Natural Predators

Summary:

As a response to this prompt on the kink meme:
Anon thinks the Blue Badger is creepy... So what if the Blue Badger was responsible for a death?
https://pw-kink-meme.dreamwidth.org/3082.html?thread=7958538#cmt7958538

Well, as is to be expected with this prompt, the result is crack.

Work Text:

It was at that precise moment when Wright shouted “Objection!” that Miles decided that this, and not the 28th of December 2001, was the worst day of his life.

Because not only did the objection win Wright the case, no, by now, Miles was used to that. It also wasn’t that the circumstances actually causing the supposed murder were ludicrous, that too was to be expected when Wright was defending. No, it was who, or rather what had actually caused the victims unfortunate demise which caused him to lose all faith.

“And therefore, there is no other plausible explanation, other that the culprit who killed Miss Mouse, was, in fact, not Mr. Worm, but rather the Blue Badger!”

And while Wright went on explaining just how in the exact moment Miss Mouse had bent down to pick up the pencil that Mr. Worm had dropped, a sudden gush of wind had caused the Blue Badger standing on the balcony above to topple over the railing and fall right on top of her head, Miles just put his own head on the bench in front of him and left it there. He didn’t raise it when Wright further explained how, when the director of Gatewater Land had found the scene, he for some reason decided that the bad publicity of having a murder committed in a theme park be less putting off for parents then having the mascot accidentally falling on someone. Miles also didn’t even do so much as look betrayed at his own witness when it was revealed that the director had consequently decided to clean the Blue Badger and then get it back on the balcony by building an improvised crane. He only changed position when the judge, after much ohing and ahing and finally declaring the accused “Not guilty”, asked Miles whether he was alright.

He just left the courtroom.

Notes:

Just a fun fact: Earthworms and mice are are two common animals that badgers like to eat.

Oh, and I really like con-crit.
