So apparently, if you commit enough sins, or the "wrong" (or right, depending on how you look at it) sins, in your first life, you're doomed to walk the earth as an immortal to atone for your "mistakes." Phayu thinks that's a load of bullshit. But he's the said immortal in question, so his perception of the matter is skewed. Don't let anyone tell you differently though, those 5 men, they didn't need to be alive anymore. It wasn't like anyone missed them. Phayu was thanked profusely for disposing of them, those fuckers. When he died though, he wasn't thanked. He was reprimanded and given two choices, walk through an endless wasteland for all eternity, or go back to earth and help humans every chance he could. Gee, which one could he have possibly chosen?
Yeah, so that's how Phayu ended up back on earth, trying to be the best he could to please the higher ups…..for 208 years, 37 days, and 54 minutes. Not that he's counting or anything. He still looks like he did when he died, at the ripe old age of 24. Even though he's tired of trying to decode his mentor's message, the one that will allow him to finally rest, he does actually enjoy spending time with humans. It makes him remember how it was to be human. Oh, and yes there are other beings wandering around earth, coming across as human, immortals, reapers, you name it. Along with not aging, not dying, being immortal gets you some pretty sweet perks, but he's not going to reveal those just yet, he has to keep you curious. Or else, you won't listen to his story. The story of the lonely, immortal man trying to figure out what the hell it means to die for someone when you can't die.
Yeah, he doesn't understand it either. But that's what his mentor told him that he has to do in order to be reborn or rest. So it's no wonder he's been trying to figure out the answer for over 200 years.
