Chapter Text
A long time ago, humans and monsters use to live together in peace and harmony. The Monsters hand always been connected with three things, something that the humans struggled with, or couldn't do at all in some cases, connect to SOULs, magic, and the elements. Those humans with a strong enough soul could learn magic, but only those with pure souls could harness the power to control the elements with the help of the monsters and enchanted gems. Each gem has to match with the Element its color is tied to, and the soul had to match with the gem. Topaz was connected to the element of ice, and with it the SOUL of PATIENTS. Amethyst was tied to the element of metal, with it the SOUL of PERSEVERANCE. The Citrine is tied to the element of fire, with it the SOUL of BRAVERY was tied to it. The yellow apatite was found to be connected with the element of light and electricity, as well as the SOUL of JUSTICE. The Emerald was found to be connected with the element of earth and plants, being tied to the SOUL of KINDNESS. The Saphire was found tied to the element of water, and the soul of INTEGRITY. Finally the ruby was found to be connected to the element of pure magic and time, being connected to the SOUL of DETERMINATION. Monsters had learned all of this, and brought their knowledge and teachings to the humans, sharing everything they knew.
Humans and monsters lived like this for many years, before one day an accident happened. A human and died, and a monster had absorbed the humans soul, becoming a powerful beast. The humans were fearful of what monsters could become, and what they could do. With this fear, anger grew, and with anger, hatred. With hatred in their souls, the humans turned against the monster, starting a war. Humans against monsters. Once students turn against their teachers. The war lasted for many many years, both sides losing many lives to the war.
The humans knew they stood no chance, but while monsters were more connected with their SOULs, magic and elements, the knew their SOULs were far stronger than the monsters. So with planning and talking, the village chief stepped forward with seven of the oldest mages, talking about the plan of luring the monsters into the small cavern and trapping them in a mini pocket world under Mount EBBOT. With a plan in place, it was time to push it in motion. It was then that the chief had volunteered his youngest bastard child. This child was named Chara. He summoned the child in to talk to them, lying to them with promises to talk to them more and spend more time with them. All they had to do is give the monsters this 'peace treaty' and tell them the promises to tell the monsters.
It wasn't till the next day that the plan went into mostion, and Chara was sent into the monsters camp, the treaty in hand. They were escorted to King Asgore, before being told to present the king the message that they came with that they claimed was important. Once Asgore had the chance to look the treaty over, and the request to come and talk about agreements between monsters and humans to avoid more fights. He thought it over, but seeing no issue or anything wrong with the document in his hands, he agreed. So he and what was left of the monster race made their way to the mountain, being lead by Chara, talking about all the promises that their father told them, about how he wants to find ways to protect their young, and for them to no longer grow up with the pain and horror of war.
As they entered the cave entrance, walking past the door that the mages made with their magic to help trap them in, it was dark inside. No monster could see past their nose or snout, Chara saying how their dad warned them that the entrance was going to be dark, but they sounded a bit nervous as any child would be when being in the dark. As the last monster entered the cave, the door slammed shut behind them, and before anyone could react, a force came at them, shoving them all back further before they all fell into what felt like a deep chasm. Soon the seven mages sealed the mountain shut, making it so that the monsters couldn't escape or expand beyond what the mountain can contain. Sealing the monsters forever in their new prison. Trapping and leaving Chara there, abandoning them without a second thought.
Angry, the monsters tried to turn on the human child, but the king and queen both saw the pain, fear and abandonment in the child's eyes as they realized that their father lied to them. He wasn't coming for them. He wasn't going to keep his promise. In this child's soul was filled with betrayal, and the HOPE they hold in their soul to be loved by their father and treated the same as their brothers, it was slowly dying. Without a second thought, the king and queen agreed the child played no true part in their entrapment, having been tricked as well by those who made false promises of peace and a loving family. They both agreed to take the human child in and raise them as their own, Changing their name to Chara Dreemurr. That day they became the child of King Asgore and Queen Toriel, and a few years later they became the older sibling to Asriel. Chara had become the human who lived among the 'giants', and with the thought that humans and monsters could one day still live in peace, HOPE began to bloom, and with that HOPE, magic bloom a flower that showed their desire to survive and to be free.
Eight years later, out of nowhere, The human child fell gravely ill, and no amount of magic or even what medicine they could make, nothing worked in making them better, and a few days later, the human had fallen to their illness. Grieving, the king and queen left to talk to those who are close to them and work close to make burial plans for the child's body and SOUL, but when they came back to see them one last time, Chara's body and SOUL was missing, and so was Asriel. In a panic, a kingdom wide search was launched and every monster was on the look out for the last surviving child, but when the king and queen went to the barrier room, they saw a sight they will never forget. It was their son, wounded and holding the body of their adopted Child. He said that Chara wanted to see their village flowers one last time before they died, so he wanted to do that for them. It was then the prince took his last breath, and soon turned to dust, and with him the SOUL shattered. The king and queen had lost two children in one night, and the kingdom lost their HOPE. It was with that, in pain and anger that Asgore made a new rule. Any human who falls into the underground would be killed for their SOUL, and when they have seven, he will absorb the SOULs and become a god to break the barrier, and bring the war back to humans. Toriel didn't like this new rule and fought with him to stop and change it, but when the second child to ever fall into the underground came, Asgore killed them without hesitation or a second thought, he took their SOUL. In disgust and hatred for what her husband had become, she left the capital, and headed to the ruins, shutting the doors for no one to enter again. HOPE once again came to the underground to every monster that have been trapped in this makeshift prison that they made into their new home, capturing what humans came into the underground, and brought them to the king to take their SOUL.
While HOPE grew for monsterkind, knowledge and memories of the monsters and magic faded over the years for the humans and soon it all became a myth and a legend told to children as bed time storied. the gems long sense either went missing, or forgotten over time on what they once use to hold and do, the only thing that remains as a reminder of the past is the warning to stay away from the mountain, for those who try to climb mount EBBOT, whether for a dare, on accident, forced or willingly. This is where our story starts.
