you how you reverse from this point on I will always be watching.
Thank you for all you have done, FSM.
In shock, he reread the letter 6 more times before he finally registered what it said and meant, this is the day he met master Wu he could save everyone they couldn't prevent so much loss. He was determined to do something so even if it was the last thing he would do.
